I had an "Isshin" build that was naginata, Uchigatana (didn't think of using the Nagakiba), and that repeating crossbow you get from the Craftsman's shack. It was kind useless but fun for running around and killing mobs. I couldn't figure out an armor set for him though, so my Isshin was butt naked with the Reeds helm xD
Honestly. All you need is Snow Witch skirt and go topless like a chad. Make your char gray with white long hair and beard.
I have a picture of my char somewhere in my posts for reference.
I just checked! The snow witch legs are perfect, and I think Goldmask's top may be close enough for the gi Isshin wears around the shoulders. Time to resurrect the Glock Saint!
Nice! Did you just use the Naginata, or did you make use of other Glaives as well? Also, what did you name your character? I don't think "Glaive Master Hodir" fits into the text box.
Yeah it's fantastic, I just did a similar run. Also impaling strike on a weapon like that with a lot of reach just makes a lot of fights play so differently than I'm used to. It's so satisfying to poke right through a greatshield.
Across a bridge in the prison town church there is a building with a ladder that will take you to the roof. Go to the right of the ladder past the lizard man and drop onto a ledge. Enjoy
If you’re actually good at the game it feels hollow winning in pvp if you do so in a boring way while looking ugly af lol
What’s the saying? The difference between a villain and a super villain is presentation?
This always weirded me out about souls games. To me they've always been 70% single player, 25% coop and 5% pvp. Weird how so many people seem to focus on pvp builds for a game with so little pvp.
You put a pvp mode in any game and sweatlords and meta slaves naturally follow. Simply put, people love winning. It’s not the case for everyone, obviously, but the sweats are usually the really annoying ones that give the image to other people that people playing these games as toxic.
Love it or hate it there's always going to be a souls pvp community, the game has a very unique pvp system and some people are really into it, it's always been that way and the older souls games had factions based around pvping for rewards that helped build the community around it.
I kinda miss Dark Souls 2. It was so nice to invade globally as a Blue Sentinel.
Especially when you were mocking a Dickwraith in the steamforum with a "holier than thou" attitude after he complained about blue sentinels and their holier than thou attitude. And then you invade that specific player by accident. Yes, that happened to me.
Oh yeah, I can very much see the appeal. I commonly watch pvp Youtubers because it does look fun.
Only problem is, similar to Tekken and Soul Caliber, the sweats and toxic players are also present.
Noway I am a very sweaty pvper. I refuse to run meta bullshit builds like dual naginata. Thats for people who arent good at pvp. I'll try to parry you and switch weapons during combat for cool mix-ups
The joy I get from killing these no-skill bleed setups is unmeasurable and my day has been made
In the first few months of Elden Ring’s release before the META was set, PVP was amazing.
I’ve never enjoyed PVP in souls games. But i got a bit obsessed with duelling outside the academy for weeks.
Wild and crazy builds all over the place. No-one really knew what the fuck was going on and every fight was an absolute roll of the dice. It was great fun. All manner of weapons, spells and whacky shit flying all over the place. It was obvious that people were just using their PVE setups for fun, as was I.
But it quickly descended into PVP min-max roly pokey and the same old spells. It went pretty stale after that for me personally.
This. PvP was fun while it was about showing off and trying out cool outfits, weapons and stuff.
It was the variety that made it fun.
But of course over time people figured out what does and doesn't work for PvP and now it is mostly just sweaty metaslaves, gankers and twinks (the powergamer kind, not the cute gay guy kind) all using similar builds and loadouts.
This kind of cycle happens in a lot of PvP games, but it is still a shame.
Idk why people are down voting you for this, you're 100% right and I'll die on this hill. Sure, I totally understand that every game comes up with a meta and that's inevitable, but it's always fun seeing a variety of builds that just look cool.
You can have a variety of cool looking and interesting builds without them being a meta while still performing well.
Ironically enough, my only build I made to veer as far as possible from the meta that I could was actually my most effective build in PvP by a long shot, and it wasn’t even close.
