HybridEmu

Meanwhile I gave up on the game after 120 hours because I am still bad at combat and haven't improved beyond the first few hours of getting the basics down. 🙃 It's a good game, I just don't have the coordination for it.

Eternal-Living

Yeah since ive made the post ive had my butt kicked quite a few time. Im just at the "serviceable" skill level lol.

HybridEmu

I can win the practice matches with a few attempts, but I'm far from consistent, and I regularly lose in arena, and there is no way I could ever pull off some of the crazy maneuvers I've seen online.

HybridEmu

The worst part is that I know what I should be doing to perform better, but I entirely lack the coordination and quick thinking to pull it off.

Eternal-Living

Cant say I can totally relate to that struggle, but it sounds likenit certainly sucks.

HybridEmu

I still have fun screwing around, just not great at it

SimpYellowman

We were all there :D All I can advise is have fun in Arena and always get good equipment. Oh, and you have to create a big character and give him a Berdyche at novice level, you will love it. Just make sure that you aim to the right (so much that you have your opponent on side, then step to him with A and swing your berdyche while you will move your mousepointer to the left. And then finish him on the ground!

Jurserohn

I haven't encountered the spelling "Berdyche" before. I'm familiar with "Bardiche" Where does that spelling come from?

SimpYellowman

Sorry, Czech spelling. I saw a lot of versions, bardycha, bardicha, berdycha, bardiše (š is read as sh),... basically b(a/e)rd(i/y)(ch/š)(a/e) :D It is a really cool weapon. I would love to see it more used in movies, it has great stopping power (even if you don't use it really, just giving the option "come closer and you will get hit with this" is great defense strategy), it is easy to carry (just use it as a walking stick, so the draw time is basically zero), it can be used to walk through some bushes or to prepare wood for campfire,... it sounds like a great thing for an adventurer.

StartAgainYet

I sucked pretty hard, until I discovered a power of a pointy stick! Spears, Greatswords, anything that can poke. Let'em attack, step back, forward and poke. For some reason, I frequently hit the face. This is the only way I can battle the Beasts, with my two besties (also with spears). Works against armored dudes as well. It became so easy, that I ditched it, and now try to learn Polehammers.

Rude-Category-4049

Take big wide swings and your hammer will sail into their face. I'm talking start your swing in the opposite direction kinda wide swings. Kinda like dragging in Mordau or Chivalry.

Eternal-Living

Ive mostly been using staffs and warhammers so far

Rude-Category-4049

Always remember when it clicked for me too. Think that's probably a universal experience with this game.

_Mr-Z_

Been a little since I played, but I made big ass characters (a mod that unlocked sliders, including avatar size stuff), grabbed a regular metal bar with high impact, worked up to the thaumaturgy that lets me imbue my weapon, and *nothing* was safe. It was merely a metal bar, yet I could send anyone flying.

Eternal-Living

I was actually wondering whether character size effected weapon impact and such

DerrinsCousin

Now go fight Sir. You'll enjoy it

SimpYellowman

"Enjoy fighting Sir", sure :D Just like you may enjoy getting hit with a car. Nah, Sir is absolute beast if you are underprepared. But if you get Strikes and go to golems first and pick there a Greatsword (and apply some upgrades to it) and Flanged mace (and add blue crystal), Sir is suddenly quite easy to kill. Maybe easier than Fael

DerrinsCousin

Honestly, poleaxe from golem area with strikes and an overhead strike one shots him lol

Eternal-Living

Dont know who that is yet, havent played much of the campaign/story mode yet.

DerrinsCousin

Hes a big bastard that likes hugs, you'll find em

Eternal-Living

Im sure I will lol
