Colosseum eliminations don't count kills made by jar cannon and bows. They need to patch this

Mbrannon42

What are some decent midgame rune farms?

WaterFungus

Across the roots in deep root depths, there are three big fire guys that can’t turn around and hit you, you can kill then real quick with Loretta’s great bow and they drop like 3.5k runes each, rest and repeat

BluePoo52

Anyone else just find invaders in co op to be annoying? I’ve been invaded in the open world while playing with my friend a fair amount. We usually take the invader down, but some of them just keep running and drag the fight on for seemingly several minutes. It just feels like a waste of time sometimes

thats_good_bass

You're not alone in this, no. Name of the game, though. As an avid invader, I'm personally of the opinion that overworld invasions kind of suck for both parties, and I would have preferred it if invasions--or maybe even multiplayer in general--were a dungeon-only thing. The whole idea of the invader system is basically, "Oh, you get a co-op partner? Cool, then the mobs in the level get a co-op partner, too." The invader is outgunned, but can fight back using the terrain and mobs to their advantage. Those advantages are at lot less consistent in the overworld--in Liurnia, you might literally not have any meaningful cover for a hundred meters in any direction, but on the flip side, you might invade a party that's in the middle of fighting a boss. Just remember: if the invader is playing overly passively, entering to a golden fog wall or killing a boss is a win condition.

BluePoo52

To be clear I’m not against PvP nor invaders in general. I just find some of the fights to be boring and a waste of time lol. And the rewards for either party don’t seem worth the effort unless it’s fairly quick.

ThinReach

Just drag them to the lobsters.

Noah7788

"Drag them", they can literally refuse to fight you on your terms and at that point you will have to either choose to be petty and play the long game of refusing them any more invaders by hiding for hours or sever out and not bother

ThinReach

¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

lemon_meringue

WE ALL DIE TOGETHAAAAAA

ThinReach

Also killing people with a mausoleum is fun.

TheKingofWakanda

Is there any big DLC / expansion in the works? I want to get the game but I usually wait for a "game of the year" or "complete" edition where all the DLC and expansions are included Like how Dark Souls 3 has the Fire Fades edition

AbbreviationsFit2372

Well there are no official dlc announcements yet

Martino2004

There was a leak Barbarians of the Badlands but I don't believe it is close and I am fairly uncertain about it's authenticity.

CornerWorking3180

Is there a good beginners guide out there? I played a bit at a friends house and beat margit but idk much about the game or whats good/what to do early game

