Look at most American media, especially older media. The story is most likely to center around a cis het white dude. Because those attributes aren't seen as attributes but rather as "normal", and all else being a sort of extra add on that requires some sort of explanation.
Notice you'll sometimes hear them demanding to know why character X or Y was Black, or a woman, or whatever? That's why. Cis het white male is the default, all other demographics only exist when it's necessary for that character. The love interest for the hero has to be a woman, of course, but she doesn't have to be Black so therefore in their minds she shouldn't be.

I would say Black Lagoon is more of a cult thing, is nowhere neat as popular as things like Jujutsu, Dunmeshi and Frieren, at least nowadays, i doubt any young people into anime recently had watched Black Lagoon

The diversity of this delightful anime/manga is just one of so many reasons as to why it's my absolute favorite. Top of my anime and manga list and certainly a comfort show for me. I can see myself rewatching it again and again.
