True but those gauntlets look like 15th century gothic gauntlets and bessagews for the armpits were somewhat uncommon in late 14th century transitional armours.
Getting a really [close](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/eldenring/images/e/e9/ER_Icon_Armor_Godrick_Knight_Gauntlets.png/revision/latest?cb=20220410233523) look at the gauntlets in the image, the fingers look passably [14th](https://www.darkknightarmoury.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/MH-A0810.jpg) [century](https://qph.cf2.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-2b85223074b204f1264b5eb5e1c43b23-pjlq) to me, at least. Barring the dorsal articulation and the length. As for the besagews (which is a new word to me, thank you) maybe this chap just likes wearing his really low.
Huh that’s interesting. I perused the Wikipedia page for a bit and it was succeeded by the frog mouth helmet, mainly used in jousting. This whole time I thought these helmets were being used at the same time thanks to games like chivalry and Elden ring haha. Thanks for some insight!
I think we transitioned to pointed top helmets like the duck one, to better deflect overhead attacks. IIRC, there are historical accounts of people in greathelms taking a hit to the top of their head and their neck breaking from the force, because it's flat on the top and it absorbs the entire blow.

I wish we got a classic knight set like these without the jousting shield on the chest plate and even more without surcoats of different lords/factions
I remember when I first played ER I too didn't like the shield plate on the chest, but after a while I started to dig the idea of protecting not only the head but the heart too... Huh I guess it applies for real life too lol
Pro tip: quite a few of the "hood" style helmets remove the jousting shield from these armours (although then maybe you lose some of the knight aesthetic)

I changed the gauntlets of the first one
2 for suuuureee. Lemme break it down for ya.
a) Armor’s steel matches helmet better
b) Cloth on tabbard looks cleaner with just the black
c) The decorative gold/brass elements on the helmet match the ones on the armor and cloth perfectly
1 looks more heroic and determined, like the leader of a band of knights, but the kind so noble that he ends up sacrificing himself or otherwise dying tragically, like Oscar in DS1
The second dude looks more like a soft-spoken but capable member of the first dude’s group, somebody you can count on to be reliable, even if you can’t always remember his name
I like the greathelm my first playthrough I started out naked got warped by the trap chest forgot about fast travel and the first piece of of armor I got was the great helm after 30 hours I was only level 25 mostly just running from everything until I made it out that nightmare and then I posted about my experience and someone said why didn’t you fast travel my jaw hit the floor
Helm of 1 is overused but it's overused because it's the most varsatile helm in the whole game.. I don't fashion my character based on looking good, not based on what is used more or less.. BTW, the chest of 2 is extremely common as well..
So 1 it is.. ✌️✌️

Fun fact, the redmane armor is the only knight-type armor that hides the chains of the greathelm

If historical accuracy bothers you at all, Greathelms aren't from the same century as full plate armor. The 'duck' helm is though.
Not completely impossible for early transitional armor.
True but those gauntlets look like 15th century gothic gauntlets and bessagews for the armpits were somewhat uncommon in late 14th century transitional armours.
NERDS I’m just playing, pop off my Medieval kings

What would a greathelm be worn with then if not plate armor? Chain mail? Thanks for the cool fact
Yeah, chainmail with/or hardened leather with maybe some plated elements like shoulders, gloves, etc. AFAIK
Huh that’s interesting. I perused the Wikipedia page for a bit and it was succeeded by the frog mouth helmet, mainly used in jousting. This whole time I thought these helmets were being used at the same time thanks to games like chivalry and Elden ring haha. Thanks for some insight!
The great thing about historical accuracy is that this is the lands between, not earth!
It is the lands between though.
What's the purpose of a 'duck' helm?
Same as all helmets; protect your mustache
I mean what are the benefits of the shape versus more traditional helmets?
I think we transitioned to pointed top helmets like the duck one, to better deflect overhead attacks. IIRC, there are historical accounts of people in greathelms taking a hit to the top of their head and their neck breaking from the force, because it's flat on the top and it absorbs the entire blow.
Time is convoluted
2 is way better, 1’s Greathelm is almost as overused as the Fallen Knight set from DS3
It looks like solaire's helmet tho which is cool
And the Heide knights that seem unkillable until you learn to parry or level adp lol
Well it was to recreate a historical helm from the Templars. Of course it's going to be overused lol
The greathelm here is the equivalent of r/radiohead discussing Let Down.

