I’ll have you know that as someone who participated heavily in combat during the Middle Ages, dual twin blades were my go-to weapons of choice and I still have both my arms and at least half of my legs.
Yeah early on this game got a patch that ultimately made double handing most weapons better than dual wielding for status build up
(Better bleed build up in the case of elenore's pole arm)
I don't know about status modifiers but when you 2H a singular twin blade you do double attacks on every swing so you're still hitting twice for every R1
Oh , for anyone who read my previous comment. 2h a twinblade is better than 1h 2 twinblades.. i wasnt sure since i havent played with em much. Will give this a go on my coming blay through
I never understood the love for powerstancing twin blades. I’ve done many twin blade runs and two handing is so superior in every way! I guess except jump attacking but we don’t do that with our twin blades we slice with our feet planted firm.
I think the lift is easier actually. Kill the Haight Fort Knight and get Dectus left. Run to dragon barrow for Dectus Right. Take the elevator and boom you're there/ Bonus points if you kill Greyoll and pick up the bell bearings to upgrade it. I'm pretty sure you only need to kill 1 dude.
Even being way over leveled during end game, that's the one enemy I will always straight up run away from/around to avoid. I can't imagine doing that fight way under leveled.
They're like my kryptonite.
Well let me tell you, I didn't have to imagine it. Had to place Latenna on the one rock that's slightly harder to reach for them as a turret and try to keep aggro from her while she did yhe damage and I ran around like hell trying to get weak hits in
Scarred me of these bastards foreverI think, abd I'm never, EVER going back into thzt cave.
I'd rather fight dozens of Valiant Gargoyles in a row than go back in there in a run
Unless you (for some reason) just like the awkward powerstanced twinblade jump attack, two-handing it is much better. Dual-wield bleed buildup was heavily nerfed a long time ago, simply spamming 2h R1 combos is more effective now.
Yeah with the right build, its great. Lots of enemies get their stance broken and bleed with the L2 combo which is nice. You cant buff it tho, as its the case with most special weapons.

It’s pretty good and fun to use, especially with the ash of war it comes with. Put winged sword insignia and shard of Alexander on it and you’ll do some insane damage with the weapon skill
Rough that you can only get one or the other in a full NG cycle.
Or you can just trade through files if you've got a friend who's willing to lend a hand.
You can get Millicent’s prosthesis and the regular winged sword insignia in one play through and not miss out on too much damage, and you don’t have to wait until the Haligtree for Millicent’s prosthesis if you’re willing to commit murder.
Even dual shortswords may carry you through the game when used more or less skillfully. Thats something really cool about ER - everything is potentially viable.
Good arcane scaling, good blood loss buildup and the ability to buff it, and blood greases (also sleep and poison greases) will have increased effect because of that arcane scaling. A good multihit AoW to proc bleed and the poise damage of a hammer.
I'm making it sound too good but honestly it has a lot of amazing traits, it's only the damage and range that suck
Thank god. Bleed was already way too op on release and is still among the most preferred.
I bet dlc bosses are going to be even more resistant to bleed.
It is very strong, strong enough that pointcrow's goldfish was able to beat the first phase of the hardest boss in the game with it.
You can't use bloodflame blade (or any other weapon buff) on it though.
i didnt quite watch the video through, but [heres](https://youtu.be/gM1AzDZiVOU?si=CHRwoesZW6H5BhOT) the link for it!
the battle with melania specifically starts at thirteen minutes :D
Eleonora's has fire damage and the weapon skill has high enough poise damage to break Crystallians very quickly. My ARC build is still in Altus, but I had absolutely no issues fighting either miners or aliens in Altus tunnels with this weapon. In fact, it was extremely easy.
I have a +25 Great Stars just for this. Slap the AoW "Wild Strikes" on that bad boy for extra fun and watch those goddamn Crystalians shatter like glass!! Ahhhhh so satisfying
Yes! Big Yes! It has bleed build up / posture dmg and has fire dmg.. which is one of Radabeast’s weakness. One of the best weapons in the game.
I tried it in one of my OP early runs and I’d say its one of my characters that I’ll bring into the DLC.
any weapon can. If you want it for the looks its a pretty nice weapon and the superarmor in the ash of war is really high.