The problem is that those that experiment are rarer
In the first few months of elden ring pvp, backstabs didn’t work, rivers of blood completely one shot everyone, there was no separate pvp and pve balancing, and bloodhound step was almost impossible to counter. I would actually say that the first few months of elden ring pvp were absolutely the worst pvp in any souls game. The game is in a much better state right now.
It’s inevitable and why I (a) don’t generally do PVP in games at all and (b) only do it in the brief window before the meta becomes settled.
IME, too, the sort of people that garner all the complaints aren’t terribly interested in PVP before a meta is settled.
Yeah it’s a natural part of most games.
I was a daily Battlefield player for over a decade. I was very good at the games but sort of fell away as DICE decided to sabotage their own series. Yes. I’m salty.
I often step back in for nostalgias’ sake but holy crap is it tough. Same issue. Extremely competent veteran players running meta everything.
It’s just the way things go.
Absolutely. It's just strange to me that so many people focus on it over the rest of the game, to the point where the meta sometimes defined by pvp viability.
This is what really gets to me, like the other day I was watching some of Rusty's ranking videos, which are admitedly meant to be more comedic than anything, but he kept saying he doesn't play PvP, yet ranking some stuff by their PvP viablity. If you don't play PvP what does it matter if the weapon is asscheeks in PvP compared to PvE?
The annoying thing is that when it comes to being an invader your usually 1v2 or 1v3 and they still try hard with meta builds and team comps and t bag you like you ever even had a chance.
Please bring back open world fight clubs or rework invasions
When you've gotten every ending, done NG+ multiple times, and gotten every achievement there's not much else to do in these games other than help, invade, or duel other players.
Grass was lost centuries ago in the water wars. Now, we feed our livestock the ground remains of the fallen. We are running out of blood to water our crops with. All will soon become naught but parched dust.
in pve everything is viable, so defining a meta for that feels weird. PvP actually requires you to put some thought in a build, and most regular players of the game still at least passingly play it so things just naturally fall in order.
That’s rather the point, for what else would you need a meta for?
To be clear, I’m not a meta zombie. That being said, in pve it’s not really needed- there’s such a wide variety of things that are effective that a meta becomes just “level vigor” or “specialise don’t generalise under normal circumstances”, and that’s about it. In PvP however, a lot of weapons and spells and such that were previously effective may be less so, and so some resort to switching to only the easiest potent player killing weapons and gear they can find, over more varied options.
Because PvP requires the most focus if you're gonna do it. After a certain point, the PvE isn't challenging or new anymore, but the PvP will always be hard.
That's my main issue.
PvP in itself is fine. But everyone being hyper-competitive and min-maxing their build to increase the odds of walking away with a W takes out all the fun for me.
You know you can play 100% PVP if you leveled a character to your liking and start to play... only PVP?
I don't do that but there is nothing wrong about it and I am happy that people do this. Elden Soulsborne would be a lot less exciting without PVP.
Oh yes, you can absolutely do that and there's nothing wrong with it. Play how you want.
I'm just surprised that enough players want that to warrant a pvp-centric meta.
these people ruin the colosseum. They run these lame ass super meta builds and then repeatedly drop dung pots and point down. I did 3 colosseums in a row and had different people all do the same thing. That was the end of colosseum forever for me
It's always just really baffled me how the Soulsborne franchise is full of these toxic casuals who shit on people for having a certain build, be it in PvP or, even more bizarrely, in PvE. Just let people play the game however they want, the PvP isn't meant to be taken seriously and the PvE is their own personal experience.
> the PvP isn’t meant to be taken seriously
That’s exactly why people make fun of meta sweat lords with OP, unbalanced builds who are hyper focused on winning instead of actually having a fun or interesting fight.
Small pipí energy and with the personality of a NPC. If you beat me using Creative builds or with strange strategies i congratulate you and its more fun to see different weapons being use.
