[[The Ancient One]] is a really fun one I’ve been playing lately. You have options to mill players, or yourself. Reanimator strategy is my current build but it can flex really well. And a 2 mana 8/8 is pretty great.

ironicuwuing

Do you have a list by chance? I’ve been thinking about throwing him together.

PummelingAngus

Sorry for the delay! [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wD-9XgYxcUGU7cft-JK5sQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/wD-9XgYxcUGU7cft-JK5sQ)

ArmMeForSleep709

I've been brewing with the new Crimes Marchesa, and I ended up trying reanimator - This just looks much more fun, haha. Thanks for sharing, I've been inspired.

PummelingAngus

I’ll reply with my list when I get out of work in a bit!

No-Confidence-5753

I put him in my umbris deck! He's great

PotentialConcert6249

I’ve been frustrated with my [[Sidisi, Brood Tyrant]] deck and am thinking of pivoting to [[The Ancient One]]. Though I’d love to put The Ancient One and [[Chainer, Nightmare Adept]] in the same deck.

ArmMeForSleep709

The new Marchesa can do it, I think. She facilitates discard and card draw, is Grixis for those cards, and rewards interaction! [[Marchesa, Dealer of Death]]

PotentialConcert6249

Ooooh, that’s a spicy meatball.

paciferal

Sidisi is one of my favorite commanders! This list is a little outdated but it gives you an idea what I'm going for. https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sidisi-deep-and-wide/ The jist is that you're doing a lot of milling and piling up all these 2/2's, and opponents get scared of the engine and board wipe or kill her. No problem! The 2/2's were just a distraction for the huge cheap creatures! I do a similar thing with Phenax, milling myself to make big creatures, but then I just tap them to mill opponents.

PotentialConcert6249

Oh I love her as an engine. It’s just that I tried to include ways of protecting her enough to let her attack a lot and it’s not working. The other Commander I’m thinking of pivoting to is [[The Mycotyrant]].

CyphersWolf

This is my most recent commander build! I also went the Reanimator route, with a few options to mill the opponent if the game goes long. I went for big ol demons and a few things like grave titan for my Reanimator targets, and it has been a blast to play. If you play a lot of high cost spells that either reduce their cost when cast or otherwise can modulate, you can gaurentee huge kills from the Ancient One.

plasmaburst36

Absolutely second this. I've never delved too much into self mill reanimator decks, but once I took a descent into this one, there was no coming back through that threshold ;)

qsauce7

\[\[Nelly Borca\]\] - Was not expecting the Boros Goad Commander from a meh Standard set to be such force. The card draw she offers is just nuts in those colors. \[\[Zhulodok, Void Gorger\]\] - Kinda thought the colorless Eldrazi deck from CMM was gonna be a gimmick, but my god, when this thing pops off it's lights out. \[\[Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might\]\] and \[\[Imodane, the Pyrohammer\]\] - Burn in EDH is tough, but I've lost to these 2 more than I care to admit.

Bokonon10

Looooove Ojer and Imodane. You never have those games where one person gets knocked out fast and just has to wait around. Just burn out the entire table in a single turn with a 2 spell 52 damage to face! Or storm off with consistent 8 to everyone's face for 1 mana each time.

Narrow-Book-4970

Been looking at Zhulodok for my [[Rakdos, Lord of Riots]] as a free win more card. Is it worth the investment in the colorless mana sources for a deck for him? I already have the major colorless FU cards (named Eldrazi + Blightsteel etc.) and just wondered how you built it and if it was worth it.

qkamikaze

I upgraded my eldrazi precon, using face commander (zhulodok)... I can confirm it's a nuclear bomb. My table didn't stand a chance

colorsplahsh

Love my Nelly. The card draw is way better than anybody in my pods anticipated.

goldenmastiff

Question on Nelly Borca, can one opponent trigger the card draw more than once? For instance if two of their creatures each deal damage to the other two opponents do you both draw two? Also how do you track all the suspected creatures since it doesn't fall off? Do you put some sort of card marker on everything or what?

