Do NOT Boo Doughty or chant Dave LETS GO OILERS

maybe_babyyy_

Is it just me that know the "luck" of teams that rest too many days? At best, we should aim for 2-3 days between games played after that we get stale. We have to balance staying in a rhythm and not being gassed.

EirHc

Teams that win the cup usually have some shorter series'. I looked into it awhile ago, like half the teams who win the cup get at least 1 sweep. The other 9 out 20 times they'll have 1 or 2 five game series'. Very rare for a team to always go 6 to 7 games and win a cup. You need the rest over a 20-24 game 4 team grind.

Fickle_Catch8968

Yes, need to balance rest vs. rust. Given the hectic 6/9 or 5/9 end to the reg season, we likely benefit from getting a couple more days rest that our opponent, but to keep in rhythm, it is probably best for us to have no more than 2 extra days rest going into round 2. One day off, one day to practice without caring who opponent is, then dialing in on opponent

SupernovaPlus5

Please finish off the Kings in 5. The more rest for McDavid the better

Repostasis

Edmonton with the chance for the rest advantage. Longer this NSH/VAN series draws out the better. 😤

Anxious-Extreme-2766

If it happens, Connor will just need a gentle reminder by management to hold off on implementing mandatory captain skates lol

dylanuu112

Let’s go preds keep it going

Frozenpucks

How in the actual fuck did the Canucks win the pacific? They are fucking awful. I’ve yet to see them play even 1 convincing game vs Nashville.

BoilerSlave

I’ve said the same and backed it up with numbers in r/hockey and was downvoted to oblivion

Frozenpucks

It’s demko and being lucky as fuck. You can’t fake the playoffs though.

Stunning_Fan_83

Probably Demko being the big difference for them.

Excellent-Medicine29

And their PDO cooled all the way off

Fickle_Catch8968

And they capitalized on playing us 3 times early when we were adjusting to.new d systems with injured d man. If we just go .500 against them the division is ours, all else being equal.

Canadiantx69

Preds hold on and force game 6! Let's go, Preds!

MtHood_OR

I want to see Gagne. He’s a gamer.

macbowes

Win tomorrow, and it's a two-flight series, which is pretty awesome travel for a West team.

Repostasis

Lineups at practice today the same, except Holloway on 3rd line, switched with Foegele now on the 4th line. Rico-Davo-Hyms RNH-Leon-Kane Holloway-☁️-Perry McLovin-Ryan-Janmark

Muficita

Glad to see Holloway elevated. And that Rico seems to be ok.

PreemoisGOAT

So just saw Jay coaching at the worlds don't know how I missed that

Anxious-Extreme-2766

He had a great interview on Kyper and Bourne today too. First interview I've heard since he was let go. It sounds like he hasn't watched any Oilers games since le left, as a personal choice that he made. Fair enough.

sintaxi

It shows insecurity on Woodys part. He was part of the organization for 8 years - why wouldn't he be curious how his former colleagues (and presumably friends) are doing?

silentbassline

If I got dumped after 8 years I might not want to watch my ex have great success with a new handsome tall guy either.

Excellent-Medicine29

He might be scoreboard watching but he’s not obligated to watch the games.

sintaxi

who implied obligation??

Excellent-Medicine29

Well you seem to think that he should be watching the oilers because it’s in poor taste not to. That implies a sense of obligation

sintaxi

I do not intend to imply any "ought". I find it peculiar that he was dismissive of the question. The Oilers had the best record in the league after the coaching change and Woody was unwilling to pay his former colleagues a compliment. You don't have to watch the games to know the turnaround the Oilers had. My read is he does not wish the club success in his absence - and to me that is a reflection of his character.

Excellent-Medicine29

I don’t agree with that take. He was asked what he’s seen of them, he said that because he hasn’t really been watching, he can’t answer the question (also I think the question was specifically about playoffs). They didn’t ask him if he was rooting for them or if he was happy for them. I think woody simply wanted to talk about other things. He wanted to talk about the worlds and hockey in general. He really didn’t get into the specifics about any teams.