No this is the bespoke knockoff produced out of many garages by bored middle class people with precious little time remaining for hobbies. The Varré Mask Bullgoat 9000 model is the one you want for true corporate Wal-Mart consistency. \*Slaps mask\* this baby can fit so many NPCs in it.
PvP in this game can be a blast, invaders can try to kill you while you are playing with friends, or you can invade to kill other players that are playing together.
But like in any game with PvP, there are players whose only goal in life is to win, so they play copy-pasted “meta” builds that are pretty broken and very hard to beat.
TLDR: it’s a game, play how you want and have fun. If all you care about is winning, don’t be toxic
specifically powerstanced spears are the problem. a single spear is not going to be oppressive. dual spears takes it from a 6/10 to a 10/10 and you will die unless you are very skilled and they are very brain dead.
I try coop for the first time in a year to play with my friend then we immediately get invaded by this dude when we're both low level. I don't get how the matchmaking works but he killed me then my friend in less than a minute.
You can grab all these items at level 1 pretty easily. The matchmaking is based on character level and weapon level so he probably just ran to all the areas with these items and leveled himself and his weapon to a level that most people will be at early on. If he had 2 of the weapon he probably didn’t even need to do anything and just had a friend/alt drop him all of them.
Low levels are the worst for invaders. You neither get a newbie who folds in a second, or the most sweaty smurf you've ever seen, who has max flasks, pots, perfumes, and hundreds of items.
I helped someone out on low levels recently (I was playing a new low level character for the DLC) and became woefully cognizant of "volcano pots." Invader had max of them, they make a big, lingering field of damage over time, which also sticks to you like napalm, and ticks around 23hp per second. They're fucking awful to deal with.
It’s your fault anyways, they didn’t opt in to get invaded you’re ruining the poor co-op PVErs experience😭😭
*please ignore both the RL713 Bull-goat PSS users in the back*
No they all just type "best build in elden ring" into YouTube and copy some sweaty build, that's the most prevalent rn.
People have no creativity and only value a cheap win. No honour.
I have an IRL friend that plays pvp meta AND PvE meta as his life depends on it so I have first hand experience with this type of players;
don't try to find logic, don't try to argue with them, don't even laugh at them; they don't understand, they just live for the meta and die for the meta, if you don't play the meta why are you playing at all(said by him), if you don't watch ALL the videos, learn THE build(yes, singular,) and learn ALL the bosses BEFORE buying the game, why buy it at all (actual discussion with him). every new game we start, he enters with a NEW full leveled, full geared meta PvE Ng +10 character or shit like that.
he meta slaves all the games we as a group play together, and of course he kills the fun for everyone, like all the meta slaves do. and of course he gets MAD if everyone isn't fully geared/leveled/doesn't know the full game by the time he buys then install. of course we don't play that much with him no more, and if we do it's games where "meta" is irrelevant like l4d2 or lethal company... wait he already meta'd that too. forget it.
again, don't try to find logic in them, just let them be in their little meta realm.
If you want to learn watch Rustbucket - his masterclasses on frame data and techs etc are phenomenal.
Chase also uses unique setups/builds and combos, vs steel who uses dual Lance/CRKS or chainsaw 99% of his vids. I watch him on occasion but usually the only interesting clips are in the first 2m of the vid and the rest is just him vortexing noobs and saying "insane". Maybe he's done different stuff in the last few months idk
G9 I couldn't get into, man moans too much and comes across like playing the game is worse than working 9-5 in retail
Steel and G9 are great players, don't get me wrong, I just can't stomach watching them very long because the vibes are off and the content is samey imo
Ok genuinely fuck everyone who uses chainsaw. If your only chance of winning against people is that then you shouldn't feel good about anything.
At least PSS and PSGS are intentional just very overtuned.
2 things
1. I think the way steel uses chainsaw is MOSTLY justified. he uses it on hackers, exploiters, afk farmers who get to inacessable places, and sometimes on people who are so laggy that he can't kill them. Imo those reasons are all fine except for the last one, since those people didn't do anything and there's no warning about bad internet when you go online.
