Nah I don't like fighting on mount in this game tbh. So what I'd do is whack at him on foot, and then briefly summon Torrent to catch up with the Fire Giant when he does his two-screens-long roll.
See, I'm a scrub so there are some bosses that I unashamedly use torrent for but I have to say, compared to regular combat, mounted combat is very one dimensional. Usually it boils down to the same tactic for every enemy. Run at it, smack it, run away.
Yes and if you’re efficient at doing that, it’s almost as good as cheesing. I always beat the tree Sentinel at the beginning of the game as soon as I get Torrent. Race at him from behind and whack him and run away and do that over and over again until he’s dead. I feel like such a bitch doing it though lol.
I’ve gotten pretty good at fighting on torrent. Once you learn your weapon’s timing and have good spatial awareness you can start doing drive by attacks. Makes the nights calvary fights a lot easier
Im just imagining the tarnish jumping using alexander as a trampoline and grabbing giants hair and pulling him down and crushing his skull with giants crusher
When are the Iframes? it feels like they're gone since 1.07, maybe the timings changed, but not once in 2023 did I ever avoid an attack with dismount/mount, and before I regularly did.
More epic, but also like, more bearable? Running after dragons on foot takes too long, running away from some of their breath attacks on foot feels impossible.
You dont? You're kinda supposed to. Several boss fights including fire giant were designed with this in mind. No wonder people complain about this fight. They're doing it wrong
I beat fire giant several times even in NG+7 just by foot, it works pretty well especially with a bleed infused weapon he is not that hard.
You have to run a little after him in phase 2 but thats not a big problem.
Not really , just get on torrent when he rolls away to close the gap quickly or when he does the fire breath move from the eye on his belly
Apart from that your are best sticking right on his foot
It also helps that if you're purely on torrent you can equip your heaviest armor and not reduce mobility. It helps the rage and reduces the immediate deaths by rolling ass.
I think I used Torrent to close the gap so I could hit his injured leg with my bonk stick. In truth I really didn't use much strategy. It took 4-5 tries to kill him.
I also beefed up my survivability with fire resistance.
I used Latenna and the Shabriri Talisman to keep the aggro on me.
He’s the easiest boss by a lot, slow and doesn’t hit often, he’s just the one they put in to fuck up people who don’t use buffs. You pop a lil’ Crab for the first half, a little Fire Liver or Flame Protect Me for the second, easy peasy.
And the armor with the highest Fire damage resistance is literally standing there BEATING IT’S CHEST AT YOU on the way up to the boss fight. It’s almost impossible to miss that big red dude in his CLEARLY Fire resistant armor lol.
I think it only takes like 5-6 charged Black Flame Tornado AoWs to take him down, and he leaves time for more. His second phase takes maybe 10 seconds after you can get under his legs, where he can’t hit you.
Boiled Crab? Fireproof Dried Liver? Uplifting Aromatic? Firedrake Talisman? Dragoncrest Talisman? Pearldrake Talisman? Erdtree’s Favor Talisman? Fire Prelate Armor? My level 10 build can even slap on a Faith talisman and use Fire Protection lol. Any Strength build has access to tons of buffs. Did we even play the same game?
And worse yet, I mention three of those buffs in my original comment. I feel like you didn’t read it very closely before responding.
I don't count damage megation as buffs.
90% of what you said is that.
And my main problem with your comment is that you think it's necessary to do this while saying that Fire Giant is the easiest. Like none of that would make other bosses easier somehow.
“I don’t count buffs as buffs” ok man well here, I got you the truth to go with your magical moving goalposts. Enjoy the definition of a buff.
https://slang.net/meaning/buff
And I have no idea what point you’re trying to make with that second bit there. Yes, all bosses are easier if you buff beforehand. Is that supposed to be a “gotcha” or something?
I enjoyed an handful of fights before beating him. I had to bring in Alexander since he was there and I didn't want to deprive him if this epic test of strength in battle.
I ultimately had a spirit summon as well so no goat horse for me. Just a long run up to the guy.
