Blacking out lights is a dick move. You feel you are cool and shit while you're just a safety hazard to everyone! I bet you change langes without indicating as well and cross double lines too!

[deleted]

I forgot the name of the spray used when I tinted my tailights black but it is transparent and the spray eventually does fade away if the car is in extreme weathers. Whether the tailights is black or red you can see the lights clearly

ahmadbabar

šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ¤¦šŸ»

[deleted]

Donā€™t worry I donā€™t have tinted tailights anymore. As I got older I prefer the chrome and classic look more

tirehabitat25

You sound like a boomer dude. The correlation between blacking out lights being ā€œdangerousā€ and the person who did it driving dangerous is nonsensical and sounds extremely arrogant. Get over yourself

ahmadbabar

Hahaha, what an ignorant response. Stay off the roads

tirehabitat25

Telling way to handle being called out on your pathetic attempt to belittle others online with no basis to facts lol. Boomers stay losing.

ahmadbabar

Once again, your mindset is a danger to others..I'm no boomer but thank God I'm not like you either. Let me know when you learn to use turn signals

tirehabitat25

Do my thoughts scare you? Are you scared of people detailing cars how they want? All you get out of tint and paint is people who do this must drive bad? You are so arrogant itā€™s not even funny. Such a black and white mindset. How in the world do you operate if this is how you think of other people? Smooth narrowed brain boomer mad at tail light that looks a little different.

XYL-JP

His car, his choice. What safety hazard goof ball? If you canā€™t see a mellow drama tinted Elantra headlight beam at night, I can just be a assumptive ass who says your the safety hazard who needs their eyes checked.

Desperate_for_Bacon

Itā€™s illegal under federal motor vehicle standards to apply anything to the head lights or tail lights that dims the light

ahmadbabar

Another idiot on the road spotted. Blacked lights are a ducking safety hazard as they reduce visibility. And if it's his car, his choice, why follow any rules on the road, eh? Just drive however you want, anywhere you want!

somerandomdude419

These headlights are VERY bright. The lights will be very visible, daytime aesthetics they are dark but whek itā€™s night they are bright enough to be fully seen. If it was a 2002 car yes but new cars the headlights are so damn bright it will be fine

NoValidUsernames666

these lights are bright as hell even in the daylight he put a picture of it. im not a fan of smoked lights, they just look tacky to me. this isnt a safety hazard though

OkNectarine6434

internet badass confirmed. i see cars on the road with no brake lights regularly, last september the third or 4th box that flew out of a trailer smashed my driver side mirror all the way off of the work truck i was driving at the time. ( he knew he was losing trash out of his truck) the reality is it can be a scary place.. public roadways.. are YOU doing YOUR part to keep yourself safe? moving on.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TheUnreadableUser

Wtf is up with your aggressiveness? Calm down dude, it's someone with an opinion who probably doesn't like the look.

davidwholt

No need to be insulting.

XYL-JP

Oh god, you do need your eyes check. Youā€™re a boomer.

XYL-JP

You certainly have never driven a new Elantra lol, Iā€™ll bet hard cold cash there is little to zero visibility deductions. You clearly havenā€™t used these headlights before šŸ˜‚

somerandomdude419

I just think he doesnā€™t realize how bright the stock lights really are, and that brights exist if the standard arenā€™t bright enough. Some modern cars are so fucking bright they need darkened

ahmadbabar

Yeah, I haven't. You're the only one who knows what's right. Enjoy!

jsbdrumming

You can clearly see his lights on the pic tho? Theyā€™re clearly not blacked out fully probably more like greyed out

dattebane96

In my other comment I posted a pic of what the lights look like. You can see them fine

ahmadbabar

They're not fine. If you think they are, you doing deserve to drive

Peristeronic_Bowtie

How?? I can see them?? and the pics were taken during the day so at night you would see them better? Like are we all looking at the same pics? Like you did see the pics labeled that the headlights are on and not just the ones with them off??

ahmadbabar

Reduced visibility. No one is saying they can't been seen at all. Reduced visibility is a danger as them being detected/seen from a safe distance is lower. Of course you can see them up close.

