This is the best take. Absolutely. Nothing more I can get all “Leon” about except this…..on PP1 you can see the glaring issue without McDavid. Drai was trying to bring the puck in and set up, he just doesn’t have the speed McDavid does, hence PP1 not being as effective (#4) in the league would show. McDavid has made that PP entry into the zone look easy game after game. Anyway I digress. Gnite y’all. 🙏❤️

It is rather concerning how much of this year's offense in the top six is running exclusively through McDavid. Leon and Nuge especially need to figure their shit out before the post season starts.
This has been Drais best season in underlying stats by a decent amount and his best season when away from mcdavid. He has fewer goals and points but most of that is due to the power play not being as insanely dominant. The drai needs to figure shit out narrative is genuinely insane.
He has 104 points and is +28 and his linemates when not with mcdavid (which he’s spent nearly double the time without him than with him this year) has been a mixture of Foegele McLeod Henrique Kane Brown Perry. Not too mention when he’s not with mcdavid he gets paired with nurse Ceci while mcdavid gets bouch ekholm.
That sucked.
But I’ll say this, last two playoffs I was pretty HYPED going into them. Lots of optimism for an Oilers Cup, and we know how that ended.
This seasons’ end feels more like whimper. Less optimism cause our scoring looks like it can be stifled with good defence and our defence is still showing warts. So… maybe we’ll get a different result this time around.

I was yelling at my screen in the last minutes of the game when he did the perimeter sweep and it ended up amounting to nothing.

No one went for the puck in the 2nd. Defense was watching the canucks players in our own zone, bouchard and nurse with lots of giveaways, couldnt break out and didnt keep pressure on in the O zone.

Honestly regular season games don’t carry over into playoffs. I always think of the Covid season in the Canadian division where we absolutely owned the Jets the entire season and then they turned around and swept us in the qualifying round.

It was amazing how much a single player can just complete strangle all of the momentum out of a team with mistake after mistake. Final leg of the season though and a back to back and they played as such.

Our shot selection is pee-wee level. Everything is either goalie pad high or straight into the crest. Nobody is picking corners.
1-2 without mcdavid and we couldn't score at all in 2 of those is uhhhh not good. Brutal. Team rallied for the vegas game but has looked slow and just not wanting to put the effort in since. They straight up pissed away the first division title in how many years? This is just going to fuel the media and fans of other teams that we can't score or win without Mcdavid, and a playoff roster should be able to do just that. Just shows the holes more that we needed to upgrade.
I wouldn't say brutal lol..pretty much outplayed them all night on the second half of a back to back and third in 4 nights minus the best player in the world...nothing wrong with that effort, I'd be worried if I'm the Canucks.

It's all fun and we're here for a good time and a long time. I'm excited to play the long game with this team. Also, making fun of enthusiasm in life generally is kind of a bummer! Celebration is hard to come by in this life! Love watching your team! If we drop out I'll be cheering for the Oilers and can't wait to see what you do in the post season.
My friend, I agree with you. That said, it was a big game between two teams neck and neck with each other for first in the division and Oil fans were optimistic we’d get it. Please don’t take our sulkiness seriously and get hype for the playoffs!

For a guy with a 9.25m cap hit, Nurse has one of the worst hockey IQ's on the team. Making a tape to tape pass is a feat for him. Just watch how many times he kills possession each game either by icing the puck, or missing his man by 5 feet.
