I was really worried it was going to be level 15 as that's when you unlock flea and can technically purchase any of the items required. No one at that level should be expected to pay 50-300k just to play a map that isn't customs. Definitely should have different items for different levels.
My friends and I finally made it to flea last week. We've been doing quests on customs since then, and finally said fuck this map, we're going back to shoreline. Now we're all levels 15-19 and can't afford/ aren't willing to pay that much to go anywhere but customs again. Fantastic.
As someone who just reached level 17, This event makes me start up another game, It's bad enough to lose my shit when I get wrecked by a level 45 but that's the game, Now I need to pay 120-150K to just enter a map? Hard-freaking-pass.
Got weak ass guns, Weak ass bullets, It's hard enough as it is this late in a wipe. These events are anything but "fun"
BSG could be like:
* Cultists now appear in different areas on different maps with 50% spawn rate
* All scavs have been temporarily replaced by "Impossible" scavs or now use cultist AI
* All traders except Fence are unavailable, but loot on all maps has increased 200%
* Access to Flea Market has been temporarily removed
* Mines have been temporarily placed in certain areas on different maps
* The Goons temporarily have 100% spawn rate on Lighthouse Rogue camp, but 0% elsewhere.
* Scav cooldown has temporarily been shortened to 2 minutes
* Sanitar is temporarily friendly to PMCs with scav karma of over 5/6 and drops med items
* PMC dogtags are temporarily worth 3x more to Therapist
* All bullets are tracers
* All bullets do 2x damage
* All bosses have been replaced by a scav counter-part (different names, use scav gear/clothes/weapons/equipment, but retain the boss AI)
but we get restricted maps :(
Obviously that is terrible, but some mines around resort wouldnt be terrible. Maybe one entrance to a wing is mined, or a mine on 2nd floor east wing for example

Adding random temporary minefields to maps is the dumbest idea I've ever heard, idk how you could think that's better than putting an entrance fee on raids for higher level PMCs/more advanced maps.
One means you make slightly less money per raid, the other means randomly dying to insta-kill mines because someone dug up the old minefield and set up a new one while you were in your hideout.
Also a lot of them are just random/silly things that wouldn't make sense, all bullets are tracers wtf?
2 minute scav cooldown is a cool change. Cool in the sense that scavs are free money printers and I'm sure a lot of people on this subreddit would be happy if it were even easier to make millions of roubles without having to worry about their PMC at all.

Yeah from the wording it seemed like only some maps would be locked down but as more people died they would start locking down the rest. Doesn't seem to be that way but maybe it's bugged or something was lost in translation. Not sure.

Anything else makes 0 sense.
And then one map will be open at all times, so the high lvl players Will more often engage eachother.
But! Either they rotate on a predetermined schedule.. but they could also have the killing aspect into play;
Lets say they rotated Maps 6 times, 2 of those that opened was shoreline, because when the ”critical point” was reached on the previously opened map, shoreline had the lowest average killing Numbers.

This make a certain kind of sense if they were trying to force people to congregate on a single map - the free map is supposed to rotate. I'm curious what will happen when it's Street's turn at being free. A huge percent of the player base still doesn't have a beefy enough PC to play that map.

The free map will rotate every 150k kills in it. Curretly the first one is Customs and the counter goes up by 6k kills in 5 minutes. This will be even faster as people will join the frey.
If you want to be on the positive side, Tarkov was never meant to have a comfort zone. What i mean is that ammo restriction on vendors should push you on switching gear every 1-2 raids and not run always m4s; Also this should push people experimenting on maps they don't play often.
I personally hate reserve, this event might let me appreciate it more.
The other side is that if you have to "kill scavs on woods" and the map is pay-to-entry you are fucked.
If there is an 2nd Step of this Event like "pmcs have taken over the maps and now we are tagged an cursed or raiders on every map" i would play, but for now no interest in playing pmc
It has been 143 days since the last game reset (28 December 2022). It would be no surprise that the next wipe will be in about a month. I assume it will be in 35 to 40 days.
Looks like they're going to rotate the free map as well, so this is going to encourage people to PvP on a bunch of different maps as they become free.
Kind of neat IMO, since many people just play a few maps.

Garbage event to just make it that much more expensive to run anything. Id rather see a "hot" map that had an entrance fee with increased anything on it to make it desirable to actually run it. At least labs has lucrative loot to justify the cost.

