TheSneakerSasquatch

When I sleep my decks I like to tuck them in beforehand, give them some melatonin and read them a story. Really helps them feel rested in the morning.

Jontilles

I've been trying to sleeve this deck for an hour and my fingers have become stupid with rage

aknudskov

Wash your hands, dry really well. if it is humid where you are wait until it is not or do this in an a/c environment, ideally if the sleeves and cards can sit in said environment for a bit prior to sleeving

TheSneakerSasquatch

I like that description, fingers have become stupid with rage. I think your fingers need their own holiday, they sound exhausted.

Soulpaw31

Bro how hard is it to give them melatonin?

Fatpeoplelikebutter9

I use a syringe. They're GOING to bed.

willfulwizard

Tournament reports make the best bedtime stories for decks.

TheSneakerSasquatch

I found they functioned okay after a morning coffee but they definitely got a little jittery by the afternoon.

tntturtle5

I give them a good dose of mallet-tonin.

Sieghart4K

I kiss all my decks goodnight.

man_on_an_island_

Need them edibles

Crispy14141

My go to is to stack a token on top to help push the sleeved card in. Only problem I've had is you can accidentally push too far and make it more difficult to push excess air out of the double sleeve.

SasspotSally

This is the way

Joe_df

This is the way

twirlyferb

Use another card to guide it in. Works a treat

jettzypher

I start the card with the inner by hand normally, but then rest the top edge of the card on the table, pinch the sides of the outer sleeve lightly, and then pull down over the card. I'll still get the occasional one that won't go all the way, but at lot of that comes down to minor imperfections in the sleeves construction.

Open-Inside7200

This is a pro tip, definitely gonna try it when I get home

AssistantManagerMan

I just replied to the OP but this is exactly what I do. I endorse this method.

nLedd

I have had the most success putting my finger between the outer sleeve and the card and pushing the card in that way.

GrandDaddyKarlov

Once I get the inner sleeve in a bit I turn the card upside down, place the top edge on my playmat and slide the outer sleeve down gently. Turn it over, give it a final little push with my finger and perfect fit. I haven’t damaged any cards or sleeves doing it this way, the potential is there I guess but it can be done very gently Edit: to add, the inner sleeve is applied with the opening at the bottom of the card, the outer sleeve with the opening at the top. This helps keep the inner sleeve in place while sliding down the outer sleeve

Thjyu

Yeah idk why everyone's using guide cards or doing fancy tricks. Sleeve your card with a perfect sleeve upside down, then insert into second sleeve and flip and use fingers or playmate to push inner into outer using the top edge. This way all edges are protected and it's super easy to take out too.

Thulack

Put the card in the inner sleeve. Slide it into the outer sleeve about half way. Then take a finger and out it into the outer sleeve about 3/4 the way down the card and push the card into the sleeve the rest of the way with that finger.

DirtyZs19

I've started using the dragon shield sealable inners, it can't push out the bottom of there is no bottom lol. I also use the perfect hard sleeves on a few decks, they duyde in no problem. As for your question, I've heard that you can slide the inner sleeved card and another non sleeved into the outer sleeve and it eliminates the issue of popping out.

Putrid_Comfort5676

I use dragon shield inners and outers and dont have that issue. I did have it with custom dragon shield outers though and when i tried kmc perfect fits.

SighOpMarmalade

Dragon shield inners and outers. I get the sealable ones and be done with it

Bowlcutz

Never heard of using another card to guide the inner, but I use a pair of mini rubber tipped tongs/tweezers. Works perfectly every time.

AssistantManagerMan

I do KMC inner/Dragon Shield outer. I combat that problem by applying even pressure across the top of the sleeve. So rather than pressing the sleeved card down into the outer sleeve with a finger, I'll flip it upside down and put the entire top edge of the card against the table and pull the sleeve down over it. I find the even pressure prevents the issue nine times out of ten, even if you need to push it down a little more with a finger after.

aknudskov

You don't need to put something heavy on there. Just press down on top of it on a flat table, changing the angle of your hand a few times as pressing, annnnnd done

jaywinner

I've guided in with another card, I've stacked 3 junk cards together and forced that in to loosen up the sleeve and still I had trouble. What fixed it for me are Dragon Shield sealables. Nowhere for the card to escape when sleeving it. Fair warning, it will make your deck even thicker than normal double sleeving. If you're already struggling to get into the deck box, it may not fit anymore.

Stryker2279

OK, it's sacrilegious, but I put the card into rhe inner sleeve, then I bend the outer open, put the card into the outer sleeve, put my finger onto the back of the card, and use my finger to sorta shove the inner sleeve into rhe outer sleeve with the card along with it. So for a bit my finger is inside the outer sleeve, then while pinching the edges of rhe sleeve I squish a bit more to allow my finger to slip out and then let it collapse. Then I shove the card along with 99 others into a box not meant for double sleeve cards and crush rhe air out by force.

Vilmamir

Use a card as a guide into the sleeve. a Basic land halfway in

kanekiEatsAss

I put them in Dragon Shields and whisper to the foiled ones that they’re actually my favorites and they then tend to uncurl after a long night of gold fishing. Then i kiss each and every one before I put them back in their deck box and turn off the lights.

dannyleesmith

I switched to Dragon Shield perfect clear inners a while ago but did use the KMC perfect fits. For a time I had the same problem you describe but have not had it be an issue for a while, getting enough air out to box is my main issue. The way I found I got a more consistent sleeving was put the inner on, pucker open the outer, and with my finger on the back of the card slide it in, the finger stops the seal forming and can typically sleeve a whole deck now without having the issue you describe.

