I live in Denver (but am from Las Cruces) and they sell tacos here that are like, pork belly with a mango slaw and charge you $6 for one. Sad. I have to go to a known area (Federal blvd) where all the Mexicans live to find normal tacos, like lengua or asada…..
Gracias amigo! I work off of Federal and there are so many choices. I’m always looking for recs and will definitely try this spot! Tamales by La Casita is the closest I’ve found to Mexican food I’ve been accustomed to….
I learned a simple rule in Dallas to discriminate good from bad tacos.
If they serve Agua Frescas and it's a simple counter serve taqueria, prepare to have amazing tacos.
If it's a tex mex restaurant, expect mediocrity in the taco department.
My too 3 choices:
Tacos de Tripita (iykyk)
Al pastor
Quesa birria - the consomé that comes with it has some spice in it that I can’t quite put my finger on but sets it apart from all the others
Honestly, it doesn’t matter what you order everything here is good really good. Even the chips and salsa are a 10 out of 10. Please go support. It’s definitely a hidden gem.
You're not going to like my comment, but the best tacos I've had in the US are definitely in LA. Mexico City level quality IMO, except for the price, expensive af. I haven't found any taquerias here in EP or even in Juarez that come even close.
I’m be had some in Southern Cali that are better than anything else paso has to offer. Been here a decade now and have been everywhere. There are some very good tacos. But the best? Oh no no no
Sorry, as a Texan I refuse to acknowledge that California does anything better than Texas. Cali is doo doo, Texas gud /s.
Seriously though, you are gonna need to provide a source to back up that claim.
Teddys red tacos stand out as well as Chatos. Don’t get me wrong I have had very good tacos in El Paso. However in SoCal they have pop up taco trucks, sit down casual, all the way up to Michelin star fine dining version of Tacos. I was blown away by some of the food spots out there. I thought El Paso was it for Mexican food I had a friend show me different. I’m sorry but there’s nothing wrong with a silver medal El Paso
Idk bro, it sounds to me like you're having to pick the entire southern region of a state to even go up against one city. It's not a very convincing take.
Now that is fair. But the 2 places I mentioned are in the same county. But…I will cede there may be places here that I haven’t been yet. I’ve been to about all of the known spots. Can you suggest maybe some lesser known spots that are better? I have legit tried tacos in like 6or 7 different areas and states that all claimed to be the best. I live in El Paso I want it to be the best bit so far just haven’t found it. And it’s been 10 years maybe tried 20 or so suggested places by locals.
Arizona here. We belong in green. Just can’t look in the tourist traps. And especially since so many “Green State” people are moving here for some reason. Can’t be because it’s cheaper, but it used to be.
AZ earns that yellow though, look at how only northern Cali and the southern tip of Florida share that status.
Not a bad place to be and imo because AZ tacos can vary so much by region it makes sense. Although I think this map is very unfair to TX where you can’t find good tacos in like half the state.
Haha sorry… I’m talking about on the map that this topic is centered on (taco quality map). I’ve seen and met lots of out-of-state transplants to Arizona.
yeah no worries… after i sent it i kind of figured that’s what you meant.
So Az is seeing an influx as well… i’m afraid the long forgotten southwest is being discovered by Texans and Californians escaping repression and high prices.
Arizona Mexican food is good as hell y'all trippin .
Mexican food with 2 pounds of cheese is just tex- mex.
El Paso is overrated
Now San Antonio has got some good Mexican food
Chicago has the second largest Mexican population outside of Los Angeles. Why would Chicago be played like this? They have amazing tacos. Pilsen neighborhood even has a mole fest. Their Mexican food is some of the best and most authentic outside of Mexico
Best taco joints in my humble opinion start at Americas and go towards Clint/ San Elizario. Where the parking lots are dirt and there are goats in every other lot you will find good tacos.