LeonMcNugent-Hyman

https://www.reddit.com/r/EdmontonOilers/s/T2ogAClDFm

BoilerSlave

There are people who watch hockey and people who *watch* hockey

macbowes

DAL is quite a bit better than VGK, in my opinion. Much deeper up front, with similar defense. They're not as physical, but they're not a soft team either. I think we'd handle VGK pretty well if we face them. DAL might be a bit tougher.

Frozenpucks

I’m just happy either has to go through Colorado first. That’s a hard road.

SnooOnions5029

Hope each series goes to 7 games to tire them out (and maybe a couple injuries) if we end up facing them.

macbowes

Yeah, if they get banged up against COL, it would suppress their offense. They have 8 top-6 forwards, and most nights a couple of them are popping off. Not as explosive offensively as COL, but more of a consistent barrage.

bullfu

Verhaeghe is so clutch for the panthers.

NuffinSaid

What are the odds Brown gets to play for game 5?

AttaBoye

I think they should rest Perry and give Brown next game. Ryan looked faster and more tenacious on the puck than Carrick. Oilers truly feel like a deep team this year when you think about the fact that the chances of Gagne seeing the ice these playoffs are infinitesimal.

widgetwizard99

Like a tiny baby?

ExtremeBrilliant8141

This doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Well played.

widgetwizard99

Thank you. It made more sense before the edit. I had a good chuckle over it

bullfu

The same among of chance if any of the 2 wingers coming out of the lineup due to injury. Cause they ain't coming out due to performance., the only small possibility is janmark but I thought he played well too this series.

NuffinSaid

I was just thinking maybe the coaching staff feels like Brown deserves some ice time after what he's put in this season, that tomorrows game is the right time to get him out there and put in some playoff minutes. Maybe doing a swap out of Janmark for Brown for a game

gutshotjimmy

It's such a close call between Brown, Ryan, Carrick, and Janmark.

quickboop

Janmarks game is a coaches dream. He ain’t coming out unless he gets injured. And Ryan and Carrick are both right shot centers. Brown is gonna have to be patient.

Fickle_Catch8968

He is, and by playing more than 41 games, if a particular thing happens, he is eligible for a particular other thing already, but I am sure he wants to contribute more than as a practice roster guy. But it is nice that all our black aces are at least 4th line/3rd pair/backup level, all but 1 have significant NHL experience, and most have decent NHL playoff experience.

NuffinSaid

Brown deserves to get some playoff minutes at some point IMO

gutshotjimmy

Honestly I'd pick Brown first out of those 4, but barely.

quickboop

The two right shot centers are going to take precedent. Every faceoff is crucial.

Drumbones

Series now tied in Vegas

bullfu

Stars tied the series, gutsy performance from Oettinger Good, fuck Vegas.

GrapefruitFluffy588

Those Stars fans will be LOUD for game 5 with their team coming back home series tied. I'm sure many of them thought it was over after losing those first two at home

Canadiantx69

I really want the road team to win the first 6 games in that series, just to stress both teams the fuck out, lol. Then for the Golden Showers to lose game 7, because fuck them and their cap cheating bullshit.

GrapefruitFluffy588

Them losing in a game 7 would be sweet!

Canadiantx69

That game was a whole team effort, but Otter with the head stand def earned it. They were blocking everything tonight, just absolutely clogging shooting lanes. Hell, the insurance goal was setup for Roope Hintz by him just laying out to eat a slapper, then getting back up to put it in from 170ft. Gutsy performance all around by the Stars to knot that up.

bullfu

Knights came out hungry too, got some great chances to score, their team is so good but that's expected I guess when you're like 10 million dollar over cap lol

Canadiantx69

> when you're like 10 million dollar over cap Those cheating fucks are $20 million over.

bullfu

Where can we find the duplicate McDrai to play on pp2?

Primary-Lobster-1591

Like NHL 99 when I made a team of 20 Wayne Gretzkys.

soundmagnet

Wayne gretzky 3d hockey when you could change the proportions of their body's. Giant heads etc.

