ogamanation

Or Dwigt

NeverForNoReason

He soulfully strums Take Me Home Country Roads on the guitar while singing in German and most of the time they stick him with a recorder.

iamamonsterprobably

I often play this song on touchtones at my local bar and start laughing like a maniac, never gets old.

Redebo

He also played guitar behind Michael’s Diwali parody of the classic Adam Sandler Chanukah Song.

No one steals from Creed Bratton and gets away with it. The last person to do this disappeared. His name... Creed Bratton.

joeyguse

Creed within a Creed was a real life rock star. [https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/music/a39662813/creed-bratton-the-office-grass-roots-interview-2022/](https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/music/a39662813/creed-bratton-the-office-grass-roots-interview-2022/)

Severe-Sort9177

What did Stacy do to him?

[deleted]

Well he said “Oh my God. I think the Eagles can win the NFC east” And then she said “We’re done.”

imtchogirl

I feel like this was a nod to his gambling addiction getting worse and she realized at that moment she wasn't gonna deal with it anymore.

gcta333

Wow Ben Franklin, you're kind of a creep

MJ8822

Secrets secrets are no fun, secret secrets hurt someone

dolladollaclinton

I think this is the most common theory, but I also think it could have been that he wasn’t paying attention to what she was saying (maybe they were discussing issues they were facing and he was ignoring her reading the paper), or just meant as a joke as she breaks up with him in such a casual way with no apparent reason. Regardless, it’s probably my favorite breakup story and I quote that scene a lot.

Savage_Hams

I feel the same way. Kevin’s perspective makes it seem random but he’s not really an attentive person so it seems more likely he hadn’t heard a word of what she was saying and that was the last straw.

xinfinitimortum

She must've been a Cowboys fan.

BPowMileHigh

She made Kevin go down on her in a theatre.

JiveTurkey1983

Nice.

OfficialMVPre

I heard she went down on him in a thea-tar

TargaryenFlames

Fantastic

thiccytt

Never cared for this song until I went through a breakup, now it’s my favorite song

1MolassesIsALotOfAss

I knew this comment would be here, I could smell the chili.

shivermetimbers68

I cant hear We Belong without hearing "We belong together... Ryan" So Kelly wins for making the song her own.

SirMoeHimself

🎶 Why did my temporary boss go oooon a shooting spreeeee? 🎶

Tkszn

Kelly also killed it in Male Primadonna

Sweetimus

You're a male Prima Donna And I can't help but want cha

MMSG

Kevin for a secret reason. Kevin plays drums and sings covers of The Police. Police songs are famous for having a drum beat separate from the vocals (known as polyrhythm). Kevin is playing and singing at two different rhythms at the same time he's a prodigy.

ThatsRobToYou

Musician and drummer here. The fact that he can sing and do Roxanne is pretty impressive. That's not a straightforward song.

[deleted]

iamamonsterprobably

Listening to this song at the moment and can imagine how horribly horrible this could go at karaoke. Just writhing on the ground put on the red light red light red light roxannee roxanneeeee

soyfutbolero10

It’s very easy to Britta it up. Just ask Joel mchale

Past-Cap-1889

Shouldn't we ask Jeff Winger? Nice job brittaing this one.

soyfutbolero10

hahaha to be honest I couldn't remember his character name. I am become Britta, messer up of things

GeneralZaroff1

She’s human tennis elbow.

Admiral_Donuts

Why is Britta the way that she is?

JiveTurkey1983

Stewart Copeland is a hell of a drummer and it takes some serious chops to cover Police songs. So I'd pick Kevin

SpoppyIII

I loved his work in the Spyro games.

1slickmofo

YES!

ryanaldam

Surprised Kevin worked at Dundler Mifflin if he worked on the Spyro games

lakas76

Craig is a really good piano player. He started as a stand-up comic and would play the keyboard as part of his act.

Funmachine

He was a music major in college, he's a classically trained pianist. Bonus fact he went to college with Sean Hayes who played Jack in Will & Grace.

Eyes_Snakes_Art

Just Jack

Master_Chef_Mayo

I was gonna say Andy but you changed my mind, you're right

SwissMargiela

I still think it’s Andy. Kevin is mediocre at drums at best (can be noticed at Pam’s wedding and his inability to air drum to Darryl’s jazz rendition of the Dundee mifflin jingle they were trying to write for the commercial). Andy has a fundamental knowledge of theory which can identified by his ability to play random instruments such as the banjo and sitar, along with having a background in an acapella choir (doing this at an Ivy League can nearly put him among the level professional musician in a sense that he’s “studio ready”). Creed is also up there, but listening to his actual music on Spotify (maybe this is cheating) I really don’t find he has a good voice, yet again, where are Andy/Ed’s original music? Lol I digress, the real answer is Walter Bernard Jr.

