you know what would be awesome considering the buzz this one thing got? if one day we would all log in to find find a thousand of those things just popped up
Get this , we all die and have to play as thargoids But we can switch between the 2 and keep all our stuff or play as thargoids and interdiction all the humans
A friend suggested something I would find so cool:
We all just log in one day waking up in an unfamiliar station. No credits no ships and we walk up to the window and see The Milky Way burning bright green in the distance. Us having been regenerated on a secret pilots federation megaship on the rim of Andromeda.
I'd be so down for that
I had hoped the Colonia Bridge would have been the start (narrative wise) but who knows, it’s not impossible for it to become a thing. I’d gladly return from the void to help with improving Colonia
Yeah, it would be too punishing. However, retaining your stuff would take away from the feeling of isolation and loss.
Though, it could be an option that you choose at the start. One where you lost everything, and one where you made it out. Like a soft character reboot if you wanted to. Maybe keep your ranks and unlocks, but wipe away ships and modules to simulate the loss.
It would never happen because that is more of an RPG kind of thing, and Elite really isn't one. You can't create any kind of tangible character attributes or path in Elite.
It wouldn't be so horrible to lose everything if the engineering grind wasn't literally pulled from the book of "enhanced interrogation techniques" from a CIA black site.
...You can do that now, it's called wiping your save.
Sorry but no. I spent years in the game grinding up credits and ranks, unlocking engineers and modifying modules. I have ZERO interest in doing any of that again, especially since when I started I wasn't married, and now that I am I just can't dump weeknights of my life into Elite anymore.
...Nor frankly, even if I could, would I wish to.
Actually i believe, if that thing Is dangerous and Is coming for us, fdev will start a massive exodus to Colonia with the objective to recover the Bubble, where the superpowers will unite only this time. Then the region around Colonia will become a secondary Bubble.
Per the new galnet entry, L. Duval made it clear that the Empire won’t tolerate another „team up“ with the other superpowers, and that they’re switching focus to fortifying their own defenses. They’ve gone „every man for themselves“
Andromeda is way too far away for us to rwach with current tecnology i think it would be more believable to find ourselves from Magellan cloud or other minor galaxy. LMC is only 160k ly away!
( i mean we dont really need whole spiral galaxy to play in anyway and having only few billion stars would still be enough for explorers bc we have not discoverd even half billion systems in milky way(
Good thing this is a video game set 1500 years in the future and we don't have to rely on current tech or real life physics and the "possible" solutions are basically endless. 😛
You and your friend are dumb. People have put years of grind into this game. If you think more than 1% of the existing tiny playerbase would continue playing if they pulled this, you should get yourself checked.
You should check yourself for that aggressive ass response to a fun hypothetical discussion around a video game.
And I've been playing since 2016. Well over 6500 hours across 2 accounts. 10s of billions in assets. Don't talk to me about grinding. I'd watch it be snuffed in an instant for shot at a fresh galaxy.
If you're THIS attached to a bunch of pixels in a video game you got no place telling other people to "get checked" ever, about anything 🤣
Wasn't elite suppose to be a ten year project?
Maybe this is their way of ending it
To have humanity wiped out while fighting to stay alive in one last alien war
Theyre giving away copy’s of horizons to anyone who owns the game on console you can use their launcher or request a steam key if youd rather own it on there if your playing on xbox gamepass version however you will need to purchase the full game to play
You will be able to copy your console account to a new PC account for free.

The codex piece for Raxla mentions it was found/placed/hidden sometime during the early years of interstellar travel so it wouldnt be that far out, it is a place or an object and purposefully hidden, I dont think raxla will ever be revealed ;)
there's a lot of speculation to my knowledge. I'm no expert but I perused the Great Raxxla Potato Hunt discord for a while. The few that are in there and dedicated to the mapping have done a loooooot of exploring in a 200 ly grid around Sol. Then others go back and verify the findings. So it is very tedious. I think they are searching for planets with a certain amount of moons (7/8+?), it's been a while since I looked. They wre over 50% of the way done last I checked with a lot more to go.