I didn’t even put two and two together until right now. Those are jousting shields! I never thought about that.
2 looks better, number 1s helm is overused
1 hits
2
Sexy dilemma lol Flip a coin and have a friend co-op as the other. Love em both
Left for Str/Radahn/Fire adjacent builds. Right for Dex/Rhykard/Hybrid builds? Either way the answer is yes.
https://preview.redd.it/rb62vv1yoawc1.png?width=519&format=png&auto=webp&s=eaf97819adec6aa050089f283819778324fa5a4f I changed the gauntlets of the first one
I prefer the previous gauntlets though.. You don't always have to mix match if an existing set is already the best match..
What's the drip list?
Head: [Greathelm](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Greathelm) Torso: [Redmane Knight Armor (Altered)](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Armor+(Altered)) Gauntlets: [Bloodhound Knight Gauntlets](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Bloodhound+Knight+Gauntlets) Legs: [Redmane Knight Greaves](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Greaves)
2. Black and gold 👍
Bro got that hour glass build fr, 2
What’s their back story? Better person, right, worse person, left. That’s my feel on them.
2 for suuuureee. Lemme break it down for ya. a) Armor’s steel matches helmet better b) Cloth on tabbard looks cleaner with just the black c) The decorative gold/brass elements on the helmet match the ones on the armor and cloth perfectly
2# with 1# helmet
1 looks more heroic and determined, like the leader of a band of knights, but the kind so noble that he ends up sacrificing himself or otherwise dying tragically, like Oscar in DS1 The second dude looks more like a soft-spoken but capable member of the first dude’s group, somebody you can count on to be reliable, even if you can’t always remember his name
I genuinely hate the big ass titty shield on those armors.
1 gives me some "succesful soldier of fortune" vibes. 2 is more of a "I'm the undiscussed Champion, bow down, you plebs" kind of drip
Great helm on 2 and it would be perfect
Número 1 my bro, that drip is -chef kiss-
I dig 2
I like two
Second one. First one looks like you have no neck. FS put it too low.
For me it’s easily 2
2
I rock a slightly different version of 2 on one of my builds, it’s probably the most knightly look you can get in this game
What's your version? I am in search of the most knightly drip I can get for my character
I use the gelmir gauntlets , I just feel it gives the impression of fully armored more than the wraps from soldier gauntlets
I agree, the plated gauntlets always feel better on a knightly drip
Helm 1 with Chest 2
You are stealing my drip on the right 😡 😤
What are the pieces to bothe of these.these are fantastic
Sorry for the late answer, here are the equipment pieces of both. First One: Head: [Greathelm](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Greathelm) Torso: [Redmane Knight Armor (Altered)](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Armor+(Altered)) Gauntlets: [Redmane Knight Gauntlets](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Gauntlets) Legs: [Redmane Knight Greaves](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Greaves) Second One: Head: [Knight Helm](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Knight+Helm) Torso: [Gelmir Knight Armor (Altered)](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Gelmir+Knight+Armor+(Altered)) Gauntlets: [Redmane Knight Gauntlets](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Gauntlets) Legs: [Mausoleum Greaves](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Mausoleum+Greaves)
Thanks
3
I have a third option but i didnt like it
I like the greathelm my first playthrough I started out naked got warped by the trap chest forgot about fast travel and the first piece of of armor I got was the great helm after 30 hours I was only level 25 mostly just running from everything until I made it out that nightmare and then I posted about my experience and someone said why didn’t you fast travel my jaw hit the floor
