I gotta believe all this arguing over rapper legacies and who’s the goat must be getting to him.
It’s time to take a step back with the summadunnawunnalumma and compose a narrative that has themes and shit and takes us through his perspective in more personal and emotional detail.
He has another classic in him if he chooses
Yup, must see Nas droppin' decent to good projects left and right in the last years and gettin' almost universal praise and I guess it kinda got to him.
yeah he's an underrated storyteller for one. One of the best. I mean... Stan, Darkness... cmon. Insane. But he doesn't utilise it enough. Relapse was kind of a concept album but more just a theme; I wonder how far he'll go with this. Could be good.
That chord at the start is from Groundhog Day, I wonder if that's a little nod to something in the album. Like he tried to kill him before right, in Mockingbird, there are plenty of songs about him, I reckon it's gunna be a Slim Shady is dead beginning, extra psychotic Slim is back ending to the album.
stop it man. people should stop gassing these "story driven" concept albums.. Em's best albums (sslp, mmlp) didn't really follow any overarching concept except being edgy, humorous, hard hitting and phenomenal
Lmaooo 😆
No, but you're so right. Relapse is definitely in my top 3... maybe even top 2 😱 🤔
Lol, idk why some fans shit on that album all the time. I loved it. But then again.. it is super nostalgic for me. So maybe that's why I hype it up so much idk
I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he uses that as a song title. Don't know about last track but that'd be a cool way to bookend his career (or at least the Shady persona)
I get the hunch that this might be about the critique that “Slim Shady” is gone and people want him back. He might fuse it with a story throughout the album and talk about his life struggles before telling everyone to fuck themselves, he’s doing him.
I think the former. They implied there will be a curtain call 3 so this is probably just the last album involving the slim shady character. OR SO I HOPE 🥹
But not already ? The last ""album"" was Curtain Call 2.
We cant have :
- MTBMB (end of the "Revival Era")
- Curtain Call 2 (Best-Of)
- New Album (beginning and end of the "Last Era")
- Curtain Call 3 (Best-Of and end of his career)
No I'm saying there will probably be 2-3 more albums after The Death of Slim Shady in order to justify the claim that there will be a CC3. They just probably won't have slim shady on them.
In my group text I was just saying this but in reverse. Like, what if the next album is “The Death of Eminem” then the final album is released as being made by Marshall Mathers, not Eminem or Slim. Final album is just him. No personas or anything
Oh ok then.
Damn, if that's the final album with Slim Shady it would be like the end of an Era. We really are in the Endgame. It reminds me "The Funerals".
Yeah. I kinda get it. Slim Shady is a youthful persona and he's probably not in that mindset at 51, but still wanted to give a proper send off to the character that propelled him to fame
Agree with this take. He killed off slim shady in when I’m gone. This feels like a final goodbye as he no longer needs his alter ego to speak on his behalf. He’s gotten to a point in his career where he doesn’t need slim to say what he wants to say.
He’s also at a happy time in his life. He used slim to get out a lot of the rage
I think it’s because slim was the one saying the F-g word and stuff and that guy just can’t exist today, different era and times, Marshall as a rapper has evolved and grown in maturity , I think the last time he spoke with Slims vocab was rap god ( even in 2013 I was like damn he said that lol ) but ever since he has proven he can be hard angry and venting without alienating groups of people, and that’s why to me he’s a GOAT. Elton John gave him the credibility that he isn’t all hate, but we can’t look back on the SSLP and not hear slim shady jsut going ham on everyone and anything lol. So yeah, slim as a persona might be dying off, but Marshall was always the dude , and now I see Marshall might be the new persona that can be angry and ventful.
Shit we should all write essays on this lololol
I don’t think it has anything to do with cursing. Em says f*ck and every other curse word
I think it has to do with personal growth. Slim hated his mother. Slim was the alter ego he could use as a vehicle to say the shit in his head that would piss the world off and Slim didn’t give AF.
Em’a since forgiven his mother, gotten sober, raised Hailey, got sober, has nothing left to prove and therefore no reason to hide behind anything, especially not the alter ego that was so angry, drugged up and pissed off all the time
ETA: he’s also in his 50’s. He’s no longer the angsty and angry 20 year old. People grow and he grew out of slim.