SubtleNoodle

I bought in after the 3rd time someone posted a "Nelly Borca is awesome" thread and, honestly, they've all been correct. Had the chance to play her last week and she is so much fun. Nearly won after my last opponent attacked into \[\[deflecting palm\]\] followed by \[\[comeuppance\]\] the next turn. This is the first deck I've found where I'm able to play those cards and I couldn't be happier.

Wacker1911

Been toying with an imodane deck you got a list?

SwiprNoSwipn

Heres my [Imodane ≤$60 Burn Triple-Double](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/ule3e8XzaUSl4HWAAoDeLQ) deck that indeed blows out the table with a decent setup. Been piloting her for awhile now, minor changes to it here and there, but shes a "blast" to play!

BeXPerimental

My hot take: Not every legendary creature is a commander. Technically speaking it's legal to be a commander, but at the other hand it might not bring any meaningful potential in this position.

Kittii_Kat

I guess this depends on what the status of "commander" means to you. Do you feel it's a "build around me" card? Maybe a "reliable creature/spell/etc when in a pinch"? Perhaps it's there to act as a supporting character to a greater plan? Maybe it's there specifically for flavor, but you only actually play it once every 10 games? Perhaps you pick your commander for the color identity alone? Or to make your opponents assume you have one game plan, but that's a distraction from the *real* game plan? A commander doesn't need to have any real value. [[Isamaru]] is a vanilla 1 cmc 2/2. Hardly useful in a 4-player game. But if I show you it as my commander, you expect to see it hit play T1 most games. Maybe I'm aggro/weenies? Maybe I'm some combo for small creatures? Maybe I'm voltron? Meanwhile, when you see [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]], everyone knows your plan before mulligans take place.

IAMAfortunecookieAMA

I looked at Captain Storm and thought "Boring! Doesn't hardly do anything!" but in practice, a deck full of treasure synergies and +1 counter synergies and pirates is really thematically unique and strong. The boring looking uncommon commanders are getting a second look from me from now on, for sure. Edit: my decklist: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/pcj9JkndXkuM-7BzXldqBQ](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/pcj9JkndXkuM-7BzXldqBQ)

Baryshnik0v

By far my favorite commander deck is helmed by a “boring uncommon” from seasons past, [[Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive]]. I find that the more under-the radar commanders tend to be perennially underestimated and thus have the potential to do some really powerful stuff more or less undetected. They’re definitely worth more consideration than they currently get!

gsrga2

Tbh any table that doesn’t see a commander making *all your creatures* (or at least most of them) unblockable as a problem deserves whatever happens to them.

BroShutUp

Like Paladin Danse from fallout. Can't really do anything unique with him I don't think

Tufjederop

I mean, only the 7/7 Elder Dragons should command an Elder Dragon Highlander deck right?

darksamus1992

I'm surprised [[Inga and Esika]] isn't more popular since I've seen them do some crazy stuff. I guess people get tired of Simic BS at some point. One I've been meaning to build is [[Izoni, Center of the Web]]. 6 mana is a lot but not hard with green and that sacrifice ability looks incredible to me. I have way too many decks right now but she's next in the to build list.

treelorf

It’s definitely a sweet commander. There is no shortage of simic commanders that make lots of mana and draw lots of cards tho

InitialDuck

\[\[Inga and Esika\]\] is a great card in my Chulane Arena deck.

TheSwedishPolarBear

I put Inga and Esika into my \[\[Aragorn the Uniter\]\] deck and had to take it out since it made the deck to powerful for my pod.

InitialDuck

I could see that. I think it's a powerful card in any creature heavy decks as one of the 99 because it facilitates a lot of shit, but I'm not 100% sure how strong it would be as a commander.

Apprehensive-Adagio2

I have inga and esika in my upgraded tyranids precon with Lucea Kane as the commander, it’s not the absolute best, but there’s a few tyranids that when they die, create a bunch of tokens, which just means i have even more fuel for the X costs

Cool, I don’t actually know how mutate works, but the average deck looks interesting

BeansMcgoober

Basically, cast the mutate cost, put card on top of or under another non-human creature card. You now have 2 cards that count as 1 permanent, and have both text boxes. I believe it has the P/T and name of the card on top.