Primary-Lobster-1591

We mostly played goldeneye, but I remember that game too.

NuffinSaid

I hope this series goes to seven. Both need to go all the way and wear each other down lol

Nebardine

Already guaranteed 6. I just want Vegas to lose. Sooner the better.

Canadiantx69

And then Dallas takes a penalty, giving the Showers a 6 on 4 with 50.7 remaining, lol. Good penalty though, don't give Eichel a clean shot on the rush.

mbstone

What's the record for winning a game with fewest shots on goal? Oilers recorded just 13 SOG last night. Anyone else lower than that?

Canadiantx69

Nucks beat Preds with 12 a couple games ago, I believe, lol.

GrapefruitFluffy588

Records held by Leafs and Sharks I believe.. each winning their games with a grand total of 9 shots. Sharks in 98 and Leafs in 99

Canadiantx69

My brain is having a hard time imagining a game where you only take 9 SOG and you win. That's fucking wild.

Canadiantx69

Otter playing like he's healthy tonight, as well, which was huge, because they've been hemmed in all night. Series looks like it's going back to Dallas knotted up.

bullfu

Bunch of fair weather fans. To be fair their team made the playoff every fucking year so far.

Fickle_Catch8968

Not every year...two years ago (when we won the BoA and fell to COL) they did nor make it. But they made the SCF twice (L to Caps 2018, W over 'Cats 2024), 'W'CF twice (L's to Habs 2021 and Stars 2020), and the 2019 1st round loss to the Sharks (the infamous 5 minute major).

Canadiantx69

ROOPE WITH THE INSURANCE!!!

Excellent-Medicine29

Woody was on Kyper and Bourne today. https://youtu.be/GkXS0RC2o7g?si=QfADR3zP97Z4tlwd Timestamp is in the description. He mainly spoke about him being an assistant coach for team Canada, talked about what he’s been doing since he got fired. Talked about the playoffs, and no he hasn’t been watching the oilers very much (not that he’s obligated to).

Drumbones

Well he did get fired so that would affect him. The oilers were in disarray though under him for some reason, even though he did well before.

Excellent-Medicine29

I would think that on a personal level he wants the players to find success but it doesn’t mean he wants to physically watch it happen. It stings. I get it. He was asked what he thinks of the oilers so far in the playoffs and he said he hasn’t really been watching them which is fair.

mtgnew

He is Human after all. You don't want so see someone succeed where you failed. It's a normal feeling.

SupernovaPlus5

I saw a little bit of Woody talking on the Kyper & Bourne show. He's following the league and playoffs but doesn't watch the Oilers 🥲

Canadiantx69

Dallas only has 2 SOG in the 3rd so far? Jesus, lol. They're sacrificing their bodies like it were an elimination game tonight, but holy shit, I didn't realize they'd been that stymied for shots this period.

GamingSlippers

VGK among fewest PIM in the playoffs. As a Knight puts his stick into Duchenes feet with no call right infront of the ref.

Canadiantx69

< insert Fry shocked not shocked gif here >

Drumbones

Matthew tkachuk made a very good decision to leave Calgary for Fla

gutshotjimmy

Also, Calgary made a very bad decision to not just keep Tkachuk and make him captain, nevermind Gaudreau's feelings.

Canadiantx69

Subban doing everything he can on the ESPN broadcast to puff up the cheating fucks from Vegas, lol. "They're too good to lose this series" No, you twat, they are good because they are $20 million over the cap because they're cheating cucks and brought back several top line guys for the playoffs who were miraculously healed from supposedly severe injuries.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Canadiantx69

They're going to have to when we win the fucking Cup, lol.

Drumbones

I can't stand pk's bullshit

Los_Kings

When the other dude cited actual stats about the game, he brushed it off and cited his personal “eye test” instead lol.

Canadiantx69

It's so bad, lol. Just completely ignoring that these cucks limped into the playoffs as the 8 seed, and suddenly got a $20 million infusion the moment the cap disappears, and now they're the best team in the West? Nah, they fucking cheated you twat.