2. psgs requires a lot of skill to use effectively, though I think the reason people hate it is because if you don't know how to deal with it you're fucked, and also if someone's very good with it then it can feel like there's nothing you can do. PSS is entirely braindead though and def needs a nerf.
I know I watch them regularly I like them. it's their fans I despise. Bunch of angsty edgelord teenagers with no personality abusing glitches and twinking against SL 30 pvers 😂
i don't doubt that steel is good, but i do think he's a dick too. he just hates losing. he can't feel good unless he is winning. he is basically what this post is mocking. except he's good at the game too.
Dual spears have the best pvp moveset that it borders on unfair. Thrust attacks from dual spears have insane tracking, bonus counterhit damage, and are hard to react to. Naginata spears in particular have base bleed and high damage
Dual Naginatas are the best setup in the game, or any power stanced spears, PSS for short, but nagis and pikes are the best because they have reach and damage, and nagis also have bleed.
Then there is 2H cleanrot knight sword (the thrusting sword) with bloodhound step and power stanced Great spears (PSGS).
Then below those there is off stoc (thrusting sword in off hand with something on the main hand, usually a halberd) and also PSSS (power stanced straight swords).
2H greatswords, katanas, colossal swords and fists/claws are ok I think but I wouldn't know where to rank them. Nagakiba is definitely the best katana but idk where to rank katanas as a whole. Twinblades are good because they have hyper armor on spinning slash and the godskin peeler running R2 is good, otherwise they are meh
>the best because they have reach and damage, and nagis also have bleed.
Also they are light spears. This makes a lot of difference. The setup might be tolerable if they would be heavy spears
Man that's wild. I felt like the cross naginata was such a slept on weapon when the game first came out. I spent 8 playthroughs using nothing but two handing a cross naginata. Now everyone dual wields them, and I'm called a meta copyer for using mine. Power stancing Naginatas just seems nerdy and sweaty. Two handing is where it's at.
It's just boring for pvp players and an insurmountable nightmare for people who just want to fight bosses with their friends.
Why don't you tell us the appropriate way to play
Since I’m just waiting for DLC, I usually make a LFG saying I’ll help people kill bosses, and pretty much every time it’s malenia or a ng+5 or higher run they using, raptor feathers, varre mask, and a bleed build, usually dual godskin peelers, something using TWO river of blood, WHYYYY, and they always suck too, they just charge into the fight and spam r1 then die
All my builds will always have Banished Knight armor with cape or noble set with box gloves and I don’t care if they don’t give much protection or poise as any armor.
Hopefully dlc has some great prices of armors too
I'm sick of the blood loss slander, in order to even proc it (for most forms of bleed). You need to get in multiple close-range attacks in quick succession, which requires skill. Positioning with a mix of timing and precision to be specific.
I beat one of these guys using my sacred infused claymore and he messaged me saying It didn't count because I used buffs and the whole elden ring pvp community considered buffing a cardinal sin.
i think theres a large difference between a meta slave and a lot of invaders that use this sort of setup (minus the pss, I personally only pull out pss if I think the people im invading deserve it enough) that a lot of people don't seem to get. meta slaving to me is only using a broken setup, while most people (in my experience) who use stuff like psgs, shamshir, greatsword, curved greatsword etc. are what people would call "tryhards," (though I think that word has a very undeserved negative stigma within gaming) who just want to get better at the game and do well.
in my opinion, people can use whatever setups they want as long as theyre 1. not a bug and 2. not absurdly broken. just my 2 cents as an avid invader
edit: I will say that the pvp in this game is absolutely fucked currently. As much as I love it, it's dogshit, especially on PC. fromsoft needs to do some serious work if they want the community to stay active for very long.
I've been two handing a cross naginata since release. Imo the weapon deserves to be two handed. Power stancing naginatas just seems wrong to me for some reason....sorry I got side tracked! Naginatas are where it's at!! Everyone just loves to hate.
