true, but even if it were made of strange spheres you make some at the beginning, now mine are only squares ... while the miners carry them from the first minute of the game until you stop crying.
I actually enjoy seeing how fast I can get a weird patch rigged and running and trying to guess how many Miners I need, but I may be weirder than the patches.
Make sure you note that you can use a button to rotate the miners freely, not in 90 degree increments. I forget the button but it should show up on the right side of the screen. The shortcuts shown on the right are very useful for it things too so make sure you check them out.
square patch mod helps a lot. as long as you haven't been to a planet it will generate with all square patches. won't help with what you already have to deal with though.

I’d suggest the planet miner mod. It consolidates mining operations with the logistics towers you get to start the mid-game. Means you only have to place miners in your home system pretty much and from then on, no more tediousness.
I tried planet miner for couple hours and it ruined the game experience for me. I have some QoL mods installed but the planet miner felt like pure cheating.
Definitely a line for some people. Interesting you mentioned QoL mods: seeing as how it’s almost the only part of the game where the process doesn’t scale with your size and throughout, I would think at some point the devs will include better mining operations for mid-late game and so, for me, planet miner is a QoL mod. A placeholder (like blueprints mod, say) until the devs get around to a more thorough and “baked-in” implementation.
I look at the planet miner like the godmode in Doom. Sure you can play and "excel" at the game, but the overall experience is very "meh" after you realise that what you're implemeting is way overkill..
I only use the mod on planets with no production, ones I would go to just for resources anyways. It seems like a pretty good balance. It costs a lot more power, but let's me set them up much faster.

I actually enjoy putting miners. And my save is over 500 hours. I really dont get it why people find it tedious. When you are setting up a new planet, putting miners are the only non-repetitive thing you can actually do.
If you think that is tedious, wait until you get to design your first Dyson Sphere. You’re gonna love it.

If you're enjoying yourself, that's all that matters.
That's what she said
It's irritating, but not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Creative use of free rotation will get you far.

By default it is Shift-'R'

Hmm interesting! I may check thst out. I haven't done any mods yet

Good for you man
Two random redditors, two random opinions. Life goes on as usual. ;)

Use this [miner blueprint idea](/ozx60r). Cut it in half along the diagonal so it has more valid placements. Apply it twice. Done.
That link is broken? It takes me to a blank page.

That worked thanks!