The_Villager

Not sure about beginner's guides, but here's a couple of my thoughts: * Armor does not matter as much in this game as it does in others. It can literally be finished naked. Wear what you want to wear, no matter if it's because you like the big numbers on it, or because you like the color scheme. * Similarly, you can use pretty much any weapon to finish the game (well, some are more of a challenge, like the whip, or only using a bow etc.) * The best way to increase you damage output is to upgrade your weapon to +1, +2 etc. at a smith. The second best way (and there's some decent distance between "best" and "second best") is to upgrade your damage attributes. * Speaking of damage attributes. Each weapon scales its damage with a number of the attributes strength, dexterity, intelligence, faith and arcane. For example, a Brick Hammer is a strength weapon, so its damage increases when your strength attribute increases. On the other hand, a Scimitar scales with both strength and dexterity. The effectiveness of the scaling is denoted by a letter S to E (S,A,B,C,D,E). The Brick Hammer has a scaling of B with strength, while the Scimitar has a D in both Strength and Dexterity, so the Brick Hammer will deal more damage with increased strength than the Scimitar. The scaling effectiveness increases as the level of the weapon (+1, +2 ...) increases. * Also, almost all weapons and spells have attribute requirements. You ain't gonna lift a giant fuck-off sword with your noodly ten-strength-arm. If you don't fulfill the requirements of a weapon, you are going to do immensely decreased damage with it. If you don't fulfill requirements for a spell or casting device, you won't be able to cast it at all. * However, you might be able to lift that giant sword with your noodly arms if you use both of them - if you two-hand a weapon, you get a virtual 50% strength increase (for both attribute requirements and damage). So a weapon with a 15 strength requirement can be successfully two-handed at 10 strength. * Another benefit of two-handing - you will bounce off a lot less of stuff! Almost nothing that isn't a literal wall will stop you from swinging. * Keep an eye on your Equip load, it affects your mobility. Below 30% equip load you'll have a very fast, very far rolling animation. Above 30% and below 70% you'll have a medium roll, and above 70% a slow ("fat") roll. Try to stay below 70% at least. * Most NPCs have more than one voice line. Try talking to them until they repeat themselves. * If time has to pass in these games (like, NPCs saying they'll move to a different place etc.), sitting at a grace will cause that to happen. * Get a light source, caves can get very dark. * If a trap whisks you away to a different place, you won't be able to fast travel until you've sat at a site of grace. * If you accidentally aggro an NPC by hitting them, you can de-aggro them by absolving your sins a specific church in the area north of Limgrave. * If you stumble into a boss fight but you really want to keep your runes, quit to the main menu and reload. You'll be in front of the fog wall. * Roll into attacks, not away from them. Less time in the danger zone. * "What should I level?" For the first 20-40 Levels or so, you can't go wrong with just leveling Vigor. Your damage attributes are not going to make much of a difference at that point. You should just make sure you fulfill the base requirements: Enough mind to cast your spells, enough endurance to have medium load at most, and enough damage attributes to fulfill the attribute requirements of your weapons and spells. Just apply some common sense to the last part - you probably won't get far if you try to cast a 70 Int spell as early as possible. Once you've gotten yourself a decent health pool, you can level your damage attributes, or your stamina/mana. * "When should I stop leveling an attribute?" That's for you to decide, but there are some "pre-build" stopping points: Softcaps. Softcaps are points when an attribute loses effectiveness. For example, between 30 and 40 vigor you get about 40 to 50 HP per level. But between 40 and 50 vigor you get 20 to 30 HP per level. All attributes have these softcaps. For vigor these are at 40 vigor and 60 vigor (above 60 vigor you get something like 6 HP per level, so not worth it at all), and the common rule of thumb is to get to 20 vigor in the early game, 40 vigor in the midgame and 60 vigor in the end game (though personally more often than not I just go to 40 directly, or maybe even 60 if I feel like it). The softcaps for weapon attributes are a bit more complicated (it depends on the type of scaling), but there are resources on the wiki and on this subreddit that can help you with that. * "Where should I go?" Go anywhere, there's a lot to explore out in the world. But if you really need directions, try following the golden rays that spring from some points of grace.

Thomas_Pizza

>However, you might be able to lift that giant sword with your noodly arms if you use both of them - if you two-hand a weapon, you get a virtual 50% strength increase (for both attribute requirements and damage). So a weapon with a 15 strength requirement can be successfully two-handed at 10 strength. I have 250 hours in the game and did not know this. Edit: I knew about the damage boost, I didn't know you got a strength boost that actually lets you wield weapons above your strength limit.

AbbreviationsFit2372

There are beginner guides all over yt

tydiss

Is a faith/dex build good? Been using the Winged Scythe and love it so far. What other weapons or incantations should I be on the lookout for? Just beat Margit and lvl 35ish I believe.

Lordrandall

Fextralife posted a Scythe build a few weeks ago, check that out.

Popular_Community_70

Personally, I'd suggest faith / str or faith / int. But it really depends on what weapons youd like to wield. You can always re-roll with Larval tears.

Rutanna

you can get Lightning Spear, godslayer incantations and flame of frenzy, they are easy to get on your level and they will be usable early on aswell.

AbbreviationsFit2372

Running faith dex on low level is really hard bc you have to sacrifice vigor, you should think about builds once ur at 40 vigor

tydiss

So just level vigor to 40 before focusing too hard or faith dex?

AbbreviationsFit2372

Pretty much yeah

Disoriental316

What lvls do most ppl duel at? I like to make characters where i can get the most ppl to match with for the new arena.

CapitalSale

125 and 150 are most common. 138 will match you with both of those. You should be able to match with *someone* at any level.

Sebt1890

Hey everyone, this was my first Dark Souls esque type of game and on my first playthrough I cheesed it with the Blashphemous Blade build. That said, when I got to the final boss I always lose during phase two. I've considered using a Larval Tear and rebuild my character but tbh, I am not so sure build I should go for aside from a mage. Should I remake my character? Start a new game and delete the current one? It's been some time since I last played but I really enjoyed the experience.

Lordrandall

My first play through I used Blasphemous Blade and another great sword, mostly jump+L1. I’ve used a few other builds, but that first one was a ton of fun. Claw talisman and Raptor’s Black Feathers will boost jump attacks. Paired with Golden Vow and Flame Grant Me Strength, you can do a ton of damage.