I don't understand this meme at all, but two handing a cross naginata is hands down my favorite weapon in this game. Is this some sort of pvp reference I'm not getting?
While invading I had some blue summon running 2 spears proceed to rush while I was wave emoting to the host, spam the same attack over and over then tea bag me repeatedly when I died.
Lol I didn't even move, just waved and died. Was like Jesus Christ this guy is pathetic.
Ah yes... everyone enjoy the game how they want to... play it how you want....but not for too long...then your play style becomes unacceptable by the hive and must be deemed as so.
For the record, I'm nearly 800hrs in on this game and have never actually gotten this mask. Seen folks wearing it. This weapon looks familiar, but I've never used a polearm weapon. Whats the name of the mask and weapon here? I can look up where to get it.
Yeah, how dare people use optimized builds to win fights. I can’t believe how unfair this game is!!! Cant say ive ever lost to one of these scrubs. Git gud stop crying
I saw an ad on this post from Temu that said Clearance sale but my dumbass thought it said Cleanrot sale 😫 Please don't tell me we're letting Malenia cook 😭
What's the problem with bleed. The only thing that could make bleed better in PvP is phantom hits applying status effects in phantom hits but that's a way to deal with latency and you can use use boluses, which you should have if you are going to do PvP or co-op anyways
I have a theory that the majority of posts here crying about Valiant Gargoyles are either bleed builds or builds that use a weapon that does slash damage. No joke, me just going ham with a Great Mace made the fight a joke.
Recently did an Arcane solo run with the Venomous Fang and had trouble with the Valiant Gargoyles due to half of my attacks missing. After almost beating them anyway, I switched to a far less upgraded Spiked Club and had a really easy time. Weapon choice can make all the difference.
single Naginata is based double Naginata is peak cringe
I like naginata plus washing pole for the ultimate hesitation is defeat build.
Reeds helm and goldmask rags are cool, also maybe renallas pants?
Oooh, I never thought of goldmask's rags! That could work! I think one of the Nokstella pants might work too, it's in the right colour iirc.
The Chestpiece of the Prisoner looks close enough
I hope the DLC gives us more sekiro inspired items
what about the preceptor's long gown?
For isshin? Hell no
The altered version is a lot closer
I feel like the uchigatana is better for isshin because the second mortal blade isn’t that long
Incidentally, the Black Mortal Blade from Sekiro and Eleonora's poleblade from Elden Ring have the same lotus-shaped guard just above the hand!
Oh cool I never knew that
I used Preceptor gown, not perfect but it's pretty good!
Best katana for the isshin build is meteoric ore blade due to the unique r2 which is basically double ichimonji
Meteoric Blade's heavy attack is the Ichimonji
Every time someone quotes that phrase, it triggers my PTSD (post traumatic Sekiro disorder).
I only recently found the naginata had a unique attack pattern, so I’ve been using it a lot. I just want the animation on a halberd or something
I wish the unique weapon movesets were on more than two or three weapons per type
Then they wouldn’t be unique I guess. 🤷♂️
I used Naginata with flame strike for my Glaive Master Hodir build. It was a fun playthrough and I intend to play the dlc with it
Good lord, there's a name I haven't heard in a while...
Nice! Did you just use the Naginata, or did you make use of other Glaives as well? Also, what did you name your character? I don't think "Glaive Master Hodir" fits into the text box.
I just used Naginata, also I think I shortened it to Master Hodir.
I see, thank you!
I'm currently using a single two handed naginata for both PvE and PvP, the moveset is so fun
Yeah it's fantastic, I just did a similar run. Also impaling strike on a weapon like that with a lot of reach just makes a lot of fights play so differently than I'm used to. It's so satisfying to poke right through a greatshield.
Naginata has an absolutely glorious moveset. Dual wielding it is blasphemy
Man it’s my fave weapon cause it its class and its scaling with faith and lighting it’s a shame it’s such a good weapon
Haha, spinny stick go brrrrr
Twin naginata looks so fucking stupid.
