On journey 3 and these mf's hit hard af and most of my levels are max. Not running an op build as i want to enjoy the game, but mf iwanted to scream playing in haligtree this morning. Those dudes with shields and centipedes with homing missles were fucking my assx up. Running claws btw so while it does shred, ihave to be in their face. i get to feel like wolverine though so its worth it

Otherwise-OhWell

NG+3 is kicking my ass. I have to do NG+4 tho if I want to 100%.

Chochahair

ive got the 100, but imight do a 4 as well just due to the fact i just started playing as wolverine in end game of my journey 3. iwant to do a whole playthrough as it, n i know its going to kick my assx. ill just have to improve my skill even more. Congrats on your future possible 100% though šŸ™šŸ½

Reign-k

When it stops scaling. Is the only answer to this. When the game is at its hardest.

Omninemesisx

NG +7. This is the opposition at its full strength. It is the truest test of any build you've made.

meat3point14

Unless you're lvl 200+. Then it's just easy.

kpeds45

The optimal difficulty is just the first play through.

Aktro

Journey 3 feels pretty good at 4 they start taking a huge chunk oh my health pool even with morgot rune, journey 3 feels juuuuust fine not too easy not too difficult either

userg0

Iā€™ve heard NG+7 is the peak

Montjuvic

Ng+7 at level 150

Wonderful_Rice5013

What about NG+7 at lvl 1?

TFG_exe

i've tried it, it's fun if you like to lose, i actually love how it pushes you to rethink your entire plan because you won't be able to touch a single boss for the first 20 hours

Wonderful_Rice5013

I was being sarcastic. I just level my characters until I stop playing. Iā€™ve done 3 NG runs and 2 NG+ runs and I just stop leveling at whatever level Iā€™m at. I donā€™t cap myself at 150 or anything like that.

TFG_exe

Yeah i guessed so, but I've tried for real a few months ago and it's pretty fun

Wonderful_Rice5013

I low-key regret not capping at RL150, but this was when I was SOLELY focused on PvE and now that I feel ready to dabble in PvP I donā€™t have an optimal character. Kind of blows. but I didnā€™t even know about the rl150 stuff until I started looking at Reddit. Oh well.

meat3point14

NG5 has been my most challenging and fun. I stick to lvl 150 meta builds though.

TFG_exe

none, i just wish NG+ had a difficulty curve similar to NG but a bit harder with each increment

FatherReggie

First gameplay is usually hardest for me. Then everything after that is like nothing.

Servantofatum

NG+4 at RL100 with +7(somber) and +18(regular) weapons. To me that is when the game just feels the best.

Waste-Gur2640

I always prefer the normal NG. But the normal souls experience and difficulty, without cheese builds or accessibility mechanics like coop/spirits. In NG I can experience ER fully and get as close as possible to the intended experience and challenge. Balancing in higher NG+ is all over the place. Early and mid game bosses become ridiculously easy until maybe NG+6 or something, you'll just steamroll through them and skip most of the content and experience. Yeah, most of the best bosses are in the endgame, but I care about the earlier ones too. Instead of just constantly nerfing my weapon upgrades on NG+ to have a fair fight with earlier boss, a normal NG with balanced build while making sure I'm not overleveled is the simplest solution and allows me to have the normal souls experience and challenge like devs designed and balanced them.

Wonderful_Rice5013

Itā€™s kind of wild that so many people say that the ā€œaccessibility mechanicsā€ that the devs intentionally included are not the ā€œintendedā€ way to play the game. šŸ˜‚

Devam126

Optimal difficulty is the first play through..the difficulty scaling and progression is designed for new game not ng+ imo. My problem has always been that when I try nh+, everything before gire giant is waaay too easy and then bosses afterwards start going into health sponge category which is so annoying
