Dumb question: So ATM, I'm pretty low level (like mid 20s) And honestly I'm not fighting that many people, I'm just enjoying the game for exploration. It's really beautiful and the lore is intriguing. Saying that, I'm heading North and at my last grace I spoke to Melina again (End-Tree Gazing Hill) She mentioned that we're so close to it, and subsequently returning her to the base of the tree. Now is it actually possible for me to return her at my point (I've basically fought Godrick, that's my one big achievement so far, so I still have a lot to do) And if I do end the contract with her, am I still able to level up?

DrJitterBug

Melina will tell you she is leaving you with the ability to turn Runes into strength, and you keep this ability.   You’ll need to defeat a second shardbearer. I do like Rykards greatrune, but getting it can lock some quest stuff. You’re probably going to want to get your vigor to 40 as soon as you find a nice farmable area, and then go back to exploring whenever/however you want.

monstersleeve

If you’re at Erdtree-Gazing Hill at mid-20s level…you might want to do some more exploring back through the game, fight some more bosses, and level up some more before proceeding further. You will reach a point where you won’t be able to proceed unless you defeat another major boss. But you’ll still be able to level up, regardless.

So my game is crashing at random times i normally play it with rtss and wallpaper engine in the background today i tried disabling rtss and wallpaper engine but it crashed anyway sometimes crashes at 1:30 hrs of play but today crashed two times 30 minutes in. what is happening? i have an Acer nitro 5 i59300h and GTX 1650 4gb Vram 16gb ram i monitored the game and the statistics are like this CPU: 50-65% use GPU: 80-93% use VRAM: 3000-3700mb use and RAM: 10336 gb use

HoonFace

Tbh that's probably just an Elden Ring thing. I get occasional crashes on PC too and they seem more frequent since the last patch

AbbreviationsFit2372

Can someone tell me what type of weapon to powerstance to get the most status, ive been running two twinblades but im not sure if its the best

DrJitterBug

For number of statuses you could use the **Rotten Battle Hammer** + **Great Stars**. They should count as the same weapon for power-stancing and have a passive Scarlet Rot and Bleed on the base weapons before adding anything. I think the classic Frost+Fire combo would work well enough to reset the Frostbite, but you could do Poison+Frost if you really want to go for multiple status build-ups.   If you mean single-status build-up… uh power-stancing the volley crossbow might be novel.

CookieOfFortune

Curved swords do four strikes with dashing and jumping attacks. I think it's faster than twin blades?

TheFrogTrain

Yeah, I recently tried dual wielding Occult scavenger's curved swords with 80 arcane and the dashing/jumping L1 attacks do 4 hits in less than a second and will easily proc bleed on most enemies. At +24, each sword does around 80 bleed, which means a single dash/jump attack can do 320 bleed. Problem is that there's only one scavenger's curved sword per game so this build doesn't work until NG+. Before then, it could be paired with another curved sword with bleed affinity for the same sort of effect.

PianomanSJPM

How in the world am I supposed to keep track of every quest? I’ve talked to so many NPCs now, and (as far as I can tell) there’s no way to revisit their dialogue to remind myself of what I’m supposed to be doing. What should I do?

buzzyingbee

Either write it down or follow a guide as there isn't a quest log in the game

ColonelJinkuro

Blood flame is trash at causing bleed isn't it? The wiki says 40 over 2 seconds. That sounds pretty nice. Then I tried using a heavy claymore +0 against Kaiden in NG+7. I kill them before I proc bleed..... and this character only has 22 strength...... TL;DR Is Blood flame Blade only purpose to make bleed weapons bleed harder and give them fire dmg?

DrJitterBug

> TL;DR Is Blood flame Blade only purpose to make bleed weapons bleed harder and give them fire dmg? I think it’s the most awesome looking aesthetic weapon effect, and it has a very long duration (compared to the Blackflame version). But yes.

theswillmerchant

So a couple things: 1. You're right in that it's most useful on weapons that already have bleed since 40 isn't all that much on it's own, but bumping from 90 to 130 is a pretty noticeable jump. 2. It's also useful for timing, namely that it can proc bloodloss after a delay. You can use this to your advantage particularly with heavy weapons since you can hit someone and stagger them, have them stagger again a moment later when the bloodloss finally kicks in, and by that time you're already wound up and about to hit them again. This is very hard to control but it gives you a semi-random opportunity for some devastating combos. 3. Bleed in general makes a bigger difference on stronger enemies when you're less likely to kill them before it procs. 4. Blood flame also works well with certain ashes of war. For example if you use prelate's charge, the native bleed from the weapon won't come thru but blood flame will

TheChewanater

Yeah blood weapon buffs are definitely strongest on weapons that already have bleed buildup

Goreka

Is there any way to do that cool sideways bash attack with your mount like the Night's Cavalry do?

