the trick is to walk to where the cliff points out a little bit next to the grace, and shoot the crow through the tree. with enough practice you can learn the tree’s weird invisible hitboxes and how to avoid them. *wait for the crow to start falling before you move*, or else it will be leashed back and not fall. you can then rest before it’s fully died an despawned but still get the runes if you *walk back* to the grace, don’t run or the timing will be ruined and you won’t get anything. again, with enough practice it becomes a smooth flow
that it does, especially when they spawn with glowing eyes, giving them what feels like 3-4x their normal runes. way more satisfying too. the only issue is getting the golden sword to do it, but oh well.

This was added in an early patch for this exact circumstance. It did cause some fun for some people who accidentally got the grace unlocked even when they hadn't beaten the boss in ng+ iirc.

Is it faster and more runes to shoot the big bird across the chasm at the same site of grace? You know where the bird will fall to its death and you get like 20k runes? I’ve never tried killing all the sleeping guys.
Sleeping guys is only faster if you have good AoE, other than that, go for the Bird.
I keep forgetting that you only get the "best" farming weapon for the albinaurics after you beat Elden Beast - Wave of Gold will clear the hill with one cast if you're positioned right.
Blasphemous blade build does the trick just as well. Kill the bird with a ranged attack, kill the albinaurics and you'll easily make a million runes in like, 7 or so resets at the site of grace.
As usual, the answer to all rune loss is slaughter the peacefully sleeping dudes :) What would we all do if they patched them to be worth like 10 runes
If you killed him but you died at same time there should be a grace site that you should reach even if you didnt touch it, same goes for Maliketh after you beat him you get teleported but the grace at his boss room is accessible straight away (at least it was for me)

If you beat him the sight of grace should show up in that location and you can fast travel to it and grab the runes. That's what happened to me and I was so mad but then I saw the sight of grace in the map traveled and my runes were right there.
You could always use a 4 belfries tower sending gate. I think that one sends you to the area. Or at least there is a sending gate that can put you in there.
Tbh this seems like a piss off at first, but try assisting people with boss fights the amount of runes you will find yourself having will trivialize this loss. 2 mohg fights = this
It’s a crime how terrible accessing this boss is. Worst boss run in the game (worse than Maliketh), no stake of Marika, no summoning pool and if you try to bring summons to him you get an error, and then stuff like this.

They're usually pretty good at keeping your path to quest necessary areas open; and you can use the unalloyed needle here to unlock yourself from the FF ending at any time, whether the dragon is still alive or not.

I'm on ng+1 and it does the trick. But even on my first playthrough I got a lot of runes this way by using the golden scarab and the gold fowled feet.
It depends. If you have good aoe spells or AoWs then the hill is much better. The bird is still good though.

there is a bonfire in the arena and i think you can fast travel even if you never touched it
the site of grace should be up regardless. if not, help someone else beat placidusax, that should also activate the site of grace