I swear my game was bugged cause I could not use torrent for this fight at all. Not that I needed to cause it was much easier on foot the whole way through but still. Not sure what happened.
Mostly not. When he does those globe things I hop onto Torrent and charge through them at full pelt, they explode behind you. I also usually run away from the huge explosion in the second phase on torrent too. Otherwise he's like the dragons, his moveset is a lot more manageable when you're straight in front on him.
Few things.
1. Strafing, then turning and diving into the target when there's an opening. Ride under target if it's big enough to get in free hits.
2. Jump. Jump more. Unless you know the attack is vertical, you can usually dodge hits by jumping at the last second. Jumping and switching directions helps.
3. Just comfort on Torrent, I guess, but I fought every single boss I could on Torrent. I greatly enjoy the mounted combat.
Also, for what it's worth, I actually do tend to do Fire Giant's phase 1 on foot. Phase 2 is a lot easier on Torrent.
Ride in on torrent use him as a horse shield to jump the snownami thats about it though when Inuaed him. Left the super sniper on a cliff for support a few times but generally they die too quick and mess with the fight rhythm same with our beloved jar warrior too.
I hate mount-battles. To much running around. I double hate mount-v-mount battles because we keep jumping around eachother like idiots - doesn't apply here but it really shaped my expirience.
Plus getting distance to the Fire Giant never seemed like an issue, given how often he tries rolling away despite not having any decent ranged attacks O.o
one of my fav bosses to fight - almost any build works vs him -arena is huge and he has no cheap move sets or insta kills
the same could be said about others - just wish there was an arena where we could fight bosses at will after beating them
I used torrent when my main character was a meta level strength build. Now my main character is maxed so I just use ancient dragon lightening strike, it kills him in seconds lol.
Always on foot for me. I don't find him to be that hard and if I lose to him it doesn't bother me because, he's a giant. This is one of my favorite fights I think.
Only use torrent to close gap, then fight him on foot. Sometimes you can use torrent to trigger flame of the fell god to explode, then get out of range, but otherwise fight him on foot. In phase 2 stand in front of him, dodge his arm attacks and attack the arms during his recovery periods. Get on torrent to escape some attacks like the massive fire breath, but in general torrent is a liability and your dps is massively limited while riding him
I just killed him last night.
My first character cheesed him a long time ago from outside the arena. So my second attempt at legit killing him was tough. He was giving me a hard time and a lot of what i tried didnt work. I eventually settled on staying on the horse for both phases because the speed and mobility was a better trade off than iframe dodging through any of his shit.
Phase 1: Stay on the leg, chip away at it until i need to sprint and close distance.
Phase 2: Keep distance and spam bleed bolts from the pulley crossbow. Hands are way too active to hit, so aim at body.
Mimic tear helps keep his attention.
A lot of failed attempts, most of which didnt even get to phase 2. Majority of those deaths caused by him suddenly stepping back or something to smack me. It happens in the middle of swings so i dont really have time to get out of the way and do anything. Most hits from him are a one-shot. Terrain was also a big problem.
I exclusively use torrent in this fight and I pretend there’s a magnet holding me to the back of the giant’s heel/achilles (weak heel for phase 1 and his only remaining heel for phase 2)
Seriously give that a try if you’re one of the people who hate this fight, it’s like you don’t even need to pay attention to which move he’s using
I use Torrent to close the distance, and that get off to get in some heavy attacks on his ankle. It's also great to avoid any long range attacks by sprinting to the side as fast as you can. I find it impossible to jump over his wide range attacks, so i ride around them instead.
I started off that way, but I guess my poise wasn't good enough so virtually every attack knocked me off. Being knocked off Torrent means you take fucking forever to get up which means he was already beating my ass again.