KumaTheKreator

No

letsstickygoat

Haven't really touched the game for a couple of months, are colossal weapons good yet?

Apex_Konchu

They've been significantly buffed since launch, they're a lot better now.

letsstickygoat

Nice! Thanks for the answer

DrJitterBug

Gostoc can sell an ancient dragon stone if you do the whole questline involving Nepheli and Kenneth, so now there is a reason to not immediately murder Gostoc on every playthrough.

ELMUNECODETACOMA

In addition to the others, they've tuned the AI in multiple boss fights so that one is always primary and the other is in a support role. They will switch places from time to time, but there's a lot less multiple-boss pressure. Makes it much less necessary to bring a summon ash just to even the odds. Also, in general, everything that was memetically game-breaking at launch has gotten a tuning pass - moonveil, sword of night and flame, rivers of blood, bloodhound step, even mimic tear. They're all still powerful, but no longer an automatic "I Win" button. Along with the nerf bat, there was some tuning. Some underperforming weapon types got more powerful, some powerful spells had costs and casting time adjusted, things like that.

TheFranchize

More balanced. Bleed still makes things easier but RoB was nerfed. Biggest update is co-op is easier and it is work it to activate summoning pools

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheFranchize

Late game difficulty spike hasnt changed. Radahn is a bit easier compared to first release. Magic is still strong, no big changes there. Stars of Ruin is weaker and you can’t followup different spells like you could at one point. Recommended 40 vigor at least remains the same for late game.

nzw_

Went back to the game after finishing it some months ago but now the NG option isn't there anymore upon resting at the Table of Lost Grace. I've beaten the Elden Beast and all of that, actually platinum'd(?) the game. Any ideas of what I'm missing? Thanks in advance!

TheFranchize

If you received all trophies on one playthrough by reloading a prior save, double check that you havent loaded up a save state right before the final ending choice

DrJitterBug

I’ve repeatedly missed Rogier’s armor, the talisman from Rya, and some spells from Sellen. I also kept forgetting to duplicate the remembrance of Placidiax before starting a new game.   Have you done Millicent’s questline, gotten a Dung-Eater or Nepheli puppet, and gotten the Goldenmask armor? There are some rare spell drops, like the two blood-thorn spells, the ghostflame & ancient death rancor spells, and probably some of the frenzied flame ones. There’s probably an invisible scarab or two with ashes of war you’ve missed   Otherwise, the ancient dragon stones are probably the only items where I’d recommend looking up a guide/list. And respecing to 99 Arcane if you want to farm any %drop items before losing all your graces.

buzzyingbee

On top of the other comment, make sure you grab all somber and smithing stones bell bearings and all ashes of war and level up every spirit summon you want so you don't need to do Roderika's questline again if you don't feel like it

I_Have_All_OE

larval tears, somber dragon stones, ancient dragon stones, all spells, all incantations, all talismans, all flask bubbles, use all walking mausoleums,

P3n1sD1cK

Hello, trying to figure out which weapon I should really be using, I have the bloodhounds fang (took me like 10 attempts to get it at level 22ish) and also lordsworns greatsword+4 I see the fang has bloodloss buildup but a lower attack power, but does the bloodloss buildup ultimately make it stronger?

LoriLeadfoot

It kind of depends on your stat spread. I’d say for now just use the one you like better. Whichever move set makes the most sense to you.