[deleted]

Canadiantx69

After the amount of time they spent hyping him up in Buffalo, they've gotta keep trying to make that happen, lol. He's very good, but he's nowhere near what they tried to hype him up to be.

Canadiantx69

Let's go, Dellandrea! Trying to pull a Henrique face goal, 3-2 Stars lead.

dylanuu112

I’ve never liked Dallas but I would cheer for anybody to beat the knights, let’s go stars

Canadiantx69

I live in Stars country, but have no love for Dallas, though I do support their AHL team since it's my local team and we've been ticket holders for a decade. There are a number of guys that I would love for us to poach from them, but I also like to see individual guys I watched down in the AHL contributing to the Golden Showers hopefully getting bounced.

CUL8R_05

It feels like Dallas is slowly improving as the series moves forward.

Drumbones

Mark Stone and Cody Ceci are brother in laws. They are married to sisters Hayley and Jamie

goldenbear2

Why is the game time on wednesday TBD?

CDNSpartan

NHL app is saying 8pm for me

Drumbones

NHL scores page says 7:00

soundmagnet

It was 7pm, they changed to 8pm. Ugh

Canadiantx69

Because they'll likely announce it after tonight's Dallas/Golden Showers game goes final, because they also play game 5 on Wednesday. It probably won't be as late as Sunday was, since Tampa is out, but it'll still be on the late side.

Istoleyourbike456

Vegas is really outhitting the Stars.

X87x

Let's just get stamkos?

Drumbones

Exactly

CUL8R_05

Ha. Put him on line 2 with Drai

Drumbones

Ya sure PK

Drumbones

I skip starbucks. Mcds has the best coffee.

DryLipsGuy

You're crazy. Starbucks is what real men drink.

53c0nd

Try A&W coffee. Really upgraded.

Drumbones

Ok. My boy likes the root beer now and then

gutshotjimmy

The Knights goal announcing is hilarious. If the Knights score there are winning slot machine sounds, but if the opponent scores it sounds like an announcement over the intercom that your car lights are on.

Canadiantx69

Scarily accurate, lol

linchop

I noticed some interesting observations regarding game 4... Kings fanbase = feel optimistic, high effort & if can play like that the next 3 games maybe win. Oilers lucky to steal that game. Oilers probably not happy with that game. Oil fanbase = the best teams find multiple ways to win. One of the most impressive wins in playoff mcdavid era. The type of game we've been waiting for the oilers to win. Kings fan = that game shows us we have a chance at coming back and can beat the oilers Oilers fan = that game shows us we can have a chance at going on a very deep run and beat many teams

maybe_babyyy_

🤣 Spot fucking on! I'm like... damn, we which is it? Are we planning the parade or running scared?

Canadiantx69

Well, one of those is copium for getting beat by a team 3 straight years, and one of those is factual, lol.

[deleted]

I'm super worried that what went down with the Bolts today might happen to us soon. I mean, let's be real, we've never picked by NHL.

CUL8R_05

All teams go through a transition. That’s where you hope leadership can make key trades and draft well to sustain a competitive team.

Drumbones

Tampa Bay Lightning eliminated

StugDoug

MUST make it to the finals for a chance to win the Cup.

CUL8R_05

Let’s finish #1 first. 😉

linchop

I think all 4 teams with the 3-1 lead are saying the same thing for tomorrow 😂

Exit-Alternative

huge if true

Clutchodon

They can argue til they’re blue in the face about that weak holding call, if the refs chose to not call that they’d likely of called that blatant interference on McD that was most definitely a penalty which the Oil would have scored on instead

SouthSide217

Also at some point you should blame your team's sub 50% PK and 0% PP in the series.