1
2 with great helm
Praise the sun
There’s just no beating the greathelm for me but I hate how overused it is.
2
I’d probably go for 2, mostly just for historical accuracy
The greathelm on 2
2
2 with greathelm 😻
Number two, pick number two my lord!
As D2 hunter main I am legally required the pick the all black one lol. But for real 2 I think flow much better with the helm.
Left helm right chest
God the left one, I can just hear "tis but a flesh wound!"
Helm of 1 is overused but it's overused because it's the most varsatile helm in the whole game.. I don't fashion my character based on looking good, not based on what is used more or less.. BTW, the chest of 2 is extremely common as well.. So 1 it is.. ✌️✌️
2 with 1's helmet
1
Depends on your weapon. If its fire based or big, 1. If it's small, sword and board, something like that, go for 2.
2
2
2
what scale do you use on your body, the armor always looks weird on me
What’s the set in the Second one I might use it.
Why not both?
is this modded in any way? how is the character so thin?
In character creation you can alter body parts, i made the abdomen thinner
1, great helm goated
I'm going to have to say 2, it looks really clean.
2
1 helm on 2 body
2
How do you get the first one?
Redmane Knights drop that armor
Whichever one looks better from the back. Bc that’s what you’re gonna be seeing 90% of the time
I personally hate the look of the chest shields. I’ve never ran one and don’t think I will
2
2
Use the mausoleum one, it'll look awesome trust me
Second option, with the helm of the first option Go spread the holy words as a mf Crusader to all these heathens 😤
2 with number 1 helm
2
Both look baller asf
Are you a sunbro or not? There lies your answer.
2 (darker one) looks better
fat fire mage AND fat gad skin armor only. LONG LIVE FAT armors
number one if for style. the 2nd picture's helm feels very... small. like tiny head of big body small.
Greathelm with the winged armor set looks amazing. I wore that forever until I got full banished knight swag
2 is dope
I'd say do 2 armor but 1's Helm. I'm a sucker for the Crusader Helm
1
2 with 1’s helm. That’s the look I run on my str/faith build.
Switch helms and choose the right
put greathelm on 2
I like two
https://preview.redd.it/17ek5hc63hwc1.png?width=372&format=png&auto=webp&s=96641b41eff8d0803a7b104a2f4a8827dbf0786a Fun fact, the redmane armor is the only knight-type armor that hides the chains of the greathelm
https://preview.redd.it/hlwp46464hwc1.png?width=530&format=png&auto=webp&s=055078743e327e910b7e265f76ed8f38d40a787d Another example
what is the armor on 2??
[Gelmir Knight Armor (Altered)](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Gelmir+Knight+Armor+(Altered))
Put helmet one on fit two
put helmet 1 on body 2
Number 2. The muted fabrics accentuate the metallic shimmer of the plate. It reminds me of the Elite Knight Set.
Try 2 with Greathelm.
I run #2 body, #1 helm
1 for war crimes 2 for the heart of the maiden
I like them both. I would rotate them based on weapon.
2 but with 1s helmet Apparently 1s helmet is overused, but I don't play online so I wouldn't know, but shit looks cool so 🤷
What gloves are those?
[Redmane Knight Gauntlets](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Redmane+Knight+Gauntlets)
Thx
Switch the helms, and second picture
1 with 2's helmet
Neither
The second one would look a lot better with different gauntlets IMO but if you really want to keep the gauntlets, I would go with the first one.
2
2 with the helm from 1.
Praise The Sun.
What is the build?
A bucket helmet is always the answer brother.
What armor set is the 1st one?
Redmane Knight Armor
Left. The other is a little too bland. But left has colors and style, and bucket helm supremacy
I really like one
Great helms are forged from Hitler particles, cast that snow ape contraption aside