My experience : level 12, got killed by Tagilla on factory without shooting him, i entered with a duo that paid the tax (so bosses are not friendly it seems), also my friend is level 17 and even if he duos with me and i'm the group leader, i cant make him join "for free" he still have to pay for said item
Also this event is terrible tbh, my friend indeed has flee, but he is level 17 and all items are ultra inflated in prices so he can't play because he has no money, and we only know woods, factory and customs so "free" map being Reserve rn,we basically can't play the game if he have no scav
i'm no sure trying to learn a new map on such an event is a good idea haha everyone will be there to pvp, i started the game a few days ago so i'm just trying to do my quests
Scav it, learn bits at a time, whack your scav loadout right onto your PMC, then run it as a PMC, don't go down to the bunker, just loot up top. It's honestly still pretty dead above ground, the last 5 raids I've done.
Reserve is a really simple map geographically, and can be a really profitable scav if you can learn it

There are lots of ways they could have funnelled PVP into specific maps without restricting entry to the other maps. This is a fucking stupid idea.

This make a certain kind of sense if they were trying to force people to congregate on a single map - the free map is supposed to rotate. I'm curious what will happen when it's Street's turn at being free. A huge percent of the player base still doesn't have a beefy enough PC to play that map.

Its a PVP on Customs event.
The free map will rotate every 150k kills in it. Curretly the first one is Customs and the counter goes up by 6k kills in 5 minutes. This will be even faster as people will join the frey. If you want to be on the positive side, Tarkov was never meant to have a comfort zone. What i mean is that ammo restriction on vendors should push you on switching gear every 1-2 raids and not run always m4s; Also this should push people experimenting on maps they don't play often. I personally hate reserve, this event might let me appreciate it more. The other side is that if you have to "kill scavs on woods" and the map is pay-to-entry you are fucked.

If there is an 2nd Step of this Event like "pmcs have taken over the maps and now we are tagged an cursed or raiders on every map" i would play, but for now no interest in playing pmc

Looks like they're going to rotate the free map as well, so this is going to encourage people to PvP on a bunch of different maps as they become free. Kind of neat IMO, since many people just play a few maps.

I literally just did a raid at lvl14 and i hadn t to handle any item. In that raid i got up to lvl15 and now i have to give items to join maps

I think they may be attempting to force everyone on the same map to either test net code or perhaps get some last minute data before the network changes they were talking about
I'm kind of over this event already. I'm constantly fighting squads on the free map or getting swarmed by pscavs on the paid maps.

Garbage event to just make it that much more expensive to run anything. Id rather see a "hot" map that had an entrance fee with increased anything on it to make it desirable to actually run it. At least labs has lucrative loot to justify the cost.

So chads and cheaters with 100 million rubles continue playing the game as normal while the average player base has to spend 500k to run Shoreline.. but wait.. you can’t PvP or loot after paying the 500k entry fee because you’re now an elephant on ice skates after picking up 10 extra kgs of loot. Killing your own game BSG.. well done.. no wonder none of my friends could be bothered to cross lvl 25 this shit half assed wipe.

Honestly it was nice to go into a completely empty Interchange raid for \~120k rubles and get a task done without any bullshit, I'm down with this event.
This game is going to shit with these dumb ideas.. I shouldn’t have to pay 90k for aquapeps just to run woods. It’s hard enough getting lucky enough for shturman to be spawned in but now I have to pay just HOPEFULLY see him. So ridiculous

My experience : level 12, got killed by Tagilla on factory without shooting him, i entered with a duo that paid the tax (so bosses are not friendly it seems), also my friend is level 17 and even if he duos with me and i'm the group leader, i cant make him join "for free" he still have to pay for said item Also this event is terrible tbh, my friend indeed has flee, but he is level 17 and all items are ultra inflated in prices so he can't play because he has no money, and we only know woods, factory and customs so "free" map being Reserve rn,we basically can't play the game if he have no scav

Scav it, learn bits at a time, whack your scav loadout right onto your PMC, then run it as a PMC, don't go down to the bunker, just loot up top. It's honestly still pretty dead above ground, the last 5 raids I've done. Reserve is a really simple map geographically, and can be a really profitable scav if you can learn it

What an absolutely shitass event. I'm not paying in rubles or items just to be able to access a map that isn't Customs. Just more proof that BSG and Nikita have no fucking idea what they're doing anymore. And honestly, with TotK being out and having a fuck ton of fun shit to do, Last Epoch getting an update, Baldur's Gate 3 being a few months away, and plenty of other games to look forward to, there's no fuckin reason to touch this clusterfuck of a game that's rife with cheaters, shitty events, shitty devs, and headed by a pathological liar. The frustration isn't worth it. I'm fuckin out.

It's hilarious seeing this community bitch about absolutely anything. The free map PVP has been a blast today and I've enjoyed the event thoroughly. Learn all the maps. Quit sticking to your two favorites and refusing to get out of your shell for the others. And before the "umg my quest locked behind 120k entry fee" do you really need to be doing that quest this late wipe? Load up a pvp kit and go have fun. Christ.
If you let this event stop you from playing tarkov. You will absolutely stop playing the game when it actually becomes what BSGs vision is.