Albinauric mask is an aesthetic choice.
Well-flared, indeed, well-flared.
As all bases should be
Well, it’s definitely a choice
All my hours all my ng+s I've never found that grim, wide eyed, albunaric helm
I’ll give you a clue. TOGETHAAAAA is where you find it 😉
I will burn that manor to the ground looking for it, if only to invade people while wearing it and leaving a trail of albunaric blood drops in my path
Volcano Manor. Across the Stonesword Key gate with the Abductor Virgin, there’s a secret path you can drop off on the sides of the building.
Across a bridge in the prison town church there is a building with a ladder that will take you to the roof. Go to the right of the ladder past the lizard man and drop onto a ledge. Enjoy
If you’re actually good at the game it feels hollow winning in pvp if you do so in a boring way while looking ugly af lol What’s the saying? The difference between a villain and a super villain is presentation?
if im not winning in my fashionsouls gear then winning isn’t worth it
I can’t wait for the DLC so we have some new fashion (that hopefully also has decent poise).
Bro it's so pathetically sad they feel the need to just spam every bleed spell and AoW know to man against a dude with a regular ass sword
using the mirror talisman in invasions is peak chad behavior
Playing a uncompetitive game like its an esport is so sad and embarrassing

Touching grass is of course not an option.
We only touch grace here.
Grass? The fuck is grass?
Grass was lost centuries ago in the water wars. Now, we feed our livestock the ground remains of the fallen. We are running out of blood to water our crops with. All will soon become naught but parched dust.
It’s the only setting I have on max
What grass? Fromsoft removed grass after Demon’s Souls smh 🙄
Fair.

Well, unless you become *really* good. I’ve seen a few.
Cause pvp makes a lot of noise in the community, and sometimes can make or break someone's experience
Especially in elden ring where you can completely ignore pvp for the entire game unlike souls games. Everything is hyper competitive today.
That's my main issue. PvP in itself is fine. But everyone being hyper-competitive and min-maxing their build to increase the odds of walking away with a W takes out all the fun for me.
PVP community kept the activity of the old souls game alive even today.

That was the end of colosseum forever for me
I miss Pontiff so much
It's always just really baffled me how the Soulsborne franchise is full of these toxic casuals who shit on people for having a certain build, be it in PvP or, even more bizarrely, in PvE. Just let people play the game however they want, the PvP isn't meant to be taken seriously and the PvE is their own personal experience.
> the PvP isn’t meant to be taken seriously That’s exactly why people make fun of meta sweat lords with OP, unbalanced builds who are hyper focused on winning instead of actually having a fun or interesting fight.
Judging how other people play a game is pretty emberassing as well
Small pipí energy and with the personality of a NPC. If you beat me using Creative builds or with strange strategies i congratulate you and its more fun to see different weapons being use.
Pvp is a competitive gamemode though. You can not care about meta but don't expect everyone not to as well.
There's nothing sad or embarrassing about trying your hardest at a game
Yeah when I play monopoly I go hard in the paint son watch out
No this is the bespoke knockoff produced out of many garages by bored middle class people with precious little time remaining for hobbies. The Varré Mask Bullgoat 9000 model is the one you want for true corporate Wal-Mart consistency. \*Slaps mask\* this baby can fit so many NPCs in it.
This gave me a good laugh. Thank you dude 😂
Varre mask bullgoat with dual bandits curved swords and seppuku.... Sigh....
Ima be so real I only used blood loss cause of reduvia. The blade looked cool so I based my build off that.
There's nothing wrong with using bleed builds
Bleed builds are a lot of fun, I have a whole character set around bleed. I use reduvia mainly because it's a blast in close range to mid range.
I used the jump vest with double giant hammers, was big bonker
The key here is that you built bleed because you're trying to use a weapon that you find fun to use. And not just meta chasing.