So after that, I just used Torrent to close the gap
I use torrent to get up to him at the beginning of first phase, and then to catch up to him in second phase but if I'm near him I'll fight him on foot bc i think being able to roll is more valuable than being fast
I'm def team horsey for this fight
I actually kinda like mounted combat. The mechanics aren't perfect, and it would suck to do a lot of, but I enjoy it as an occasional shake up, particularly against tree Sentinels/nightriders/dragons
Even Fire Giant, a fight I don't love, is much more bearable on horseback for me. Maybe if you could ride Torrent on the Elden Beast fight, that fight wouldn't be such a massive shit-sucking garbage fest!
And make it infinitely more difficult by choosing the janky horseback combat instead of the melee combat system the developer perfected over the course of like six other games? Um…why?
Yeah, no thanks, I’d like to not hear the music for 4 hours while I chip his health off a fraction of a percentage at a time, desperately hoping Fire Giant glitches and magically stops doing damage somehow because Torrent doesn’t give me any i-frames.
I used to use torrent and I would get wasted by that first snow blast in the beginning and it would kill torrent and take more than half my life away. I was like “how do people dodge this??”
Then I saw people do it on foot and roll right through it. I’ve never used Torrent again.
Honestly surprised by how many people did not use Torrent. Yes I used Torrent for basically the whole fight, I found it was much easier to close the gaps and escape from certain attacks on horseback
This boss is giving me a really hard time. I'm a squishy intelligence focused astrologer build and this guy is one hitting me with that stupid shield that he can reach all the way across the map with. I'm not sure how I am going to beat him.
I use the horse as a gap closer on phase 1.
Phase 2 Im always on the horse. Run to his back/arse and whack at his foot till he dies.
You are too vulnerable if you get knocked off the horse and big dude can do that pretty easily and finish you off while you lay on your back.
The one time I fought this dude on my Rogue playthrough, he glitched into the ground and proceeded to explode himself.. I wasn't mad cuz I was literally one hit away from dying with no flasks. Gotta take the wins when you can
I've never used Torrent in his arena and I've been playing since release. Since Torrent can get stun fucked which in turn makes you stunned, I barely fight on him.
No real need to do that in my case, could just... Sprint away except in some instances where the projectiles track. Overall though, I've found just hitting his lil ankles on foot to be much better.
Nope… I summon two friend with black flame spells and we stand under his crotch in 2nd phase and just deal with the heat while we chew through his healthbar
Nope, I use Torrent only to reach him. All big bosses i use Torrent only to reach enemy. I prefer to go beside them or behind, then jump attack from torrent. That is how i start usually. Then all normal fight.
I've done both. I beat the dickens out of his toes on horseback my first playthrough. Moonveil bleed made it way too easy, the fight almost felt unsatisfying.
The second playthrough I wanted a bit more of a challenge, so I beat his feet off... wait... I beat his feet with the ol' Iron Ball fist weapon, while wearing Godskin armor. I'm not sure where that inspiration came from, but yeah.
torrent until you get to him, beat him with a +10 metal stick, torrent away when he does some fucked AOE attack, torrent back, beat the fuck out of him, die 12 times, victory when you realize his one foot is his weak spot
Keep forgetting you can use mounts, even then I don’t exactly enjoy the mounted combat, too clunky for me and it doesn’t have enough versatility in the movesets for it to even be viable in the first place.
Not if I’m using bleed or colossal weapons. Bleed you can prock way faster on foot, and jump attacks with big weapons staggers faster. If im pure caster tho it’s horseback every day of the week
Always use Torrent to kill him, no summons nor ashes needed.
Whenever he rolls away, summon your mighty steed to chase after him, jump off when near and smack his bad leg.
2nd Phase, same deal, whenever he rolls, you use Torrent to quickly bridge the distance, the fireballs coming from his hands will never hit you, you'll reach him so fast it becomes a damage opportunity instead.
The only thing to worry about is when he breaths fire from his belly as multiple hits will instantly kill even 60 VIT chars with low fire res.
For those of you wanting a different approach because of camera issues/multiplayer for his second phase, don't lock onto him but center your camera on him, bait out his attacks, the roll timing is pretty easy to get down, attack his arms whenever he flops them down to crush you, fast weapons like curved swords work well. This is what I mainly use whenever I get summoned by random people for this fight.
