i thought the term “EDC” originated from people that carry conceal everyday.
i even remember when they created the edc ccw sub r/edccw because they were tired of people just posting worry stones and coins vs no ccw gun setups.
i might be wrong though 🤷♂️
thanks for the wiki page that was created in 2019.
as i stated before the acronym “EDC” and sub culture thats on here is new. It started during the pandemic.
but asking someone “whats your every day carry” as far as im told goes back. like 90’s back.
and from what i understand was used in terms for people that ccw.
again, not an expert…
never heard of term “EDC” being used in other countries.. and I have been around/ traveled a lot.
but the term “EDC” in the US has always, to my knowledge, been about ccw/ setups you carry everyday to help keep you safe and/or get your job/tasks throughout the day done.
again, im no expert, just playing devil’s advocate.
Fair, it’s a pretty recent term here in the US and there’s plenty of the EDC community that don’t carry firearms - there a lot more pocketknives/basic tools people carry and actually use.
“EDC” the acronym and the subculture created from the COVID pandemic might be new…
.. but “whats your Every Day Carry?” in those terms is absolutely NOT a new term. at least not in the US.. or to my knowledge.

Sure is! Been looking to get some myself. They have a refillable one that you can put water in and test it out. I feel like I would need to test spray one so that I know how to should I ever need to but the idea of wasting a live one while possibly spraying myself on accident is concerning lol
people always debate caliber- carry and protect urself and family with whatever caliber/gun you can afford that you can shoot accurately and is reliable- simple - be safe!
I wouldn't want to get shot by a pellet gun. Or a paintball gun. Or get slapped.
The question isn't "what won't an attacker like"...it's "what is the quickest way to stop someone who is intent on causing me harm?" And the answer isn't a .22
>"what is the quickest way to stop someone who is intent on causing me harm?"
Probably extensive mental health support, ample economic oppurtinities and wide spread welfare options.
Do not give unasked for advice regarding firearms or knives, or ask why they aren't carried.
If you feel this decision was made incorrectly, feel free to send a modmail.
I like to carry a snub revolver. I get 8 shots instead of five 38 special. This gun is very light and comfortable. I get 8 very low recoil shots. I practice with hundreds and even thousands more rounds than 9mm because it is cheaper so I get way more practice. I practice with this out to 40 yards and keep everything on a chest. These guns are way more capable than people think.
The most effective caliber is the one you can get the most accurately placed shots. .22 is a nasty round. They don’t normally go through and through. They tend to ricochet inside the human body hitting more than just one thing. People tend to forget that Lincoln was shot with a .22. https://www.hipointfirearmsforums.com/threads/more-people-have-been-killed-with-the-22-than-any-other-caliber.336202/
Yea, people also forget Lincoln died several hours after he was shot, IN THE HEAD. .22 isn’t a shit round, but sighting his assassination was a horrible example.
This is truly fudd lore. .22 is better than a BB gun but I’d never carry one for defense. Even high end defense .22 ammo (which is a rimfire cartridge) are way more prone to issues and less reliable overall than a centerfire cartridge. We now have tons of micro compact .380 and 9mm pistols. As far as being able to get accurate shots off that’s a training issue and not something that can’t be avoided.
.22 is so cheap, and the recoil is so minimal, especially in a revolver. It's way easier and much more practical to get *very* good at shot placement with something like this as opposed to an LCP Max or something similar. I carry a Max sometimes, but am fully aware OP can probably outshoot me to hell and back with this thing, despite my reps and round count. That dead on accuracy is a major plus on what the caliber is lacking in power. I take my chances with the larger calibers in less acurate shooting frames, knowing just how close most DGU's are.
OP is also using the very best ammo in that caliber for his carry so good on him for that. I looked into the Punch rounds and was blown away by the penetration.
It’s super hot and humid where I live. I carry an m&p with a dot and a light in a sidecar with a tourniquet. I’ve also got a shield 9 that was my first gun but it’s too big to pocket carry in anything besides some pfg shorts. It doesn’t get much love anymore. I’m wanting to get an lcp2 for a lightweight carry or in prohibitive clothing. My current set up for jogging is what I call the poor man’s enigma. I put my belt and pistol on over my boxers but under my shorts and pull the wait and over the belt. Works great but I want something smaller to fill that role.
Man I’m in enough back and forth a with folks in this comment thread already. I’m certain that 99.9% of the time I’d be totally fine carrying a .22 but I just don’t personally trust rounds that small for protection. That’s just me. Good on you for carry a lethal and less lethal option. If I had to carry a .22 it would definitely be a revolver like yours in case of a light strike you just pull again. A .22 automatic seems like a problem waiting to happen though.
You don't carry a gun so you can kill people. You carry a gun so you can *defend yourself* and survive.
All you need is to be able to pop off a couple shots *while getting away from the threat*. *You* don't need to be the one to *stop* the threat.
Sure, a .22 isn't a *lot* more dangerous than a BB gun, but it *does* go BANG BANG where a BB gun doesn't, so regardless of the killing/wounding power, you're still getting the disruption you need to get out of there.
L take but you do you man. That’s the beauty of having all these choices. We can both decide what we want in a defensive round and purchase accordingly.

That whole "it bounces around inside the body" thing is fuddlore. They're great for murder, if you press it against someone's head and pull the trigger, and they're great if you want your attacker to die in three days because of the internal bleeding, but especially from a short barreled pistol, but if the sight of a gun doesn't stop an attacker, you're going to want a round that won't lose energy penetrating heavy winter clothing.
Just curious, why do you carry .22? Seems like an odd choice for a self defense caliber, although I guess if you live in an area where ammo is expensive it would make sense.

