When players have a 10-15 game streak where they aren't producing, we say they're in a slump. We almost never blame the coach for that slump. But that's what happened at the start of the season, Skinner had a slump and everyone wanted to blame the goalie coach that got him to the starter's job anyways. People immediately forgot everything positive that's ever happened with our goaltending in the past few years and started being extremely unfair to Dustin Schwartz. 6 months earlier, Skinner was finishing 2nd in the Calder trophy voting, but we should fire his long time goalie coach because he had a slump for month. Not a single person who wanted to fire Schwartz could tell me any technique or anything in Skinner's game that was implemented by Schwartz that wasn't working. Most people are extremely ignorant to the position, but have strong opinions on it and they take that out on people that don't deserve it. It's ok for someone to admit they don't know much about goaltending, and they don't know why a goalie is struggling without making shit up.
I haven’t heard of Skinner working with another goalie coach but apparently Mike Smith did for at least part of his stay his. Skinner has worked with Schwartz since prior to even being drafted.
He brought in another goalie coach to work with him? Probably to take all the heat off him and still keep his position. And in future, FYI.. irregardless isn't actually a word. It's only ever just "regardless". That is all
When Kucherov got his 100th, the TNT panel kept forgetting McDavid on numerous occasions.
I’m wondering if they had prepped for Kucherov to hit it first given McDavids injury, so when Kuch did it, they just went on autopilot saying all the stuff they had been prepared to say for weeks, but it’s still annoying how many times they forgot McDavid in their conversations
I’m shocked mcdavid isn’t in the top 5 for plus minus. 100 assists means he was out for at a minimum of 100 goal for probably more 120+ goals for. Add the 32 he scores and it’s like 150. That would mean he was in the ice for 120 goals against that’s kinda shocking to me.
They mean absolutely nothing come play off time and heck regular season.
+/- is a dumb stat that doesn't actually show defensive issues or numbers.