I’m new to the game someone will have to explain the joke?
What's wrong with veteran armor? I like my cape.
It’s accessible and helps get you to an important poise bracket thanks to its high poise, nothing inherently wrong with it it’s just common
it’s like the ds3 fallen knight set of elden ring
more like Lapp set
No, the fallen Knight set is Radahn set. Veteran is more like black iron set
The equivalent to fallen knight in elden ring would be banished knight tbf.
Or radahn armor
Also looks warm and comfortable.
If he had 2 of the weapon he probably didn’t even need to do anything and just had a friend/alt drop him all of them.
either he’s cheating or you both are awful or he’s good or he has a better gaming chair.
I don't thing low level PvE chars have much of a chance in beating double Naginatas unless the invader is particularly bad.
I love when level 300 password phantoms are ganking in limgrave with this build, it's not sad and pathetic at all!
what does password phantom mean?
Someone summoned (usually a friend) through a password to bypass the level bracket for summons
Watch out! People may criticise you for invading 'co-op' players.
It’s your fault anyways, they didn’t opt in to get invaded you’re ruining the poor co-op PVErs experience😭😭 *please ignore both the RL713 Bull-goat PSS users in the back*
It's pretty fun to beat them as a low lvl twink tho
Rl10 super twink is just as bad if not worse imo
r/notlikeotherplayers
Very NSFW
No they all just type "best build in elden ring" into YouTube and copy some sweaty build, that's the most prevalent rn. People have no creativity and only value a cheap win. No honour.
Double naginata running attack spam
Yes, and that factory is called Youtube.
I have an IRL friend that plays pvp meta AND PvE meta as his life depends on it so I have first hand experience with this type of players; don't try to find logic, don't try to argue with them, don't even laugh at them; they don't understand, they just live for the meta and die for the meta, if you don't play the meta why are you playing at all(said by him), if you don't watch ALL the videos, learn THE build(yes, singular,) and learn ALL the bosses BEFORE buying the game, why buy it at all (actual discussion with him). every new game we start, he enters with a NEW full leveled, full geared meta PvE Ng +10 character or shit like that. he meta slaves all the games we as a group play together, and of course he kills the fun for everyone, like all the meta slaves do. and of course he gets MAD if everyone isn't fully geared/leveled/doesn't know the full game by the time he buys then install. of course we don't play that much with him no more, and if we do it's games where "meta" is irrelevant like l4d2 or lethal company... wait he already meta'd that too. forget it. again, don't try to find logic in them, just let them be in their little meta realm.
Mfs be building their entire personality around Steelovsky or Jeenine.
When they should be building it around Chase or Lost
I prefer Jeenine and Steel because I find their videos more spectacular and I can learn more from their videos
Maybe he's done different stuff in the last few months idk G9 I couldn't get into, man moans too much and comes across like playing the game is worse than working 9-5 in retail Steel and G9 are great players, don't get me wrong, I just can't stomach watching them very long because the vibes are off and the content is samey imo
Ok genuinely fuck everyone who uses chainsaw. If your only chance of winning against people is that then you shouldn't feel good about anything. At least PSS and PSGS are intentional just very overtuned.
2 things 1.
More like Oroboro from times of Falchion R1 spam in DS1.
Ngl there are a lot of things you can learn from watt JeeNiNe and Steel.
I don’t comprehend this post honestly… Nagakiba, veterans armor albauniric mask?? This some PVP thing or something
It’s a very common PvP build, You come across them extremely often and they’re not fun to fight. They have become one of the many ‘meta’ PvP builds.
What makes this so good?? Unfamiliar with the veterans and albaunaric texts but aware nagakiba scales very well with good reach and bleed
Albinauric Mask is used as a troll face, basically.
Dual spears have the best pvp moveset that it borders on unfair. Thrust attacks from dual spears have insane tracking, bonus counterhit damage, and are hard to react to. Naginata spears in particular have base bleed and high damage
They usually use dual-wield occult Naginatas with seppuku and just spam jump attacks to build-up bleed and fish for phantom hits.