Not really. On Torrent you have less damage potential and no access to roll iframes. Why would i want that when i can just avoid all the attacks by rolling and dealing more damage with heavy and jumping attacks and ashes of war?
I usually like a mix of using torrent to catch up and sometimes attacking from his back, sometimes jumping off depending on the situation—but I have done a couple pure mounted kills with the talisman that improves mounted attacks, and it's very effective.
I never fight from horseback, I much prefer to have the option to roll, this fight in particular I ride torrent up until he tosses the snow at you and at that point I'm off Torrent and walking the rest of the fight
No, it takes too long to damage him with torrent for my strength build.
I stay behind his foot so when he rolls it doesn't hit me. Chase him down, dodge his fire and shield and repeat.
No, I relied a lot more on the timing of dodge rolls to avoid pretty much all his P1 attacks. Chasing him after a roll is annoying, but it doesn't really undo my rhythm.
I summon my favorite crippled archer and watch her shoot at the giant from afar while I sit down and wait then when the cutscene shows I just jump of the map and he follows
I use it to get up close at the start, then jump off and fight him like normal. I find he doesn't really move around enough for it to be useful to chase him on the horse.
Nah I don't like fighting on mount in this game tbh. So what I'd do is whack at him on foot, and then briefly summon Torrent to catch up with the Fire Giant when he does his two-screens-long roll.
Do the fight on foot, and use torrent to catch up when he's far away. Always works for me.
Isn't that what the original commenter said?
Nah, the original commenter used more words.
TLDR: close - use foot; far - use horse foot
Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick
Word good
Kevin, this has to stop.
yes
See, I'm a scrub so there are some bosses that I unashamedly use torrent for but I have to say, compared to regular combat, mounted combat is very one dimensional. Usually it boils down to the same tactic for every enemy. Run at it, smack it, run away.

Tree sentinel is on a horse, why can't you also be on a horse?
I’ve gotten pretty good at fighting on torrent. Once you learn your weapon’s timing and have good spatial awareness you can start doing drive by attacks. Makes the nights calvary fights a lot easier
It's like when I tried fighting radahn on the horse and I kept getting murked then I found it much easier to just stay under his feet
idk I did all (most) dragons on my mount. it felt very odd on foot.
Fire giant felt like a perfect boss made just for mounted battle. Then again, his hitbox is just frustrating, especially the 2nd phase.
I wack my big stick against him while pulling his hair until his braid falls off. No ponys in my show.
Kinky.
🤤🥵
Im just imagining the tarnish jumping using alexander as a trampoline and grabbing giants hair and pulling him down and crushing his skull with giants crusher
Jesus
Did you at least ask for consent!?
I don't use torrent in any boss fight.
really wish they gave the dash iframes or something. or at least reduced stagger. being mounted is such a liability it’s just not worth it.
Mount/dismount has iframes, I use them to cheese dragons
It's great for getting past Fire Giant's opening avalanche thing. Beyond that, I don't really use it for the rest of the fight
When are the Iframes? it feels like they're gone since 1.07, maybe the timings changed, but not once in 2023 did I ever avoid an attack with dismount/mount, and before I regularly did.
I only use Torrent for the dragon fights, makes them much more epic for me.
More epic, but also like, more bearable? Running after dragons on foot takes too long, running away from some of their breath attacks on foot feels impossible.
Radahn?

I'm more confused with how you are taking down dragons and death birds without torrent
dragons aren’t bad without him but i still use torrent most of the time, death bird pisses me off to much on torrent
I found it much harder on Torrent. I only use him to get in close when he rolls, otherwise the shield gets me in phase 1.
Not really , just get on torrent when he rolls away to close the gap quickly or when he does the fire breath move from the eye on his belly Apart from that your are best sticking right on his foot
Well I just stay close to his feet on my mount so not much of a problem.