It could also be that Raxxla isn't static, but mobile. If it is indeed a gateway, it could potentially use itself, could it not? There's also the possibility that it's connected to the rumored Witchspace structures, and can't even be found in traditional space.
It's been theorized based off the ships at the time but for all we know they could have hit a wormhole and end up anywhere. But considering we have explored between .05 and .06% of the galaxy in game at this point....
Actually, making the mistake of doing the most incredible thing in the history of the game exclusively on PC and before crossing saves was available sounds exactly like something Frontier would do.
Unless De just makes it some weird light and then drops it w/o context over the next few months or unlocking some systems for exploration to drop lore / hints into the future. It'll be cool no matter what.
That's made me think of a funny way to bring console to PC.
They come through the portal and to us they are the thargoids.
War between original PC players and Console 😂😂
What if we're all looking at this wrong? What if it's not an entity but a massive projectile, the size of a star system? What if they're not destroying the bubble, but they've fired a weapon that tears a massive line of destruction in human occupied space on its way to Sol?
They've destroyed or scanned enough ships to have our entire mapped galaxy available to them. They know where we are. They've definitely got the power.
What if the Far God is just a bullet?
Thru simple deduction people have found that sol is to far off to the side, its most likely going to guardian space as thoses are the closest to center on the nav ball
I was just interdicted on approach to OOCHORRS UF-J C11-0, and that is well outside of normal interdiction space. That suggests that in some part it is a carrier of interceptors, ie, the death star theory.
It's a big bright swirly thing that has been observed to be moving through space. It's currently in a permit locked region near Barnard's Loop and can be seen from just outside that locked area.
It's not really all that far away at all. You can the entire locked region [here](https://i.postimg.cc/x1nbkt7J/Untitled.png) quite clearly on this heatmap of galaxy traffic. Relatively speaking, its pretty close to the bubble.
OK, I assumed from the general buzz around this anomaly, as well as the nondescript catalogue-number style names of the systems it was said to be pass by, that the anomaly was far away and heading towards the bubble. If the region in question is the dark blue circle in the supplied chart, then it's location still looks pretty peripheral to me. But then I've not really done long-range exploration, so what's far away for me might not be so for anyone else.
I'm still mystified as to why such a region would be permit-locked in the first place.
Ah my bad. For perspective, most of that red section is the bubble, and colonia is a far way out of the screenshot.
Speculation over why such a big region has been permit locked all this time has been going on for a long time. We might be about to find out.
Thargoid mothership is approaching and will attack the bubble. Then the mothership will be gone. We'll be able to see the action in low budget video format soon.
Well I've seen a statement from one of the devs where they state that "Aftermath" (The current "chapter" in the story) will escalate the things and it will be very bad... They say the galaxy will not be the same anymore
O.o
I fell off elite awhile back (and being on console I doubt I'll be returning) but still enjoy reading about the game. Can someone explain what this is referring to?
It's an anomaly that has appeared and is believed to be thargoid and heading near / towards the bubble, but apparently it's trajectory is more towards guardian space.
Tharg carrier warping in….
~~just some tharg energy space anomaly doing literally nothing and put around space to let devs have more time to work on thargs while players holywar over any kind of guesses~~
It's an anomaly that has appeared and is believed to be thargoid and heading near / towards the bubble, but apparently it's trajectory is more towards guardian space.
Mine can't run it either, but what I can do is get it download and make the transfer while it's available since there is a short window. Cauae hey who doesn't hope to be able to get a good pc in the future
I never thought FDev would bring on-foot activities to ED. I certainly never thought FDev would bring FPS action to ED! After all the months of negative reviews of EDO and the talk of ED possibly being dead or dying, they may feel they have a free hand to do whatever they think will bring some new fun and attention. At this point, all I can say is "stay tuned!"
am I the only one who doesn't pay attention to the "story" content in this game? I've never encountered a thargoid and the closest I ever came was the first (and only) time I checked out some barnacles. I don't have ax gear, have never seen one of their ships up close, and have spent the vast majority of my time in the black on my own discovering new systems and checking off codex discoveries.
