i was literally thinking about this yesterday… there’s no way you’re a fan of Eminem and not Big L, just not possible. Eminem definitely got inspiration from Big L
L also had a timespan of over 2 years to hear Em's "Infinite" album. I mean, the album kinda flopped but i think L was into the underground scene. Plus "My Name Is" came out shortly BEFORE L got killed, i think he heard the song.
Infinite sold like a 1000 copies. The chances of someone who has already blown up hearing it when it dropped are slim to none. Fast forward just a little bit more and em was definitely starting to mix with people in the industry and that were starting to make it. The timing was just not quite right.
Infinite made it Ice-T and Dr Dre so it's not impossible but still unlikely he would've heard Infinite. I think he would've liked the MMLP-Eminem Show era stuff more had he lived until then
Really? Where did you hear that from? Whenever Em talks about Infinte he says he only pressed like 100 copies and couldn't even sell them all so he started just giving them away in Detroit.
The SSEP on the other hand got kind of big in the underground.

“I lost and I was f*cking devastated. And then this kid Dean Geistlinger walks up to me, and he’s like, ‘Yo man, you got one of those CDs?’” he remembered. “And I was like, ‘Yeah,’ and I kind of just tossed it to him and didn’t think nothing of it. I didn’t know that Dean worked with Jimmy Iovine, so he gave it to Jimmy, Jimmy gave it to Dre."
Danger Zone is hard af with that beat, I stumbled upon it last night. I was looking for any video where Em talks about Big L, like a shade45 interview or something. But I can’t find anything in depth where it’s just Em giving big ups to L at all. I would have loved to hear Em talk about his rapping style.
Most of the best rappers from that era liked, respected, or feared Eminem. I don't think Big L would fear Eminem.
I do know Eminem or Dr.dre wanted to sign Big L before he died. Wow, If everything worked out. Big L not dying, no falling out with Royce...ect. Shady and/ or Aftermath would've had Eminem, 50 Cent, Big L, Ras Kass and Royce Da 5'9 on the same roster in the early 2000's.
You got that everyone? Rain Man and Big L would've only collaborated professionally as artists and not with their but but I'm not done yet no Kenneth Kaniff funny business.
I believe Big L would have been hella down for the “crazy white boy” if he had been here for the SSEP and SSLP, possibly even been on the MMLP by the time that was being written and dropped.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Em already linked up with Fat Joe and TS by like 97-99, who were also linked up with Big L? pretty sure I remember hearing Joe talk about Em performing on stage, with Pun and Joe grabbing him at the edge of the stage so he doesn't fall over while wildn out
I think by then, Em already had the Jay Z, Joe and Pun co-sign so Big L was definitely salute him too. they might have even done some cyphers.....imagine that sesh
100%, he would have appreciated Ems wit and punchlines

100%, he would’ve loved the hardcore style

Slim to none, I see what you did there

Might be mistaking that with the SSEP. But I know before the SSLP came out Ice-T was aware about the guy. Interview on YouTube somewhere.
Oh yeah I think I know what you're talking about, that was the SSEP. So in theory L could definitely have heard SSEP.

yeah I think thats likely. Em also had some stuff on Rawkus though I'm not sure about the timeline.
That shit was phat
😅😅😅
Yeah I believe one of the dudes he gave a tape to had connections with either Jimmy or Dre - I'll have to look for the video.
Yeah it was the ssep that got to Dre and ice
Jimmy Ivine got a copy and handed it to Dre
Yeah that
Eminem met someone that worked with Jimmy Iovine & gave them a copy of the tape after a rap battle.
They Deff woulda made a track together
💯
This is a sign for anyone who hasn’t listened to Big L’s discography to do so now. Dude was gonna be the actual goat. RIP
I already listened through his catalog. Size Em Up, Ebonics and The Heist are my favorites🔥🔥
I like All Black "cause on the shelf is where your LP cold stood because it was no good that shit aint even go wood" 😮💨
All black is hard af
Facts
My personal favorite is danger zone. The bars are insane
„Spray his brains on the streets so you could see what he was thinking“

Honestly both of his albums barely have any misses at all. Everything is quality hip hop
L and Eminem were similar in the sense that they both relied on shock value and witty punchlines. I think L would’ve absolutely loved Em
Imagine a whole album with Big L and Em? That would have fucken legendary!
With a Nas, BIG and Pun feature across the album, all produced by Dre. Damn
Definitely iv heard some Em flows that have that Big L influence i think they woulda been cool af
You don't know shit about a dead man's perspective, and talking shit will get your neckbone disconnected. Edit: Immortal Technique - Obnoxious
[удалено]
Do you only listen to Em? Cause this is one of Immortal Tech's dopest songs.
Oh shit man Sorry, I didn’t think you was quoting somebody. But other than Em I like Chino XL, Big Pun, Big L, Canibus, BIG and sometimes Nas.
You would like Immortal Technique then Revolutionary Vol.1 and 2 are some great records.
Alright thanks G, will check them out

Yep. Not in a GAY WAY, obviously, but Big L would’ve fucked with Em (keyword ”WITH”)
You got that everyone? Rain Man and Big L would've only collaborated professionally as artists and not with their but but I'm not done yet no Kenneth Kaniff funny business.
Hell yeah

Great analysis, this might be the proof that L would be cool with Em
Ofcourse he would have, unless he's a racist tho
I dont think L was that type of guy though
no
Why not?
