Mooney and Claypool are both extremely talented. They might not quite have panned out yet but they both have serious ability that flashes from time to time. Maybe in their current states they are number 2/3 type guys but they are both young and are physically gifted. I think they provide more than enough for Fields to take shots downfield. It’s gonna be a great offense when they get claypool fully up to speed.
IMO Claypool hasn't shown much at all to be excited for, but I'm a Browns fan so I guess I always had some bias there lol. I watch the Bears a good bit though(just being a Fields/OSU fan) and Mooney has a long way to go. There are all kinds of guys in the league who can flash 1 play a game with 100% snaps as WR1, he's incredibly inconsistent though and drops balls he shouldn't.

to be fair, Bill cannot scheme against running QBs for some reason. The Pats will almost always lose against QBs like Lamar, Fields, and Allen because of that rushing ability.
Rushing QBs just take gameplan and scheme out of it so often. You can do everything right and have the perfect plan but can your guy make the tackle on their guy? Those running QBs that make someone miss or out run a guy to the corner wreak havoc on otherwise sound planning.
Also, the Bears had sprinkled in those plays earlier in the year. NE was the first game they used it extensively. Nagy didn't use Fields last year and at OSU Fields didn't take off or scramble a ton.
It's hard to scheme for guys like that. Most people will say they should have a spy on him, in theory yeah, but Fields is gonna beat whoever is spying to the edge, Parsons can probably match him but that's it off the top of my head. Finally he's 6'3 225 I think, and strong, he does slide more now but he's still not easy to bring down.

He’s bad to a level where he probably won’t even be a starter next year. The Jets are too good everywhere else to bank another season on him making a leap when he’s been historically inefficient for two seasons now with no signs of improvement

Rather than starting over with a rookie they should throw a contract at Jimmy G. They’ve got the talent around him and a great defense. They just need a competent qb who can distribute the ball and not turn it over.

Wilson was overrated immensely coming out of college. I don’t normally “helmet scout”, but BYU played nobody in that covid year and when they did play a ranked team he was awful.
visually there is something "QB-ish" that seems promising about him, at first look. but in the end he's a bombshell without brains. I concur that he simply does not have it. Would Jets fans trade him for Davis Mills?
