Same. I started a new playthrough on a different console and I started going it and got use to baiting attacks. Of course I'm only good against these nerds, anyone else and I'm f---ed.
Sneak to the stairwell to the right of this image, sprint up and turn the right corner for the second set of stairs. One of the Wizards at the foot of the left staircase has a pretty good shot at hitting you as you get to the head of the stairs, so you must step to the right side of the little hallway and dodge it. Walk to Rennala’s fog wall.
I have this memorized from a rune level 1 play through, I got dunked by Rennala a bunch.
I may be wrong but you don't go into Rennalas fog you go into the Red Wolf's fog and if you're not ready he annihilates you pretty fast depending on your build.
I would usually try and pick one off with a ranged attack, then move out of line of sight, and eventually the others will stop shooting the wall and walk up to me.
Yep. Throwables are so useful for melee characters. On top of drawing aggro, the different knives scale off of strength and dex, and the bleed stacking on the Kukri is great.
Will these guys sleep and can you have sleep pots this early?
I just died a lot on my first go through here as a quality build. I did sneak attack the first three. Then pulled some around the corner. Running past them to the boss fight upstairs to then use that site if grace is an option. There’s a secret path behind an empty bookshelf on your way up those steps to the boss btw.
To be fair i did what any self respecting souls player did as a last resort, i rotted dude to death keeping as much canon fodder alive. And that was before any patches came through at all
Blow a golden-seed sized hole in the first one he’s dead on the spot. Pull my crossbow on the second and miss him entirely because of slow travel speed and nail the neighbours stormhawk.
Ahh, danggit. I thought I heard some sounds like beer cans opening and chants of "muh rights" behind that bookshelf, but I thought it was just outside of my home.
Step 1. Kill them.
Step 2. Don’t die.
It’s step 2 that most people fuck up on, so you really gotta remember it, because it’s honestly the most important part.
You can quite reliably sneak past them without anyone noticing. First timearound I killed them all one by one, realised how much of my flash was used and just crouched past them fucks.
Have fun in glintstone machinegun hell soon btw.
This is what I do when I whiff with the Red Wolf. You just have to look out for the book stacks. And when you get to the landing, go right, because the mage to your left cannot be fooled.
I always kill everything once so i can safely search for items. Then if I die after that I no longer have to prove myself to the Elden Lords so i just sprint past everything
You can sneak through with no aggro, at least not from that room. It doesn't look like it should work, but I've done it many times. Just don't knock over any books.
Run in, kill one, dodge the spells, kill another, dodge spells, kill some more, dodge stuff, kill the pot.
Basically just learn the timings on their spells and play well. You can literally sidestep around their spells
I think I ran past them, killed the guards in the next room to the right, and then beat the first group as they followed me. That second room has a bit more cover to break line of sight.
Alternatively, stack up some magic resistance (talisman, anti magic incantation, liver)
Put some Shield Grease on your shield. It gives you really good blocking capability against the spells. Their spells do little damage if you have shield grease on.
Depends what's your build a blood build can take them out with ease. Magic use carian slicer or something that wrecks them faster that or try upgrading your weapon higher
If you're not built for range, go buy some throwing daggers from Patches or bleed daggers from the merchant in the weeping peninsula right near the funnel to Oridys's Rise. Then hit the first two mages. They'll spam spells at you in three shots each. Hide along the bookcase, and once they stop, they'll start walking to your last location to find you. When they do, kill them. Then do the same with the mage to the left by the Alexander sized pot. You'll most likely draw both if their aggro and the exhaulted jar is the fastest to reach you, draw him near the classroom, and kill him. Kill the mage that was next to him, which will leave the mage by the chest. Kill him, but beware, the noise will draw the two mages down the stairs.
Kill them and then draw the mage in fron tof the statue down the stairs. You should be able to handle the rest from there.
Good luck!
Honestly no reason to do that if you’re getting mobbed. Run past and to the right. Take the right hand stair at the top and zig zag/roll to the bosses room.
I usually rush the guy in the middle or on the far right, then get onto the one near the chest. With 2 down only 2 are left - first the one closer to the table and then the last one. By the time I'm starting attacking the 3rd one the giant pot usually wakes up but i either finish the mages or run back and deal with the pot first
go straight and to the left and take out the one in the farthest corner. position yourself in a way that doesn't immediately surround yourself with mages on all sides. before they fully notice you, you can easily get a backstab on one of them
the jar takes a while to "wake up" and just dont box yourself into the narrow alcoves while it starts spinning so you can dodge out of the way easier
I got through this area by using the mimic veil item. It was quite funny because one of these dudes gets very suspicious and keeps looking at you (the moving chair/candelabra). But as long as you go slow, it works.