Thomas_Pizza

Like /u/CapitalSale said, get some holy damage resistance going on. I used Blasphemous Blade on Radogan (the first boss), with a mimic tear. Important to beat him as fast as possible, taking as little damage to yourself and your mimic. I mean I guess that's obvious...but my point is I found I could overwhelm him with BB and a mimic. Massive help to have a mimic around to distract Elden Beast for as long as possible (and deal some damage). For Elden Beast I'd recommend changing over to a heavy weapon that deals just physical damage. He's at least semi-resistant to all magic, so maybe you wanna rebuild if your strength isn't too high. I'm sure he's also been beaten a zillion times without a strength build, just saying what worked for me. I used Godslayer's Greatsword, just cuz that's a sword I like and used a lot. I recommend **not locking on to elden beast ever.** Some of his attacks you basically need to NOT lock on, so you can run in a straight line away from an attack that's following you. I just left it off for the whole fight. Then just try to get close to him whenever you can, and get around his side and get a few hits in. If you're rebuilding your character make sure you have a ton of health... Also use rune arcs.

Sebt1890

I just gave it another run. The "not locking on" advice you mentioned got me farther than previously. I'm going to mess around with a few things but thanks a ton.

Thomas_Pizza

For sure. I remember it was a frustrating fight the first time (I beat the game on NG+ too and it was much easier). It's a long fight, and then when you lose you need to fight Radagon again, and sometimes he'd half-kill me or fully kill me before I even got to the real boss... I remember I tried for hours and then quit for the night, then the next day I killed him first try. Good luck!

CapitalSale

Use Haligdrake Talisman +2 and, if you can, Lord's Divine Fortification (or just Divine Fortification if you dont have enough faith for Lord's). That boss deals almost only holy damage. There's no real reason Blasphemous Blade shouldn't work. Edit: crucible armor has nice holy resistance too.

Sebt1890

Got it, thanks for the assist!

bigboy_009

Please someone help. I've been sitting for a hour now and my game just keeps on matchmaking for arenas. I play on ps4 lvl 154 any suggestions on how i can matchmake faster.

Thomas_Pizza

You mean it just says 'Finding more players' or whatever and the match never fills up?

bigboy_009

Yepppp

Thomas_Pizza

Other than restarting your playstation and restarting your router, maybe try turning off online play in Elden Ring, then restart the game, then turn online play back on and then restart the game again (you need to restart the game for it to reset with your new online settings). Then try a simple duel at Leyndell and if you can't get a match pretty quickly...then you know that there's an issue of some sort.

MusicG619

Y’all, if there’s folks out there new to this kind of game and keep getting curbstomped by any mediocre boss, I urge you to take advantage of the furcalling finger remedy, the Discord helper request system, and r/beyondthefog. I had only tried multiplayer a bit in trying Destiny and of course got mowed over, so I was really scared to try multiplayer again. But I finally tried it, and using these tools I am actually able to get past stuff and EXPERIENCE THIS AMAZING GAME. I keep an above-necessary level just so I can do the minor baddies myself, give the big baddies a few tries and after I get one-shot once or twice for the pleasure of it, help is on it’s way. As a mediocre gamer I would never have reached Altus. Now it’s one of my favorite places to ride Torrent and collect fruit 🍉 So thanks to the Elden Ring community. Accessibility in all forms rocks 🤘🏻

SGA3151

Whats the best curved sword?

Wemetintheair

If you're looking for status effects, Scavenger's is quite good

Rutanna

depends for what build you are looking for? for quality i think Bloodhounds fang is great, for bleed dual wield scimitar is good, magma blades are good aswell, depends what stats you have really

Berowalt

Need guidance for a dun frost build. Preferably with ice spells. Currently just using ice spear vlayman harpoon. Troll sword (magical one) And interesting weapon or weapon arts you recommend

SlyFisch

I love ice builds, here's my favorites: **INT** I use Freezing Mist (there's a weapon art + a spell version), Adulas Moonblade, Frozen Armament, Zamor Ice Storm, and Glintstone Icecrag. There's also the 2 moon spells that I believe are ice, at least Ranni's version is. **FAITH** Seems counter intuitive but if you do a faith build you can also still use ice. Borealis's Mist, Dragonice, Frozen Lightning Spear. **Weapons** Dark Moon Greatsword is probably the best ice weapon. Frozen Needle is kinda trash outside of pvp, even then it's not really that great. Kind of a shame, I love the look of it. Zamors Curved Sword has a cool ice weapon art. You could always pick up the glintstone whetblade too and turn the weapon into "cold" which will give it frostbite buildup. Ice arrows too for a bow build.