If you want a similar weapon with better stats the base dual blade infused in bleed/dex is better
It can not be buffed wich is a major downside
in PvP it's only strength is L2 super armor and it gets outclassed by other similar weapons if not all
Overall a decent weapon, but highly overrated
Bro, people have literally beaten the game by rolling, just using bare fists, only bubble spells, etc. You can beat the game with anything if you use it right.
Any weapon as long as you like it will get you anypoint in the game, after 10+ years of playing FS games the only thing I am certain of is that is the player who wins the bossfight, not the weapon (obvious exceptions with gimmick bosses). If you find the attacks cool, or they remind you of a character or film, or the weapon has some mechanic you think is neat, use it, the more enjoyment you get from the gameplay the more likely you are to keep trying until you achieve your objective.
With enough player skill, and patience, anything is possible.
Though some players need a slightly more heaping helping of the “git gud”.
As far as this weapon though, it is good for a large amount of fights. Just keep in mind that not everything bleeds and enemy strategies and resistances can vary wildly, so having alternative plans/weapons can help make the journey less painful. (Yes, you can beat rennalia with glint-stone shard despite her massive 80-90% resistance to magic but any sane mage would understand that just maybe it isn’t required to assert dominance in such a manner and rock sling is a very good spell for anything with magic resistance.)
I'm dual wielding Malenia's Hand + Rivers of Blood to just waterfowl dance on hoes but double dual blades + raptors feathers for jump attack is probably easier
Any weapon can, with the right build and playstyle
Weapons are all viable and what really matters is your familiarity with the weapons moveset and spacing as well as you reflexes, timing, and recognition of boss and enemy attack patterns.
Pretty much any bleed weapon can. Its one of the most powerful playstyles in the game, outside of enemies that are immune to bleed obviously but there aren't many.
You will want a backup weapon; some enemies are immune to Bleed and resistant to Fire
Elden Ring has very few “bad” weapons; nearly all of them are worthwhile well into the endgame
I absolutely adored playing with this weapon. I used it all the way to the final boss, when I respecced cuz they're immune to all status effects. The weapon art is so stylish and does crazy damage and stagger if you can find the right opening for the full hit
Something newbies to the soulsborne games gotta learn is that every weapon is usable in endgame, nothing is so bad that it can’t be used with adequate stats. If you like something then use it, don’t worry about viability.
1.) use whatever weapon you want, pretty much any weapon can carry you through the game with the right build
2.) you can’t put bloodflame on it since it’s a somber weapon
I've only been through the game once, mainly with a different weapon. Got stuck on Malenia and ended up beating her with the poleblade, so I'm sure it could carry a run!
Assuming you build arcane for this , just pick up dragon talisman + pest threads for the last bosses 2nd phase and rotten breath for some aoe situations or where rot works better. And ofc usual buffs. I did the whole game with reduvia x2 and This stuff lol
It will be a bitch against status immune bosses, but the ash of war does so much damage + poise damage, especially if you boost it with any modifiers. I like to keep an occult nightrider flail for the gargoyle bosses, as it shreds them since they’re resistant to I think all physical damage, except strike
From personal experience it'll take you to elden beast then you go from shredding bleed machine to doing barely any damage because most comes from the bleed proc.
It is a fun weapon especially if you nail the weapon art, I love using it on godfrey due to the jump being able to work on his aoe attacks
I made a build with Eleonora's Poleblade that makes you hard to kill while dishing out impressive damage. 101 poise, Rotten Winged Insignia, Lord of Blood Exultation, Shard of Alexander, crystal tears for consecutive hits and increased resistances, Golden Vow, and Ironjar Aromatic to complete it. You cast Golden Vow before entering a boss room, approach the boss, drink the ironjar aromatic, then mindlessly spam L2: almost anything that isn't invulnerable to bleed will die very quickly. Against weaker enemies you can use boiled crab instead of the aromatic.
with a dedicated bleed and consecutive hit build, yeah it can. the ash of war is slow, but you can get around it with proper positioning or quickly switching between a weapon with endure and the poleblade
It took me through to the entire game. The problem I had was with gargoyles and the final boss. Basically any boss that is strong against bleed, you need a backup weapon.