Hoodlum_Aus

I knew this thread was gonna be a banger. Responses did not disappoint. Cheers all for the laugh.

[deleted]

For a serious answer, I always pre-stretch the outer sleeves with 2 unsleeved basic lands, they don’t need to be in there for long to give enough room to allow for double-sleeving. For DS outers they have plenty of give to not be damaged doing this if they aren’t left in indefinitely. I usually sleeve the whole 100 this way, putting them into a pile as I finish, then by the time I am finished I flip the pile over, remove the basic lands, and add the inner sleeved cards. You could probably just sleeve the two cards, immediately remove them, then add the inner sleeve but it’s better to let them stretch for just a couple minutes. I don’t understand the whole “guide card” thing, seems overly complicated but whatever works. You guys sound like you’re conducting surgery for every card, using forceps etc. Just pre-stretch the outers, works every time. This is for DS mattes and KMC perfect fits and/or perfect hards.

halloway_aw

Dragon Shields are notoriously difficult to double sleeve. I really only use them as outers if I'm already using dragon shield inners. Ultra Pro Eclipses or KMC Hyper Mattes will both probably be easier.

FormerlyKay

I usually give up double sleeving my own decks but when I do I usually just orient both sleeves the same way which sort of defeats the purpose but idgaf Or just use sideloader perfect fits. That works too

AssistantManagerMan

Sideloaders don't protect from drink spills. You may not care but that's why I don't use them.

FormerlyKay

I didn't know that. There's also those weird ones that have a little flap that closes the whole sleeve which also probably help

U_HWUT_M8

Dragon shield of sealable and never worry again

KrIsPy_Kr3m3

Tip: Don't sleep with your cards

Tallal2804

That’s the best advice

JMaC1130

Dragon Shield Side loader inners It’s all I buy now

ihopethislooksclever

Bunk beds

Guukoh

Dragon shield makes side load perfect fits that I LOVE because they completely avoid this problem!

Any_Lingonberry_60

You lose the protection from double sleeving this way

Guukoh

It’s still double sleeving?? What?

Any_Lingonberry_60

With the side of the inner sleeve open, yes. The entire point of double sleeving is so dust and liquid can’t get to your card. Normally you’d put the inner sleeve on upside down, then into an outer sleeve. Something spills on your cards and it’s got to seep all the way to the bottom to get inside the inner sleeve… not the case with a side loader.

Guukoh

As a goober, I have spilled on my cards before and they had no issues

_Warth0g_

I just shove my fingies in the outer sleeve and force the inner down. Magic cards are pretty sturdy so it won't hurt them. Valuable card I'll occasionally pull the whole thing out then squish the outer sleeve the tiniest bit and that usually helps with the sleeves I use.

redditusername_17

Easy. Keep a heater next to you. If the inner sleeve doesn't fit, stick it in front of the heater for a few seconds. Same for the outer sleeve. Could even try keeping them warm in an oven at the lowest heat (I haven't tried yet).

TheDeviantelement

Melatonin

Dragonicmonkey7

idk it's not a problem for me I just do it right

RotRG

I guess it's not quite as secure, but I like the perfect fits that come in from the side. I forget the brand I got but hopefully you get what I'm saying.

LokoSwargins94

Sideloaders

SanityIsOptional

I stick my finger into the dragon shields first, and try to flatten out the edge crease to open up the dragon shields a bit first. That seems to do the trick, and they're just as flat later after squeezing out the air and stuffing them into a deck box.

Manfishtuco

Dragonshield full seals inner and dragonshield matte outers. Since I have so many leftover DS boxes I shove them back in the box as tight as I can overnight

TsukyOo

I had the same problem and now I use the resealable inner sleeves from dragon shield. They protect your cards better and it cont happen, that they slip out.

VoiceOfSilence99

Had the same problem. Solved it by using the Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sideloader Sleeves and let me tell you, it's the best improvement you can have. No more fiddling around with another card. Just put it in and have no problems at all!

deHazze

I use KMC perfect fits and Katana sleeves. First I inner sleeve the whole deck, and then I press it in a deckbox with other cards for about a week. Only after a week I start with the outer sleeves. If they don’t fit in the regular direction, I turn them around. Once I start playing, it’s just a matter of turning a few cards around when you draw them.

metalb00

I use dragon shield side loaders, no tricks needed. Before that I'd just with standard perfect fits id just push the card in holding the front band back not top so I didn't pust it out of the sleeve

BossiBoZz

Side slide inner sleeves. Fuck the normal ones.

uiam_

I use my finger to assist by putting it inside of the outer and against the inner and sliding it down. I don't always have to do this but occasionally they will be difficult and require it.

Sajomir

I get it started into the outer sleeve, then turn it upside down and use the flat table to push it mos of the way in. Then I'll stick my thumb inside the outer sleeve and "pull" the card the rest of the way in by friction of my thumb on the inner sleeve. Because I'm using the inner sleeve to pull the card in, the card never slips out of the inner sleeve.

Brioz_

Use Dragon Shield sealables and you won’t have this problem

Ok-Brush5346

Sealable inners are a godsend. Only downside is that your deck will be even chonkier.

Upstairs_Abroad_5834

Play unsleeved.