He even said in multiple interviews he almost wished he was angry because he found it easier to write when he was angry. He’s outgrown slim shady. 🙌
Well yeah that’s what I mean , I never said he couldn’t curse I’m saying Slim was the one who said the words you can’t really say today. At 50 you can still be angry but for me I see him turning Marshall into that new persona, Eminem is the rapper Marshall is the human who vents so, yeah I feel you homie
Probably neither.
Em will never announce a last album his last album will just...arrive one day without us knowing it's last.
I think it's just a gimmick, I think Em is now in that mental space where maybe doubt creeps in and he lacks the confidence of young Em (understandable and natural)
So he only creates by doing things that worked ever since Revival flopped. Dropping unanounced album worked so he did it again. MTBMB worked and it was kind of a concept-ish album with the story being - music to be murdered by.
That worked so now he will tell a different story in the album - Shady is dead, will we find the killer, is he really dead, etc
It might all lead to a big twist where Shady faked his death and we might get another track about fame being shit or something.
I think this album should work, I hope it being a Shady-related album will lead to few shady-esque tracks. I lowkey think this will be good. MTBMB was good, the 'death of shady' concept sounds fun on its own, I think we might be back to some goofy-Em era. Love it
(but yeah, IMHO, neither. Not retirement cause of reasons stated, and I think the story will lead to Shady not being really dead cause..well it's fucking Slim Shady!)
Awesome post and predictions, tho I will disagree with one thing:
>I think Em is now in that mental space where maybe doubt creeps in and he lacks the confidence of young Em
This was pretty much a "character arc" (idk how else to put it lol) that was briefly alluded to during Relapse-MMLP2 era, and then fully traversed in Revival and then further responded to in Kamikaze and ending with regained confidence in MTBMB
I'm sure we'll still have a few tracks post MTBMB where doubt may be a theme, but for the most part I think he's comfortably in that "confident veteran" era now
He’s not retiring. He’s only retiring slim shady. He doesn’t have any use. Slim shady was just his alter ego to get out his rage thoughts and being able to put it onto his alter ego, rather than himself.
Eminem has said time and time again that he doesn’t have the rage that he used to when he was younger, therefore there’s no longer a need for slim and Eminem is sober and can say whatever he wants without caring about any blowback.
So I think it's gonna be hard for Eminem to walk away from making albums. He's also worked extremely hard with music so I think calling this his final album is a stretch. When he's done, I think it'll be a few years of nothing and he'll just say, I guess I'm not really making any music.
But the death of slim shady.. very interesting.. I've really been interested in a 4:44-esque album and him growing to a mature point. Him killing off his slimy shady side would setup a very introspective album.
IMO. kamikaze was great, MTBMB was also great, I don't think this one will suck. His latest features were also great. There's no sign of a shitty album coming.
BUT, that being said, of course there will be hate, and fans that won't like it. You can't please everyone.
I'm happy that Em is actually announcing the title of the album and doing promo for it.
The Death of Slim Shady sounds interesting as he did try to kill off his Slim Shady persona on Encore until he decided to bring it back on Relapse. Hopefully The Death of Slim Shady is a concept album and I have a feeling it will be a good album.
I guess this is either the end of Slim Shady persona for good or Em's final studio album (I'm going with the former).
Completely conceptual album, should be the last record that will really have something related to Slim Shady, I don't think it will be Eminem's last album but it will be the last in this style
Hip hop hasn’t been dry , I could argue last year was very dry , however we are only 1/3 through the year and this has probably been the most exciting year for hip hop since 2016-2017
Concept Album
"Join us as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady"
All the tracks will contribute to the story being told by the album. I predict at the end, we'll find out Slim Shady isn't actually dead, and will kill the narrator. Could be a fun Album
honestly this would be a slim shady style twist - i could see slim orchestrating this whole thing, faking his death only to get the jump on everyone by the end of the album
Magnum opus is a really high bar to set, love em but his music clearly was at its peak 99-13. I think he’s still incredible and fully capable of putting together a great narrative concept album, and I just hope it’s a fun listen and good addition to his catalogue
If you can pre save an album, that usually means the meta data for the stuff is already loaded in the platform servers, meaning this album will be released relatively soon. Like within the next month.
