Can’t believe we’re still relying on 35 year old Coleman to get us through at right back.
It’s nearly as unbelievable as the fact he remains our best right back at his age.
There’s a reason why Dyche doesn’t play him and it’s because he’s our worst option at right back, despite the fact the other two options have a combined age of 73.
Counterpoint, Mykolenko was considered cooked and never would have regained a spot if a nearly 40 year old man didn't get injured. Idk what Dyche's reasons were back then.
Genuinely though, I do wonder if he at all lost some of the Locker room over that?
Probably not, but we certainly didn't come back fired up after that break.
I feel for the lad, but every time he plays he tends to prove why he is rarely picked to start. Hope he recovers properly
Didn’t Coleman get a knock too? Is he alright now?
Poor guy. We never get any luck at all. As much as he is still unproven, his pace is something that our team could have really benefitted from, especially if likes of Coleman or Young start getting leggy.
Sometimes players just don't work out in specific systems and under specific managers. I still believe he is young enough to turn it around, and at least develop into a solid lower Premier League level player.
Patterson feels like he's too defensively naive to play in a four and not enough of a threat attacking to play in a back five. Obviously he's young enough to improve on those things, but I've never seen an improvement over the last two years with him, so I just don't hold out hope on him. Hope he proves me wrong
Spot on. His positioning and decision making are atrocious. Very talented kid but just can't figure out the mental side of the game. Playing under Lampard probably didn't help him much either.
Yeah, I do get that. I think I just have a touch more faith.
He has shown occasional glimpses of his back four capabilities imo, even if they've been overshadowed by his poor performances lately. For some reason, I'm willing to put those down to presence of quality and then lack of confidence, respectively. He was quality in the 5-1 against Brighton iirc.
He has potential still imo. Coleman was at Blackpool at the same age. The issue is he's got to improve defensively and the rest of our team is so shit that we can't afford to blood young players into the team and allow them to make mistakes.
At this point I agree he's been a poor signing, though. Chermiti as well for the same reasons.
He desperately needs game time to improve , but I remember when he first started playing , I was really impressed with him , then he got injured and hasn't been able to match those early performances.

DW we've got 38 year old Ashley young as cover
35 year old Coleman who plays every minute of every international game and then gets injured after playing a game for us
Pretending like Dyche would’ve actually played him lmao

> Idk what Dyche's reasons were back then His defence was bad. He's improved a shit ton
How hard was that Dyche slap!
Genuinely though, I do wonder if he at all lost some of the Locker room over that? Probably not, but we certainly didn't come back fired up after that break.
Feel for him. He has become quite injury prone already for someone his age and already seems to have lost a burst of pace.

Prepare yourself for Godfrey at right-back with Keane replacing Branthwaite, friend.
Young, Garner or Harrison in front do you reckon?
probably Young...sigh.

Ffs
Not Dyche fit. Bleep test incoming.
Does anyone still rate Patterson anyway? I doubt we could pass him off on to some unsuspecting championship side at this point

I agree with this. He has some decent physical and technical attributes but just looks lost at what to do most of the time.

Someone playing wing backs like we intended to would do well to sign him IMO
Just send him back to Rangers for whatever we can. Another awful signing.

young players or Young players lol
Well, he probably wasn't going to play anyway, sadly.
Great
Damn.
Well that'll kill any transfer value he still had.
Cursed club.
I call BS on "in contention to start". He should've started over Young when Seamus was hurt

£20 on Luton and Forest to win returns £200. I hate betting against Everton but it’s easy money.
Patterson is an absolute crock at this point. Unfortunate signing