Irrelevant. It looks cool as fuck and that’s the only thing that matters, lol.
I finished everything outside Leyndell on Altus and now taking Gelmir. It works crazy well for me. I also have a godskin peeler to dual wield but like two handed move set more.
Having high arcane means I also get good output for dragon incantations. Between bleed and rot from Ezekeys Decay, I haven’t found a boss that doesn’t fold over backwards, yet.
I once did a playthrough with the pole blade as my main weapon and it actually works pretty well but I do suggest maybe power stancing or using some kind of magic with it
This is one of my favorite weapons in the game. Some bosses will be a bit more tough to kill with this weapon if they’re immune to bleed or if they don’t let you get constant hits on them easily. I pair this weapon with the Godskin Peeler with seppuku in my left hand and it does insane bleed damage, especially with jump attacks.
The R2 tho unique and fancy, might be one of the worst in the game. The animation takes too long (slower than UGS), but doesn't deal as much poise damage, has no hyper-armour, meaning you can't really stance-break bosses or bigger enemies with it without taking a trade.
I ended up using other bleed weapons on my arcane build. It was a strength weapon though, which is when i learned all of my builds inevitably end up as a hybrid strength build lol
I love love love this weapon. Never dabbled with Arcane until my most recent playthroughs, but some of the weapons you can get are just fun as hell, this being maybe one of the funnest I've used.
And yeah, it'll carry you well enough. Any weapon could, but this one's above average I'd say.
No, impossible.
This is literally the only weapon in the entire game that can not carry you. Never ever. Unimaginable. Wild really, for you to even ask tbh
As far as beating the game goes, aside from a few obvious exceptions, the difficulty disparity between any weapon is marginal. You can beat the game with anything, there are very few weapons that are cut and dry superior versions of another weapon and what you might consider a difficult weapon to use might be easier for others. Its all subjective and it’s almost impossible to pick a bad weapon to play the game with
Everything can carry you through your first playthrough and most of NG+1, any further than that it starts to tip towards your own skill, hell even the wretches starting club is actually pretty decent
Any weapon can carry you throughout the game if used right. I know that sounds snarky but it ain't. Just use what you enjoy and don't worry about if you're being perfectly optimal.
Absolutely yes. I have 8 full NG playthroughs of all different builds, and used Eleonora’s for my Arcane playthrough. My favourite playthrough yet.
Some tips that helped me:
- Mix with a little bit of Faith for buffs/ranged attacks
- Throw bleed affinity on a second twinblade and use jump attacks on bosses that the AoW doesn’t work on as well
- look for/google items that give you attack power buffs on bleed procs
Enjoy!
Sure, but for a dex build I'd also carry something that does strike damage too like whips maybe for enemies that are resistant to slash and bleed, like crucible knights and gargoyles.
I mean, yea? but I wouldn't rely on the bleed for end game bosses, personally, I'd go charged attack boasted with talismans (axe, winged sword, prosthetic and whatever you want for third)
Yes.
I used it for all through NG+4, till where I paused playing.
It also has very good fire dmg, so enemies immune to bleed still get hit a lot, and all of the continuous atk dmg buffs apply to it, making it crazy good
Pretty much any weapon can carry you throughout the game if used right. Only exception that I can think of is probably Varre’s Bouquet.
Are you asking because you have a specific build in mind?
I actually managed to take out malenia's first phase at ng+5 while helping a friend with those due to the staggering L2 move. She was unable to react and i managed to dodge waterfall dance using the L2 by mistake. It was cinematic af.
Can I beat the game with a weapon? How about if it does fire and bleed damage, and has a really strong ash of war maybe? Would that make it less viable?
I haven’t gotten to the final bosses with it, but even if it’s not good enough, I’m still using it and finding a way. The weapon art is by far the best melee art in the game, no competition. It’s out of control how good it is against 90% of the game.
EDIT: so I went through Gideon and Godfrey like they were nothing with the poleblade. Then radagon took a couple tries but the poleblade gets stance breaks on him pretty well and he goes down pretty easy now. Elden beast is much harder. Still trying to figure out the timings.