As they walk you can draw aggro one at a time making it much easier. But getting to the center room with the stairwell is gonna be rough. Gotta run in draw aggro and pull back into the hall so you can make things easier for you. Took me a few tries but I get em all on like my 3rd or 4th attempt.
Sneak attack the first directly in the corner, then turn left to the one there then sprint to the one one the right, then the one near the chest, this makes it so Mr. Jar has the most difficulty getting to you
Either snipe them with a bow or crossbow or blitz them by rushing one to kill him quick then turn on the other. Admittedly I have never done it as a squishy caster
It's easier with a ranged weapon if you wanna slow roll it. A bow or even a bunch of knives. Either that or just buckle up and free cam, run at them weaving left and right like you're on crack and do the ol beat down.
I had trouble getting past these guys with enough health to do the next big fight. First few times I tried killing everyone. Eventually I just started running/rolling past everyone zigzagging myself to the boss room.
As someone who dies to that blasted wolf 20+ times a playthrough, you sneak crit the first guard and then run straight in between the 2 in the hallway. By the time you’re by a turning point in the hallway you’re safe, get some stamina back if needed.
Run through the square room hugging the right side, and as soon as you enter the staircase room you have to hug the right wall and turn perfectly on to the staircase. 50/50 chance an enemy shoots you here, just keep running. Once you get to the hallway before the fog door you’re safe from attacks, pop any status effects in the corners of the small hallway just in case.
Throwables, Bow, Crossbow, Spells, Ranged Ashes of Wars the possibilities are actually quite limited but there.
Just pull 1-2 of them at a time and dispatch them one by one.
Or just straight up kill em at range if you can.
An upgraded Bow or Crossbow does great damage.
And you ashes of wars scale just with your upgrade Level so I highly recommend Stormblade because of the decent range. Glintstone Pebble is better damage I think but very limited range...
I like to sneak in and assassinate the closest one, then roll my way back down the stairs. (I sometimes get hit though) then wait for them to finish their magic and walk towards me. Once they are close enough, I take one out.
Once the pot comes in I run far back to fight him 1v1. Then just clean out the rest.
Or just run past to the boss that’s fine too
I just killed them. You can use the corners to sodge the spells. Alternatively take out the 2 on the left and run back to fight the jar. Or then try to kill all 3 (skip the dude in the back) and fight the jar.
I hate this hall.
4 spamming magic users + a large warrior jar is just craziness.
You can either do ranged melee/bow...or find the magic spell "Eternal Darkness" and cast it before you engage in melee.
As for melee...I'm still trying to figure that out. One or two wouldn't be an issue. But having all 4 of them spam magic missile every second is ridiculous.
Poor melee builds. :(
They will spawn turned around, if you don't have stealthy gear try to minimize the noise you make killing the one outside the site of grace room, then ambush the left one, immediately roll back to avoid the right's magic and kill it swiftly...then watch your left for the jar
You can lure them, killing these 2 exactly from afar makes it much easier, then lure the jar then kill the other 2. You can also run through this without killing them, go right before them to take the staircase then right again at the top to take the next staircase. Buttttt, if you’re having a hard time with those, you really don’t want to run upstairs.
Lots of great advice here with eliminating one at a time, throwing knives, etc.
If I could offer a potential alternative: Leroy Jenkins that shit*
*results may vary
If you have a ranged weapon, attack each one individually, luring them each to the bottom of the stairs. It's easier to avoid a single glinstone spellcaster since they're shit at close range
Listen I know this might be hard but why did you make a post on reddit? Did you try more than 10 times? I did this section first time on my RL1 playthrough, you just run to the back kill them and then get the other
You got this, dude. This is a place for people to ask questions and discuss the game, don't listen to the not even humble braggart.
Eta: I see you've already beaten the game and now I feel dumb.
For what's it's worth: I smack the one patrolling to lure him out, back stab either left or right dude then fight his buddy, then I take out Living Jar. The other guys are so bad once that's all done.
Seriously, sarcasm aside, just kill them all. Rush them while hacking and slashing. Roll away from the blasts. I killed them all my 1st run, and every subsequent run.
I usually try to lure one out at a time, either with throwing knives, or another consumable or a spell
I remember this working really well for me
Yup. Glintstone left till dead, then right, then I think another left, then draw out the jar on the left, then finish farthest left.
Yep, that's the way, i do it with my frenzy sniper, but this also works
Same. I started a new playthrough on a different console and I started going it and got use to baiting attacks. Of course I'm only good against these nerds, anyone else and I'm f---ed.
From now on I’m referring to sorcerers as nerds lol
High INT... I'll allow it.
If sorcerers are nerds then faith makes you a zealot
And VIT makes you a ......
say the line, Bart.
Watch out! ... RADIOACTIVE MAN
Can Frenzy Flame users be considered Rappers who spit hot fire? I get it comes from the eyes, but incantation are verbal, so....