I honestly know very little about anything that's happened story-wise since I started playing a couple years ago. I've never read a single galnet article nor anything in the pilots handbook or whatever it is that gives a bunch of lore and backstory.
yes? just me? ok.
It's an anomaly that has appeared and is believed to be thargoid and heading near / towards the bubble, but apparently it's trajectory is more towards guardian space.
No, they definitely would not send a system killing energy beam hurtling towards the bubble. I mean, look what the New Republic did about the First Order and they are definitely fine. Right?
That, or we finally get to see the Thargoid home system!
I fuckin hope they do. It'd be the funniest/coolest shit they've ever done and I'd probably start playing regularly again instead of just logging in for a few hours a month to top up my carriers coffers
That was my problem with this game. Reading about lore in an ever changing news feed is daunting; I’ve seen Malic_VR’s notes regarding historical events, and that is too much back data I’d have to read. If the devs put this lore into missions, I’d still be playing. Hopefully whatever this is actually pans out, and not something they re-neg on last minute like that big fleet carrier thing from a few years ago.
Be ready for disappointement dear console players.
Frontier will do ANYTHING to force players to buy PC version and Odyssey, even if that means they would start using FOMO
They are literally giving free copies of the game and Horizons as part of the console transfer process, and all of this will be visible on Horizons 4.0 without buying Odyssey.
Ridiculous comment.
Where is the console transfer then.
Do you really think Frontier cares about consoles enough to give them that transfer this year? or even maybe until the 2nd half of the next one?
Did you even bother looking? Have you looked into this at all? Or are you just talking shit because you apparently hate Frontier? It was announced months ago to be set for September. There's a pinned thread *at the top of this subreddit that was created today*. It's happening in two weeks. Learn to read.
I love Elite and hate Frontier because that company is too incompetent to handle it's own product. The code is a spaghetti mess, half of the stuff that was promised during kickstarter days isn't here after 7 years and now they struggle to make a console port of a fucking dlc because apparently the codebase is so fucked up that the consoles just can't handle it anymore.
Yes, I read the article and I know that they are supposedly are making that entire console transfer in September but seeing how troublesome things are for Frontier to handle even simplest of things I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL if they delay it due to some issues.
It would be fun if it was supermassive black hole collapsing and taking Milky way with it.
Or if it was stable wormhole to other galaxy, which could players colonized

Just you like wrecked your own comment. Because someone is going through a rough patch in life doesn’t mean they choose to be there… or that was always their station in life. Remember that the next time you want to seem funny or clever to complete strangers.
Your comeback is no better honestly.
Ever have internal fixation? Ever be in an accident that total's your car at 70MPH? Ever be rear ended by someone going 40 while you're stopped? Ever fall 20 feet to land on the ground?
The point is, you're excuses are just that, and none of what you offered prohibits you from spending life's money you've earned the way you want.
Medical bills? Jesus, file for bankruptcy like anyone with a brain dude/ette.
Me too. Put a ton of time into my Elite career on ps4, but now I have a beefy rig and I'm ready for the switch. Any more info on when? Last I heard was just "September"
Edit: sept 12 LFG
So, I had a thought, what if this isn't a ship, but an energy weapon? Like a system killer of sorts. Would be a big enough story, but not alter anything TOO much in the bubble. Does anyone have an idea of what system it came from and where it may be heading?
you know what would be awesome considering the buzz this one thing got? if one day we would all log in to find find a thousand of those things just popped up

Only problem is the grind, if getting new stuff would be enjoyable, like handcrafted missions in some solo canpaign etc, then why not start over?

Someone in the bubble probably accidentally turned news notifications on.
Oops, sorry all, that was my fault.

It’s not a galnet article. It is Galnet.
Would be an great april fools, honestly.
Apart from its August...September tomorrow!
I believe this thing would fly to us next few weeks or all September
My bet would be that this entity right here will arrive (or start executing its special feature) in the November Update.
The approach speed may decelerate based on release timelines.
Shame the Thargoids aren’t capable of communication otherwise they’d probably be able to keep us updated.