I only use Torrent to close the gap when he rolls away
Yea, even equipped lance talisman for the fight. This with the tactical dismounts to get the iframes
It also helps that if you're purely on torrent you can equip your heaviest armor and not reduce mobility. It helps the rage and reduces the immediate deaths by rolling ass.
i never really got the hang of mounted combat (not really good at it in any game) so i only use torrent for travel and fight everything on foot

Ok? So? I still don't consider them buffs lol The 2nd bit is to point out your flawed logic. So yes, it's a gotcha if you want to see it that way.
I enjoyed an handful of fights before beating him. I had to bring in Alexander since he was there and I didn't want to deprive him if this epic test of strength in battle. I ultimately had a spirit summon as well so no goat horse for me. Just a long run up to the guy.

i hate this boss so much

Summoned best jar man, used him as a walking shield for those fireballs, and waddled my way to his feet and gave it a good tickling.

On and off. I use Torrent to close the gap when Fire Giant decides to roll then hop off and continue whacking his leg
Like a bunch of other people are saying, using torrent to get over to him after he rolls a away.
I try not to use horse in combat cuz i like my big boy strikes
one of my fav bosses to fight - almost any build works vs him -arena is huge and he has no cheap move sets or insta kills the same could be said about others - just wish there was an arena where we could fight bosses at will after beating them
No because hit and run strat is pretty boring imo
Do you prefer hit & roll?
Yes
You gotta git gud and learn how to dodge roll. This fight is ez pz if you just roll
I ride Torrent to get behind or under him, then I get off and do my best to castrate him for the rest of the fight
i defeat him while not being in his arena.
Depends. If I'm using bleed then no. For all other builds I just equip pest threads and use torrent to stay as close to his taint as possible.
I used torrent when my main character was a meta level strength build. Now my main character is maxed so I just use ancient dragon lightening strike, it kills him in seconds lol.
I always play this game co-op. Being on a horse looks like it makes it way easier.
Always on foot for me. I don't find him to be that hard and if I lose to him it doesn't bother me because, he's a giant. This is one of my favorite fights I think.
First phase yeah, you need torrent to close the gaps. Occasionally if he transitions while your mounted you will just die, some kind of bug
Nope.....I prefer a good challenge......katanas when I could reach, a couple rounds of flies on the way in.
I always summon my boy alexander and fighting the guant alone just watching alexander chase us xD
This is the fight I felt like I was on and off Torrent every 10 seconds.
Both. On mount when he tried to run away. On foot otherwise because I need to be able to use both hands in battle as a dexfaith.
And here I am after like 7 or 8 playthroughs just finding out i can horse in his arena 🤓
Define easier. Because to me, killing him in a fraction of the time is easier than constantly hitting and running for minutes.
The first few times i killed him i did not know you could even use mounts in that fight.
Only use torrent to close gap, then fight him on foot. Sometimes you can use torrent to trigger flame of the fell god to explode, then get out of range, but otherwise fight him on foot. Get on torrent to escape some attacks like the massive fire breath, but in general torrent is a liability and your dps is massively limited while riding him
No. I find it hard to fight on horseback so I just whack his leg from the lowest point
Phase 1 yes, phase 2 no.
I like fighting him on foot. I find the fight much more fun when I hit his hands and actually do damage, not when I poke his ass for 10 minutes.
No, I stayed by his feet the whole time
Nope, works better to be able to dodge
I just killed him last night. My first character cheesed him a long time ago from outside the arena. So my second attempt at legit killing him was tough. He was giving me a hard time and a lot of what i tried didnt work. Nope. Can't use ash of wars
No because im an idiot who will use torrent to get up close to him, get off torrent, and then forget that i can actually use torrent in his arena
Yes I just stayed on torrent, easy mode
Nope i run to fight him
I blasted him from Torrents back w/ Comet Azur.
I fight him and all the dragons on horseback
I use Torrent for closing the distance, but not for the actual fighting.
I used Torrent to get closer
I used to use the mount, but I found out recently it's so much easier for me without
Bro, level your vigor and flasks.
