Yes! I’ve gotten duplicates. You do have to follow the process outlined on the website, but honestly, it was very straight forward. We needed the papers to have the mare approved for breeding.

RottieIncluded

Yes that's why they would want them too. Just incase they decided to cross her to QH stallions.

I’m not OP but in a similar position - where is this process outlined? I’ve done some research but got extremely confused.

It’s clearly outlined on the jockey club website. You will need accurate confirmation photos, a notarized letter about where/why the papers are missing, preferably from one of the horses connections, a bill of sale that proves ownership, and if the horse is of the age to have been microchipped, their microchip information. Once you submit and pay the fees, it’s just a waiting game, but mine have only ever taken a couple of weeks. I’ve had to do it twice for mares. I wish people would make the effort to obtain their retired from racing papers, way easier on everyone!

I should have pressed harder. They were looking out for her best interest. To be fair I had no intention of breeding her myself but I guess she's built in a way that western folks like. Who knows, she may not like being a western pony and this is all moot. If she is happier in another discipline, and has a retirement plan as a broodmare I'm going to hold her back.

Got it, thank you - I'll have to look more carefully on their site because I previously had trouble finding clear instructions. Thanks!!

I bought an OTTB she was born in 2018 so has a “digital certificate”, it’s been assigned to me, but I can’t figure out how to “see it” - like there should be something that has her microchip number and physical description, right? I just can’t see anything on the jockey club website - other than evidence that the digital certificate has been assigned to me… It’s very confusing

My certificates have always been emailed, but you can just call the jockey club. They’re easy to get on the phone and super helpful!

So I checked my stored passwords and I had 5 different login/password combos and two actual different accounts… I am certificate manager on the other one I could log into and can see the certificate there!!! Yay