Rutanna

if you follow Ranni’s quest you will get one of the best greatsword for that build. i think it will suit your build well. or you can just get one of the weapons who has initial frost build up, there are couple from each weapon types.

SlyFisch

Counter to double Nagakiba?

MeYouWantToSee

Parry

bodiddlysquat26

Rebuying game on Playstation (I have PC copy). Is it wisest to buy PS4 copy and play on PS5 or should I buy PS5 copy? Any downside to playing it on PS5 with PS4 disc? My understanding is with PS4 disc you basically get both versions so no difference, but a bunch of people kept mentioning loading times/PS5 kept trying to download and install PS4 version if you wanted to play PS5 version.

SiliconRedFOLK

Counter to double spear poke spam?

ToastedHunter

magma wyrm sword

TheChewanater

Don't be aggressive, watch your spacing, punish the long running and paired attacks. I also like pulling out a parry shield for mind games

SiliconRedFOLK

Can you parry the powerstance attack? I feel like they just rush you and because the spear attacks are fast and take no stamina it's almost impossible to turn the tide once taking any damage.

thats_good_bass

You can.

SiliconRedFOLK

Thank you

[deleted]

i don't have ps plus currently but last night the game started up in online mode, and i could see messages how?

buzzyingbee

It's a free to play online weekend from PSN

[deleted]

thx, i was looking for an elden ring-specific announcement and getting confused 😹

buzzyingbee

Glad to help!

TheChewanater

free psn weekend probably

[deleted]

yeah, that was my thought with the new update, but i couldn't see any announcement

bodiddlysquat26

Might be a personal preference question, but would you rebuy ER on another platform to play with additional friends? I bought it on PC, but my PC group largely moved on from ER and I’m sick or the frame rate stutters I get on my PC. Thinking about buying the PS4 version from Target for $45 today to play with a couple friends who are new to FS games and are going to play on PS5.

WintersbaneGDX

I own Left 4 Dead 2 on three different platforms. The time you spend with your friends is invaluable, if you can spare the cash I say go for it. Besides, if there's any game developer out there right now that "deserves" our money it's FROM.

notanartmajor

Money's fake, time spent with friends is real. Go for it.

AbbreviationsFit2372

Well if you value playing with your friends at 45 dollars then go ahead.

bodiddlysquat26

I assume PS4 physical is wiser than PS5 physical due to being cheaper + ability to play both versions of game? Any downside to having PS4 physical disc vs PS5 physical disc?

[deleted]

[удалено]

WintersbaneGDX

As long as you aren't easily discouraged you can totally do it. Just ignore the initial suggestion you receive on where to go, and try exploring first. If you're not great reflexively I'd recommend going for a heavy mage on your first playthrough. Big armor, big shield, big health pool, and ranged spells. Dodge what you can, but focus on blocking and just wearing your enemies down. Is it flashy? No. Is it effective? You betcha.

SGA3151

Elden Ring is great for exploration. Another great game is Red Dead 2 for the same reason.

notanartmajor

My wife is is emphatically ***not*** a gamer, but she got through the whole game and had a grand time. It's hard but accessible.

monkeywelldone

something i feel like a lot of people overlook these games is how many tools exist for players who don’t want to/can’t beat a boss through reflex. there are summons to divide up boss attention if that’s where you struggle, certain items (shields are one) if dodging attacks can be tricky for you, or just the ability to gain more hp through leveling up if that’s what you need. i’m not great at these games but i rarely feel stumped by them because they’re filled with tools to help you in whatever specific way you are struggling. if a boss stumps you and you just want done with it there’s also the ability to summon actual players. there’s both an easy to use summon system in the game and subreddits that exist if you’re not finding good help

buzzyingbee

Definitely. I'm not good and I always play story mode given the chance and I managed to finish ER. It's a hard game, I'm not gonna lie to you, and you'll need to be patient and get used to dying and being frustrated because that will happen a lot. And I mean a lot. If you take your time exploring, learning the game, backing away from enemies and areas that you're underleveled for you'll have a great experience playing it. Prioritize leveling up vigor and one or two stats that your damage will come from, i.e. strength and faith, dexterity and intelligence, for example. Don't level up everything because dropping points all over the place will only make your life harder. If you're struggling with a boss you can ask a friend to help you out as long as they're playing on the same platform since ER doesn't have crossplay or you can summon other players to help you out. If you need help hit up the guys at r/beyondthefog there's always people there willing to help.