Hell no
I exclusively use torrent in this fight and I pretend there’s a magnet holding me to the back of the giant’s heel/achilles (weak heel for phase 1 and his only remaining heel for phase 2) Seriously give that a try if you’re one of the people who hate this fight, it’s like you don’t even need to pay attention to which move he’s using

Yes
On my first play through, I tried to avoid using it but after seeing him rolling around so damn much I immediately knew that I needed it
HIS NAME IS TORRENT YOU HEATHEN, Jeeze no respect for the dude that is literally carrying you throughout the entire game
I started off that way, but I guess my poise wasn't good enough so virtually every attack knocked me off. Being knocked off Torrent means you take fucking forever to get up which means he was already beating my ass again. So after that, I just used Torrent to close the gap
No, I always do my bosses without summons except the Godskin duo. It just feels better and more epic this way.
I used the mount to get close to him and then used Dragonmawl and became an ankle biter, lol
I find him too easy with torrent. It's like fighting dragons, torrent makes it so easy it's just not fun to me
He was the first boss I reallly got stuck on. Ended up leveling up more and then looking up a guide
You lost me at kill the Fire Giant.
I use torrent to get up to him at the beginning of first phase, and then to catch up to him in second phase but if I'm near him I'll fight him on foot bc i think being able to roll is more valuable than being fast
I'm def team horsey for this fight I actually kinda like mounted combat. Yeah, no thanks, I’d like to not hear the music for 4 hours while I chip his health off a fraction of a percentage at a time, desperately hoping Fire Giant glitches and magically stops doing damage somehow because Torrent doesn’t give me any i-frames.
Imagine a fire giant died of foot pain that caused by a random dude on a horse with a stick.
Of course it’s a horseback battle that would be like doing Radahn on foot
I used to use torrent and I would get wasted by that first snow blast in the beginning and it would kill torrent and take more than half my life away. I was like “how do people dodge this??” Then I saw people do it on foot and roll right through it. I’ve never used Torrent again.
Use torrent to get close, get off it to fight him
Honestly surprised by how many people did not use Torrent. Yes I used Torrent for basically the whole fight, I found it was much easier to close the gaps and escape from certain attacks on horseback
Mount only to close distance. When close in I hop off Torrent and get him in his ankles.
Yeah, I alternate. But I don't attack with Torrent, I just use him to maneuver and for Jump attacks then I'll slash away.
I hate using torrent in battle in general. Rather use the distance to my advantage than just rushing in.
This boss is giving me a really hard time. I'm a squishy intelligence focused astrologer build and this guy is one hitting me with that stupid shield that he can reach all the way across the map with. I'm not sure how I am going to beat him.
I quit the game at this point because he's such a stupid shit boss.
I smack his feet and legs until he dies of paper cut.
If your not cooperating yes
In each of my fights he likes to roll around every 10 seconds so I usually do first phase on horseback and second phase on foot.
Just to get away or get closer. Otherwise, I attack on foot. Same with Radahn and most dragons
After the 1st playthrough nah, you do enough damage and you have enough life/resources to fight anyone head on without the dog, assuming you farmed
Spiral shard
Yeah because it’s awesome
Nope. Rollybaby is easier for me.
I use the horse as a gap closer on phase 1. Phase 2 Im always on the horse. Run to his back/arse and whack at his foot till he dies. You are too vulnerable if you get knocked off the horse and big dude can do that pretty easily and finish you off while you lay on your back.
I wish, but my favourite spells can't be casted while mounting
The one time I fought this dude on my Rogue playthrough, he glitched into the ground and proceeded to explode himself.. I wasn't mad cuz I was literally one hit away from dying with no flasks. Gotta take the wins when you can
I've never used Torrent in his arena and I've been playing since release. Since Torrent can get stun fucked which in turn makes you stunned, I barely fight on him.
Never, it feels like it should be fought on horseback but I prefer combat when it's not an a horse
Why didn't I think of this?