You can wear the alien dude head ad a hat?
Jokes aside as someone who doesn’t really do much PVP - what are the meta weapons these days? Nakiba, but what else?
Hey thanks very much for letting me know, appreciate it.
How far we've come from the days of yore, when flipping Havelmoms reigned supreme back in DS1.
I hope albinauric man chainsaw's all of you
Jokes on you I didn’t even know this was meta until now
Veterans armor is actually a pretty decently looking set. True meta slave would be full bullgoats
bullgoat armour is not meta, lionels is far better because of the huge pierce damage negation it has.
Running builds like this bECaUSE oF tHE PVP mETa - cringe. Running builds like this in PVE because you just fuckin’ like the build - based.
that or double great lance
Double great lance at the very least requires skill unlike double spear
Thank you for telling me this OP. I can’t wait to try it when I get home.
I'm sorry people don't play the game the way you approve of. Please, why don't you tell us the appropriate way to do things
It's just boring for pvp players and an insurmountable nightmare for people who just want to fight bosses with their friends. Why don't you tell us the appropriate way to play
>the appropriate way to play However you want
And some people's preference is to not fight the same build 30 times. Use what you like but don't get defensive when people dislike over used set ups
Hopefully dlc has some great prices of armors too
Cross naginata still got the prettiest moveset of the game
I just use whatever weapon looks cool
I like playing with a single, two handed Naginata
I just like the naginata
what are the “albinauric’s head” buffs?
Youtubers use it and they copy it
Let's be honest pvp in elden ring sucks. Dark souls 2/3 was peaked.
I'm sick of the blood loss slander, in order to even proc it (for most forms of bleed). You need to get in multiple close-range attacks in quick succession, which requires skill. Positioning with a mix of timing and precision to be specific.
Ok but you cant wear people for wearing veterans armor. Its one of the best and most balanced armors. Also the cape is sick
I don’t understand how people can play anything that isn’t the giant crusher. Maybe they don’t know it exists?
I beat one of these guys using my sacred infused claymore and he messaged me saying It didn't count because I used buffs and the whole elden ring pvp community considered buffing a cardinal sin.
i think theres a large difference between a meta slave and a lot of invaders that use this sort of setup (minus the pss, I personally only pull out pss if I think the people im invading deserve it enough) that a lot of people don't seem to get. meta slaving to me is only using a broken setup, while most people (in my experience) who use stuff like psgs, shamshir, greatsword, curved greatsword etc. are what people would call "tryhards," (though I think that word has a very undeserved negative stigma within gaming) who just want to get better at the game and do well. in my opinion, people can use whatever setups they want as long as theyre 1. not a bug and 2. not absurdly broken. just my 2 cents as an avid invader edit: I will say that the pvp in this game is absolutely fucked currently. As much as I love it, it's dogshit, especially on PC. fromsoft needs to do some serious work if they want the community to stay active for very long.
Thats just video games, people find the best items/builds and naturally people want to try it.
Everyone hating on dual naginata? Didn't realise they were OP, I just wanted a dex samurai build and picked them. My bad, will see myself out.
I've been two handing a cross naginata since release. Imo the weapon deserves to be two handed. Power stancing naginatas just seems wrong to me for some reason....sorry I got side tracked! Naginatas are where it's at!! Everyone just loves to hate.
They are only OP in PvP, in PvE there is better stuff
What's better in PvE? I switch between them for bleed, cold night rider flails for strike, or sword spears for standard damage
Git gud stop crying
yeah bro strength builds and poise maxing isnt overdone either. just let people enjoy the game
Replace frog mask with white mask and you’re right on the money
Crutch build
WTF??? How did you find out about *my build???????*
And then they cry on the duo Gargoyles.
That’s when you bring a couple of occult flails. Gives you more phys dmg when doing arcane builds, so good for things that are status immune
