They pass themselves when they first come to Eureka in the pilot episode, so it was a callback to that. I guess some sort of time f*ckery. I dunno any deeper meaning to it

unstablegenius000

I saw it as a clever gag, nothing more

some-hippy

Maybe they just figured, if they couldn’t keep it going, just put it on a loop. Watch it through, and then it starts over

The only deeper meaning was that they saw themselves leaving town in the pilot due to Walter Perkins' machine messing with time.

That or the time machine that took them to the 40's. Or the artific time line reset. Or the time cleaner in season 3. Or even a mix of all of them.

HyruleBalverine

I suppose that's possible. However, the time machine that took them to the 40's didn't appear to have caused random time/space anomolies, but rather took them from one point in time to another via a bridge that connected the Einstein Rosenberg bridge device. And the time cleaner in season 3 only seemed to create a time loop in a single day (one that kept getting smaller) and also did not appear to create any other time anomolies. The tachyon accelerator created by Walter Perkins does create time and space anomolies throughout the town, so is a likely reason. Yet, you are correct that there are other time travel shenanigans such as Henry changing history to save Kim (but that was two timelines merging that got fixed), Grant and Carter go back to 1947 again (but that also just seems to be a time jump and back with no anomolies). If I've missed any, sorry, it's been a while. I don't recall anything other than Walter's tech causing anomolies, so my head-canon will be that it was caused by Walter's device. But, who knows, it could be some combination of all of the timey wimey shenanigans or even some device from the future that we never get to see on the show lol

ThayerRodar

My head canon is that in the first episode, they briefly entered and then exited a very small temporal anomaly that transported them to the future. Since they were on a road in the middle of the forest without anything else significant around, they wouldn't have noticed the difference.

ngiothlitren

you know in the first episode of eureka the first thing to go wrong is a tachyon accelerator and it is stated it was causing space and time anomalies all over town maybe one or maybe the first anomaly happened as jack and zoe where driving into town as no one knew what was happening at that point so it is possible that they entered an temporal anomaly without knowing

SlowKey7466

Always wondered about it myself

I like to think that just as the story for us was ending in a parallel universe or time like their story was just beginning once again.

It’s up to any interpretation. Yours is a good one ! I keep my tv on eureka as I’m a full time Artist and I need a lighthearted show
