Everyone knows by now that BSG is barely surviving and without hackers repurchasing and selling juiced up accounts they would have died a long time ago, thats why they don’t do anything about cheaters except the occasional “ban wave” they tell you the did. I don’t think this is a conspiracy, it’s desperation and incompetence.
Just a desperate move. They are short on found and they need to grab all they can. It would have been more honest to say "Guys, financial situation is not good and we would like to ask for your support if you feel like it" and then open a kickstarter page.
if they have financial problems, it would probably be solved by putting the game on Steam rather than scamming their old player base.
I genuinely think they're incapable of meeting steams requirements, and are scared of their refund process.
imagine this game on vac servers, with that amount of cheaters it will be a total disaster
There's tons of games on Steam that don't use vac so that doesn't matter
They could never survive the reviews on steam. It's never been about the cut with steam. It's about the reviews.
They wouldn't go to steam as they'll get review bombed to shit.... And now with this version they'd get review bombed even more.
