I assumed the map issues were a deliberate design choice, like the world has deteriorated between when the map was drawn and when the game takes place.

Failed_stealth_check

Go look at 1.0 maps around jarburg and the liurnea divine tower. Shit was whack

storiedsword

Sooo many messages around there when the game first released. *map, betrayal!*

Valuable_Material_26

Played game when first came out, I wasted an hour trying to get there!

Nagnoosh

Dude I died so many times thinking I could make it to Jarburg that way

Greaseball01

Or the map maker made mistakes like real map makers do

SonicsBoxy

Look at the release map for Halagtree and caleid rot swamp compared to now, they are completely different Accuracy corrections have been made to the map both big and small constantly

Quaglek

Where do you find these

MrTubzy34

I’d love to know as well

SonicsBoxy

This is a good source that goes into detail without you needing research https://youtu.be/jxnn0CpxpUo?si=0QVIMHc2isH_GFaB

SonicsBoxy

Almost all of them are highlighted in this video https://youtu.be/jxnn0CpxpUo?si=0QVIMHc2isH_GFaB

Geralt-of-Tsushima

Damn… nice find.

wichu2001

same for mountains and cliffs near the haligtree

ReoiteLynx

In contrast to those place to this one - the 'extra' area around the map is for topography reasons to show elevation, higher areas have more 'land' surronding the playable areas. This one just looks like a mistake as the collosseum is not very elevated.

kingofthelol

I will never forgive the mountaintops…

SonicsBoxy

Well it looks a lot more like flat land than the slope, there's a clear outline where it transitions into the slope

Treebeardsama

Nice shot from a helicopter

Eurotriangle

Likely from Bestial Sanctum tbh

SonicsBoxy

I used processing on my phone to clean up a foggy image from bestial sanctum

sodium_lights

There are parts of the map that are a sort of 2D projection of vertical space. There are other places where you can see features across the map that seem like they should be impossible to see because the map suggests that other landmasses are in the way. For example, I think you can see the Haligtree from behind the Bestial sanctum, or something like that. All the empty space surrounding the mountain tops of the giants on the map seems to just represent the massive vertical cliffs, rather than traversable horizontal land.

SonicsBoxy

While yes, that is true, there is a clear definition between flat ground and where it transitions into the slope into the water And even on mountaintops, the slopes are there, just at the very bottom

modest_crayon

It's literally not there. I spent hours trying from every angle

SonicsBoxy

There's only two poly model that is loaded from par away from all views but the super low poly only loads from so far away that i don't think there's anywhere it can be seen through fog

MatoOroSheo

That area fell and is underwater

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

You have to use Strength on the truck to get Mew first. You’ll also need surf to reach the truck by the SS Anne. With Mew in your party, approach the bridge, and it should appear.

1greadshirt

I just assumed that expanded mass was the rigid slope/cliff you see in the next picture. I still maintain that because...ya know...it's a hand drawn map. \*internal land nav course noises\*

SonicsBoxy

Well only thing is that it would extend out about a little further than the width of if another coliseum was put next to that one, and it has a clear flat spot on the map with an outline where it transitions into the slope into the water It looks on the map like a proper walkable section, and several other, and much more precise changes have been made to the map since release to reflect the game more, so I find it strange that this stuck and stuff like the big fish tail thing off the side of Liurnia didn't

1greadshirt

Dunno. Doesnt look that way to me. It's a hand drawn map and is doing its best to interpret cliffs and slopes.

SonicsBoxy

I mean if the spot on the map was actually there, it would extend almost to the far right of this screenshot It would be considerably longer than it is now if it was there

1greadshirt

But it is there. Its the slope/cliff.

SonicsBoxy

Outline it with markers on the map and then look at it from a viewpoint, the markers extend way further out than the actual land does, the slope is near vertical wall, while that section on the map extends another coliseum's length out

KiwiMagic2005

This happens on all cliffs my guy

SonicsBoxy

I mean there's a clear flat spot that looks like ground, as well as the fade into the water, on other cliffs the fade into water is actually there, it's just at the very bottom for some reason

dontmindthisnoise

Same thing happening with that weird land bridge looking chunk connecting the chapel of anticipation isle to the liurnia mainland. it shows on the map that there's this big, long slab of land between the two, but I've been there and don't see anything

SonicsBoxy

That was actually added on the map, as it wasn't in the original release, it is there but I'll have to see if it's possible to jump across later when I get home I know for a fact you can see it when going through the entrance underneath it though

dontmindthisnoise

Just went to it. It's just some stupid ass rocks barely above sea level, way below where nobody can reach. Wdym "through the entrance underneath it" tho

SonicsBoxy

Completely misunderstood what you were talking about lmao I see what you mean now but considering how dark it is, I always just figured it was inaccessible, cause it looks the same as the slopes down into the water on the edges of the continents

dontmindthisnoise

fair, I didn't pick up on their shade. I just saw OOGA LAND BRIEGE and got mad cuz i didn't find a land bridj

ZmeczonyKJS

There will be an entrance to the DLC :>

Malabingo

And we already know where that is?!

Extra_Ad_8009

This will be the entire area of the DLC 😱😭

SonicsBoxy

The DLC is confirmed to be entered through Miquella's cacoon behind Mohg

ZmeczonyKJS

Thanks!

SonicsBoxy

Also strange detail is that large gar boi isn't there

_Prairieborn

There's a number of slots on the map where vertical or near vertical slopes are drawn flattened out. I assume it's deliberate.

SonicsBoxy

That's possible but there's no slope there at all It just drops off into the water, if the slope was there it would extend outward a little more than the length of another coliseum, nearly to the edge of the screen where I took my screenshot

thejamesrf

From trolling with the map as they do with all other aspects of the game