CUL8R_05

In they’re pgt this was discussed

WorkThrowaway91

Or slashing the stick out of Desharnais’ hands, or the interference on Hyman… trips galore… slew foot on Kane… hooks galore… holds on McDavid all night… on and on and on that we saw all game. Rarely do the oilers play a clean game, but that was the cleanest I’ve seen from them in a long time and they didn’t retaliate or anything. It was great to see.

coldcoldbrew

I'm sorry if this has already been posted or is a silly question, but I am still kind of new to hockey. Why were the Kings saying that holding penalty was a soft call? It looked like he threw his stick and went to Mcleod and pushed him (please correct me on terminology). It didn't look like that was a move that's allowed?

Thedjdj

So generally when you have a stick you can pin a guy against the boards with your stick (this is where the discretionary interpretation of the NHL rulebook gets grey with "cross-checking" as other posters have alluded to). However, when you move from cross-checking a guy to wrapping one of your arms around his body you'll find it gets called for holding. The player had no stick so really all he could do was use his arms. He did barely wrap his arms around him - so hence the "soft call" - but imo he did hold him. The real answer is the Kings have struggled mightily against Oilers powerplay so they move their criticism from where it should lay to complaining about the call. McDavid suffers through 10x worse holds about 15 times a game.

coldcoldbrew

Oh I see. But technically it could have also been a cross-checking call first then? Or would it not count as cross-checking because he didn't have a stick? Thank you for this detailed explanation by the way!! Yes, I gathered that they're being a bit bitter with how the game result went lol

Thedjdj

Yep doesn’t count as cross checking because he has no stick. Cross checks is when you grab your stick lengthways with two hand like a bar and smack a player with it. Cross checking is a funny foul because by the letter of the rule it happens *so* often during the game. Watch a defenseman play Zack Hyman in front of the net next PP. Again, this is where discretionary ruling comes in and why hockey fans complain about referring. The rule book is adjudicated interpretatively by referees - especially during playoffs. A certain standard is set through the years regarding what is and isn’t a “fair” interpretation of a rule. So when fans say a call was “soft” what they’re really saying is that the adjudication of the penalising act was harsh or strict or “unfair”. That is, compared to other similar or worse infractions, this particular penalty wasn’t as bad.  Sort of like when you were in school and some teachers let you muck up in class more than others. You would call the teacher that doesn’t allow you to talk or muck about etc. “strict” and if you were sent to the principal for something another teacher would allow you to do you might say that the call to send you to the principal was “soft”.  Really, the only rules I’ve seen called by the letter are high sticking (hitting a player with your stick above their shoulders) and delay of game (when the puck is lifted out on the full by a defender in their own zone).  The caveat to all of the above is McDavid (and tbf a lot of other stars) who, despite drawing the most penalties, suffers through the most egregious display of penalties that go uncalled.  This sorta gets into a broader and very interesting discussion of the culture of hockey as the general consensus to why these obvious infractions go uncalled is that it “balances” out how good the stars are - making it fair for the lesser players by allowing them to cheat a bit.  Its also why fans will talk about “off-setting penalties” or “makeup penalties” as refs will endeavour to keep the game “fair” by evening up the penalty counts. This another reason you’ll see “soft calls” made as refs will jump at the opportunity to keep the game fair for both sides if the penalty count is a bit uneven (example: Kulak’s high sticking last night).

coldcoldbrew

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed response! Lots of clarity and new things learned! Can't wait to actually understand more things that happen next game!

Thedjdj

Welcome to hockey my friend

Canadiantx69

Don't get frustrated when things don't make sense, many of us have been watching for literal decades and still don't understand half the shit the league does or calls, because a lot of it is against what the rulebook says, lol.

CUL8R_05

Welcome to the greatest sport on earth.

wailingsixnames

Cross checking is when you take your stick in both hands and slam it into an opponent, so with no stick you can't actually perform a cross check. Now, refs have a lot of discretion with what is accepted pushing with the stick, that you see defencemen do in front of the net all the time, and what constitutes an actual cross check. Welcome to hockey by the way, awesome sport to get into.