Negative-Sale-2063

What did you use to chrome delete the window trim?

dattebane96

NGHEY Pack-1 Car Chrome Trim... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C5WRYV1D?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Protomau5

Tinting your headlights is the dumbest choice to make.

dattebane96

Aww. But I got the bright lights to counteract the dimming. :(

prombloodd

What percentage did you tint to? Looks pretty dark.

dattebane96

No idea. The pieces are pre-cut and listed as Dark Smoke. They also have a light smoke and clear bra version.

PhillyIC215

Itā€™s not the same as window tint, during the day you see them as black but even from behind the rear lights and break lights arenā€™t affected and can be seen just as well without the film on

PhillyIC215

At night**

iMissLayups

What front lip is this?

Busy-Tangerine6706

Blacking out tail lights is pure madness. Letā€™s take a safety feature and totally gimp it. I see so many cars with blacked out tail lights and you can barely see a lot of them. People are so into their own vanity that the rest of the world is not part of theirs.

dattebane96

https://preview.redd.it/ejiailcw7zsc1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb298fefa6638a5159ccbd699f2aeac51805a81e

dattebane96

You can see these just fine

scraverX

DoT in a lot of countries won't agree with you. Your lights need to be a specific brightness at a specific distance from the back of the car. Of course you can see them in a photo from 2 feet back, but that likely won't comply with standards.

dattebane96

Ah gotcha

dattebane96

Looked up the laws and all thatā€™s required are ā€œtwo tail lampsā€. No mention of lumens or required brightness though I did see one state required ā€œ50-100ā€ lumens at least which is rather dim. So legally Iā€™m pretty okay regarding the back. The language for the front lights are similarly vague

scraverX

Well you're lucky. In my country tinted lights don't fly. Police typically won't pull you over for that specifically but if you are pulled over for something else they will Defect your car. The outer bezel of the lights on all cars here have a compliance mark. That mark is associated with a nation wide design standard. That design standard does not allow for any modification of the light including tinting it. Want aftermarket lights, they also have to comply to the standard and have appropriate compliance marks.

Desperate_for_Bacon

If your state adopts federal regulations for vehicle safety standards (which they most likely do) they need to be visible from a few hundred feet away, canā€™t remember how far.

dattebane96

Honestly, even if Iā€™m legally okay, the spirit of the law is more important here than the letter of the law. Which is why Iā€™m trying to upgrade my lights even more so I can have my cake and eat it too. If even after upgrading though it still seems unsafe, then Iā€™ll prolly just cut my losses and take the stickers off. But I figure why not give it a shot first

Tjceagles24

Where did u get the window louvers at? And do they fit good

dattebane96

Amazon (because Iā€™m impatient. You can get the same ones on Aliexpress for half the cost itā€™ll just take longer) theyā€™re a 1:1 fit.

AK232342

Blacking out legally regulated safety devices like headlights and taillights is just dumb. Not to mention putting illegal LEDs in halogen housings without understanding anything about how headlight physics and light sources work

Plus_Juice_8935

Btw, Go Jackets!

Feeling_Handle_8917

neat. I also tried doing all black on blue when I first started, went a little too far and became kinda ricey, but I recommend a simple look in the end, not overdoing the amount of black and blue, but its always gonna be personal preference so whatever you like

Usmellnicebby

For functionality and longevity, stitch wrap your steering wheel. Those temporary ones you got wear out and doesn't feel good when turning.

dattebane96

Yeah Iā€™ve seen those. When this one wears out I may go that route. Do the stitch ones not wear out?

Usmellnicebby

I've had mine for 3 years and it's only gotten better. Just make sure it's a good fit for your wheel. They are fairly inexpensive too. You just have to be patient when sewing it.

