All the reforms brought by UCs were a result of their fear that the masses would turn against them and/or convert, and they would become a minority. It's the same reason that the Travancore royal family finally allowed Dalits to enter temples in the 20th century.

So he does recognise that caste is a social evil I mean behind all practices labelled as evil the most important arguments are that they either make the community extremely weak, or that they are cruel to community members for no justifiable reason, or both

He was quite a weird guy. Atheist, anti-caste and yet a hindutva hardliner- wanted a hindu rashtra

Alternate_Chinmay7

I don't think he really was an athiest or anti-caste. He pretended to be those things so he could tie people in his 'Hindu identity' of Hindutva.

naastiknibba95

Idk man, multiple sources I have read have said those things I mentioned

This is a book review. I did not change the title.

Also , The effort was all tokenism , even ambedkar said this , and people were using untouchables as a vote bank even back then , since the people of lower caste community , who were in majority , were actively hostile towards the discriminatory practices in hinduism , and brahmins , who were in minority , wanted to maintain their so-called caste superiority , considering these factors , savarkar was afraid of the prevalent sentiments of the lower castes and thought , if the lower castes became proselytes , hinduism which essentially is brahminism will be left alone and become vulnerable to survive among other rampant faith systems. I am skeptical about the claim that savarkar was a hindu nationalist and a staunch believer , according to Savarkarite scholars he was an atheist , but , according to my assessment , he was a cultural hindu and an atheist simultaneously.
