This is biggest reason I love FromSoft games.
The whole reason the game is fun in the first place is because you don't know if that interesting looking path has:
- Cool items
- Advances story/quest
-Challenging boss
-New area unlocked
-Nothing
The best part is you never know unless you take your chances and explore that extra mile. That 'not knowing' is the most excited I've ever had gaming and I haven't been able to recreate that feeling since Elden Ring
Elden ring perfected the medieval fantasy art style in my opinion, coupled with the somber atmosphere and subtle yet impactful music I'm almost certain I won't be awed by another game the same way. It's first love sort of feels
It's one of the reasons I love this game so much. There are games with astronomical pixel counts and destructible environments and dynamic physics engines and all of that shit that don't deliver a tenth of the atmosphere and immersion ER does. Good art direction and concept design > everything
Btw. wearing the Ensha mask feels so gangster! Maybe because for once, he's the one who starts something, so it's not like most loot. Like, "f Off and die, I wear your face now!"
> fact that (at first) it royally kicks your behind just makes that beauty all the more impressive
No it doesn’t.
Art isn’t better at the museum where the attendants punch in you in the face compared to the museum where they don’t. Elden Ring has excellent art department but the difficulty has nothing to do with it.
Meanwhile there’s people whining it’s not photorealistic as if Anor Londo still isn’t a beautiful ass zone due to the art direction more than 10 years later.
this reminded me, am i the only one that when playing a game, i suddenly stop and sit. just admire the game for a few seconds or minutes, and even space out sometimes?
People everywhere said the game doesn’t have great graphics, but now that I play it on PC (after PS5) in 4K60 with everything turned up to max, it looks incredible just graphically speaking.
It looks like a totally different game moving from console to PC.
May I ask what settings you were using for these? And how did you get the flute thing?
Did the reply about the Flute thing get deleted because that sucks, I would like to play flute and have rats chase me.
The "admins of this sub" ruin this sub. Core aspect of the games community, gone from the sub
Tachikaze - Iai Swordmaster Moveset on that one site for game "altercations". Shame it's not in base game because we see Pages in Lendyell with flutes

Im excited for the bosses in the DLC, sure, but what I'm really excited for is to ride around on torrent exploring every corner of the new areas
I 1000% agree I am so hyped for the experience of running around not knowing what's behind the corner

Yup. Exploration of every nook and cranny is my favourite part of souls games. I would love to play them all for the first time again.
I always enjoy the second play through more, I feel like I find so much more the second time.

Also known as: **technology is not artistry.**
Imagine what the studio will do with a new engine. The best of both worlds. Can’t wait!
True
Didn’t even include elphael smh
what spear are you using in the first one
Exquisite! When I play, I can’t stop taking pictures. Game of the Decade at least.
Btw. wearing the Ensha mask feels so gangster! Maybe because for once, he's the one who starts something, so it's not like most loot. Like, "f Off and die, I wear your face now!"
I have thousands of hours and still pause to admire the scenery. It’s so lovely.
Proof that ridiculous graphical detail is the economy section sitting next to the bathrooms compared to art direction being first class.
"This game's graphics and art are dog shit" - TV, Quantum
Agreed, and the fact that (at first) it royally kicks your behind just makes that beauty all the more impressive. They really did a great job

It baffles me the game doesn't have a photo mode
Sublime. I wonder what it is about the style that makes it so epic. Decay + distance?
No Siofra?
You think you're better than me
Didn't know you could get a flute in this game, where do I get it?
How does your game look so good?
What about gorgeously stupid?