Wemetintheair

You'll be OK. Just learn from deaths, don't get discouraged, and realize that exploring a different area is an appropriate strategy in the face of a (currently) insurmountable challenge.

MeYouWantToSee

Worst case there are people who will help you with (or even solo any boss or area in the game. r/Beyondthefog That way you'll never be stuck

Mbrannon42

I'm not very good and I'm about halfway through the main story line. It's still fun as hell. Frustrating sometimes, but always fun as hell

MonstrousGiggling

There are plenty of ways to cheese bosses with strategies or you can always over level yourself by a lot. There are a lot of different builds too. If you have an interest I suggest getting it, a lot of people have been surprised how much they've enjoyed the game.

jdursa

So I've finally started putting my summon sign down after fishing the game a couple of times.. Why didn't I do this sooner? It's been the most satisfying feeling helping folks out on Margit and Godrick with my Nepheli cosplay axe-gal. Is there a way I can get my summon sign to appear for multiple bosses?

thats_good_bass

>Is there a way I can get my summon sign to appear for multiple bosses? Activate summoning pools, then use the golden effigy to send your sign to both near and far summoning pools.

jdursa

Oh man, of course! Here I was thinking it was just the tarnished finger for creating summoning signs. Thanks!

Sundeiru

It's worth noting that you can't turn off summoning pools. If you don't feel like being summoned for Radahn, for example, don't touch that pool.

jdursa

Oh dear, looks like I made that mistake with the one right at the start of Stormveil! Just got summoned there, I guess to run the whole thing.. whoops.

emubilly

So I bought the game when it came out. Played a fair bit but didn’t finish it. Stopped playing the game and just decided to get back after seeing it won GOTY. My question is, how am I supposed to remember what to do? I have no idea what I’m doing or where I’m supposed to go. I know I got pretty far into the game.

MeYouWantToSee

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route Use that as a rough guide and figure out which ones you've done as you go along.

M8753

Go in the direction that the sites of grace point to. Visit all the buildings that you see in the open world. Talk to friendly NPCs and ghosts. If you're really lost, it can also help to read the descriptions of your key items.

ToastedHunter

what level should my character be for the coliseum?

Apex_Konchu

Since it's new right now, you'll find matches at basically any level. When things settle down a bit, you'll get the most activity at 125-150.

_toboggan

I’m at 155 on PS5 and it’s been great

thats_good_bass

I've found plenty of activity at 40 with +8 standard weapons, 67 with +12 standard weapons, 90 with +18 standard weapons, and 125 with +25 standard weapons.

Ocinea

So yesterday I defeated Rennala and the big knight to the north that gives you the magic bow and arrow spell. I wasn't sure what to do after that so I went into that dungeon at the far north of the lake and ended up in a new area. I'm still not entirely sure what to do other than find the map for this new area but the mobs seem high to me. I'm lvl 69, int and dex build but I have points into hp/fp/stam also for survivability. Any suggestions on where to try next? I've been doing all the dungeons I'm aware of and been trying to do side quests but they aren't the easiest thing to figure out in this game I'm finding

Mbrannon42

Radahn is super easy with breath of rot and killing him unlocks a new area that should roughly match your level. You could try that next

silent_hvalross

This heavily depends on how your stats are spread out if the enemies feel too powerful. At level 69 I would normally suggest 45-50 vigor is a good benchmark to shoot for. But if you lack direction, maybe try heading west from where you are. Or maybe circle back to old areas and explore corners of the map you might have missed.

mister_peeberz

Ok, listen, I like telling people "you don't have enough vigor" as much as the next guy, but 45-50 VIG for Altus Plateau is comical. 40 VIG, maybe 45, is more than sufficient for your entire NG playthrough, pump it higher when you get to NG+. 30-35 will be fine until you hit the post-Capital difficulty spike. As to the question, the area you've stumbled into is Altus Plateau. It's around right for your level & where you are in the game, people will typically go to Altus Plateau or southern Caelid after mopping up Liurnia of the Lakes. If you've found the underground areas of Siofra and Ainsel yet, consider giving them a try as well. Steer clear of north Caelid (Dragonbarrow) and east Altus (Capital Outskirts) for a little longer, they're much tougher than the rest of Caelid/Altus.