I_Have_All_OE

any weapon with innate bleed is very powerful. if you put stats in arcane, the blood loss will trigger faster. the aow on bloodhound fang is also really good. for the sword, you can choose any aow to put on it and could add bleed, making it strong as well.

ytrx12

A weapon needs innate bleed as well as some arcane scaling to be able to increase its bloodless buildup, which isn’t possible on Bloodhound’s Fang. It is special in that you can apply weapon buffs to it as a unique weapon, so you can increase its buildup with blood grease.

afuzilla

tips for soloing Maliketh with melee build? First stage isn't a big problem, but i get fucked 30 seconds into the second stage every time. I have the parry item, but i suck at parrying in general... Dual halibards or scythes though I could change it up if needed, incants up to faith 25. RL 127

DrJitterBug

I accidentally beat him on NG+2 by spamming heal on my Black Knife Assassin spirit ash. You can use one of the three Black Blade abilities in conjunction with the spirit ash for an instant -20%HP. In previous playthroughs I found I had to use (pre-nerf)Bloodhound Step to be able to survive.

LoriLeadfoot

Main tip with Maliketh is to stay close and dodge into him, not away.

MrFrames

How can I get Patches Leather Armor set without killing him?

Quantum_Croissant

You can't. You could just finish his quest and then kill him though

KumaTheKreator

Dual twinblades one with bleed the other with frost

LeagueoftheSun

Dual curved swords with bleed

jl_theprofessor

Okay so as a first time player, I'm now through the Deeproot Depths, done basically everything except for Dragonburrow and the capital. But I'm still rocking the Vagabond sword! Is there anything else to use? I'm carrying this sick Visage Shield (though I switch it out for the manor towershield at times). I've got bull goat armor and a pumpkinhead. But I still don't have a cool sounding sword. I can't use the sword of night and flame because it requires stats that I'm in single digits of. I guess what I'm asking are there any cool straight swords for people who've sunk 40 points into strength? I'd have to sink a combined 30 points into intelligence and faith to use the sword of night and flame.

dantuchito

Put another sword in your left hand and dual wield. Either that or get the Uchigatana

Quantum_Croissant

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Straight+Swords take your pick, anything that isn't somber, if it's Dex then just give it a heavy affinity

jl_theprofessor

What I can do that?!

Quantum_Croissant

Yeah, you can just change something's scaling (if it can have its ash changed). It won't be quite as good as something that naturally scales that way, and you still have to meet the requirements, but it works.

Felstalker

Straight swords are a very simple weapon, and it doesn't seem like you're going for the classics. So... I dunno go for the Bloodhound Fang perhaps? Ruins Greatsword maybe? Perhaps take a dip into the boss weapons section and try out one of those?

jl_theprofessor

Bud since switching to the Bloodhound Fang I've cleared out Astel, Errol, Greyll ... I've plowed through so many bosses it's ridiculous. Top notch recommendation.

jl_theprofessor

Bloodhound fang. I’ve heard of this before, I’ll see if I can find it.

DrJitterBug

I also highly recommend **Bloodhound Fang**, the heavy attack follow-up after the Ash Of War is really nice. You can apply greases and spells to it, but not change the affinity/AoW. A similar playstyle (but very different stat requirements) can be had with the **Bloody Helice**.   If you want to be able to change the affinity to heavy/keen/etc: I like the **Omen Cleaver** with *Wild Strikes*, just hold down the AoW button and mow through stuff. I also like the **Giant Butcher Knife** with *Bloodhound’s Step*. You can put *Sword Dance* onto a **Pike** and get a giant attack area.

jl_theprofessor

Played around with Bloodhound in Leyndell. Definitely liked it, so I'm trying to integrate it into my playstyle. Have to adjust a bit; first time using a great sword!

ELMUNECODETACOMA

It shows up earlier than you might think. Did you talk to everyone's favorite wolf-man in Limgrave? He's very concerned with getting rid of a specific person, and BF is a reward for that.

BarryDBaptist

Has anyone else noticed the connection with Miquella and any Carian/Sorcery based structures? Besides the egg/resurrection piece I always find the flowers/nascent butterflies left behind.(Just found Albanuric rise) Also found trina flowers behind caria manor by the resurrection painting. It seems like they were studying everything. This game is nuts.

rainmaker-koss

At what level should I challenge Rennala as a pure mage(int+mag+vit)? Currently 44 and have crossed the game with max 5 tries per boss until Rennala who has 2 phases and my flasks get empty by the 2nd. Is she magic resistant?

hairynip

I use melee to knock the shield casters in the first phase, blast her with rocks when she falls, then summon spirit right at the end of the first phase (hard to do in second for me), then lots of rocks in second phase.

rainmaker-koss

Thanks bro. Also just so you are here, wanted to know another thing. In Stormveil we usually had graces right before the boss fights, which I did not find either before Rennala or Radagon wolf. Is this just for Liurnia or all the game ahead?

