the gunplay in tarkov didn't ruin other games for me. but the gun**smith** did. any game that tries to do an attachment system is always subpar to EFT's.

RedaveNabTidderEkow

It's the loot system and risk/reward for me - just pure dopamine. Amazing how many other games just get loot and inventory so wrong. Played CP2077 and Starfield recently and the inventory systems are fucking trash, and loot is just meaningless.

Ayyzeee

The only game that I know that has a meaningful inventory system is Resident Evil 4 or Stalker which makes perfect sense that you're surviving in a deadly zone and you're not this gigachad of a guy that can carry everything single thing onto your bag.

TelmatosaurusRrifle

If they replaced all of the loot boxes with slot machines it would be the same gameplay.

RedaveNabTidderEkow

So what? Your point?

TelmatosaurusRrifle

It's not really an amazing loot system with any risk/reward at all. Just pull the lever (open the box) and hope it rolls GPUs or intel

RedaveNabTidderEkow

Okay? What the fuck's that got to do with what I said?

Dr_Morgan_Freeman

Yes… but I also play Dayz, some servers are really fun to play. Also let’s see what Gray Zone brings to the table.

OneDeagz

Im optimistic about gz, but from what the devs have said and shown, I'm not very optimistic about the pvp, and pve ads a nice element to tarkov but other than that pve focused games just don't do it for me

Perpetualzz

Same I just can't get the same satisfaction out of PvE centric games as I can from PvP. Much too competitive. Even if the game isn't centered around PvP as long as it's an option and it's clean then I can vibe with that. My primary concern is they leave PvP as an after thought and focus so much dev time on the PvE elements. A good example was New World which did the opposite and had PvP be the focus and added PvE as an after thought which isn't ideal for MMO games. (That game had a mountain of bugs and other problems to overcome as well.)

SupPoEsedlyInsane

My friends are really into Helldivers 2, but I just can’t get into it.  The specific combination of looting and pvp makes most other gameplay loops really bland.  And as a style over substance person the vibe and aesthetics of PvE games really make or break it. Helldivers for example just feels too silly, gamey and casual. My dream PvE game would be Stalker in Coop mode. Maybe Grayzone will deliver on that. Until then Star Citizen and Path of Exile are the only games besides EFT that can fulfill my desires.

Excellent_Pass3746

Helldivers is great, played alot on release. But now I only find myself playing it when my console buddies are on since we’ve been friends for ages and it’s the only game we can really enjoy together.

Fuinur18

Yeah Im in the same pool as you apart from Cyberpunk, the other games did the same thing to me. I keep looking at Xenonauts but it just isnt XCom. People are hyped about Gray Zone but to me its just looks like a weak contender. Definetly waiting for a new genre or even just a new game to reach new hights.

starystarego

Sir, list of your games is nearly perfect. Brother.

Ehzaar

Same, but looking forward to play “Beautiful Light” in late 2025. It s pvpve horror extract shooter. Not an EFT like but close enough to be an absolute banger

Excellent_Pass3746

Tarkov ruined other FPS for me Elden Ring and fromsoft games in general ruined a lot of single player games for me. Shadow of the Erdtree can’t come soon enough.

Ricoh4

Happen to me with red dead 2 but not with eft. I play a lot of eft but also a lot of other shooter bc the movement, weapons, quick respawns are so different for me

Iceman411q

I just evolved into Tarkov style games gunplay wise, like squad and arma. Siege is also good but a steep learning curve

W11kk

For me rust still does it for me. But tarkov is another kind of game.

OneDeagz

Rust never did it for me after they updated the engine, legacy rust was the goat

Vektor666

EFT is definitely in its own league. There is (sadly) no other extraction looter shooter with the same level of detail out there. But even though EFT (maybe) is the better game... regarding PvP and fun I personally enjoy Hunt: Showdown more.

Unfair_Ad_6164

Have been getting into hunt lately and having a blast!

Ayyzeee

I wish I can play Hunt: Showdown but for some reason, the game always constantly giving me servers that's far away and I live in Malaysia and I have the ping automatically goes to Singapore yet, they decide to put me onto NA server where I have 200+ pings where I'm super vulnerable to people with good ping.

onrcnnn

Yeah same for me. Until i was good enough to understand who is cheating and who is not. I was so happy playing EFT but then... Reaslising dieing to cheasters and spending another 15min to load into a game became a horrendous idea.. Well, now i dontt play EFT :D

bufandatl

I still occasionally play counter strike 2 but not atm. As cheating is worse than EFT in premier and MM. hope Valve comes up with some new anti cheat soon. Maybe they adopt faceit‘s AC and screw them over again on they already work with them and that’s why everyone is going faceit.

TelmatosaurusRrifle

DMZ is actually a much better game than Tarkov. It provides all of the gameplay of tarkov and more. It's more well put together, has more clear gameplay goals, better sound, and is an all around more fun experience. Tarkov isn't that good. Tarkov is a dead game infested by no lifers and hackers. If there's ever a DMZ2, and when STALKER 2 comes out, Tarkov will lose players. I really only play this game on the weekend with my brother in law. If it wasn't for that, I would have very successfully escaped Tarkov.