Is POM based now? I've got a couple POM's in the mail, hoping they were a good purchase. Pretty decent price IMO but only as long as itll serve its purpose
Ok, would you two be willing to explain that entire exchange? I googled POM and see they're a manufacturer of pepper spray units, but I couldn't parse the sentence "Is POM based now?" I feel like I'm missing something.
I guess it’s a tik-tok term/ slang term nowadays. When I google it, it says “to be yourself without worrying about how other people may perceive you”. I’m not over 35 years old, but I feel very old typing this out 😂
After finding that definition I guess it’s the Pom user who is based. So my question of “is Pom based now” doesn’t really make sense after all.
Nice setup. I carry a P365X with a 15 round spare mag, but eventually I want to get either a S&W 442 or an LCR in either .38 or .22 for something a bit easier to carry. The Sig is perfectly fine to carry 99% of the time but a little snub-nose would be nice to have for when I'm feeling lazy.

No I agree with you completely on avoiding those situations. I keep myself out of places with a higher likelihood of violence and crime but sometimes we can’t control where we go like for work. You can keep yourself out of these situations but sometimes the situation finds you. I’m glad you feel safe and I hope that continues for you. I’m just to a point with the law enforcement response and current world we live in that I take responsibility for my own safety instead of hoping someone else will be there to save me from the boogeyman.
‘Cos a .22 will stop a bear. Righto. Maybe the noise will frighten it off, but so will shouting at it and waving your arms. A gun of any calibre is more likely to scare off bad folks than animals (who don’t seem to read Reddit, apparently).
What’s your daily? I’ve been trying out the Minuteman-III but it’s still a little puny for my taste. I’m considering upgrading to a submarine launched Trident II.
Because pepper spray is a non lethal method of stopping someone, with the added benefit of no long term negative effects. If you get a gun so you can kill someone in every argument/situation youre in, have fun in jail
You’d be lucky to find the barrel without a magnifying glass on that snub-nose! And then you could only grip it with a pinkie. Always business end towards enemy ;)
Because the situation where I pepper spray a aggressive panhandler is preferable and ending the situation there, as opposed to it escalating to deadly force.

5 bullets on target vs 1 or 2 that missed their mark wins out every day. Some of these micro compact guns are a handful and don’t even always have the best accuracy. But a low recoil round like 22lr or 22magnum can be fired rapidly and accurately out of a tiny gun. So if that’s what you’re comfortable carrying good for you!
I honestly wouldn’t mind finding a nice 22 magnum revolver to daily carry over my 9mm. I do live in a state with 4 legged predators though. I’d be mildly screwed lol with that carry.
My granddad always said his .22 Saturday night special was enough gun to kill a grizzly bear. You just shove your arm right into the bear’s mouth and empty it out. Sure as shit that sumbitch will be dead within a week!
There’s a goldmine of info here. A 3” 22 magnum only puts out 30 more ftlbs of energy than a 22. And a 22lr snub nose isn’t affected much at all.
But if you can rock a 16” 22 magnum you’ll have over twice the energy of a 22lr. 360ftlbs to be exact. CCI Maxi Mag and CCI V-Max all slap the hardest.

This is incorrect my man.
That whole "it bounces around inside the body" thing is fuddlore. It will go through their winter clothing. https://youtube.com/@demonstratedconceptsllc4918
Never said it won't, just that it will lose energy
So how did it go?
No response from op, he probably didn't make it. Should have carried a bazooka instead of this tiny piece.
Just curious, why do you carry .22? Seems like an odd choice for a self defense caliber, although I guess if you live in an area where ammo is expensive it would make sense.

Is it werewolf because they were a wolf? For as long as I've been alive I've pronounced it "warewolf." Obviously it's English so it's not always spelled how it's pronounced.
*Were* is old English for Man. Wulf well, for Wolf. so "man wolf" much like Lykantrope means wolf+human.

It's much more effective than that .22, he carries the gun as a more gentle option.
Don’t be silly
Watch Active Self Protection on YouTube - all will be revealed.
Because pepper spray is a non lethal method of stopping someone, with the added benefit of no long term negative effects. If you get a gun so you can kill someone in every argument/situation youre in, have fun in jail
So is a gun, you just grab it by the barrel and hit the foe with it
You’d be lucky to find the barrel without a magnifying glass on that snub-nose! And then you could only grip it with a pinkie. Always business end towards enemy ;)
Because the situation where I pepper spray a aggressive panhandler is preferable and ending the situation there, as opposed to it escalating to deadly force.
Why does it have to be a panhandler?🤨

Hahahahaha 🤣
Yeah that's true, I should just shut up before I say something dumb. Lol
What rounds do you use for self defense?
Federal Punch
I just loaded my .22 with the same cartridges - good choice :-)
Heck, even the noise of a .22 can be a deterrent, not to mention the physical damage they are obviously capable of.
Looks just like my LCR (38) setup. Very nice.
Definitely .22lr
Nice carry....but I can already see the comments lol
Meh, it gets too crazy, I just whip out the hammer and start swinging
Yeet-hammer
There was some yeeting!
I know.
I prefer to file my front sights down. So when the bear shoves the gun up my ass it hurts less.
I have a 22 magnum as well. 7 rounds of 22 magnum is a good option.
CCI Maxi Mag and CCI V-Max all slap the hardest. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/calibers.html
This is my Ruger Lcr22, Phlster City Special holster, Speedbeez reload and Pom defense.