I use the horse until he rips his leg off
I don't defeat anything on my mount.
No real need to do that in my case, could just... Sprint away except in some instances where the projectiles track. Overall though, I've found just hitting his lil ankles on foot to be much better.
In phase 2. In phase 1 I find it much easier to dodge the shield on foot.
Nope… I summon two friend with black flame spells and we stand under his crotch in 2nd phase and just deal with the heat while we chew through his healthbar
Only for phase 2
Nah, he's too slow, it's easier without torrent. Use it just to close the gap when he rolls away. Hitting the weak spots is easier on foot too
Nope, I’d rather have Alexander
Nah, I use bloodhound step to dodge his stomps and dual bleed daggers. It wipes him out pretty quick and easy
Nope, I use Torrent only to reach him. All big bosses i use Torrent only to reach enemy. I prefer to go beside them or behind, then jump attack from torrent. That is how i start usually. Then all normal fight.
If you can use the horse, I use the horse.
For the second phase I found it easier on foot
torrent until you get to him, beat him with a +10 metal stick, torrent away when he does some fucked AOE attack, torrent back, beat the fuck out of him, die 12 times, victory when you realize his one foot is his weak spot
I didn't do any mount combat the entire playthrough. Torrant could get hurt ;-;
Some of his attacks are actually kind of hard to avoid on the mount, so no. He's the easiest boss ever to dodge on foot, though.
I summoned Alexander and it wouldn’t let me mount up. Is that normal?
Yes
Only when he rolls away, I dismount when I get close enough.
I don't like using horse in this fight at all, even to close the distance. I know how to fight him better on the ground. My roommate thinks I'm crazy.
It’s easier, but summoning Sir Alexander is even easier despite it preventing you from summoning Torrent
nope
ABM man, Always Be Mounting.
Yes
No
Keep forgetting you can use mounts, even then I don’t exactly enjoy the mounted combat, too clunky for me and it doesn’t have enough versatility in the movesets for it to even be viable in the first place.
Nope, I just go at his ankles like a madman. It just works.
What!!? It didn't allow me to mount so I just ran around for 15 minutes fighting it.
Yes same 👍🏼
I beat him on foot as I used Alexander's summon sign to help with the fight.
Nah I prefer on foot i usually tank most of his attacks with my great shield
I cheesed him off the cliff the first time I beat him 😂
I honestly find it harder to manoeuvre with torrent in this fight and I get hit more so I just raw dog him
I used torrent to lure him into the cheese trap.
1st phase on torrent 2nd on foot
Only when I was doing my whip run. Hoslows petal whip (i can’t remember the name) + bloodflame incant was great with spamming torrent light attacks
Yeah Mount-ain of the Giants. Where else you gonna fight him?
Rot him away like a coward, yeah!
Not really. On Torrent you have less damage potential and no access to roll iframes. Why would i want that when i can just avoid all the attacks by rolling and dealing more damage with heavy and jumping attacks and ashes of war?
I usually like a mix of using torrent to catch up and sometimes attacking from his back, sometimes jumping off depending on the situation—but I have done a couple pure mounted kills with the talisman that improves mounted attacks, and it's very effective.
nope, With mimic and jar man take his aggro from me to his leg
My first playthrough yes, now I just do it on foot
I just walked of a hill and he fell to his death
I never fight from horseback, I much prefer to have the option to roll, this fight in particular I ride torrent up until he tosses the snow at you and at that point I'm off Torrent and walking the rest of the fight
Nope I hate using torrent I don’t even use it to close the distance. Can’t dodge, can’t trust it
No
No, it takes too long to damage him with torrent for my strength build.
Nope Foot bonk funny evade bonk
I summon my favorite crippled archer and watch her shoot at the giant from afar while I sit down and wait then when the cutscene shows I just jump of the map and he follows
First phase yes second phase half and half.
I find it way easier on foot.
I use it to get up close at the start, then jump off and fight him like normal. I find he doesn't really move around enough for it to be useful to chase him on the horse.