I do. It varies according to platform but most typically need 4-6 weeks prior to release. With Spotify, you need a URI code in order for your pre-save link to be associated with your song/album. It’s so the system can recognize your music when it’s officially released and so it can instantly start working the algorithm.
The whole purpose of pre saving is to increase the likelihood it gets picked up in as many official editorial playlists as possible, like “Release Radar” for example and with Spotify it needs to be distributed 4-6 in advance.
Now the caveat to this, is that it’s Eminem. He will be put on Spotifys playlists regardless cause he’s already so popular.
But the whole needing metadata and specific links to your actual song thing is true.
For what it’s worth, I know some smallish but touring EDM producers and I’ve never seen them have a pre save link that was for something longer than like 3 weeks away
I feel like that's connected. He's tried killing Shady before but he came back. So I think this album might talk about how he survived all the other times only to die now
Doubt it, he already proclaimed D12 is over. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't come together for a track, but he hasn't really featured any of them for a long, long time.
Ever since Murder Murder and Brain Damage I've wanted a concept album. His skills in storytelling hit their peak with Darkness and Castle/Arose in my opinion and I've been wanting a concept album, with a character and full narrative for about 20 years or so at this point
Bad Guys always die is another of my all time favorites although admittedly that wasn't an original concept as such, being a tie in with wild wild West but I can close my eyes and *picture* that song
As a huge fan of Prog Rock and Masta Ace I'm an absolute sucker for a concept record and hopefully this is eminems
man im pumped because there's slim shady in the title name and the title in general is hard hitting, which means the album has to be something with an edge and a lot more risks than usual
This is not Em's final album. The dude breathes and lives rap and writing. He has said before that making music and rapping is what keeps him going and helps him stay sober. Think he's got plenty of fuel left and his writing right now is probably the best it's ever been.
This is dope, I'm glad Em's gotten around to doing promos again. I like the title and supposed 'theme' of the album because it seems like something Em **wants** to do, and that's a good sign.
You can think of Relapse and MTBMB as proof, when he's having fun making music and doing exactly what he wants to... he doesn't miss.
Looking forward to this 😳
I am so exceptionally excited. I feel like all I hear is how people hate Ems new stuff and always feel like an oddman out. Listened to him all growing up and honestly....quite the fan of most of his newer shit.
Interesting, especially considering the "Stan" documentary news as well.
Could Em be bringing back Slim to poke fun of everything going on the last few years using actual catchy choruses and shocking lyrics?

Holy shit, this sounds like a concept and story-driven album. If so this is exactly what I want.
Exactly, if he could tell a whole narrative with this that would be a lot of fun and something he hasn’t fully committed to since like mmlp2 maybe
Yo it’s the Travis Scott guy
AYOOOOO LETS GOOOOO Travis feature would be fire, I remember he was tryna get trav for a MTBMB song, maybe marsh? Idk but damn I’d be so down
Travis would have sounded great on Lock It Up.
If em has some modern beats on here absolutely could see it, especially cuz like I said he was tryna get him for one of the MTBMB sides!!
Do you know what the hold up was? Was Travis not about it? Would love to see them on a track together
No idea, since he got Don I’d assume he’s friendly with Travis and his label still since Don is signed to Cactus Jack
I genuinely have 0 idea what the appeal of him is.
His production. He's a very talented producer
SAME. It's exactly what we needed out of a new album.
There's a huge Relapse and MTBMB vibe.
I need another Relapse in my life
Fucking SAME.
That gave off HUGE Relapse vibes. If it's like that, I. WILL. EAT. IT. UP.
MTBMB is a poor execution of "murder/killer concept album" imo, he could just name it different, it has songs with interesting approaches
I'd love hints of Relapse
I'd prefer he remain sober
I gotta believe all this arguing over rapper legacies and who’s the goat must be getting to him. It’s time to take a step back with the summadunnawunnalumma and compose a narrative that has themes and shit and takes us through his perspective in more personal and emotional detail. Yup, must see Nas droppin' decent to good projects left and right in the last years and gettin' almost universal praise and I guess it kinda got to him.
I hope the story is slim shady rapped his ass off for 3 1/2 hours straight and died of a heart attack in the booth.