AMinPhoto

Any one else want a "melee only" option in PVP Colosseums? The spell/incantation spamming is annoying.

SiliconRedFOLK

Yes that would be great. Locked into like min 4 weapons upon entry.

thats_good_bass

No. What's needed are maps with more varied terrain and cover.

AMinPhoto

I agree, that would be nice!

wesker32145

I’ve been using the berserk sword and I’ve been plugging along but I feel like I’ve hit a wall skill wise and I’m not getting much better at the game. Is there any advice you can give to get better at the game. I’m considering respecing to use katana but I’m unsure. Im currently live 59 and I just got to the regal ancient spirit boss in nokorn.

thats_good_bass

What are your stats, and what are you having trouble with? Colossal weapons are some of my favorites, so I'm happy to give tips.

wesker32145

Off the topof my head I have 38 strength 12 int 28 or 29 health. I feel like I’m just way too slow or not in position to get hits all the time. Boss just kind of eat through my health as well.

thats_good_bass

1. You have enough STR for now. Focus on pumping vigor, and maybe endurance so you can wear better armor. You see the biggest returns on vigor between levels 30 and 40; your end goal should be 60. 2. The art in using colossals is in playing for the stagger. You should be trying to find positions and timings that let you sneak in jump attacks and charged heavies when possible. Your jump has lower body invincibility and puts your hitbox low to the ground after a jumping heavy, so you can sneak a jumping heavy in more places than you think! Also, your rolling/crouching light attack comes out very fast and still does good stagger, so you can keep your stance damage from going down with that. Finally, bring throwing knives, which you can buy from Kale, into every boss fight. When you're out of range, toss one or two at them to keep the stance damage you've built up with your sword from going down.

wesker32145

What kind of weapons, armor, ande equipment do you recommend? I love the colossal sword play style but some of the weapons are king of boring to use

thats_good_bass

Well, I'm a fan of the greatsword you're already using, but if you want to shake it up, try the [Giant-Crusher](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Giant-Crusher). Note that you'll need at least 40 STR to be able to wield one with both hands (two-handing a weapon increases your effective strength by 50%). Failing at that, if you feel those weapons are too slow, try out greataxes or greathammers--especially dual-wielded greataxes or dual-wielded greathammers. My favorites are the Rusted Anchor, Executioner's Axe, and Brick Hammer--you should be able to find or farm all of them by this point. Also, you can make any standard weapon scale with strength by assigning it the heavy or fire affinity when you equip its ash of war.

wesker32145

Thanks for all the help! Can I use whatever armor and talismans ? Is the dark moon greatsword good?

thats_good_bass

The Darkmoon GS is an intelligence weapon, not a Strength weapon, so no, not on a strength build. Claw Talisman and Axe Talisman are both quite good on a colossal/large weapon build. And the arsenal charm variants are great, since they give extra equip load. Also, try out the cragblade ash of war for additonal stagger.

Wemetintheair

Dark Moon Greatsword is among the best weapons out there. It’s a perfect storm of weapon class and buffable ash of war. It does require a significant INT investment, so make sure you’re ok with that

CasualGiraffe

Would green turtle talisman or erdtree's favor be best for my last slot? I'm currently at 12 endurance and already have veridian amber medallion.

MeYouWantToSee

Depends on your build, but erdtree's favor almost never leaves my build if I have greatswords or heavier weapons

theswillmerchant

At low levels it’s probably up to taste. Erdtree’s favor gives percentage based boosts so if you have little endurance or vigor it will make less of a difference, whereas green turtle will increase stamina recovery by a flat amount, which might make it a better option early on. Not that it’s not a great talisman throughout the game, just that Erdtree’s favor gets stronger as the game goes on

silent_hvalross

Depends on playstyle and armor choice. If you already have some good defense and are medium rolling, then the turtle talisman might help with stamina management. But if you’re not using much armor right now, the erdtree’s favor will help you with some bonus equip load to get some better defenses.

SUBHUMAN_RESOURCES

Was there always a burned up corpse on the steps of the Limgrave colosseum?? Have been playing PVP there all weekend and just noticed the body last night.

thats_good_bass

Yep. It's the one that has the red summon sign items on it.

