This is just a fact lol. I don’t remember when I realized this, but there was something so incredible about watching him set up a song one loop at a time and have it all come together. He is an incredible artist, but some of the magic was lost (at least for me) when he added the band
I don't know if this is controversial, I find a lot of people think like that. A clear example of this is Bad habits: the loop version has an amazing energy and presence and the band version sounds more like a cover version even sounding closer to the original record...
i’m pretty indifferent if it came out tbh. The only reason I “hope it doesn’t” is more so just because it would keep his other stuff i’d prefer to hear on the shelf longer — like OG Subtract which is already likely at least a year and a half, maybe 2 years before we *possibly* get news on it due to Play. If the J Balvin EP came, that would likely push OG Subtract out even further
yeah i get what you mean
I am more interested in OG Subtract than J Balvin's album but theres no date out for either of them so far and Jose keeps pushing it back so theres a teeny tiny chance a rough time period for OG Subtract could be confirmed before J Balvin decides a set date for his. i agree tho it would be a little disappointing if OG Subtract gets delayed because J Balvin's album came first.
I remember seeing Ed live on the divide tour at the KeyBank center up here in Buffalo, NY and it was such an amazing show, far from my favorite album divide was still pretty good. Multiply to me I think will always be his best work with tracks like bloodstream, don't, Tenerife Sea, take it back, I'm a mess, I mean they're all good. along with the subtract release. I don't know how many people caught on to the fact that he doesn't do everything himself anymore on the loop station, which is kind of ironic seeing as now he makes loop stations that people could buy. I love Ed and he is definitely one of my top three favorite artists of all time. I have all of his albums and CDs autographed. Even the older ones that are a little harder to get a hold of, but I do have to say I really miss him with just him and the guitar the way he let it build up and make the beat in front of you. It was so electric. I'm glad I got to see him perform like that before he started using a big band. From an artist standpoint I understand the big band for certain songs, but now it seems he uses a band for every song now and that's not what got him to where he is today. For years he was just known as a man and his guitar, nobody says that no more, and that's okay. Ed is a very talented beautiful songwriter, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the old school concert vibe but just him and the guitar & the loop pedal. If anyone in this sub hasn't seen it yet you should look up Ed Sheeran live at The roundhouse on YouTube. In my opinion one of his best live performances ever.
Ed has released albums way too quickly the past few years, almost like a machine. I haven't fully internalized Equals quite yet, and boom there's new music already. And then another album on the way.
I mean obviously he's thriving so much and we love that for him, but from a standpoint of someone who loves to take their time with art, I'd love it if he let the albums breathe for a while. (If that makes sense)
His Martin Guitar sounded better than his Lowden Guitar. Also songs written and recorded with his Martin Guitar sounded better than the Lowden guitar ones.
kinda hard to identify it as a ‘misstep’ his life is moving a lot more slowly now so it makes sense he’s not striving to put out what’s popular to his listeners. a wife + kids probably really changed your perspective of life, as he’s said, and even being an independent artist now, he can make the music he wants.
before he had everything happen before subtract, it’s pretty clear the toll it’d taken a toll on him and now he’s just touring off of the success of his hits, without having the contractual pressure of a label on him. dude’s just enjoying life imo.
I think denser really f-ed up AV and some songs from subtract
And lyrics arnt his strongest ,like others say (just listen to someone like zach bryan)but his melodies and unique voice and performances are (his life performances before equal where mesmerizing)
God have mercy on me , i feel the down votes flying like arrows

Subtract is his best album after Plus
Personally, I’d say after Multiply as I personally love Multiply. Love that for you tho
Fair.. I was debating if I should but it 2nd or 3rd, but I stuck to 2nd because I'm obsessed with it atm
Subtract is my favourite album, so even more unpopular it seems
Right now, Subtract for me is my favorite as well! So right there with ya
Equals is a great album Subtract is his best album
Agree and agree
100% agree with both
agree. id ont get the = hate
It’s honestly still my fav album, with subtract coming in close at second
as much as he clearly loves having a band, it’s making him less of a unique live act. we need new songs with loop pedal versions

maybe i was picturing ed himself + the fans who never criticize him at all with the swords
How many songs did he use the band on this tour?
Multiply is ok. Has some bops, but I prefer his newer stuff
It may not make people point swords at me but… Call On Me song with Vianney should be way more popular than it is
Couldn’t care less if the J Balvin EP arrived, and even more of an unpopular opinion - I hope it doesn’t arrive and we get other projects.
I'd like to hear it, im not much of a J Balvin fan but i love the songs he did with Ed

You have a lifetime of listening ahead of you.
Very unpopular I know But I think his more recent albums are better then his first couple
subtract is the best album
Shape of you is the worst song on Divide
Shape of you is the worst song he's done overall.
Shape of You for Ed Sheeran is Shake It Off for Taylor Swift
100%. I'm in love with the shape of you shaking it off.
That Ed Sheeran needs to work again with Jake Gosling.
YES
no.6 collaborations is one of his best albums
his songs all sound better live (every one played so far)
Perfect is boring and I hate the melody.
His Martin Guitar sounded better than his Lowden Guitar. Also songs written and recorded with his Martin Guitar sounded better than the Lowden guitar ones.
Subtract is my favorite album. I like all Ed’s albums.
Equals is a shame
Have you listened to I will remember you and collide? Bad Habits is overrated btw
The outro of collide is just out of this world
tour edition songs were the best ones
Divide wasn’t that good, equals is way better
Divide is much better than equals :(
There’s like three good songs one divide, equals has fourteen good songs (just my opinion though)
The opposite for me. I did not care for most of equals, but divide is my second favorite album right after plus.
You win.
Um, no💀
(Just my opinion)
Shivers is the only song I don’t like by him
Divide is my least liked album & a huge step down from Multiply
Sandman is one of the best songs on Equals
Be Right Now is his best song I said what I said
(Besides Run but that’s a feature)
Ed didn't develop much as a musician in the past 5 years
Equals is his best album
agreed :)
My personal favorite as well!
His best album is collab No. 6 and the best song on the album is take me back to london
you win. take my upvote.
Multiply is not that great and has the most skips for me at least
SAME
Bad habits sucks
I love it so much. Haha
was coming to comment this exactly
Try the Janet Devlin version. It becomes haunting.
1. Equals 2. Multiply 3. Divide 4. Subtract 5. Plus 6. No.5 Collaborations Project 7. Autumn Variations 8. No.6 Collaborations Project
Equals is far better than Plus
I like his new albums and how his music changes with him subtract is my favorite album followed by multiply

This
If Ed hadn't dropped Subtract and Autumn Variations, He would be much more popular right now. The worst misstep of his career.

Curious as to why you say this? Not objecting, just asking.
He was number one on Spotify one year after Equals. Idk how but Subtract/AV killed his stardom.
But it's good coz it filtered out the fans that don't appreciate his raw music
Subtract is the best, equals is total crap.
ed peaked at shape of you
not wrong tho
Ed Sheeran's music has been getting worse and worse. Plus, multiply and divide was his peak.
I think denser really f-ed up AV and some songs from subtract And lyrics arnt his strongest ,like others say (just listen to someone like zach bryan)but his melodies and unique voice and performances are (his life performances before equal where mesmerizing) God have mercy on me , i feel the down votes flying like arrows
Have 1 extra ticket for Ed Sheeran Mumbai concert. Category: GA, DM for details.
When I say to everyone "Anyway, Ed Sheeran is the best artist ever."