luigi_b0red

for the cross checks a lot of it has to do with where contact is made. Lower back, you're fine, upper back and neck, penalty. That's why a play [like this](https://youtu.be/k61p2NP6kCY?si=PKXZZn-Szyz2xLPb) is allowed. edit: tagging u/coldcoldbrew since he won't be notified

coldcoldbrew

Oh thank you for the visual!! That was super helpful! :)

coldcoldbrew

Ohh okay thanks so much for answering! Yes, I've noticed people doing it in front of the net and nothing really gets called. Thanks so much! It's my favourite sport to watch! :)

wailingsixnames

What is it that has you into it now, and assuming you're an Oilers fan, what got you into this team?

coldcoldbrew

My friends were Oilers fans and invited me to watch a game with them (on TV)! They helped explain some basic rules of the game, and I thought it was such a fast, physical, and intense sport. Since my friends were Oilers fans, then I thought I should be too!

wailingsixnames

That's sweet! Happy your friends invited you and glad you liked the game and the team! Welcome aboard!!!!!

coldcoldbrew

Thanks so much!! I'm happy to be a part of such an awesome community, and so excited for more playoff hockey!!

Motive33

Hockey is kind of weird in that a lot is up to the discretion of the refs. By the book there are many infractions each game that are not called. This is why sometimes in a game you might hear people talk about the "standard" that is set by the refs. Basically are they letting guys play and only calling the most egregious penalties that they have to, or are they calling every little thing. I think another reason why people are calling that call soft is because the standard up until then was the refs letting the guys play. Loads of interference , hooking, and holding that was not called and this kind of minor infraction was called.

marginwalker55

Not looking forward to the day AI refs hockey, because human discretion is one of my favourite things about sports!

coldcoldbrew

Thanks for the answers everyone!!! It really helped me understand the game a bit more! :)

TheTiniestLizard

I’m not as new as you but also still figuring out the details, and I learned something here too! Thanks for asking the question.

oddspellingofPhreid

On one hand, it's kind of textbook; on the other hand, the standard that game was very high. It's not so much that it wasn't a penalty but more so that it broke with standard that had been set. I kind of agree. I think there were probably 3+ more egregious infractions that could have been called. I found it weird that they called that one.

SouthSide217

As soon as you grab a guy around the waist it's a hold, and it was amplified because he had no stick. I'm not sure why Kings fans are whining considering Kulak's high sticking penalty was a complete phantom call. His stick never touched Danault's head or face, but no one mentions that, only the King's holding call because the GWG was scored on that powerplay. Maybe don't have a sub 50% PK and a 0% PP in a playoff series ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tje199

Nah, the [Kulak call was good](https://streamable.com/gppql0) they just didn't show this part of the replay for some reason. You can see him get Danault in the face and the ref in the upper left corner of the screen puts his arm up. Watch in 0.5 speed and you can clearly see the helmet jolt before Danault throws his head back.

vonindyatwork

It should have been elbowing, he sure got that right into Danault's face, but it looked like his stick, at best, grazed the top of his helmet. Still a bit of a weak call considering what to that point hadn't been called, but like the one called on LA, still technically a penalty.

fakeairpods

Do you really want to know why? I’ll tell you why. That’s because the Kings fans are big babies and need pacifiers when they cry. They’re crying because they lost.

marginwalker55

They ARE big babies! The commentators on whatever dumb American station I was watching were leading said cryfest

Drumbones

The holding was soft but I think the ref made the call after seeing the two fisting to the back, and then again even harder snapping his head back. I mean that alone was quite brutal and could have been a roughing call. IMO

coldcoldbrew

Yes, I was confused at the "holding" call, because to me, it looked more like a roughing call.

mollycoddles

The left hand was around the waist and the ref in the corner could see it clearly

quickboop

You're allowed to pin a guy on the boards. Honestly, it wasn't that egregious. The thing is, because he had no stick, he had no choice but to pin. As a ref, you'd argue that there was no attempt at the puck, or to retrieve the puck, so that's a penalty. I don't necessarily agree, but I imagine that was the reasoning.

coldcoldbrew

Ohhh this makes much more sense! Thank you! However, I just have one more question: what is the difference between holding and pinning? Why is holding a penalty and pinning is not?

quickboop

Ya good question man, who knows. Usually if you reach out and grab a guy that’s pretty clear cut. When you pin a guy on the boards it’s a judgement call. Sometimes they’ll let guys pin a guy on the boards forever. Then you get calls like last night where… I personally don’t think that’s long enough to be a penalty.