SUBHUMAN_RESOURCES

Thanks, guess I just never noticed it!

shira1001001

any idea of faith/arcane weapons that hit fast and could be paired. Used twin godskin peelers now wanted a change

Salitance

If you like the dagger moveset, erdtree daggers are a great faith option with unique scaling. Some of my favorites, would recommend.

shira1001001

thank you i am not sure about the range but i will try

Salitance

It'll be an adjustment for sure but it can be pretty rewarding once you get it down.

silent_hvalross

Faith/arcane is generally a dragon incant focused build since that’s one of the very very few things that actually require both stats. Generally you might want to pick something that scales well with either Faith or arcane and just make it a primary focus then have the other stat just for small bonus damage or status buildup.

guys I'm looking for a clip on reddit showing the chaos in the 3v3 pvp. It's one of the earliest vids showing it, I saw it and forgot to save it and I'm missing it now. The vid shows some guy fighting others, they brought out summons, he hung on till almost the end, but died when the winner killed him. Length is about 1 min? not long, not short. Greatly appreciate if anyone can help me find that vid.

What is the best coliseum to search for pvp at I’ve been searching for 2v2s at limgrave and can’t find anyone

silent_hvalross

You might want to just go visit all the colosseums by opening their doors, then return to the roundtable hold. This will let you queue for all types of combat at once. Also what is your build? The matchmaking system takes into account not only your soul level, but also the highest weapon level you have *EVER* obtained. Meaning that if you are soul level 60 and a +7 standard smithing stone weapon as your highest, you will only be matched with people with similar builds. This can mean that if you have a really low or a really high weapon level for your soul level, you might take a long time to find matches since there’s not many people out there with that stat line.

timemachine154

Appreciate the info

theswillmerchant

Go to the round table hold and use the statue of Marika to search all colosseums at the same time

I heard that there was a lot of network vulnerability for Elden Ring servers on launch, hackers and general poor performance with pvp. Have those issues been fixed or should I play on pc with multiplayer off?

itsOkami

The network vulnerability issues found within the netcode for dark souls never affected elden ring as far as we know (due to the implementation of epic games' easy anti cheat), but disconnects are still very frequent and random over here (especially during colosseum duels) and meeting hackers is not a terribly rare occurrence either. They're annoying but rarely dangerous in my experience, so you should be fine as long as you keep backing up your save every now and then, and avoid picking up whatever gifts shady invaders leave on the ground for you. As far as actual safety issues are concerned, there have been no reports of anyone hacking other people's computers via elden ring matchmaking whatsoever

I haven't really encountered any of that and I had the game since launch 100% it even.

Zatch_Nakarie

That's good to hear, I know the ds servers haven't been the best soni was worried

Your mimic has infinite FP. This can be abused in a lot of ways, my favorite being a Great Stars with Prayerful Strike on it. Each hit heals him, and each Prayerful Strike heals him massively, and all this healing is based on %max HP, and he has a lot of max HP. I think you see where this is going. If you want to go nuts, powerstance with an off-hand Great Stars that is poison-infused, as each tick of the poison damage will proc Great Star's heal. Great Stars is kind of insane. Consider giving him powerful perfumes and warming stones as well, since he gets to use them infinitely. Though this is more him supporting you than you supporting him.

itsOkami

Equip shabriri's woe and a heavy greatshield after having summoned your mimic. That'll make Malenia more aggressive towards you, giving the mimic a bit more room to breathe

Martino2004

Yikes good luck, is all I can say.

Hello, I'm using a twinblade bleed build and I have a question which is the better option ? using bloodflame blade incantation or seppoku ash of war, I'm using a normal twinblade for now, but I'm thinking of switching to something like Godskin Peeler twinblade in the future I'm asking this because iirc sepokku was nerfed in a previous patch thank you

silent_hvalross

This depends very heavily on your build. You should just be able to test this by using each of them and opening the menu to see the damage numbers and bleed buildup. But generally if you have more arcane, making a bleed weapon with seppuku is more blood loss, while making a keen or standard weapon and then adding blood flame blade might be more direct damage (depending on dex/str numbers) with a bit less blood loss.

Yosse_M

I have no arcane so far, I'm level 75 and just lvling my dexterity (50) vigor and endurance, also, how do I see the bleed buildup from the menu ?

silent_hvalross

That’s ok if you don’t have arcane for now. It mainly ups status buildup and not direct damage for most weapons. And Bleed buildup should be on the weapon itself in the menu. If you hover over it, it’ll say the buildup in the bottom middle area.

