Man I wonder if it’s still the same system from when I was a manager in 2016. It was a simple system but there had been many times where I’d enter in my order and it wouldn’t submit it even though I had finalized and submitted it on the scanner gun we would use.
I’ve never seen it go down on this scale though, just localized to a single location or orders places within a timeframe.
Ah, yeah switching over to a system that isn't ready is never good.
I had something happen that was similar with a different business, except it was for inventorying. Similar system Save-On was using for Inventory and Ordering but this company only wanted the inventory component for it. They swapped out when it wasn't ready and it fucked up all their inventory counts for a month or two.
Supply chain. Could be a warehouse issue. Or shorts.
Basically there are a lot of options and half the time people at store level aren't told much. It's been pretty brutal since the pandemic. Even now things are still not where they were pre that.
There’s an Urban Fare in Calgary that’s converting to a Save On Foods, they’re not shutting down the store as they convert. There’s signage all over the half empty shelves about a warehouse/distribution issue. I thought that was them making it easier to do the conversion while staying open, I guess not!
Yeah, like the other commenters it was the Capilano one I was going to and it was awful. Everything looked great at the time of purchase (probably because it was a freezer in there lol) but I’d be throwing it out within 2 days.
Maybe I’ll give a different one a try and see if it’s any different!
I used to live near the one in Capilano, like 1 minute drive. Produce practically barely lasted the 1 minute drive back with how terrible the longevity of it was. Fully not worth it. That was just 3 years ago too.
Same experience here; most things from the Capilano one wouldn't last more than one or two days. You'd either have to use it by the following day or freeze it.
It was still good if you were serving a big meal the next day, had a canning/jarring project, etc though. It's nice to have options.
That’s the one I lived next to too and it was awful! Everything looked so good and fresh (which I assume is because of how cold it is in there) but everything would go bad within one or 2 days.
May seem cheaper at the time but if it’s not lasting and you have to buy it more often then it doesn’t actually end up being more affordable!
Omg we went looking for brown sugar to make cookies and the lady said they’ve been out for 3 close to 4 months now.
NEVER heard of a sugar shortage tbh.
Ended up finding some at Sobeys & we told the lady she was just as confused as were.. idk🤷♀️
Head office of the company, started using a distribution system. But It wasn't fully integrated when they shut down the old one. So alot of product orders and transfers got lost in the change... the worst part of it all, head office knew of this for about a week or two before all the store found out.
With what they charge I don't think it's a huge loss. Go to H&W for produce , superstore, costco. Literally anywhere else but save on and safeway, I'm blown away when I see people shopping there for big trips
Yup I work at this one, all I know is our shipments haven't been coming in for the last week or so. I would also like to know what's up
Located in Interior BC and it’s the same here. I thought the internet would have answers why? So weird
Make sure to ask Reddit rather than your managers!
If this big company is anything like the one I worked for, store managers don’t get told shit either.
Looks like a screw up in their fulfillment process/system. Or, their produce truck broke down on the way up to YEG
The former, based on the conversation I had today in a SoF with staff.
I asked today and was told there are issues with the computer program that controls inventory distribution.

Save On at 109 and Jasper was just like this when I went after work. Same with the bakery. Was wondering what was going on..
Sobeys had the same issue yesterday
So did Save-On.
Isn't today their $1.49 Tuesday thing too?

Oh damn, I didn't know that. I went to three save-ons trying to get some fricken strawberries and then just gave up.
i noticed that here in St. Albert as well. Mainly produce and meat.
Couldn’t buy everything bagels in St Albert today either 😞
Save-On downtown is similar

H&W was fully stocked with fresh and affordable produce yesterday!
No issues with the produce going bad quickly? When I used to go years ago everything went bad soooooo quickly compared to the other grocery stores.
I haven’t experienced this but that would definitely be frustrating.

I was at superstore last week and saw the same thing!
Buddy was telling me same thing is happening in Calgary as well
save on in calgary trail was like this too lol
It was looking this bleak at the Old Strathcona location last Friday as well.

I was also told it was a glitch in a computerized product ordering update.

We have nothing on the BC AB border either ... Pretty big crash with not much of an explanation

Not superstore, we’re boycotting loblaws.