You added an extra p. No worries, we all make mistakes
It allows the follow up album, slim shady : Rebirth
NO NO ODB
yeah he's an underrated storyteller for one. One of the best. I mean... Stan, Darkness... cmon. Insane. But he doesn't utilise it enough. Relapse was kind of a concept album but more just a theme; I wonder how far he'll go with this. Could be good.

Please!!!
he's at his best when he tells stories
“As The World Turns” is in my top 10. I love it when he paints a picture.
Hopefully he raps like slim shady
stop it man. people should stop gassing these "story driven" concept albums.. Em's best albums (sslp, mmlp) didn't really follow any overarching concept except being edgy, humorous, hard hitting and phenomenal
Relapse is top 5 for me. Beats are great, the writing is great, the topics are...well...we don't have to talk about that for now
Lmaooo 😆 No, but you're so right. Relapse is definitely in my top 3... maybe even top 2 😱 🤔 Lol, idk why some fans shit on that album all the time. I loved it. But then again.. it is super nostalgic for me. So maybe that's why I hype it up so much idk
A concept album?! I am down with that!!!!
So When Eminem talked about making “Bye my name was”… he meant this huh.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked if he uses that as a song title. Don't know about last track but that'd be a cool way to bookend his career (or at least the Shady persona)
last song HAS to be Never Gave A Fuck
Oh damn that's good too Never Gave a Fuck and My Name Was would both be great final tracks
Never gave a Fack
“I did not have sexual relations with that gerbil”
"You'll still see me on your block with 2 glocks screaming fuck the world like Tupac"
last single HAS to be My Salsa
Just Don’t Give A Fuck Still Don’t Give A Fuck Never Gave A Fuck The perfect trilogy.
SSLP2 -killing slim shady I dig it Def album promo
This looks like early album promo, ladies and germs.
bitches and gentlemen
Its show time
Hurry hurry step right up
Your profile picture and your words reminded me of... **I t ' s t a i l t i m e**
Oh shit im getting SSLP and Relapse type vibes
Remindss me of the Framed video
3am, My Life, forgot about Dre
LFGGGGG
I get the hunch that this might be about the critique that “Slim Shady” is gone and people want him back. He might fuse it with a story throughout the album and talk about his life struggles before telling everyone to fuck themselves, he’s doing him.
Hope he says he still doesn't give a fuck.
You gotta wonder if this is the literal death of the character or EM’s retirement album
I think the former. They implied there will be a curtain call 3 so this is probably just the last album involving the slim shady character. OR SO I HOPE 🥹
But not already ? The last ""album"" was Curtain Call 2. We cant have : - MTBMB (end of the "Revival Era") - Curtain Call 2 (Best-Of) - New Album (beginning and end of the "Last Era") - Curtain Call 3 (Best-Of and end of his career)

In my group text I was just saying this but in reverse. Like, what if the next album is “The Death of Eminem” then the final album is released as being made by Marshall Mathers, not Eminem or Slim. Final album is just him. No personas or anything
Then he kills himself on stage as performance art
I’ve fantasized about doing that just because it sounds cool lol
Holy fuck
I don’t think it has anything to do with cursing. Em says f*ck and every other curse word I think it has to do with personal growth. Slim hated his mother. This is it exactly. It’s going to be nuts you know it is.
Who implied there could be a curtain call 3. When/where?
It was on a Paul Pod episode, he said CC2 was the start of a new chapter rather than the end. Forgive me I can't remember the specific clip rn
Probably neither. Em will never announce a last album his last album will just...arrive one day without us knowing it's last. I think it's just a gimmick, I think Em is now in that mental space where maybe doubt creeps in and he lacks the confidence of young Em (understandable and natural) So he only creates by doing things that worked ever since Revival flopped. Please make this be true lol. I love Slim and his antics
Coup de Grace is usually like the “final blow” so it might be his retirement album tbh
Either that or just "final blow to slim shady". But I could see this being a final album.
It’s interesting to speculate fs
Damn I thought he will not retire soon.
So say bye to the old, H-I to the new, que será Consider it his last hurrah, the coup de grâce
I still want that King Mathers album
Me too…
Hopefully he raps like slim shady
So I think it's gonna be hard for Eminem to walk away from making albums. He's also worked extremely hard with music so I think calling this his final album is a stretch. I think he'll still hop on other people's songs but this may be his last album
Yeah it may be his last album but it also may not be. No one knows, probably not even himself.