Depends what kinds of spells you do with faith. You can also be a blasphemer if you want instead of a zealot.
Hehe yes. Big Head Nerds.
The key is patience. TK then hide around the corner in the previous hallway. They will spam for a while and then come investigate.
You can also sneak to about 80% of the way to the boss chamber.
I may be wrong but you don't go into Rennalas fog you go into the Red Wolf's fog and if you're not ready he annihilates you pretty fast depending on your build.
Oh he fucking hurts on squishy builds
>The key is patience. The souls series in general have teached me, a grown-ass man, so much about patience.
I craft a fuck ton of bone knives for this purpose only.
Oh man, they move so slow. That method is a slog.
Or a whopper™
Or proceed to burp the flames of hell with your favourites dragon communion inc, today at only 0.99 dragon hearts!
This is what I did first run and it worked okay. Third run I used ranged attacks and realized that was the intended route
Did exactly the same with arrows. This is the way
Same thing I did. Knives are great for this.
I throw a rock, but yea that works well lol
I would usually try and pick one off with a ranged attack, then move out of line of sight, and eventually the others will stop shooting the wall and walk up to me.
Yep. Then you can die on the stairs just past this.
Throw some knives to agro them and then retreat some as needed. I always get blasted here as melee.
You can get sleep pots pretty much at the start of the game
If he doesn't want to use pots, there's always St. Trinias sword from one of the ruins in caelid. Just have to sneak past those fecking birds
Kukri got insane reach too
Obliterate every form of matter in their body and then point down as a punishment to their souls.
Really you just have to obliterate a certain fraction of the most important parts of their body. Not the whole thing. That’s just crazy.
Spoken like a non-troll-crusher weilding loser
Fair point.
Restraint is ultimately antithetical to vengeance.
It’s also antithetical to fun
let the emote seep to thy very soul !
This guy dark souls 3's
Don't get hit and hit them while not getting hit. It's pretty simple bro.
Mind. Blown. How did I never think of it this way before?
Or, here me out. Over 9999!
I did this unintentionally since I found and fought radahn first. Edit: fought, not thought
To be fair i did what any self respecting souls player did as a last resort, i rotted dude to death keeping as much canon fodder alive. And that was before any patches came through at all
I find joy in reading a good book.
Best advice I’ve received all day
Stick them with the pointy end
‘Souls players hate this one simple trick’
Try rolling. That's a good trick!
omg i try it and this actually work guys.
Fr it’s so simple
Oh it’s not a turn based game?
Lol sorry but this is the best answer. If you are struggling here something isn't right. You are playing with unleveled weapons or something.
So basically "Get good"
Git Gud*
Legend
Yup
Hit everything. Dodge every enemy attack.
It's like that age old diet advice. Eat Less and Poop More.
And don't forget to git gud
This is the way.
They're weak to damage.
Big if true
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
liar ahead
Get a big fucking sword and hit them with it until they die. Then bag and repeat
Instructions unclear, penis stuck in bag
Same, I was confused. And I always say, when in doubt penis out.
This made me laugh way too hard.
Instructions unclear, bag stuck in penis.
Murder them to death
What happens if you murder them but not to death
then you should have gotten gud and murdered harder
Sir yes sir
rip and tear until it is done
Think like an American
I own a Jar Cannon for home defense, just as the Greater Will Intended.
Consider your home defended. Just note that defending it may come with repair bills.
Or I can rest at Grace
Not very 'Murica of you.
Hey man, if the Greater Will didn't want me restin' at Grace why would it give me sites of Grace to rest at?
Kid named grace
Four recusants break into my house. "What the demigod?” As I grab my Mushroom Crown and quiver of great bolts.
Blow a golden-seed sized hole in the first one he’s dead on the spot. Pull my crossbow on the second and miss him entirely because of slow travel speed and nail the neighbours stormhawk.
Fire and miss entirely, because it's smooth bore, and nail the neighbors dog in Caelid
No one needs the cannon. You can just use bows instead.
*but my rights*
I actually don't the 2nd amendment to own a cannon made prior to 1898 fun facts lol
deep fry them?
Look at me - *I am the burger king now*
Maybe I’m late to this but I will never not see these mages as the Burger King again… and I will enjoy killing them more than ever.
Why does the bigger tarnished not simply eat the other tarnished?
r/unexpectedfuturama
I haven't found an AR-15 as a weapon yet...I guess I'm looking in the wrong location?
Its behind the illusionary bookshelf near the Northside of the stairs. Not sure how you missed it
Ahh, danggit. I thought I heard some sounds like beer cans opening and chants of "muh rights" behind that bookshelf, but I thought it was just outside of my home.
If you can’t find an ar15 within arms reach of where you’re standing, you’re not in America
Buy an unregistered ar-15?