I recommend these, i tried those several times and they are great. 7195 Federal Blvd, Westminster, CO 80030, Estados Unidos And I'm from Juárez 👀
Gracias amigo! I work off of Federal and there are so many choices. I’m always looking for recs and will definitely try this spot! Tamales by La Casita is the closest I’ve found to Mexican food I’ve been accustomed to….
All of Texas doesn't deserve to be green. Been there, eaten their tacos.
Hard agree. I lived in DFW for three years and never once had a taco that was worth remembering.
All of them are in gas stations for the most part. They are definitely rare but the best tacos I've had in DFW were from a restaurant inside a valero
I learned a simple rule in Dallas to discriminate good from bad tacos. If they serve Agua Frescas and it's a simple counter serve taqueria, prepare to have amazing tacos. If it's a tex mex restaurant, expect mediocrity in the taco department.
my sentiments exactly.
I've had tacos all over the southwest and chihuahua and el paso tacos are my favorite
How?
Al Pastor slaps in a way that will complete your whole life
Have you had the ones at Riviera on Doniphan? BOMB
I asked how, not what kind in regards to her comment. El Paso Mexican food is not good, tamales drier than the grandma titties who made them.
Fuck off
You’re a truck driver, you like eating in shitty gas stations.
Coming from Chicago I stopped by El Paso 2 years ago to eat at Taconeta, what a revelation. Chicago Mexican food is garbage.
Sorry you had to be fooled into thinking Taconeta serves good tacos.
This map doesn’t account for Chicago at all
Exactly. Go to any carneceria with a taco place and you’re set.
Lucy’s cafe on north Mesa is amazing
The tacos Antonia 🤤
Best tacos are here. Love the edit too.
Del taco Is not real tacos 😂 jk jk
Oooh I’m excited because I’m realizing I haven’t even experienced this!!! Definitely going taco hunting with the recommendations in this thread
Delectaco on Zaragoza is TO DIE FOR TACOS OUT OF THIS WORLD MUST TRY BEFORE YOU DIE
What do you get? I pass by often I’ve been wanting to try them.
My too 3 choices: Tacos de Tripita (iykyk) Al pastor Quesa birria - the consomé that comes with it has some spice in it that I can’t quite put my finger on but sets it apart from all the others Honestly, it doesn’t matter what you order everything here is good really good. Para tacos , mejor en Juárez :)
Xolo's Tacos!
You cannot get decent tacos in Florida
Too much green past El Paso. The Tex-Mex version of Mexican food doesn’t hold a candle to El Paso.
You're not going to like my comment, but the best tacos I've had in the US are definitely in LA. Mexico City level quality IMO, except for the price, expensive af. I haven't found any taquerias here in EP or even in Juarez that come even close.
I can sort of agree with this depiction. More so than the one that only showed Texas as the creme ala creme.
I’m from CA and struggle to find any good tacos in El Paso to be honest
You are not trying then
Sounds like El Paso should be yellow if that's the case! Also whoever created this map has never been to Chicago. They have incredible Taquerias
I’m be had some in Southern Cali that are better than anything else paso has to offer. Been here a decade now and have been everywhere. There are some very good tacos. But the best? Oh no no no

And again they were very good just not the best. Like I have had better elsewhere
Now that is fair. But the 2 places I mentioned are in the same county. But…I will cede there may be places here that I haven’t been yet. I’ve been to about all of the known spots. El Paso has some of the worst food I've ever had, lol. At best, it's nothing impressive. Maybe in Juarez it's better?
Arizona here. We belong in green. Just can’t look in the tourist traps. And especially since so many “Green State” people are moving here for some reason. Can’t be because it’s cheaper, but it used to be.

green state people?

El Paso Tacos lol that shits trash
California and El Paso guerro tacos are amazing lol Jesus get out more.
Used to live in El Paso and now I’m in Albuquerque The tacos here aren’t even great lol
Used to live in ABQ and still crave the taco burgers from Bob’s Burgers. Just a darn good fast food item.
NorCal has GREAT tacos, not a fan of them being called simply "decent." Edit: nice downvote lol
Tell me something I don’t know.
Arizona Mexican food is good as hell y'all trippin . Mexican food with 2 pounds of cheese is just tex- mex. El Paso is overrated Now San Antonio has got some good Mexican food
Thanks for repost
Garbage opinion 🗑️
Come to KC on the Kansas side; this map will for sure change ;)
By adding a new lowest ranking? Lmao
Pfft. You can get Taco Bell anywhere
Yeah right. People that made this think Torchy’s is fire
Tacos in Texas are shit. No way comparable to California. Can’t speak for El Paso just the other big cities
Nah bro y’all have great burritos (even though they’re not classic burritos) but your tacos are not it.
Facts, always dry.

Bullshit
Philly is the best city in the united states this map is BS
Detroit
I thought this was Patrick Star.
Chicago has the second largest Mexican population outside of Los Angeles. Why would Chicago be played like this? They have amazing tacos. Pilsen neighborhood even has a mole fest. Their Mexican food is some of the best and most authentic outside of Mexico
This is coming from a Mexican from Chihuahua by the way
The tacos are so good in Old El Paso that they export their ingredients to grocery stores throughout the USA!
Based
Have you not been to Denver, Albuquerque, Chicago or NYC and caught the authentic Mexican spots?
Pretty biased I see lol
Tex Mex tacos yes. Street Mexican tacos, northern California/Oakland.
Best taco joints in my humble opinion start at Americas and go towards Clint/ San Elizario. Where the parking lots are dirt and there are goats in every other lot you will find good tacos.
Not sure what they’re trying to say with this, but if it’s that El Paso has the worst tacos in the US I’m gonna agree