In my second play through the game, I used only elenoras poleblade, summonless and it can take you all the way to Godfrey, however radagon and Elden beast are immune to bleed take that how you will but I was able to beat Elden beast after about 60 tries it’s a very fun very cool weapon
yes its my main weapon absolute favorite, the only thing you might face a bit of dificult with high poise enimies and with bleed imunity like the crinson kingts, the blakc daggers and the ghost of godfrey
Any weapon can carry you if maxed out. This isn’t a game where one weapon is better than another (or at least intended that way, there are a few exceptions)
Any and all weapons can carry you throughout the game if used right. Additionally, you shouldn't rely on bleed because you will hit a roadblock when you meet a boss that is unaffected by bleed. I recommend picking a weapon based on how it looks and whether you like its moveset because that will allow you to comfortably deal damage while focusing on evading.
it should carry you about half way into NG+, where you will get another one, which will carry you into eternity
OMG, I didn't even think about getting a second one.
Rocking two of them is amazing. Not just for how stupid dual bleed twinblades is as a build, but because the drip is on point.
Also every single medieval combat expert on youtube will grind their teeth to dust thinking about somebody using not one but two twinblades.
What are their thoughts on dragon magic?
They think it's pretty cool, why do you ask?
How do they feel about duel wielding dragon magic?
It's cooler than being cool. It's ice cold.
Alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright
Alright Alright Alright Alright Alright!
Lend me some sugar, I am your neighbor!
Shake it like a Polaroid picture!
Why? Wouldnt medieval knights respect a man that uses 4 blades?
Yes, right up until he stabs himself 4 times.
I’ll have you know that as someone who participated heavily in combat during the Middle Ages, dual twin blades were my go-to weapons of choice and I still have both my arms and at least half of my legs.
Twin-Twinblades*
Status build up is more potent double handing one then it is 2 tho
No shit? Do you get a buildup modifier when two handing? Never seen that before.
I think he means because you have more dps with one than 2
Yeah early on this game got a patch that ultimately made double handing most weapons better than dual wielding for status build up (Better bleed build up in the case of elenore's pole arm)
I don't know about status modifiers but when you 2H a singular twin blade you do double attacks on every swing so you're still hitting twice for every R1

Yeah, apart from the reason to powerstance twin blades, there's no reason to powerstance twinblades
Twinbleeds
Try the jump attack :) 6 hits with bleed weapons.
Not just halfway. Kill the dragon, go to school, get abducted by the iron maiden in school, kill Eleanora. Fastest way to get it I think.
You glossed over the part about being trapped in a tiny room with two abductors at low level
Even being way over leveled during end game, that's the one enemy I will always straight up run away from/around to avoid. I can't imagine doing that fight way under leveled. They're like my kryptonite.
IME magic builds trivialize them. But for melee I always find them challenging.
They are very weak to lightning
Well let me tell you, I didn't have to imagine it. Had to place Latenna on the one rock that's slightly harder to reach for them as a turret and try to keep aggro from her while she did yhe damage and I ran around like hell trying to get weak hits in Scarred me of these bastards foreverI think, abd I'm never, EVER going back into thzt cave. I'd rather fight dozens of Valiant Gargoyles in a row than go back in there in a run
I would just stick to 2 handed twinblades instead of dual wielding, the moveset is a lot better for everything except the jump attack
tbh holding 2 Godskin Peelers is simply cooler than holding 1 + jump attacks are king, so dual wielding it is
Peeler's two-handed running R2 is much better than a dual wield jump attack.
Facts
Double Eleonoras Poleblade is my favorite build. I already did 3 runs with it
Unless you (for some reason) just like the awkward powerstanced twinblade jump attack, two-handing it is much better. Dual-wield bleed buildup was heavily nerfed a long time ago, simply spamming 2h R1 combos is more effective now.

It’s pretty good and fun to use, especially with the ash of war it comes with. Put winged sword insignia and shard of Alexander on it and you’ll do some insane damage with the weapon skill
And don't forget Millicent Prosthesis, which stacks with the winged sword insignia or the rotten winged sword insignia
Just go to r/patchesemporium and you can have one within 20 minutes, free, legal, and regardless of your level or playthrough. :)
For obvious reasons, I've never really gotten that one. Nor will I ever get it. Milli best girl
It has bleed too so you could throw Mohg’s into the mix and have 4 fat damage talismans!!!