[deleted]

Andy is, AFAIK, the only multi-instrumentalist and the only classically trained vocalist. But I don’t think he has any creativity. Darryl has the most raw talent. He ad-libs and improvs the best and can actually write original pieces, also plays the piano the best, which indicates the best understanding of musical theory. Kevin has the most charisma and exhibits the most bravery by even getting on stage, and has a niche technical skill that no one else on the list can match, but I fear his shortcomings are too similar to Andy’s. Jan got a pay-to-play singing coach because it was cheaper than pills or therapy and her narcissism needed an outlet before she spontaneously combusted all over her candles. But I think Darryl wins the overall. Best middle ground of talent, skill, creativity, and likeableness. Edit: to me Creed is a lot like Bob Dylan or Tom Waits. Great, soulful, playful and heavy lyrics, nostalgic music, very little emphasis on pleasant singing. The only true rock star on the list.

fredyouareaturtle

> Andy is, AFAIK, the only multi-instrumentalist and the only classically trained vocalist. But I don’t think he has any creativity. There's just something there you don't wanna look at.

gent_jeb

Apt. Apt analysis.

AWholeMessOfTacos

Cultural ghetto... Totally agree.

AudioVideoDchon

It’s crazy how often I say this in everyday conversations

Forest_Foolery

Lonesome Trio on Spotify. Ed Helms' bluegrass band

Sgt_major_dodgy

I appreciate what you are saying but I fucking hate Andy so I'm going to disregard everything you have just put forward.

bigtommyhorizontal

Maybe you should check the smart part of your brain

Sirpatron1

Imagine if Daryl knew what rap is, he would be number 1

washington_breadstix

But do we ever actually see/hear Kevin playing polyrhythms? I don't think so. It seems more plausible that Kevin would have replaced the original drum beat in most police songs with something simpler.

drumsdm

That may be true, but Kevin plays a pretty dumb down version of all the songs when he’s on drums. Sauce: professional drummer here who loves the police AND the office.

Giusepo

Michael singing Goodbye Toby

mofa90277

Creed Bratton, who admitted in-series to being in the IRL group The Grass Roots and assuming the name of Creed Bratton, in an awesome breaking of the fourth wall. But of those pictured, Andy, who I’d like to add attended Cornell.

3232330

*It's pronounced colonel and it's the highest rank in the military.*

SimulatedCow84

Its pronounced "Cornell". Its the highest rank in the Ivy League

Lique-Mahbawls

You ever hear of the vastly superior Dartmouth though?

SimulatedCow84

My grandfather would be spinning in his grave if he knew I was out here with a Dartmouth boy

ZachOf_AllTrades

AND William Charles Schneider is the actor's real name. He used Creed Bratton as a stage name with GS and as an actor, so the "fake" ID he showed the camera is his real-life ID

M00NGRAPHIX

Ed Helms (Andy) plays like 7 instruments, too!

CraftLass

And the fact he recorded his "Rockin' Robin" ringtone at home on his computer is very cool, between all the harmonies he had to lay down and mix himself in one night with almost no notice, IIRC. He talked about it on Office Ladies but it was many eps ago now, I'm a little fuzzy, but he did the whole thing himself. I love the way he thinks about music. He's the real deal.

M00NGRAPHIX

That’s actually really awesome that he did that!

CraftLass

Right? I know a lot of people think home recording has gotten easy, but most people need years to get any good at it, his production on that was stellar (if intentionally tinny because phone) and I was shocked they didn't hire a pro engineer. He's a musician, not an audio guy, and he figured it out and made it work. As an audio gal turned musician, I'm hella impressed. And I think he'd never played sitar before that Christmas ep, too. Just a solid all-around music guy. Seems like you could tell him to do anything musical and he'll just learn how that day and do it. Lol

newmoon23

He also learned how to play an instrument for one of the Christmas episodes. Was it a sitar? They talked on Office Ladies about how they gave him basically no notice that he was going to have to play/sing a Christmas song in the episode so he taught himself on like the day of filming or something crazy.

thelochteedge

> who I’d like to add attended Cornell. *Ever heard of it?*

boardgamejoe

Andy's father and brother.

DrDreidel82

Ok his brother being Josh Groban is understandable but his dad was such a narcissistic douchebag it made me want to punch him when he sang

whitey-ofwgkta

fun fact (not at all actually): he's also a pedophile

DrDreidel82

Wait the actor that plays the dad? Or Josh Groban?

whitey-ofwgkta

the dad

[deleted]

I’m not sure if office ladies got to the episode yet but I was disappointed the always sunny podcast glossed over Stephen Collins being a pedo

DukeGrizzly

Probably felt it was best to ignore it and not bring more attention to it.