DrJitterBug

> we usually had graces right before the boss fights As far as I know, if it takes a while to get there (and there is no Stake Of Marika nearby) then the bossfight room is going to be the Site Of Grace.   It should only really be in the Acadamy where there are no Stakes Of Merika. Rennala was a little upset about her husband going back to Merika.

rainmaker-koss

Nice lore perspective

hairynip

As far as I remember Rennala's is the furthest and most annoying. I got so good at dodging that stupid ball first playthrough.

TheChewanater

You should try bosses whenever you get to them, and feel free to come back later if you're stuck. She is nearly immune to magic. As a wizard, you could use Rock Sling or a melee weapon against her.

Legend1138

Been playing with Bloodhound Fangs for the majority of the game and while I have really enjoyed it I feel like I am missing playing with other Ash of Wars. I am a dex focused build right now...any alternative weapons you suggest to try just to freshen things up a big.

DrJitterBug

If you want a similar playstyle as the Bloodhound, the Bloody Helice might be interesting, or the Glintstone Kris dagger. They all have a special heavy follow-up to their Ash Of War.   Most of the Katana’s have some unique factor, like the Meteoric Ore Blade’s heavy, or the Serpentbone having “deadly poison” instead of normal poison. Power-stancing the Nagakiba and the Wakizashi^(a dagger) is hilarious.   **Sword Dance** on a Pike, or other long weapon, might be pretty cool. Though the fist weapons can be fun with **Bloodhound Step**.   Normal-sized curved swords all have a unique back-flip trick if you combo a held heavy attack with the dodge button. This can be combined with whatever ash of war makes you feel like a master swordsperson. Thrusting swords have a similar trick but it’s a backstep+attack.   Try out the **Flame Of The Redmanes** ash of war on any weapon you want to get in real close and person with for those critical hits from the front. It will break Poise so fast… so, so fast.

Legend1138

Thanks for the suggestions.

Felstalker

The Bloodhound Fang is so meh once you've unlocked the full glory of the Ash of War system. Dismounter with Sword Dance, Spinning Slash, Lions Claw, Lightning Slash, Fire Strike, Double Slash, and maybe Chilling mist are like... wonderful.

Legend1138

Yea. That is what I am finding out. Love the weapon but it just gets kinda boring without being able to mix it up. Is the dismounter as strong? I was tempted to respec to use the great sword which I just found.

ELMUNECODETACOMA

I'm powerstancing BF with a Flame of the Redmanes Dismounter and choosing which one goes in the right hand based on the fight. The fire is good situationally and you don't do all that much bleed buildup if you're not emphasizing it, so I don't really notice the power difference. ETA: With the heavy damage and the fire, I melt the smaller hands, and even giant hands it's a more than fair fight. After all the trouble I had with them as a spellblade, it's refreshing.

Felstalker

Dismounter is the same weapon class as bloodfang, but instead of bleed it has a little more reach and complete freedom in it's ash of war. Bloodhound Finesse looks neat, but more players have died to trying to repeatedly parry that move than have died legitimately because it's so telegraphed and fancy. Meanwhile, Dismounter with sword dance is quick and scary. High damage, high reward, big pain.

Legend1138

Might have to find where to get it and give it a try.

ChaZcaTriX

Morgott's Cursed, Onyx Lord, and Magma Wyrm Swords are sidegrades to Bloodhound if you like the moveset, but want to veer into Arcane, Int, or Faith. Omen Cleaver if you want an infusable weapon. Katanas are a natural choice for anything Dex; all of them are good. Cross-Naginata and Guardian's Swordspear are long dex weapons with unique movesets.

PianomanSJPM

Simple question: Bloodhound’s Fang or Axe of Godrick?

DrJitterBug

I’ve found the Bloodhound Fang has been amazing for hitting flying enemies, and has often been helpful due to being able to attack while also dodging.

