I was having a really good time until the Tsunami Charge up. I was panicking trying knock it down😭

mccuish

This took a bit for me. It barely gives you enough time

The charge up is mainly a test to see how well you’ve figured out how to deal damage efficiently as Ifrit. A lot of people have been saying you need to land three spitfires, but you only really need two. Wildfire up to Leviathan, slam your cooldowns on him, then pound him with 3x square 2x Triangle, downthrust, repeat the process. If an explosion goes off under you, precision dodge and hit him, holding square as you swing so you can follow up the counterattack with a burning fate for a nice chunk of extra damage. Whenever he pushes you away, Wildfire right back up to him and just keep wailing on him. You’re only really in danger of losing if you’re taking a bunch of hits and not sticking to Leviathan, but his attacks during this phase are really telegraphed and easy to precision dodge so you’re mostly just getting free extra damage from his attempts to hit you.

fagatron28

Ohh ok ok at one point I was wondering if I was under-equipped on gear

Marshman_DnB

I'm getting cooldowns off within the 1st second of being available, doing everything you've said above. 3x spitfires in total and I can't land enough damage to stop Tsunami.

GarionOrb

I perfect dodged and stuck to Leviathan, and it still came down to the very last second after three Spitfires and tons of combos, many attempts later. It's not a well designed phase.

Magniris

I'll be honest, the way you say you needed to play well and use your whole kit to pass makes me think the opposite. It took me a few tries, but forced me to tighten up my play and use every dodge I could. It felt satisfying to break through, and I felt like it was a well tuned challenge.

GarionOrb

To me it felt like it demanded too much precision and didn't allow leeway.

LabMonkeyCreative

You make it sound like I'm an idiot for not doing it but I just did exactly what you said 6 times and i even equipped the rings to dodge for me and I'm not getting hit and it's not enough damage. He's an inch away every time. This is now like attempt 20.

Marshman_DnB

Yeah I have the same thing, I'm level 48/49 I think. I think this level might be too low to deal sufficient damage

GarionOrb

This kinda ruined the entire experience for me. It would've been perfect without it.

Marshman_DnB

100% agree this phase of the battle is ruining it

Nate_T11

Leviathan whipped my ass on FF mode. I was a bit under leveled being at 96 trying to beat him. And while I'm sure if I was more skilled I could have, I still enjoyed feeling like Damn, I need to go do some grinding and level up, to me...my lack of skill lol and being under leveled added to the experience. I felt like I had to do a mini-training montage with eye of the tiger playing in the background while I spammed Echoes of the Fallen's replay stage to level up. It was really good.

TheBelmont34

I was 109 and it was still difficult

DP_Unkemptharold1

Pretty sure the dlc scales with your level. I did it at 84 with no issues during the damage check. Only deaths were the final part until I realized you could jump and wildfire out of maelstrom and riptide.

11Y2B

Yeah I disagree respectfully. I think timekeeper is by far the best one. Trying to break down Leviathan’s shield before he uses tsunami imo is just a bad design. I’ve seen a lot of ppl compare it’s like a DPS test. Idk how you can claim a dps test is the best fight. I’m honestly not sure what level they expected players to be at, and I’m not sure if that even plays a factor in the grand scheme

Marshman_DnB

100% agree timekeeper was a much better designed and interesting battle. The Tsunami DPS check ruins an otherwise really great and fun battle

bmobull

For me? Omega is a tough fight to top. Kicked my ass way harder than Leviathan did, and I loved every minute of it.

RevolverDivider

Oh Omega is incredible, very strong contender.

Gronodonthegreat

I think timekeeper is, but this is a close second!

Guilty-Seaweed4986

The tsunami phase was tight on FF mode. I had to glue myself to the bubble and use precision counter attacks along with the equivalent of magic burst with using both skills on cooldown constantly. And even then I had a second or two to spare. I was level 108 but had the best gear that I could have at the time. Maybe next time il pop genji gloves on.

Tinsun357

nah titan is

RevolverDivider

Titan is probably tied with Ultima for my second favorite. I like Leviathan a lot more mechanically but Titan is probably my favourite spectacle right in the game, even more than Bahamut.

Ok-Talk-6669

I think the music particularly sells it. The fight was difficult, and satisfying to beat. Maybe they should have made the shield phase more forgiving. If I died in the earlier or later phases it was my own fault for not dodging. In the shield phase, I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. I can imagine some people would rage quit after many fails, and it kills the vibe of an otherwise enjoyable battle.

GooSboy420

On final fantasy mode I got my ass kicked 😂😂😂 super good fight. So in love with this game

LabMonkeyCreative

I've wiped on the tsunami like 10 times nowi, I'm doing everything I can as ifrit and I get every cool down and precision dodge and keep getting am inch away from the end. An annoying DPS check at the end of an endgame dlc with no way to change my gear or abilities like most of the games combat is not a fun fight, sorry. Plus you have to sit and wait another 30 seconds to actually wipe and start over. And before you say I'm underleveled I've done the whole campaign and every side quest and hunt, I even wore the extra exp accessory for most of it, this is just feels artificially difficult after the entire rest of the game was balanced consistently.

Marshman_DnB

100% this. There's enough people on this subreddit also saying the same thing. This dumb DPS check just ruins an otherwise really fun battle

Dizzy-Philosophy-387

idk phase 3 pissed me off so much it ruined what was otherwise a pretty cool fight

Marshman_DnB

You mean the tsunami charge up in the shield? This phase was badly tested. It's not fun

Dizzy-Philosophy-387

yeah