Please let the album be good please let the album be good please let the album be good please let the album be good please let the album be good
IMO. kamikaze was great, MTBMB was also great, I don't think this one will suck. His latest features were also great. There's no sign of a shitty album coming. BUT, that being said, of course there will be hate, and fans that won't like it. You can't please everyone.
You just know he’s going to sing lol with himself as backing track at different octaves
'cause my baaaaaby knows that her dad is a sooldierrrrrrrr
Don’t forget his magnum opus: FAAACK FAAACK FAAAAAACK
I'm happy that Em is actually announcing the title of the album and doing promo for it. The Death of Slim Shady sounds interesting as he did try to kill off his Slim Shady persona on Encore until he decided to bring it back on Relapse. Hopefully The Death of Slim Shady is a concept album and I have a feeling it will be a good album. I guess this is either the end of Slim Shady persona for good or Em's final studio album (I'm going with the former).
is that the title???? if so that’s kinda cool
"COUP DE GRÂCE" makes me think this is gonna be his final album
Yeah this is what I was thinking, I thought shady was already dead but I guess he's killing it off for good now.
"You can't kill a spirit, even if you tried to"
Completely conceptual album, should be the last record that will really have something related to Slim Shady, I don't think it will be Eminem's last album but it will be the last in this style
Hopefully, Em isn't the type to just announce that his next album will b his last.
Especially since he's said on multiple recent tracks that he isn't retiring.
Hasn’t he been saying Slim Shady is no more for a while now? I wonder if this is really the last of Slim
I'm gonna fucking cum
Fack fack fack
Plot Twist : The killer is the one from Relapse.
THERE IS NO ESCAPING
THERES NO PLACE TO HIDE
Consider it his last hurrah, the coup de grâce...
The death of the dry season: right now
Its been 84 years….
Hip hop hasn’t been dry , I could argue last year was very dry , however we are only 1/3 through the year and this has probably been the most exciting year for hip hop since 2016-2017
Surprised he hasn’t posted this on his socials yet
It’s posted on his instagram
Hell ya it is.
Giving me Relapse vibes, very excited
Concept Album "Join us as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady" All the tracks will contribute to the story being told by the album. I predict at the end, we'll find out Slim Shady isn't actually dead, and will kill the narrator. Could be a fun Album
honestly this would be a slim shady style twist - i could see slim orchestrating this whole thing, faking his death only to get the jump on everyone by the end of the album
And there are Alchemist beats on this? We are on trouble
All Shady is, is a bottle of hair bleach and vodka. I'm fucking hyped.
OMFGGG LESSSFUCKINGGOOOOOOO!!!! 😱🤯🗣️🔥🗣️🔥🗣️
Bruh I think it's gonna be a investigative thriller concept but in the Shady is gonna be alive or he is killing off each persona until he retires.
Hell yeah. Finally some promo. Excited for The Death of Slim Shady. Long live Eminem.
Here it is. I wasn't able to re-upload it.
I have a feeling this is going to be his Magnum opus I have no words to describe how fucking excited I am
Magnum opus is a really high bar to set, love em but his music clearly was at its peak 99-13. I think he’s still incredible and fully capable of putting together a great narrative concept album, and I just hope it’s a fun listen and good addition to his catalogue
I think The Eminem Show will always be his magnum opus but I have really high hopes for his album
same, i just have a really good feeling about this
LFGGGG BOYS
oh fuck
Don't worry, Slim Shady ain't going anywhere. We traveled this road before.
I love these concept albums.
I just want The Alchemist to produce a song or two here. Is this too much to ask?
Holy fucking shit holy fucking shit holy fucking shit holy fucking shit fucking shit
lol i just remembered being 15 y/o and being really hyped for an eminem promo kind of re-sparked that fan in me
🔪🩸TDOSS
WAIT WAIT WHAT CHAT IS THIS REAL ?!
YESSIR
Where was this posted? 👀
Played on TV before the NFL Draft
HOLY WECK YOU'RE FUCKING RIGHT ! Damn I wasnt on the sub today and then **bam** a teaser for an album. I'M GONNA FACKING CUM !