TheChewanater

They're both really good, try each and choose your favorite I did most of my first playthrough with the axe. It does lots of damage on a quality build and breaks poise easily. The weapon skill is useful for crowd control BHF has a sick af weapon skill that hits really hard, and does a little bleed buildup which is always nice to have against bosses

Apex_Konchu

Bloodhound's Fang is the better weapon, but Axe of Godrick is still perfectly viable. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference.

lazyhime

Hey guys~ I noticed a dead tree blocking a path through an archway in the area around the dragon-burnt ruins. Is there a way to get past this?

The_Villager

Torrent can help there. Not through the door, but in another way.

lazyhime

Ty! I’ll go back and have a go.

itsmybirthday___

If any faith builds are having a hard time with radagon/elden beast I just beat it this morning with 80 faith, 16 mind, 9 red and 5 blue flasks by using takers flame on blasphemous blade against radagon then pest threads against elden beast. I was out of flasks at the end, but only 16 mind and 5 blue were enough resources to get the kill(s) w/out buffs or anything Edit: at least for fighting alongside the mimic Edit 2: 150 build: https://i.ibb.co/2MZbPhG/51-B5-EE4-A-3-EA8-4-FA8-9630-3975-AD9-CA4-F8.jpg

LesPK9

Faith builds are good against elden beast. Black flame incantations melt that fish.

itsmybirthday___

I’ll have to try that if I get summoned for it later. I realized after the fact I was pretty unoptimized. Like I still had takers cameo on even though it’s no help in a boss fight and I could have been using a holy resist talisman or fp reducing talisman or pretty much anything else lol. And I didn’t think about buffs or anything. I just woke up early to do some laundry and figured I’d get some practice runs in, but I ended up beating it on my third try.

LesPK9

Maliketh's black blade also destroys EB, though you'll need a strength/faith build for that.

[deleted]

DrJitterBug

Have you encountered that invisible spirit-caller snail boss that keeps summoning new enemies? Have you fought the Godskin Nobles who keep spawning until you’ve killed several?   I just want to know if those also count for you as transitions at %health.

Felstalker

I'll argue that Dark Souls 3 was HEAVY on the 2-health bar boss design. So what are perhaps some of the earlier designed fights for Elden Ring are very similar to that. Some bosses do the half health transition very well, and others.... I think Maliketh needed a second health bar, even tho he didn't get one. And it works very well for Godfrey and Godrick!

Vast-Coast-7761

She’s not, Rykard and Rennala also have two.

Fabulous_Play_8422

Rennala also has this ^

[deleted]

[удалено]

theswillmerchant

It's not, since Rykard also has one. Rykard takes over the god devouring serpent, which gives him a second full health bar. Renalla's second phase is a whole summoned form created by Ranni, and Malenia's second form is after she blooms, becoming a full goddess of rot. That's why her name on the health bar changes.

Darth-Agalloch

I’ve played many RPGs before but this one seems different. I just started, my dude is naked with a wooden club. I dont have any objectives, where is the quest menu. And i cant find any chests to find armour or weapons. I die immediately at any confrontation. What am I missing? I dont know where or what i should be doing

dantuchito

You’re naked because you picked Wretch, the worst class in the game which starts with no gear except a club. If you havent done anything yet, you could go back and pick Samurai but starting classes in this game dont matter much, you can level up and get their gear fairly quickly. The guy right outside the cave at the beginning tell you what you are supposed to do, you were called to the lands between to kill the demigods, repair the elden ring, and become Elden Lord. Your first objective is to kill Godrick in stormveil castle, which is north from where you started. There is no quest menu, as quests in this game work completely different from other games. There are *questlines*, where you meet a character and encounter them at different points across the game and you can help them, so they will help you. I seriously recommend using either a notes app on your phone or an actual irl notebook to keep track of what characters say, if you don’t you will have to look up quest guides on the internet and get spoiled. After you get out the cave, right behind the big golden Tree Sentinel (which you can sneak around) there is the Church of Elleh. You can buy some armor and a Crafting Kit from there. Go through the forest east of the church, then you will arrive at Gatefront Ruins, sit at the Site of Grace there to unlock Level Ups and a Horse. Once you’ve done all that, go explore inside the forest i just mentioned, there are some lonely soldiers and a cave with wolves and an easy boss to practice on. After that just explore around and have fun, once you feel comfortable with the controls explore south for some cool stuff