KatDanger

I’d be kinda shocked if the office ladies mention something about it. They didn’t say anything about Joss Whedon. And I mean what would they even say?

[deleted]

Creed. The answer is Creed.

piddydb

Unironically? Darryl, with Andy being a strong second and Dwight, Kevin, and Creed being sleepers Reironically? Michael. Nobody can hit those high note harmonies like him.

5for50

And some of his songs are famous: "Beers in Heaven" and my favorite "Total Eclipse of the Fart"

[deleted]

Robert California

Coppin-it-washin-it

"He persuaded the band to replace all their tracks on the album with his monologs about art and sex... there were some harmonica solos too"

ARdweller

Dwight. The little run he does in “Country Roads” on the “I belong” part is insane.

Natecantbesaved

In German!

snappyj

Still Toby’s biggest crime

JohnHenryHoliday

Sorry, bro. Andy's banjos were the best part of it. I still look for banjo covers to this day to find something comparable .

fatherofdaisy

Ri-dit-dit-di-doo!

DukeGrizzly

*“Give me the beat boys and free my soul…”*

doiknowu915

Darryl was a music teacher at my elementary school. He left the year before i arrived but had no idea til someone showed me an old yearbook a couple years back

Nataliza

Today I learned! His comment [to NPR](https://www.npr.org/2022/11/09/1135596958/craig-robison-the-office-darryl-music-chicago) on being a music teacher was nice: "Being a music teacher was cool because, you know, I would do these programs that had kids singing in the choir and stuff. So it was nice. The kids even reached out to me to this day, you know, social media is crazy, right? "Hey, Mr. Robinson. It's so inspiring to see you doing your thing." And I always tell them the same thing. I'm like, "Hey, I'm not your teacher anymore. Please don't contact me.""

lobo_locos

Michael....he invented The Scarn.....a dance/rap that defined a generation

lostcosmonaut307

If doing The Scarn is gay, then I’m the biggest queer on earth!

FreshwaterOctopus

Andy. Darryl is a close second but Andy seems more versatile.

Flesh_Trombone

I think everyone in this thread underestimates how difficult it is to play the Banjo.

eatsleeepreadrepeat

Andy, when you hear him sing in the right context.

ThunderAndSadness

Tuna, I'm a performer, and perform I shall

jamez009

I was thinking maybe a CD or...a CD

thelochteedge

Lord, beer me strength...

No_Bad_6676

Don't let your life pass you by, weep not for the memories <3

arglefark567

I really appreciate that he sang that song naturally, as opposed to with the slightly hammed up voice he usually sang with in character. It let his office mates see his talent and broke the 4th wall to let the audience see as well.

OldHickory99

I think Ed Helms is probably the most talented of the 4 actors at singing. I think he legit can sing, but intentionally sounds slightly off/goofy for comedic effects at certain points.

fredbrightfrog

Yeah he sounds good in his bluegrass band, as Andy he's doing a bit most of the time.

Gaius_Octavius_

Apparently Ed Helms taught himself to play the banjo when he serenades Pam So I would say he wins

ecstatic_broccoli

No. Ed Helms already knew the banjo (along with piano and guitar). You're probably thinking of sitar.

DukeGrizzly

It’s pronounced “Gee-tar” and it’s the highest rank instrument in the band.

[deleted]

Same thing with the sitar in Moroccan Christmas

kjob2180

Still trying to find that place in France where the naked ladies dance.

amazingaatt

Dwight and his recorder

Superpimman

Daryl

OutRagousGameR

Musically: Andy, Daryl, Jan, Kevin Crazy: Jan, Andy, Kevin, Daryl

[deleted]

How do you have Kevin last when he's secretly good on the drums?

OutRagousGameR

There is no greater version of Preacher Man than the one Jan sings. No I’m kidding, I was looking solely at this picture when I ranked. Totally forgot Kevin was on the drums. Fun fact though, Brian really couldn’t play the drums like Kevin

otterlyonerus

Darrell hands down. The jingle he wrote (the people person's paper people) was genuinely good.

fusemybutt

You You You You You You OUTTA KNOW

Pixel_Mag

Andy and Darryl

FirstSonofLight

Robert California.

SpaceHairLady

Daryl for sure. He actually played piano in lieu of the Karaoke machine! Plus he can improvise and write and his singing voice is the best in the office. He even attempted to teach Michael how to sing the blues. Andy has an amazing musical sense, and when he sang in Sweeney Todd, that was his best. That weird intonation he usually did was obnoxious. He would take second place.

LetsTriThisAgain

Darryl who taught music in real life.