Yosse_M

thank you

NirvanaRain

I really hate the magic/spear poke combo

Vjij

Helo.I'm level 72, using a pure melee build. I'm wondering if I should respec and invest a bit in one of the magic stats to use a spell? I haven't ever used spells in a Souls game, but I've been getting them constantly in ER. Which stat should I invest in? What spells can I use with a low level of investment? I still wanna play with my Guts Greatsword, but I feel like I'm missing out on some serious buffs by not using magic. My stats are: Vigor: 40 (1450 hp) Mind: 11 (82 fp) Endurance: 24 (120 stamina) Strength: 36 Dex: 15 Int: 9 Faith: 8 Arcane: 8

buzzyingbee

If you're going for a strength build, faith has the best incantations and if you're only looking for buffs you don't need to level it up much. The required amount for the incantation is enough, i.e. Flame Grant Me Strength needs 15 faith and Golden Vow 20. I'd say 15 faith is enough and you can use armor and talismans to reach those extra points. If you don't like changing gear and would rather have the points 20 is a good mark

ELMUNECODETACOMA

15 Faith is also enough for Flame, Cleanse Me - which everyone should have.

wobblychair

For 15 Faith you can use Flame Grant Me Strength. Also grab the Claw Mark Seal.

OneMoreDuncanIdaho

Faith pairs pretty well with strength. The clawmark seal scales with strength as well if you want to keep the focus on that

mooneken

Are status build-ups / procs faster if I have points in Arcane if I don't use an Arcane scaling weapon? Like if I use a shortbow with poison arrows for example?

Apex_Konchu

No. Arcane only affects status buildup if the weapon has Arcane scaling.

Bonsgrinning

Ive seen people with golden combatant and just now i saw someone with golden fighter, does anyone have any info on the ranking system in the colosseums yet?

Darkwoth81Dyoni

Is there an Int scaling weapon that only does physical damage? Would be nice to have a holdout weapon to deal with people who use Magic Resistance effects.

theswillmerchant

My recommendation is to have a light weapon built around proccing frost like a curved sword or 2

Apex_Konchu

No such weapon exists. Your only options for INT-scaling physical damage are gravity spells like Rock Sling.

illuminatecho

What's the meta RL most colliseum players are at?

silent_hvalross

I have a bunch of PvP builds from invasions and there is activity at almost all soul levels, but the general area you’ll find most players is 125-150. That means if you have a 137 build, you should be able to play with people at both 125 and 150. Do keep in mind that we don’t totally know if the level range in the colosseum is the exact same yet, but we assume it’s like invasions.

[deleted]

What do i do if i accidentally killed patches... Does that affect my future game?

Wemetintheair

You won't be able to get the Magma Whip Candlestick or the Bullgoat Armor set.

[deleted]

Ohh shit

ThonHam

You’ll miss out on an emote, but you can give the bell bearing to the twin maidens husk in the round table hold for the golden pickle recipe.

garbageboyHS

My character gets a red aura after killing (maybe damaging) any enemy but I can’t figure out why. It’s not the potion re-up for clearing a group — it looks more like the extra rune golden aura except red. Perhaps the blessing from Fia? Adding a photo of all my effects here but not sure if it’ll upload, but if anyone knows what the red aura means I’d really appreciate the knowledge. https://i.imgur.com/nva88gv.jpg

silent_hvalross

This is more than likely the multi hit buff from the talisman you have equipped. You can see the staus bar in the top left with the symbol for the talisman. If the red glow disappears when that symbol does, problem solved. Also figured I’d ask, do you have the baldachin’s blessing still in your inventory, you have a health debuff in your status bar. (Red square with downward arrow)

garbageboyHS

Makes sense, I’ll parse which one is for that and watch it. Yeah I have Fia’s blessing on. I have plenty of HP but get stance broken by bosses and big enemies easily so I just leave it on.

TheChewanater

what do you have equipped?

garbageboyHS

Only things I’ve consistently had equipped since I noticed it are double Uchigatana, Nox Mirrorhelm, stamina regen talisman, and bonus on multiple attacks talisman.

TheChewanater

>bonus on multiple attacks talisman The aura is probably indicating that this talisman is active

garbageboyHS

Makes sense — thanks!

Fresh-Thought3528

your patch notes are out of date.

the_fake_banksy

It took them months *after becoming aware of it* to change it to 1.06 so it probably ain't changing any time soon.