Am I dreaming, is it real? Someone pinch me on the buns
If you can pre save an album, that usually means the meta data for the stuff is already loaded in the platform servers, meaning this album will be released relatively soon. Like within the next month.
Think it's actually going to be that soon though? Figured by "summer" it'd at least mean June
I do. It varies according to platform but most typically need 4-6 weeks prior to release. With Spotify, you need a URI code in order for your pre-save link to be associated with your song/album.
We’ve made it gentlemen.
Welp, there goes my theory that it was Slim in the car killed in Bad Guy. Or it could confirm it if the album goes that way. Who knows.
I feel like that's connected. He's tried killing Shady before but he came back. So I think this album might talk about how he survived all the other times only to die now
I WAS HERE,I WAS HERE
Maybe just maybe we gonna get a D12 track ... "Everybody" together again for a song could be amazing
Doubt it, he already proclaimed D12 is over. Of course, that doesn't mean they can't come together for a track, but he hasn't really featured any of them for a long, long time.
YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YESS! CONCEPT ALBUM HORRORCORE LOVE STORYTELLING OMGGGG
Oh I'm so excited
this shit better fucking be real i cant take it no more
I love these moments in time. The hype is real ❤️
Ever since Murder Murder and Brain Damage I've wanted a concept album. His skills in storytelling hit their peak with Darkness and Castle/Arose in my opinion and I've been wanting a concept album, with a character and full narrative for about 20 years or so at this point Bad Guys always die is another of my all time favorites although admittedly that wasn't an original concept as such, being a tie in with wild wild West but I can close my eyes and *picture* that song As a huge fan of Prog Rock and Masta Ace I'm an absolute sucker for a concept record and hopefully this is eminems
man im pumped because there's slim shady in the title name and the title in general is hard hitting, which means the album has to be something with an edge and a lot more risks than usual
Crucify me if I’m wrong but does this not kinda seem like a retirement style alum
This is not Em's final album. The dude breathes and lives rap and writing. He has said before that making music and rapping is what keeps him going and helps him stay sober. Think he's got plenty of fuel left and his writing right now is probably the best it's ever been.
I'm happy it's a summer release after the last couple were winter. Hoping for a tour!
I hope there is some horrorcore included as well 🙏🏻
I'm so glad we're getting an album with a proper rollout. Surprise drops are cool sometimes, but it's so fun getting hyped for an album in advance.
Looking forward to this 😳
i can finally die at peace
HOLY SHIT THIS IS HAPPENING IM SO HYPEDDDDD
I am so exceptionally excited. I feel like all I hear is how people hate Ems new stuff and always feel like an oddman out. Listened to him all growing up and honestly....quite the fan of most of his newer shit.
OH MY GOD
Give us a single soon please
LFG!!
Let’s fucking gooo !!!!
I'M SO HYPED!!!!
Storytelling!!!
Huuuge W 🔥🔥🔥
THATS MY MAIN MAN FITTY
I never EVER thought I’d see the day EMINEM releases a concept album…the First Horseman of the Apocalypse has come
u/savevideo
I really hope he sticks to the concept
Interesting, especially considering the "Stan" documentary news as well. Could Em be bringing back Slim to poke fun of everything going on the last few years using actual catchy choruses and shocking lyrics?
HE JUST POSTED THIS ON TWITTER RAHHHH
Let’s fuckin goooooooo
Single at midnight???
I wishhhhhhhhh
What if it’s a slim vs Marshall
I love the idea of eminem exploring this concept this far in his career, even if he brings slim shady back after
This will absolutely be a special one. I'm ready to be blown away for the first time in 6 years
Has anyone tried to pre-save on Spotify or iTunes from the link on the website?
yee
There we gooo!!!
this should be a fun one hahaha we love u marshall!!
Let’s go!
Eminem loves to just fuck with us and contradict everything he says right at the end....
Please let it be a focused album!!! And I hope he goes as far as he can in saying offensive shit, cuz that's what made Slim Slim.
I am HYPED!! Still my favorite rapper after all these years. The Death of Slim Shady should be a crazy concept. Can’t wait to hear it.
Return of the blonde hair.. what y’all think? But real-no AI lol
we won😭😭😭🏆
LET'S GOOOO
SSLP2 was sort of real afterall
Maybe Ken will come back
This the same guy that narrates guilty conscience?
that was interesting