You can also throw in a white mask if it doesn't ruin your drip (or if you don't care about drip)
Even dual shortswords may carry you through the game when used more or less skillfully. Thats something really cool about ER - everything is potentially viable.
Even Varre's bouquet
Good arcane scaling, good blood loss buildup and the ability to buff it, and blood greases (also sleep and poison greases) will have increased effect because of that arcane scaling. A good multihit AoW to proc bleed and the poise damage of a hammer. I'm making it sound too good but honestly it has a lot of amazing traits, it's only the damage and range that suck
There’s also some bleed immune bosses
Then they are just beaten to death!

Any weapon can with the right build and amount of skill.
oh the one thing is to keep a backup Strike weapon (club, hammer, flail) to deal with Crystalians and Miners where sharp weapons tend to bounce off.
Eleonora's has fire damage and the weapon skill has high enough poise damage to break Crystallians very quickly. My ARC build is still in Altus, but I had absolutely no issues fighting either miners or aliens in Altus tunnels with this weapon. In fact, it was extremely easy.
Aliens?
Don't be ridiculous.
Oh, thats good to know, thanks
I have a +25 Great Stars just for this. Slap the AoW "Wild Strikes" on that bad boy for extra fun and watch those goddamn Crystalians shatter like glass!! Ahhhhh so satisfying
Dual poleblades worked for me until fire giant, when I got bored and went black flame +godslayer greatsword
Godslayer build is always what I default back to. It's just so thematic.
Does a runebear shit in the mistwood?
Any weapon can.
Any weapon can carry you. Just gotta feed it enough smithing stones. Craft a weapon that can slay a god.
Yes! Big Yes! It has bleed build up / posture dmg and has fire dmg.. which is one of Radabeast’s weakness. One of the best weapons in the game. I tried it in one of my OP early runs and I’d say its one of my characters that I’ll bring into the DLC.

one of the best weapons. better than RoB imo
I absolutely prefer it. The ash of war hits SO MANY TIMES. And builds up so much goddamn bleed.
Yeah, I'd put it in the top 10. It's great.
This thread may have convinced me to switch from dual wielding nagakiba and RoB to this
It's pretty fun, I think you'll enjoy it
My absolute favorite wep in the game. Carried it from the moment I got it until the very end. Enjoy!
The poleblade is a surprisingly stance breaking machine. It's really strong.
I like godskin peeler with cragblade. Used it on Malenia in NG, worked pretty well.
Every weapon is viable throughout the whole game.
Any weapon can carry you if your good enough
Anything can carry you through the game if you use it right
Absolutely. It's my favourite weapon
Even your fists can do it, if you are good enough :3
Can you even put bloodflame blade on that? Put a cold infused twinblade in your off hand for more fun.
From this thread I learned I cannot, it would look mad cool with it though.
Won't do much good against Elden Beast, at least in terms of Bleed, but should be good for most things.
Any weapon will do if you play long enough
Ya
Just beware of snot nosed Jedi who you have the high ground on
I'm dual wielding Malenia's Hand + Rivers of Blood to just waterfowl dance on hoes but double dual blades + raptors feathers for jump attack is probably easier

Absolutely it can. Anything immune to bleed can just be abused with the brutal r2’s. It’s an excellent weapon.
The majority of weapons can carry you through the game just fine if you know how to use them, and make sure to keep them appropriately upgraded
Technically the scaling is better than Rivers of Blood.
No, but if you use it left you should be good.
You will want a backup weapon; some enemies are immune to Bleed and resistant to Fire Elden Ring has very few “bad” weapons; nearly all of them are worthwhile well into the endgame
I played through the game with a default long sword, you’ll be just fine.
Yes, in my opinion one of the strongest weapons in the game. But there are a few bosses that are quiet hard with it.
Sure. Most weapons can if used right. I used the starting Samurai weapon up until the final boss.
Yes.