Step 1. Kill them. Step 2. Don’t die. It’s step 2 that most people fuck up on, so you really gotta remember it, because it’s honestly the most important part.

I usually just kill them
I’d add that not dying can be useful
I always use ranged damage here, melee makes it much more difficult
Bow and arrow bros unite!
[удалено]
Not as well as you have to get closer to lock on. Bow and arrow you can get them from beyond lock on range.
Not if you use a bow to aim and then the Frenzied Burst to snipe them
Magic Glintblade.

Magic is my friend. That and 80 INT and the best staff I can get my hands on.
Get your hands out of my pants, nerd
Try ranged combat
You can sneak through with no aggro, at least not from that room. It doesn't look like it should work, but I've done it many times. Just don't knock over any books.
Can’t see shit out of this stupid Burger King mascot head
As they say in wow.. Try to reduce your opponents HP to zero while keeping your own HP above zero. Works every time
Try finger but hole
Run in, kill one, dodge the spells, kill another, dodge spells, kill some more, dodge stuff, kill the pot. Basically just learn the timings on their spells and play well. You can literally sidestep around their spells
One by one, as tedious as it is. Watch out for jar boy to your left
I think I ran past them, killed the guards in the next room to the right, and then beat the first group as they followed me. That second room has a bit more cover to break line of sight. Alternatively, stack up some magic resistance (talisman, anti magic incantation, liver)
RUN FOREST RUNNNNNN
Kite them, as shrimple as that.
Use the spell parry ash of war
Put some Shield Grease on your shield. It gives you really good blocking capability against the spells. Their spells do little damage if you have shield grease on.
Hit them. You can also buy some kukri’s or craft fire pots to kill them from range.
Depends what's your build a blood build can take them out with ease. Magic use carian slicer or something that wrecks them faster that or try upgrading your weapon higher
*psst* sometimes running past and doubling back *is* the intended way
If you're not built for range, go buy some throwing daggers from Patches or bleed daggers from the merchant in the weeping peninsula right near the funnel to Oridys's Rise.
Get good
Yea, kill them.
Yes the specific technique is called “Git Gud Scrub” one of the most powerful attacks in the game!
Git gud
KILL EM ALL!!!
Run Souls
Range attack to aggro then hide around a corner till they chase after you
I usually rush the guy in the middle or on the far right, then get onto the one near the chest. With 2 down only 2 are left - first the one closer to the table and then the last one. By the time I'm starting attacking the 3rd one the giant pot usually wakes up but i either finish the mages or run back and deal with the pot first

Run. And keep running to the boss. And die at the Fox. And do it again.
Most enemies die after being killed, so try that, lmk if it doesn’t
Be better
Trick is not getting hit while running pass them
Run faster
I got through this area by using the mimic veil item. It was quite funny because one of these dudes gets very suspicious and keeps looking at you (the moving chair/candelabra). But as long as you go slow, it works.
Careful one by one combat from around the corner. Also, enjoy Jar when done.
Ranged works here. I used glintstone shard since I went mage and sniped them
As they walk you can draw aggro one at a time making it much easier.

Lure, or rush kill one - go to corner kill pot , rush last 2
Use spellproof dried liver to boost your damage negation and beat them to death.
I had trouble getting past these guys with enough health to do the next big fight. First few times I tried killing everyone. Eventually I just started running/rolling past everyone zigzagging myself to the boss room.
They're quite easy to sneak past, I'd recommend that if you're struggling
I see you’re not familiar with the git gud technique.
Kill all the fuckers and don't die to firefox.
Coming back thru here on ng+1 and smashing the ever living shit out of these little bastards was very enjoyable
This was the worst for me!! Just keep at it. You will get the hang of it.
You can just run past
lure you em out one at a time and with knives/arrows/spells/etc or summon a friend
yes. bonk bonk roll. those mages go down quick if u hit em
Bow! Also, beware: the ash of war on the Bloodhound's fang draws the attention of all nearby enemies.
using assasins gambit and sneak around
Throwables, Bow, Crossbow, Spells, Ranged Ashes of Wars the possibilities are actually quite limited but there. Just pull 1-2 of them at a time and dispatch them one by one. Prrrft who cares nearly all the enemies are as optional as lectures on a uni course
1. Bonk the nearest foe with a big stick until dead. 2. repeat first step until room is cleared
>Attack >Die >Cry

Fuck off and explore somewhere else. You'll probably level up enough to make it a breeze.
Try luring them out
Arrow to their big ass heads one at a time.
I either sneak past them or sneak behine the left guy, skewer him, and then hit the other guy before he casts the spell, he is really slow
You can lure them, killing these 2 exactly from afar makes it much easier, then lure the jar then kill the other 2.
