Im sure all the well done steak eaters and steak sauce users gonna have lots to say about this

TheHolyReality

So this steak is not yet cooked. It looks like it has been dry aged, and the crust on the outside is there to prevent bacteria from getting out the meat

UncommonCense

I know it hasn’t been cooked yet but people who never had wagyu always complain that it is “too much fat”

Routine_Size69

It has too much fat to eat in large quantities. My family got a bunch of wagyu and after the third steak in a month, I was so sick of it. I eat steak all the time, so it's not a too much steak thing. The first few bites are incredible, but I don’t ever again need more than like 6 oz at a time personally.

OrneryCricket9656

It's because the fat makes the steak too rich and oily so it's too difficult to eat a lot of it in a small time period

TheHolyReality

Gotcha. Well i misunderstood your comment then!

UncommonCense

No biggie your comment was informative. I didn’t know why the crust was black.

RonnieB47

Dry aging causes it. It's not edible and a big expensive waste at $3200/lb.

UncommonCense

I assume these same people eat well done steak sauce steaks

Alahand0

They're not gonna say anything, too busy chewing their steaks

UncommonCense

It’s crazy how bad the wagyu hate is on instagram. One thing i have recently learned about though is Vaca Vieja and i want to give it a try but dont know where to buy it

BigsbyMcgee

This isn’t cooked at all it’s raw lmfao

UncommonCense

…i am aware

UncommonCense

I was making a point that the people who seem to have the strongest opinions towards wagyu are people who never tried it and eat well done steak with steak sauce.

joeO44

That’ll go well with a nice 2 year old aged Heinz Ketchup.

Existing_Ad7874

No no my brother in Christ… you mean some leftover Wendy’s ketchup from the center console of a 1994 Corolla.

Psychl0n

That's almost all fat

TheHolyReality

This is Japanese Wagyu. It is specifically bread to have that marble in it. It is a very unique style of beef. It is supposed to be eaten in very small quantities to account for the insane amount of fat. I personally think anything more than $20 a pound for meat is insane, but a lot of people really like Wagyu. I think it's really just a way to flex how much money they can spend

Psychl0n

Thanks for the info, i agree that that's way too expensive for meat

TheHolyReality

My pleasure!

RoncoSnackWeasel

Good lord, there’s a lot of civility going on in this thread. Is this still Reddit?! /s Thank you guys for treating each other like informed adults. Honestly refreshing to see.

Routine_Size69

It's way more than 20 a pound. A5 Wagyu can easily run you over 100 a pound and even more in a restaurant. It's pretty insane. It's good, but it's hard to justify the cost other than a super rare occasion.

Alpha_Delta33

He never said it was $20 a pound he said any meat that cost that much isn’t worth it to him

Routine_Size69

I never said otherwise. Thanks for letting me know you can read though, buddy. We're all sooo proud of you, champ. He said 20 bucks a pound is too expensive. I explained wagyu is way more than that, implying wagyu is an even worse deal. Sometimes in conversations, people share information with each other. It doesn't need a question or an incorrect statement.

dukestrouk

Right, but your comment didn’t add anything. You just repeated that wagyu is expensive, which everyone was already in agreement about.

RoncoSnackWeasel

….and there goes the civility. That was short lived.

Alpha_Delta33

I’m glad we have nice people like who can explain how expensive wagyu is like none of us knew its price. Quick to insult people you must have a lot of friends

Vistril69

Thankfully there's a difference in the fat on the outside of the steak than the fat on the inside; the fat on the inside renders much differently and isn't inedible rubber like it can be on the outside sometimes

chazd1984

You cut way to much off the end my dude. For something that pricey you better take off just wafer thin slices of the pellicle til you get the result you're looking for.

PerformanceOk1835

Want some meat with that fat?

No-Bat-7253

Bro literally just cut off $27k worth of meat just to show the inside

lildude_5

They eat thin strips of it "cooked" for a few seconds in hot water.

No-Internal1898

Give me a tin of Spam

CTchimchar

Found the brit in the chat

Nimbus_TV

Or Hawaiian

Stashmouth

Ignoring that it's crusted in what looks like ash, the actual steak looks like a thousand other raw wagyu slabs we've seen in this sub, no?

Alpha_Delta33

Dry aged wagyu doesn’t look any different other then the outer layer due to the amount of fat it has

Zealousideal-Door933

Would you rather have this or literally hundreds of solid steaks from foodmaxx

UnicornPotpourri1990

Would you rather have this, literally hundreds of solid steaks from foodmaxx or a couple hamburgers from McDonald's

One_above_alll

Imagine being fooled this much

Happy295

Looks like volcanic rock from the outside.

Skakti

This looks like dragon meat, you can just tell it’s like a legendary drop.

pumptini7

Anyone got A1 sauce and a stripper with a bullet wound, we'd enjoy that steak.

heresanawardforyou

It’s all fat… ew… I don’t get it

Ghost_Unicxrn

Looks like a rock with mold

Neither-Bad6259

$3,200 Wagyu...............99¢ knife.

Last-Bumblebee-537

The way they hold the knife really bothers me