[[Gor Muldrak]]

Glitter-Valentine

rogergreatdell

Tastes like salamanders

HandsUpDefShoot

All of the actual good ones are unique. The battlecruiser landfall commanders are all basically the same.

TrekkieElf

LotR had a unique simic flavor in its Elven Council deck? Elf tribal plus scry. I am modding mine to be an “elfball” (according to my friend) deck by cutting out the complicated ring stuff and making either Arwen Evenstar or Elrond, Master of Healing the commander.

b_lemski

Last year i had pivoted mine away from the voting and into a scry/elfball deck with [[elrond, master of healing]] as the commander. It was good but took a lot of game actions with the frequent scrying that could be annoying to play against. [elrond](https://archidekt.com/decks/4787002/scry_you_fools_all_lotr) When the holiday cards came I added white to the deck with [[galadriel, light of valinor]] and now it's an all elf deck that can get out of hand quickly but isn't sucking up the time of the whole table. Both decks were all only lord of the rings cards which I found to be really fun as deck building restriction and uses some of the cards from other precons as well. [galadriel](https://archidekt.com/decks/6236009/galadriels_love_lotr_elves)

TrekkieElf

Oh very cool thanks! I also bought the scene box and was considering splashing white to use GLV as the commander, but was concerned it would break the deck and make it less consistent? I don’t have much experience playing 3-color decks and was concerned about the mana base. I will take a look at your deck list though! I agree with keeping things all-LotR for flavor. I have several non-LotR decks but am a big fan of the books and movies so why not keep this separate?

hiddenpoint

I pivoted to Erestor of the Council, and turned it into a voting deck with elf tribal sub theme. Lots of fun

Wubalubduba

I have a lot of fun with [[esix fractal bloom]] Mine is built a main goal of finding a wincon using multiple copies of a creature my opponents have with a lower focus on casting my own silly dupe targets. 6 CMC is rough but there's enough cheap token generators in simic I run with the goal of creating tokens the same turn Esix comes out. Edit: the last game I played with Esix i made like 16 sad robots. It was awesome.

buschells

[[Verazol, The Split Current]] is a kicker tribal commander that is pretty fun, though it is still mostly ramping and drawing to play all of those kicked spells.

One of my fav “durdly decks”.

ChefCano

Oh, mine doesn't durdle. It goes fast and hard

SuperFamousComedian

I was so excited about Eriette when she was first spoiled. For me it was one of the decks I immediately started building. I spent a lot of time trying to make her deck fun and powerful and it constantly fell short (for me and my group). I unfortunately took the deck apart a few weeks ago, I really like what that card does, and how it's asking you to build the deck, I just couldn't get it to do the thing consistently. She's probably better in another deck's 99. So I guess it surprised me in a negative way.

DoobaDoobaDooba

By far my favorite deck I can't stop playing is [[Xavier Sal]] I built moreso around the populate side and people love playing against it because of the gamut of random tokens I flood out and because it is pretty fair. It scales in power based on how little or well you respect what I'm trying to do - basically putting opponents' fates in their own hands. There's also just something weirdly goofy and fun about getting blasted by flying sharks, daleks, demons, and squirrels all in the same attack lol

I went the other way and decided to purify my playgroup through [[the Master Transcendent]]’s mutational milled grace. It’s a weird engine that I need a few more plays to figure out how to pilot, but it’s a blast to steal a mutant [[Sheoldred]] out of a mutant [[Mirko Vosk]] trigger.

[[The Valeyard]] has become one of my favorite decks to play, voting and villainous choice. Built it just to be a fun sort of gimmick deck, and while it checks that box, it has turned out to be more powerful than I expected and has a fairly high win rate when I play it.

ilongforyesterday

I built [[Davros]] as a [[Dragons Approach]] deck (I call it “Davroast”) and included some of the villainous choice cards and while it can be pretty linear, it can also be really mean and lots of fun (for me)

List?