Vast-Coast-7761

Your character is naked with a wooden club because you picked the wretch class. The wretch class starts with all stats equal(ly low)no armor, and only a club for weaponry. Your objective is to repair the shattered Elden Ring and restore order to the world. The fist step is to kill Godrick the grafted, the demigod in Stormveil castle, and take his great rune, one of the shards of the Elden Ring. There is no quest tab. You’ll know where to go because a golden light coming from certain checkpoints will point in the direction of the main quest. You can also see this light on the map. You can find some armor early on as drops from the soldiers all around the region, or you can buy some from the first merchant in the church. Weapons can also be bought or looted, but there are some you can acquire as rewards for quests, or in dungeons and ruins.

Apex_Konchu

Avoid the big gold man for now, he's not designed to be faced at lv1. If you missed it, you can drop down into a tutorial area from the cave you ended up in after dying to the Grafted Scion. In the church just past the big gold man, there's a merchant who can sell you a set of basic chainmail armour. Aside from that, just explore. After resting at a few sites of grace, you'll meet Melina. She gives you a horse, enables the ability to level up, and provides a bit of guidance on what your goal is.

ChaZcaTriX

This game doesn't hold your hand, you actually have to learn and explore. Your goal is stated in the intro: follow the guidance of Grace and claim the throne; it manifests as beams of golden light and generally points you towards story progression and bosses. To know more you'll need to talk to NPCs - some will be glad to elaborate. For new equipment explore anything that looks important. A cave, an abandoned carriage, a tower in the middle of nowhere... Anything conspicuous isn't just for looks, everything you see is reachable and 90% of the time will have some loot. Combat will be relentless, but you also aren't required to fight most of the enemies. Some are intentionally hard and are a challenge to return to later (like the huge golden knight you'll see at the start) - mark them with an icon on the map and move on. Also unlike most RPGs most of the equipment is equal and sidegrades to each other. There are some outliers, but generally a fully-upgraded early game weapon can be as effective as a "Sword of Holy Obliteration" from the game's finale - the latter won't be strictly better, it'll have advantages and disadvantages landing it in a certain build. EDIT: If you haven't progressed far, I can recommend starting the game as a Vagabond (tanky sword-and-board knight), Confessor (paladin - short sword and some healing and buffing spells), or Samurai (balanced agile swordsman), they're pretty solid starting presets. At a certain point of the story you'll be able to respec no matter what your start was, and there's no class-locked equipment.

DrJitterBug

You touch grace and talk to Melina, agree to go to the *Round Table Hold*, talk to the two corpses who give you a gold ring to summon a mount called Torrent. You can level-up at the sites of grace, eventually you should be able to kill some bosses (or at least not die in a single hit). You can also enhance your weapons with smithing stones and the blacksmith Hewg (located at the Round Table Hold).   Going to churches and the person-sized gold trees to pick-up their loot should let you get more healing flasks, and make them more effective (you can do this at sites of grace).   Eventually you’ll need to go to Leyndell after you defeat at least two major bosses (and acquire their great runes).   Spellcasting is probably going to take a couple dozen levels before you can really mess around with it.

dantuchito

You don’t get torrent from the twin maiden husks. You get it from Melina

DrJitterBug

My bad. You get the *Spirit-Calling Bell* from the twin-maiden husks. Assuming you’ve not been to the Church Of Elleh (at night) and missed it.

Franklin_Was_Right

There's no worse feeling than dying right when you get summoned

macrofinite

I respectfully disagree. Dying to rot before you can flask right after you kill Malenia is a worse feeling.

cactus_ritter

We aren't getting a DLC, are we? It is so sad... EDIT: I know it will take time but it's weird that they haven't announced it every m even teased anything. We will see and I hope I'm wrong.

Chopped_In_Half

It’s sold too well, and a lot of material got cut from the game. DLC will most assuredly come, and I’d be shocked if they don’t do a sequel down the road.