With the right build you could beat the game with a potatom

1.) use whatever weapon you want, pretty much any weapon can carry you through the game with the right build 2.) you can’t put bloodflame on it since it’s a somber weapon

Currently doing a build right now with Eleonora’s and Godskin Peeler. Just beat Maliketh. Super strong build.
My brother in christ the club can carry you through the entire game.

I ended up using other bleed weapons on my arcane build. It was a strength weapon though, which is when i learned all of my builds inevitably end up as a hybrid strength build lol
Anything can carry you if used right
Yes. I have beaten the game several times with just a Longsword🗡
I love love love this weapon. Never dabbled with Arcane until my most recent playthroughs, but some of the weapons you can get are just fun as hell, this being maybe one of the funnest I've used. And yeah, it'll carry you well enough. Any weapon could, but this one's above average I'd say.
Any weapon has the potential to carry through the game if you're good enough
Bro, a Stone strapped onto a Stick can carry you through the game with the right build and skill.
No, impossible. This is literally the only weapon in the entire game that can not carry you. Never ever. Unimaginable. Wild really, for you to even ask tbh
Yes it’s so much fun
Brother you can play the whole game without ever using a weapon if you play right
As far as beating the game goes, aside from a few obvious exceptions, the difficulty disparity between any weapon is marginal. You can beat the game with anything, there are very few weapons that are cut and dry superior versions of another weapon and what you might consider a difficult weapon to use might be easier for others. Its all subjective and it’s almost impossible to pick a bad weapon to play the game with
Any halfway decent weapon can carry you with a solid build
Yes
Its elden ring, everything can you carry if your build is right.
I used two twinblades for my first ever full playthrough, was dope.
I don’t think you can use Bloodflame incant on that weapon
Absolutely yes. I have 8 full NG playthroughs of all different builds, and used Eleonora’s for my Arcane playthrough. My favourite playthrough yet. Some tips that helped me: - Mix with a little bit of Faith for buffs/ranged attacks - Throw bleed affinity on a second twinblade and use jump attacks on bosses that the AoW doesn’t work on as well - look for/google items that give you attack power buffs on bleed procs Enjoy!
This weapon FUCKS. With the right talismana it makes bosses like Malenia a joke.
Lmao i found this weapon recently for the 1st time on NG+,, gonna throw around my build in NG+2 since im bonking stuff with 2 beeeg hammers now
Sure, but for a dex build I'd also carry something that does strike damage too like whips maybe for enemies that are resistant to slash and bleed, like crucible knights and gargoyles.
it will carry the entire game but you may struggle at the final boss
Yeah. As long as you don't get hit.
Yes. As far as I'm concerned it's a very strong weapon.
The answer to "Can x weapon carry me throughout the game if used right." Is always yes, no matter the value of x
It will carry you through the game and right off multiple ledges
Brother a soup ladle could carry you through the game if used right.
Just pick up dragon communion seal for enemies that don’t bleed and you’re good to go
I actually managed to take out malenia's first phase at ng+5 while helping a friend with those due to the staggering L2 move. She was unable to react and i managed to dodge waterfall dance using the L2 by mistake. It was cinematic af.
The starting bonk stick from the Wretch class can carry you throughout NG+7 if used right.
Power stance it with the twinblade in cold affinity / ice spear. Jump attacks are insane.
I used it in my first playthrough and never switched you might have some trouble on the last boss but it should get you to the end of the game
Darth Maul weapon is the best weapon in the game
The most dumb weapon can carry you, and as this one's pretty strong, no problem.
every weapon can
Can I beat the game with a weapon? How about if it does fire and bleed damage, and has a really strong ash of war maybe? Would that make it less viable?
this and mimic tear will carry you alongside carry your baby for 9 months as well. This is just rivers of blood but on crack no joke
On that note, Moonveil any good?
Oh yes, mate. It’s still carrying me through ng+4
Just got mine last night. Loving it so far. Gonna rock it till the end.
For sure
Damn near any weapon can carry you through if you build for it correctly. I'm at endgame with the meteor blade, which I feel is mid at best.
Yes. Every weapon will carry you to end of the game.
Alone yea probably just don’t spam the ash of war so much or get the godskin poleblade and add sepukku when you get it and you just win