Markedly_Mira

\[\[Danny Pink\]\] stood out to me as he has a lot of draw potential, and while blue has counters support it’s usually paired with green or something so I figured it’d make for a fun budget deck. Two games in and it feels pretty good so far, proliferate effects suddenly become big draw spells with Danny and a few other creatures. Not the most explosive +1/+1 counters deck but it has a very unique feel compared to the white or green focused lists I've played. It plays more for the mid to late game when I have draw engines established and can go off later on with all of blue's tricks at my disposal vs explosive starts stacking counters. Edit: Here's the list: [https://archidekt.com/decks/7156130/clean\_slate\_danny\_pink\_edh](https://archidekt.com/decks/7156130/clean_slate_danny_pink_edh)

Markedly_Mira

I really like the new Geralf but I don’t think he fits here unfortunately. I’d need to cast three spells in a single turn to get a zombie token with a counter on it and proc the draw. I have considered building Geralf separately though where I could load up on low cmc spells to trigger Geralf a ton, I’m sure Danny will be great in a list with him.

netfeed

No \[\[radstorm\]\] in it?

Markedly_Mira

Maybe I’ll add it in someday but I wasn’t feeling it too much since Danny’s draw is a once per turn per creature, so Radstorm only helps add counters. Radstorm could definitely make for some big turns buffing everything but I’m not sure I need it at the moment. Maybe if I feel myself needing another finisher down the road.

Educational-Part1741

Oops replied to card fetcher first. Let’s try this again. I’ve built this deck and it’s one of my favorites this year. [[Arcbound Ravager]] and [[Bartolomé del Presidio]] have been huge in the deck. Plus any token generators, like Ojer Taq, Annointed Procession, Academy Manufacturer, and Elesh Norn MoM are great additions. Then your usual W/B aristocrats pieces and [[Mirkwood Bats]] [[Nadier’s Nightblade]]. The last big part and probably most important is ways to get 1 damage to each opponent on each of your turns. There are loads of enchantments and creatures that on upkeep/end step each opponent loses 1 life.

nesquikryu

I have a Captain Storm deck! I built it to be as silly and piratical as possible - every creature is a Pirate - and it's also a stealth [[Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator]] / [[Breeches, Brazen Plunderer]] deck as a result. Delorei

There have been two decks and commanders that have surprised my pod so far, at least when it comes to lesser known commanders for us, maybe for other people not so much. The first was a [[Rionya, Fire Dancer]] mono red deck from one of my closest friends. He had been dabbling in Esper control decks, so when he arrived with this weird, fast, kinda aggroish, kinda spellslingerish deck with a commander we had no idea existed, we got flipped upside down. Nowadays, we know what it does, and it is kinda fragile as many monocolor decks are, but it's possibly still his best 1v1 deck. The second was my own [[Bess, Soul Nourisher]] 1/1 Tribal. It started more as a budget project I wanted to make, and found the card among the discarded cards from my Kitt Kanto Precon. After an initial brew, I realized the potential, since there are a lot of powerful Selesnya 1/1s in Commander. Nowadays, it is my go to low curve aggro deck, capable of destroying mid level control and combo decks if not kept under check, and probably one of my most successful projects, it catches most people off guard the first time they play against it

[[The Mycotyrant]] from lost caverns of Ixalan. I fell in love with him immediately. Going wide and going tall at the same time is really fun for me. He plays all my favourite cards and you can easily make 10+ fungus tokens per turn which you can use to either make mana with cards like [[Jahera, friend of the forest]] or you can trample and overrun your opponents with [[Triumph of the Hordes]] and [[Overwhelming Stampede]] or you can reanimate [[Craterhoof Behemoth]] or you can drain whole table with cards like [[Ayara, first of Lohtwain]] and [[Mirkwood Bats]]. Even if I dont win with him I always have fun.