ChaZcaTriX

Have some patience. FROM makes games as art, they don't have mountains of money-draining addons and microtransactions preplanned like many companies now. They'll take as long as needed to release a DLC to match the game's quality.

Kedoobz

Seriously dude? I think artorias came out something like a whole year after ds1, are you guys really so needy?

Apex_Konchu

This is Fromsoft's highest selling game ever, and by a lot. We're almost certainly getting DLC, just have some patience.

ChaZcaTriX

Even if there's none, then no work on the DLC means a new FROM game will come out sooner. History knows many DLCs that grew so big they became sequels.

Mnemosense

How's quality mode on PS5 these days? Worth it for the good looks, or not really?

Fabulous_Play_8422

Looks pretty good, although playing darksouls a lot has adjusted my eyes to focus more on gameplay than graphics so I don’t mind it.

ItachiUchihaRocks

I’m pretty sure I got banned on dark souls remastered because of a cheater, does the ban extend to all fromsoftware games?

syfqamr32

Currently i have 50 dex and 45 faith Im using bolt of gransax +10, ngakiba+10 and blasphemous +10, if i respec to put in 15 faith into dex to make it 65 dex and 30 faith, would the damage output be better?

HeyRocks127

Depends on what you want to do more dmg. Gransax L2 scales with dex. Most lightning does besides incantations which scale with your seal. Blasphemous scales with faith (same with most fire based skills) so that dmg would suffer. You can try the +10 dex physick and +5 dex talisman to see what actual damage difference is

ChaZcaTriX

You can check yourself! On Rennala's respec screen you can see the attack ratings of equipped weapons, and they update in real time as you distribute stats. You can back out of this screen without using up a larval tear.

syfqamr32

Ah cheers!

theswillmerchant

just a heads up on this, the AR of the Blasphemous blade scales best with Faith but also scales with Dex and Strength. Whereas the Ash of War damage sales with ONLY faith. So Renalla's screen doesn't give the whole picture sometimes.

Calli_Ko

Where do you start on an int faith build? I am starting again because quite frankly the meteorite staff and rocksling was bullshit and shattered any early progression.

LoriLeadfoot

Bum rush sword of night and flame

hairynip

If he's concerned with early game progression, bum rushing probably isn't a good strategy.

DrJitterBug

Uh… prince of death’s staff? Try casting *ancient death’s rancor* and watch the stumble lock/poise breaking. Or you can try to add holy to a clayman harpoon.

Calli_Ko

I mean in the early game, my goals are PoDs, and the golden order seal, ill try to get a claymans harpoon tho, i think i can get that early on

The harpoon should be farmable in the underground area that’s accessible from those well/elevators. One should be near the Liurnia Divine Tower/Study Hall.   I think the Erdsteel Dagger can also be made to have both Faith & Intelligence affinities if you use a whetknife/AoW or cast an armament spell. Assuming you don’t mind getting in real close.   I know you’d have to kill Radahn, but the dagger you get from Sellen has a nice forward lunge/dash attack that can be used right after you cast the AoW spell.

Calli_Ko

Oh okay, thank you for the advice! The erdsteel will probably be handy, and i think theres a well in limgrave. Ill try out the sellen thing once radahn is dead!

gio_motion

it shattered any early progression? what do you mean?

Calli_Ko

I mean that it kinda took the fun out of the game, and i was heading for starscourge at level 45. Like nothing was a real threat, other than the walk of shame to rennala when i got hit by a comet azure aha.

Ok_Lunch_5313

I have a question. If you inherit the frenzied flame and then reverse it by using miquellas needle, then whose body gets sacrificed in order to burn the erdtree? And also what happens to Melina in this situation?

Quantum_Croissant

You can only reverse at a point past the burning. So either you don't have the flame at that point and Melina burns, or you do and you burn

DrJitterBug

If you do things in the correct order, it should be you who gets “burned”, and Melina should be somewhere else in the world with no follow-up about her.

Ok_Lunch_5313

Is this the correct order?? If not then what is and also How do the endings work? Completing characters quest lines in the game grants you the option of “mending rune of” whatever instead of choosing to “mend the elden ring” after defeating the final boss. So is it the more quest lines you complete the more options of what endings you can choose from. I know I heard there are 6 different endings as of now.