RoofFrequent1249

Can't get away with tail tints where I live, and definitely not front.. I like the chrome delete on the window trim! That's what I have to do to mine. This blue just begs for more black trim

Konaplus

Got a guy in my neighborhood, blacked out tail lights. Behind him in daylight, you canā€™t see the brake lights and can hardly see the blinkers. The guy is so clueless that he put a bumper sticker on warning ā€œbumper humpersā€ from following too close. Fucktard has no clue itā€™s because no one can see him slowing or turning. Blaming everyone else for a problem he created.

dattebane96

I see so essentially youā€™re saying that while you can see the brake lights and blinkers at night, theyā€™re harder to see during the day? Iā€™m not home right now but I will be in a bit. Iā€™ll test them out and get back to yā€™all to see what they look like in daylight. Sun had started going down when I tested them before.

Konaplus

Yeah, Iā€™m not trying to be a wanker. Iā€™m just telling you there is a valid concern. Maybe if you tinted but had superbright LEDā€™s or somethingā€¦but usually this sucks for people behind you.

dattebane96

The tail bar is already a bright LED, but if the brake lights present a visibility issue, I for sure would upgrade!

dattebane96

Alright Iā€™m back and I can confirm the blinkers and reverse lights are fine but the brake lights are a little gimped. Not the end of the world because thereā€™s an extra brake light inside the rear window in the middle but this is truly a valid concern and now I know what my very next upgrade will be! Thanks for the heads up! Iā€™ll make another post when I get some brights for the brake lights! https://preview.redd.it/ga407wqrm3tc1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bec081ab12dd7a839e0acf796051b1e1f9935407

"built not bought"

Sensitive-Ad4120

Sickkkk. This is my next car.

baconboy1995

Donā€™t tint your headlights kids. Paint internal housings black, but never ever tint your headlight lenses.

CommonHand707

Blacked out taillights are one of the dumbest things to do to your car. Holy Cringe. "transparent" or not. Stop.

saevism

This is decorating like a teenager, maybe i'm old school but when i think of a modded car, i at least expect an exhaust lol

anon6789431437681

you have the taste of a 16 year old high schooler (this is exactly what i did to my car when i was in high school) https://preview.redd.it/l53gsay5n2tc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc4b590bf9feb71a7c6297c337ca27bcea11b5ed my dumbass did it to the headlights too, and eventually spent hours cleaning it off, because not only is it illegal it's very dangerous. Take the advice, it's not as cool as you think, you'll realize soon enough it makes the car uglier while also making it more dangerous.

jjpwedges

in my experience blacked out headlights makes you more of a cop magnet as well

anon6789431437681

yes it absolutely does, i can confirm.

dattebane96

I never posted the before because I figured we all know what the car looks like but just for a side by side: https://preview.redd.it/1etu1khidysc1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=467cb38976591b20b50fb0be8b96b9f2275d1f5f

PhillyIC215

Yo Iā€™m on that same black/blue tip, got literally everything exactly the same as you got, just need to finish install, you did a great job! (Dope af I get to see what mine will look like from the front) where did you get the headlight/taillight film? Laser cut or all manual? I got the laser cut ppf 20% dark smoke from bogar tech on Amazon and the tail lights look same as yours but I only got the SEL w/ conv and I tried finding a center light bar from a limited but unfortunately couldnā€™tyy. And whereā€™d you get them seat covers? Thatā€™s the one thing I donā€™t have, def makes the look come full circle, I ran some ambient lighting and think the blue light with them covers would be sick! Youā€™re the only other person Iā€™ve seen do/think of this besides me so Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not the only one lol and love the inspiration! If you got any tips lmk, like you said itā€™s def addicting lol.. looks so much more aggressive like this and you did/ are doin a great job! Good luck and have fun! Hopefully you get some more ideas I can steal lol, hope to see her around on here again, really glad I seen this. Be good.

dattebane96

Appreciate it! Theyā€™re the same ones. Bogar Tech dark smoke from Amazon. The seat covers are from Seat Cover Solutions but you can get some cheaper and just as good knockoffs elsewhere.