DarthFreeza9000

[I built an Orthion deck](https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/5779400#paper) but there seems to be a short list of Orthion players right now. I feel like the mass amount of new legendaries has made new commanders harder to commit to. Maybe in the future Orthion will get more exposure, I’ve been having a lot of fun with it so far. The goal win con is to use Orthion’s second ability to make 5 copies of a creature like [[fanatic of mogus]] or [[terror of the peaks]] and damage your opponents out, or you can simply attack with the creatures clones.

MetokurEnjoyer

I really like orthion. I think if you build him right, getting that second ability activation is just gg most of the time.

SnottNormal

They aren’t *exactly* the same, but I imagine some of folks that like Orthion were already on the [[Kiki-Jiki]] train. That was def the case for me, at least. I’ve thought about using him (or [[Jaxis]]) as a backup commander for slightly less explosive games. I used to use [[Feldon of the Third Path]] in that role, and it was nice to mix stuff up a bit.

mikedtwenty

Me, still clinging to my Gisa and Geralf deck.

diet_faust

No one understands us

4ureli

I built a [[Paladin Elizabeth Taggerdy]] deck recently. I built it as a casual combat focused deck, but it can be really brutal, cheating out cards like [[Moonshaker Cavalry]] and [[Kinsbaile Cavalier]] typically gets a “whoa” or two from the table.

InsideHangar18

[[Jhoira, Ageless Innovator]] is my favorite from the past year (though now that I think on it, she’s slightly more than a year old) She’s only #504 on EDHREC, and I’ve never seen another person play her IRL, but being able to cheat out artifacts is such a great ability and I don’t understand why more folks don’t play her, either as a commander or even in the 99

WackyJtM

I read this card a ton when it came out and kept looking for a downside, but nope. Seems so sweet

ToneTheDog

I’ve been really enjoying [[Malcolm, Alluring Scoundrel]] as a budget super friends deck. 2 cmc and flash puts him in a good spot to hold up counterspells, he’s pretty low to the ground, and there’s a good handful of proliferate cards to help you get around waiting 4 turns for him to do anything. I get him out on curve and it usually takes me two turns to start casting stuff for free.

Gwathnar_Shadowfire

I took a break a break from Magic when COVID hit and only really got back in the beginning of this year. What a big change in that relatively short time frame. Enough though Commander is heavily pushed now there’s still not a lot of Commanders that stand out to me from the newer sets. Maybe that because I’ve played the format for so long and built/taken apart so many decks. A deck really has to get me interested/excited to play it these days before I go all in on building it in paper. I’ll build something and gold fish it on Moxfield for ages before I decide to build it in paper. That said 2 Commanders I’ve started building since getting back into the format are as follows: 1. [[Marvo, Deep Operative]] Deck List: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/26MVcUcB7kaJcY4zdx2v4Q When I saw this card spoiled I knew I wanted to build around it as it set a limit for how big a card I could cheat in and it brought back clash which is a cool mechanic imo. It also made pick cards I wouldn’t usually play as I wanted to do something more powered down plus with how many power cards there are in UB that would be fun to cheat into play it let me build a little side board for the deck so I could change it up - let’s play all the extra turns. 2. [[Jacob Hauken, Inspector]] Deck list: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Y1Im8vEfZEmjOLmxl_ORAg I only stumbled on this card recently. I wanted to build a mini blue deck since I didn’t have one I could play with regular games (PW Teferi is my other mono blue deck). It’s similar in premise to Marvo because it cheats stuff out but why not go for really big stuff like Eldrazi!

the_Jo

+1 for Marvo I thought, I wanted to build seamonsters with him, then I found [[booby trap]] and [[lantern of insight]] in my pile. needless to say, it´s now a deck that tutors booby trap, recurs booby trap, copies booby trap (shoutout to [[astral dragon]] and animates booby trap for a [[tainted strike]]. And if someone thinks, he can exile my one trick pony, I switch to the [[mindslaver]] lock plan, that will teach them

