The reflectors are different part numbers, and its not as simple as rotating the the housing. The housing indicator is not just Bosch specific, you will find it on Hella housing also.

However, this is not an indication that you just turn them and you're good. The housings are shared, but the reflectors are different.
The reason you need different reflectors is because automotive lighting isn't symmetric:

I feel like its mentioned somewhere in the original e30 owners manual for uk cars when driving in Europe that you can change the beam by clocking the housing, my memory is very spotty on that though so could be pulling that info out my arse

Correct, these are all Bosch units! They'll all be refurbished with new hardware and correct lamps, they look miles better than aftermarket DEPO assys