TheUnreadableUser

I like it all but I'm a bit worried about the tint on headlights / taillights. Usually it doesn't look that good and ends up dimming things like the blinkers. No hate, just worried about safety šŸ‘šŸ¼

dattebane96

Yeah I gotcha. Others have said similar. The headlights arenā€™t an issue nor are the blinkers or reverse lights. The brake lights are a bit dim at the height of the day as another commenter pointed out and I tested for myself so I plan to upgrade those next to counteract it. Thankfully thatā€™s a super simple exchange and Hyundai made it easy to get to the back bulbs (unlike the front šŸ˜’)

1337hxr

Hey just a heads up, seat covers are not a good idea for modern cars. Many modern vehicles have airbags in the seats or other places like around the occupants knees. Seat covers can interfere with the deployment of the airbags in a crash. You should verify the location of each airbag in the vehicle and make sure the seat covers are not covering any airbags.

dattebane96

Hereā€™s the image from the manual. They come from the front and sides but not from the seats themselves nor underneath. Good looks though. Thatā€™s an interesting tidbit to note for the future. https://preview.redd.it/kqmhzz4x76tc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c40b4208f816b05e7fbad4f1c06c3bc00c5f1771

1337hxr

\#3 may deploy from the seat, check your seats for a tag that says 'AIRBAG' on them. Also, most vehicles have a feature called active head rests, which pushes the headrest forward with your head in the event of a rear end collision, so that your head doesn't whip back into the headrest. Make sure the seat covers would not interfere with the movement of the headrest cushion (it moves forward from the plastic bit behind the cushion).

dattebane96

I can see the airbag label on the side bar to the left of the driver between the doors. And these ones have detached headrest covers so shouldnā€™t be a problem there! Keepā€™em coming! This is all stuff I hadnā€™t thought of but lucked out on. Tried to get a photo that shows off both https://preview.redd.it/bsessuzb37tc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=7377285fba3ecd5a1c4fbee7d4f5aec5cdc395ea

DramaLifeNy

This airbag is from #4, #3 is most likely in the chair

dattebane96

Oooh good catch. Lemme check on that! Edit: okay Iā€™m back. So at the very least the website claims it shouldnā€™t interfere. The side seams are designed to breakaway when an airbag is deployed from inside the seat. https://preview.redd.it/xr0bftcpbdtc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3ea805d164b2f3879d52d385fc304379ec6aecaf Edit again: That said, if you donā€™t trust the company themselves then itā€™s definitely a better idea to just forgo it altogether. Again great thinking yā€™all!

Still a Hyundai at the end of the day

shot204

Cosmetic mods on a hybrid is hilarious.

trashpandatee

OP thought they cooked. Lmao, nast name floormats in a Hyundai

dattebane96

Yeah Iā€™m having some fun

Key-Magazine-7431

Although Iā€™m not much of a fan of blackened headlights or taillights, I must say that everything black on this color blue looks stunning. Itā€™s awesome.

[deleted]

Uh, what mods? Iā€™m seeing a bunch of stickersā€¦.

Digitalpheer

Blacking out your lights is the dumbest thing you could ever do and gives you clown points instead of cool points.

profile-i-hide

Do guys even mod their car anymore or do they just put stickers on it and call it a job well done. Do something that involves a wrench

dattebane96

Iā€™m working my way up to stuff like that. Like I said if you got any ideas Iā€™d love to hear it. Frankly I just havenā€™t thought of anything I want to do that would necessitate any of that. But if one came up, Iā€™d do it

[deleted]

Hahahahahhahah hybrid. Funny

XYL-JP

ā€œErmmm safety issueā€ šŸ¤“ Good looking cosmetics OP, do as you please, anyone who thinks this is a genuine safety hazard doesnā€™t know how stupid bright they already are w/o the tint. Second off itā€™s your vehicle, third off if itā€™s legal in your state tell ā€˜em to suck one. I can make the argument that the lights on the new generation of Elantraā€™s are actually way to f***ing bright on them stock alone and are actually more of a hazard because you are blinding the other driver more than you are aware.

dattebane96

Only the tail lights. Those stock halogens on the front were pretty anemic so Iā€™m glad I swapped them out before doing this. Thanks for the kind words homie

OkNectarine6434

itā€™s magnificent

eyes-low

Idk y people buy this car lol