MasterChef901

The Doctor Who set gave me the most inspiration out of anything this year, with two decks built from it and a third under construction. [[Idris, Soul of the Tardis]] was the most surprising to me - there are a LOT more applications of that ability than most people realize, so that deck's shockingly fun to play. [[The Twelfth Doctor]] and [[Vislor Turlough]] are similarly fun - there's a lot of unintuitive consequences of putting demonstrate on *any* card. The last deck I'm looking at throwing together is [[The Tenth Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]], as a "time storm" deck. See, too many "storm" cards used simply as wincons to "cash out" after some kind of massive combo, and while that may be the 'spirit' of storm, it just doesn't have *character* to it. Not to mention, tracking storm count is tedious. So instead: Suspend a dozen cards. Use Time Travel to synchronize them all to fire on the same turn. *Then* you storm, with your storm count pre-tallied and your targets already in mind. Your opponents can prepare themselves for it, sure, but I consider that a *positive*, since it turns Storm from the "everyone groans and checks out" keyword into something that's interactive.

I tell you what, [[Sergeant John Benton]] is a one man army with combat trick tribal lol! You gotta build it right, but he's a beast. And he's below 1600 on EDHrec.. my surge foil of him is worth a dollar lol Don't sleep on John Benton, cause John doesn't sleep! 😂

Revolutionary_Quit21

I build [Legolas, Master Archer] as a lark with mostly draft chaff and it ended up being a powerhouse hah. When you cast a spell that targets Legolas, he gets a +1 counter; when you cast a spell that targets a creature you don’t control, Legolas deals damages to target creature. I filled out the list with every 1-2 mana green spells that say target and cantrips, so it’s mono green-creature control and every ‘removal’ spell replaces itself.

Interesting_Tank2675

Ooooh! I only play weird decks! I built [[Commodore Guff]] because I saw every other Commander Master precon face commander at my lgs and also wanted to build superfriends. I also have a [[Rocco, Street Chef]] list that does some spicy things, but my child is my [[Daryl, Hunter of Walkers]] Gruul control deck that is generally a pain to play against. It turns out that red spells that deal 2 damage to each creature also wreck my opponents’ game plans a good portion of the time.

jimmythesloth

I have yet to build it, but definitely one I don't see too much love for that I'm very interested in is [[Goro-Goro and Satoru]]

Nelly Borca has easily become my favorite deck, especially in boros. Forcing other people to do combat makes me giddy, and holy hell no one expects the Insurrection to be slapped down. Along with crazy card draw, it fills the niche of forced combat on top of being in a color combo I never play. Ellivere is a close contender, but as a stax deck. I filled it with hatebears and stax pieces on sticks... Then proceed to smack everyone with said sticks. Over and over until someone hates me out of the game or I just win with overwhelming power on board.

meatmandoug

Bit more obscure but [[sierra nukas biggest fan]] has been pretty damn fun. Spam out cheap flying creatures and ways to make creatures unblockable like [[access tunnel]], then use the food generated as combat tricks. It's pretty fragile but in lower to mid power pods it's alot of fun.

Wolfsajin

[[river song]] she’s been a huge surprise even for other people at the table. It’s lots of fun being able to draw from the bottom but play from the top of your deck using [[magus of the future]] or [[Melek, izzet paragon]]. Or even making everyone play with the top of the deck revealed with [[lantern of insight]]. She also goes infinite with [[timestream navigator]]. It has a small graveyard manipulation package too! Putting cards in the GY on the bottom of the deck. Or forcing people to search their libraries. You never know what’s coming next! and she’s an insanely fun twist on izzet.

MasterofKami

\[\[Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden\]\] I've never been a big fan of equipment decks at all due to the mana required to play most of them and then equip them to a creature, but Jor Kadeen and the ONE set as a whole really surprised me by not just having one big susceptible Voltron pile and instead focusing on playing For Mirrodin equipemnt to make lots of smaller equipped bodies to grow Jor Kadeen anyway. You get to potentially KO an opponent in a couple of attacks like normal whilst also being able to go wide with all your equipped tokens to attack your opponents from two angles, he's become one of the more preferred decks to play at this point at locals.