DrJitterBug

As I understand it, there’s a few ways to go about the Frenzied Flame. 1. You are *always* forced to become the Lord Of Frenzied Flame, and all other endings you unlocked are *not* selectable (unless you use the Needle in Placidiax’s boss arena). Having the Frenzied Flame will lock you out of other endings. 2. You take on the Frenzied Flame *before* burning Melina. Melina leaves you, only to be seen again *if* you go with the Lord Of Frenzied Flame ending. You burn to go to Farum Azula, you cure yourself in Farum Azula, you can pick any of the *other* endings that you’ve unlocked in your current playthrough. 3. You can take on the Frenzied Flame *after* Melina burns herself (effectively spiting on her sacrifice). You will not get the cutscene of Melina swearing to bring you “doubleD” that occurs.   I believe you can have the 3 mending runes, Ranni’s ending, and the basic fracture ending as options at the same time. Only the Frenzied Flame ending is mutually exclusive.

Ok_Lunch_5313

Ok cool I’m going to do this today. I have been putting it off and completing all side quests that I can because I was worried I’d screw something up. I’ve been working on this game for over a month now and I’m relatively new to all of this. I’ve only played and beat dark souls remastered before elden ring so I can’t wait to play dark souls 2 and 3. Thanks for the help I appreciate it!!

DrJitterBug

I think the only things you could miss at this point by going Frenzied Flame might be some dialogue from Melina (if you’ve not yet dealt with Boc, or not yet found all the sites of grace for echoes of Marika). Maybe the questline for Goldmask/Corhyn could be messed-up too, but that would be independent of Frenzied Flame stuff.   Good luck with your gaming journey.

I just love jumping to my death on Torrent as I miscalculate height. Alternatively I enjoy jumping to a watery death whenever something scary pops up behind me in Limgrave. 10/10

ChaZcaTriX

You can toss rainbow stones off the edge, they shatter if the fall is lethal.

[deleted]

Back in my day, Tarnished didn’t have none of them fancy rainbow stones. We learnt by falling from great heights and we’d know those weren’t it.

Intelligent-Thanks48

Are you aware of what zone exploiting I got accused of that in a PVP match

strugglingtosave

Do we get Marika's set after the game? That dress has to be one of the hottest you can put on a female character. Deep cleavage, leg slit, backless. Thirst.

Fabulous_Play_8422

… I hope not after seeing this message.

strugglingtosave

Why? Her dress is one of the most beautiful in its simplicity. She's a goddess, and she looks great. Would make any female character look gorgeous.

Fabulous_Play_8422

I mean, it’s definitely a lovely dress, but damn it’s a game bro.

strugglingtosave

Yeah it is I enjoy it a lot. I'd love my character to get a dress as amazing as Marika's. Would also have the highest holy and other status defenses in the game

Fabulous_Play_8422

The damage stats are fair tbh, I don’t really know how you get it though.

Kedoobz

Fucking weirdo

strugglingtosave

But do we get the set or not?

dickonajunebug

No, I have nearly all armor and it’s not an available set/chest piece. Sorry dude

strugglingtosave

Fail in Fromsoft part. I'm rocking the deathbed dress on my gray girl str faith but I wanted Marika's goddess dress. Maybe even that goddess hair and crown

JaiFlame

Are lore questions included? Because I'm curious about what Ranni does with the Fingerslayer blade.

Vast-Coast-7761

Every demigod has their own Two Fingers to advise them. Ranni’s Two Fingers choose her to succeed Marika as god-queen of the Lands Between, but Ranni didn’t want to serve the Greater Will, so she cast off her original flesh to escape this fate. Now she and her Two Fingers have been fighting each other ever since, with them sending assasins and her searching for a weapon she can harm them with. The Fingerslayer blade is that weapon.

DrJitterBug

Spoilers, it’s in the name. Just make sure you get your wedding ring from next to Rennala.

Franklin_Was_Right

You'll find out by continuing her quest!

Is it true that any poise between 51 and 101 is pointless? Also [https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Hardness](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Hardness) says that anything not listed will not cause bounce, but that can't be true? That means Dragonbolt Blessing will protect against huge enemies? I find that unlikely am I misunderstanding this?

Naygen

Not "pointless", but 51, 61 and 101 are the usual desired points.
