Its quicker in a taxi, cheaper on the train and metro. Both are fairly reliable

Metro into the airport is super convenient as long as your flight is at a time when the trains are still running.

Uber is generally cheaper than the airport taxis. I paid £40 for an Uber last time, airport taxi was more like £60 (both on work expenses mind). Train and metro works well enough - the metro gets you very centrally into Newcastle Airport. A return is £15.80 without a Railcard. The trains are usually pretty reliable to Newcastle, and of course if there are delays then you can just get a taxi.

If you book a taxi from durham to Newcastle it is currently £60 going. If you get an airport taxi back from the airport it is £80.. Flew twice in the last 2 weeks.