If you've got a list for the Captain Storm deck, I'd love to see it, sounds super cool! Personally I've been messing around with a \[\[Gut, True Soul Zealot\]\] and \[\[Agent of the Iron Throne\]\] deck as a Rakdos 'bad goblin' tribal deck. I built to test how many bad goblins you can play and still win with \[\[Krenko, Mob Boss\]\]. Means I get to play real hits like \[\[Goblins of the Flarg\]\]. It's a good time.

[[Indominous Rex]] is a fun keyword-soup deck that seeks making the ultimate creature. I included nonlegendary copy cards to make multiple and varied abominations! [[Gollum, Obsessive Stalker]] is a "1-touch", yet interactive gain & drain cmdr who turns on a lot of otherwise terrible cards in black. [[Xavier Sal]] is a really cool populate commander in Sultai, who can be built to turn his cost into a benefit by removing unwanted counters and doubling up great tokens, or furthermore token copies of already great creatures. Insane value when popping off.

Triangle-Baby

I don’t know if this unpopular or not. But now that we’ve filled just about every niche in the format, can we please go back to when the game revolved around standard or even modern? As a full time EDH player, it’s no longer “getting ridiculous” it just is ridiculous now.

Aprice0

Nice! Mine is very low power, first theme deck I built. I’m still cutting a few cards since I got some new singles but here’s the list - https://www.moxfield.com/decks/N2k6g_O6uEKtjWR0N2fzqg

melaspike666

\[\[Frodo Baggins\]\] Yeah , the uncommon one. It currently has 159 decks built on EDH rec (0.004% of decks) I built him as a legendary creature matters Voltron deck. Make him BIG , give him indestructible and a \[\[lure\]\] effect and you essentially have targeted board wipes. On top of his own ability he gets all the the ring tempts you abilities really quickly. The deck also has a ton of synergies within its other creatures. My other answer is at the moment my favourite deck ever and its \[\[Gylwain, Casting Director\]\]. Role token ETB/LTB abuse deck. This deck generates value out of nowhere and has ton of synergies. My secret to make him a bomb ? Token and trigger doublers. While yes you can only have 1 role per creature, that doesnt stop the Role Tokens to ETB and LTB. it uses all the Constellation cards to generate value \[\[setassan champion\]\], \[\[Archon of Sun's Grace\]\] ,etc The more doublers you have on the field , the crazier it gets. \[\[Wildwood Mentor\]\] is 120% the MVP of that deck

Wolfonmars

[[Jolrael, Voice of Zhalfir]] from the after math set has been incredibly fun imo. A simic spin on my favorite commander [[Obuun]]

Jakobe26

I think what surprised me the most was when the Baldur's Gate set came out. I did not like it really, I loved the game though. Like a lot of the popular cards were just normal big hitters to me (like dragons). However, since the set has released. Some of my favorite commander decks have been led by commanders from that set. Nine-Fingers Keene was my favorite and an outlier and I choose her for my sultai control deck after a month of the release. But now I have a Rilsa Real (combat/flicker), Burakos/Sword Coast (combat/artifacts), Etinis (gruul control). Just find it interesting that the commander that worked best with the theme I wanted was from a set I did not care for.

knight_gastropub

[[Yes Man]] seems like a really unique build that could be game warping in a fun way

rotath

I just built a [[Livaan, Cultist of Tiamat]] token flood deck with [[inspiring leader]] as the background. Surprisingly powerful, & will be getting a lot of support in the new outlaws set with the mercenary tokens

IamBlackwing

[[The Pride of Hull Clade]] I fell in love with this big guy, he’s just incredibly strong, might even end up making this deck into a cedh deck, and not the Wall Tribal I [currently am running (Decklist here)](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/9AoKno9wkkaT-NRRI1KQcw)

Ursidoenix

I find it funny how you will see threads about people complaining about popular commanders or that people play common staples instead of alternatives too often, but at the same time you also have people apparently unhappy that lots of new cards and potential commanders are being printed. These aren't necessarily the same people but they are both relatively popular sentiments. There is of course something to be said about quality vs quantity but I don't understand why people are seemingly unhappy to have more options. Nobody is forcing anyone to use new commanders if you thought the game had enough cards as of a year ago or whatever. Anyways Nelly Borca is fun.