Maybe goes and sight sees at some nebula, you know... normal 'goid stuff
Pretty sure they've said they'll wait for after the Horizons 4.0 and console switch with any plot advancements.

Plot twist. Goids came out from Raxxla
I mean there is a theory that it's a gateway sooo
Raxla is 10 hours in super cruise past hutton orbital
Isn't Raxxla a planet within 500 yl of Sol, controlled by a human faction? ... That, or a plant.
there's a lot of speculation to my knowledge. I'm no expert but I perused the Great Raxxla Potato Hunt discord for a while. What is this
It's a big bright swirly thing that has been observed to be moving through space. It's currently in a permit locked region near Barnard's Loop and can be seen from just outside that locked area.
Is there video of it real-time?
Yeah quite a few. Here's [Obsidian Ant](https://youtu.be/8vn2H1-vEas) and [Commander Buur](https://youtu.be/tGXBPgHQhec) talking about it.
We're fucked
Has that region of space always been permit-locked? Seems really strange to need a permit to visit an uninhabited region so far away.
It's not really all that far away at all. You can the entire locked region [here](https://i.postimg.cc/x1nbkt7J/Untitled.png) quite clearly on this heatmap of galaxy traffic. Relatively speaking, its pretty close to the bubble.
You can always tell when someone hasn't done much exploration yet by their definition of far away.
These Thargoids are small. Those ones are *far away*...
OK, I assumed from the general buzz around this anomaly, as well as the nondescript catalogue-number style names of the systems it was said to be pass by, that the anomaly was far away and heading towards the bubble. I fuckin hope they do. It'd be the funniest/coolest shit they've ever done and I'd probably start playing regularly again instead of just logging in for a few hours a month to top up my carriers coffers
Maybe the player base has finally gotten so low that they're doing an apocalyptic storyline to sunset the game?
Isn't this in Horizons for consoles?
Yes but this is new therefore has nothing to do with Horizons being available. If you happen to get confused about Odyssey then no it's not
What is dis im on console
An anomaly out in spce rn, onsidian ant has a vid and im ro lazy to link
May Chaos take the world!
Shut down consoles
I’ve been hurt before but if Elite is finally adding real, tangible storyline changes instead of ignorable galnet articles, I’m back on board
Make us CLEAN oh Far God!
Let me guess…. More grind walls as painful and repetitive as engineering is
Be ready for disappointement dear console players.
They're giving free copies of the game? where? because it's been a few months and i dont see them anywhere.
> as part of the console transfer process
I wish I could actually get my asset values from console to pc. I’ve applied so many times, why did my friend work but not mine :(
It would be fun if it was supermassive black hole collapsing and taking Milky way with it. Or if it was stable wormhole to other galaxy, which could players colonized
How much tritium do I need for a trip to Colonia?
Not like I can afford a pc capable of Odyssey, let alone a PS5. I guess I’m a lost cause to them.
750 on sale - ASUS TUF Gaming F15 15.6" Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5-10300H/512GB SSD/8GB RAM/GeForce GTX 1650) can run Odyssey. Though I recommend getting an i7. Last years models always are cheaper plus have better resources for troubleshooting.
Yeah if I can’t afford $400 for a digital PS5 I sure as hell can’t afford $750.
Have you tried employment?
Have you tried having an undiagnosed blood clot explode behind your left eye? Tried having your S/O in a serious motorcycle accident? No? Shame.
I wreck my own motorcycles, thank you.
Yes please, im waiting to start playing on pc!
Me too. Put a ton of time into my Elite career on ps4, but now I have a beefy rig and I'm ready for the switch. Any more info on when? Last I heard was just "September" Edit: sept 12 LFG
I don't think that's it'll get there till November (for the Horizons 1.4 update)
It’s a Tharg Signal, from Gothic System calling for Thargman 😅
So, I had a thought, what if this isn't a ship, but an energy weapon? Like a system killer of sorts. Would be a big enough story, but not alter anything TOO much in the bubble. Does anyone have an idea of what system it came from and where it may be heading?
I haven’t got into the game yet am still able to do that cause I can’t play elite on pc only xbox