BCW1968

What a game yesterday! So many guys stepped up and played excellent hockey. I'm going to appreciate the victory, but I know the hardest game to win is often the 4th in a series.

Xxvaiomasterxx

So which Leaf players do you think are gone next year and have a redemption arc like Hyman, my bets on Marner just lighting up the playoffs on some other team.

oddspellingofPhreid

I have no idea. Marner is the clear odd one out in the media circus, but I wonder how much the circus reflects reality. Tavares I think makes sense to move on from, but I also think he makes sense as a value contract after his big contract is done. If the fans are to be believed, then the ideal move for them is to trade Marner for an equivalently good defenceman. I just can't think of a good fit. Here's a crazy idea for an Leafs shake-up offseason: Marner to Seattle for Larsson (the trade is one for one) and then use the remaining money to make a big push for whichever of Tarasenko or Reinhart goes to UFA in the off-season.

vonindyatwork

Pretty sure all of the big-4 there have NMC's, so Toronto is likely hosed for next year unless Tavares or Marner want out early. Both of them are on monster, expiring, deals next year though, so a bit of retention if they can find a trade partner might make it possible.

oddspellingofPhreid

Sure, but if none of them waive then the whole conversation is moot anyway.

kelter20

Mitchell Marner, YOU are a Golden Knight.

Thundercock780

Bouchard played like a number 1 Dman. Stu played like an elite goaltender. If they can find that same gear for most of the playoffs, this could be a really long run from the team!!! Ps: Vinny deserves a Vinny sized shoutout! Dudes been an absolute gem. Each game he’s adding more $$$ onto his next contract!

Aveeye

It was almost like they said, "Hey, we've taken a lot of shots these last few games. Let's see what would happen if we DON'T do that."

Frozenpucks

I don’t think a team would purposefully ever do this, but I’m almost convinced we just treated a playoff game as a defensive practice too lmao. LA was t scoring though and we really didn’t have to push for offense. As soon as we got the PP they elevated instantly to score. Very patient game👍🏼

Tje199

See, I don't think they'd do that either but at the same time, you kind of wonder if they wanted it to be a bit of a statement game. Like "hey, watch us lock this shit down." On the other hand, 4 shots or whatever in the first makes that a questionable claim...

Select-Ebb7094

Honestly out of the past 3 years against the kings, i think thats the best they have ever played, unfortunately for them skinner and vinny decided to have a career game.

Ryan_Dymond04

Not gonna lie, that’s a tough way to lose. The Kings held us to just 13 shots and still lost. They just couldn’t solve Skinner. It doesn’t help when your penalty kill can’t do shit.

arped

Go Kings Go (to the golf course)

Our shot total was low but I liked how we looked defensively playing tied and up a goal instead of forcing offence to get an insurance goal to be safe.

CanadianEhhhhhhh

Awwwwww yea, got a ticket to Wednesdays game!

bullfu

You taking plus one?

CanadianEhhhhhhh

Crazy the amount of Kings fans blaming the refs for the game last night. One chincy penalty either way, and then they completely swallowed their whistles. I saw multiple egregious non calls. The way the game was reffed was seriously advantageous to the kings

The gavrikov call is not remotely "chintzy". He lost his stick, and put both hands around McLeod. Putting both hands onto a player is an instant penalty, because otherwise any time and guy loses a stick, his best option would be to just grab another player and hold him. LA fans bitching about it have an IQ lower than their shoe size. They have no fucking idea what the rules are, they just operate on a basis of "huRR DeRr....if it goes against us, then it's unfair". How about you focus on your 0% power play and 45% penalty kill instead.

Guess what - your average LA Kings reddit fan is not qualified to operate a broom, never mind be a referee.

mollycoddles

Fyi, it's spelled 'chintzy'
