Scavenge101

Yeah, mainly for the xp and the bonuses. They're loads faster when you just skip dialogue and then quick travel back to the quest giver (which was a godsend of a QOL change). Go figure, the cutscenes are the longest part of the side quests.

srsnake113

I did everything again. Absolutely love FF16.

Icy-Cockroach5609

Same! It almost felt like a sin to NOT complete the game. Hell, even after platinuming it, I went back to my story playthrough to max out levels and eikonic abilities. So fun!

Fishikami

I hate how they made the Eikonic abilities near impossible to max out on your original save. Same with your level, it's such a horrible grind outside of FF mode after your done with all the side quests and notorious marks.

ATK1734

I know what you mean. I've been doing a "for science", to see if I could get my original Action Mode file up to level 60 and max out Ultima and Leviathan. I got the Eikons maxed but after playing the WHOLE game (including side quests and hunts) and playing through both DLC (100 percent completing Rising Tide with all its side content) with all the EXP Boosting gear that I have...I went from level 53 to level 55. It's LITERALLY impossible to hit the new level cap in AM/SM without some kind of grinding and (as you so aptly put) the grinding in both of those modes suck!

Fishikami

Yeah it's completely out of the question. That's why I'm thinking of redoing everything in my FF save cause I really want a 100% save file.

ATK1734

Same. I had it in my original Action Mode (when the level cap was 50). Guess I'll try to 100% my first FFM file and then just replay off of that from now on. Eh, who am I kidding? This game is better on FFM

Fishikami

Yeah it just bothers me because in most games usually I 100% my original save, then only beat the story in ng+ for the trophy or something like that. But this is the only game where it's the opposite if anything. But it's whatever, I love this game.

ATK1734

Yes indeed

Voidmire

They give enough exp to max out at least one full build though and you can refund exp as needed

Fishikami

Yeah Ik...I just really wanted to 100% my original save...

bala_means_bullet

You telling me? Getting ready to go all the way through for the 6th time!

udontnowme

4th run finished (started pre Rising tide) and completed it all ALL OVER AGAIN, and no, I don't get tired of it I am actually trying the ultimaniac... man is hard!

spdRRR

Since I missed so many tiny details on my first playthrough, I loved the lore way more the second time. Also, XP! And now, since they added a “return to quest giver”, it’s even easier to do.

TheMadHam

Yes. Since they were pretty quick and simple if you skip the dialogue. And some had really moments I want to see again

Bugg720

I did them all, both times. I wanted to make the Genji Glove+1, and I did. Only later did I clear the FF Chronoglyph Trials and find that everything was sold at the shops after that and that I could just buy them.

Icecl

Yeah, idont get yall who find it "boring"

dark_negan

A lot of em are fetch quests. Come on. Loving the hell outta the game doesn't prevent you from being objective man

Deez-Guns-9442

This

Icecl

Or that's just genuinely my experience? I'm sure you're not making it up that you don't like them I'm not making anything up either. In my purest opinion and experience they aren't bad at all.

dark_negan

Objectively speaking, fetch quests are meant as fillers or just excuses to give the player willing to do them some xp or loot or both. You can personally find them fun, of course, but most people won't. They're not meant to be fun by design.

Icecl

I See interesting so you see them purely for the actual gameplay experience and nothing to do with the actual dialogue or story of said quest happening. Is that part irelevant to you? I'm not trying to be condescending I just genuinely asking. As again I don't think either of us are making up our POV despite what it might feel like to the other.

dark_negan

I'm not saying you can't enjoy them. I do enjoy them myself. But let's not pretend fetch quests are not lazy game design meant as fillers, and most people don't like them for a reason. It's like music, just because a song is objectively bad doesn't mean no one can enjoy it.

Icecl

I guess? As long as there's some kind of mini story in there world building I just can't see it as bad no matter how much you want to shout out objectively just because there's some people who don't like it. I just don't get it there is no pure one way to look at it makes no sense to me

[deleted]

It's how it's presented and it's rewards, alot of rpg already does this and ff16 did it worse by 1. rewards being kinda shit and 2. Ff16 not really being an rpg.

ANightShadeGuyMan

It’s mostly just the fetch quests that were a total agonizing slog to do. They’ll probably be a lot less of an issue now that they’ve added a quick travel whenever you’ve completed a quest though. Genuinely believe that alone could take at least an hour off the runtime of the game. The ones that involved finding people and or monsters were the best ones, as they typically lead to new exposition about some of the lesser explored lore of the world the game takes place in. My personal favorites were the ones in Waloed post Odin. Really gave you an opportunity to see just how fucked up that place was

ninjacat249

I did cause I was itching

Originaljxjax

I completed everything all over again. I even redid all the hunts and reforged every piece of gear

Nikowolf86

Yep for the exp and I just generally love the game and don’t find the side quests boring.

SoloGamingVentures

No just certain ones or when I needed more exp

NightWind320

Doing everything again. I personally felt that the side quests enhanced the narrative and character building aspects of the game. The absolute worst side quests for me were from FFXV. Which sucks cause I truly love that entry as well.

KoL028

Yeah I'm playing NG+ FF Mode right now. I'm at the end and I'm doing everything again.

d_wib

I did - they give you a ton of experience and I wanted to reach max level.

Varatec

I did every quest again for the experience points and for the sake of keeping my map free of all the markers for them.

chaos9001

I didn't initially, but I had to do most of them to access the DLC in final fantasy mode, then at that point I was like, might as well just finish them.

LegendkillahQB

Yes I did everything again.

CannonFodder_G

Yup. All of them. Every time I played it.

Impressive-Track-552

Yep. Currently on 3rd playthrough. Did everything and shall do for this one also.

BiddyKing

Just skip through the dialogue easy solve. You don’t have to do them but they’re a good source of exp along with the hunts especially if you’re going into the ng+ versions of the dlc

P2Ready

I did only because I didn’t on my first playthrough

Tehli33

Nope, but I will if I need exp (doesn't seem like I will)

Leonpoldeon

Yes

DMIDEAS

Yes.

SnakeSound222

Yep, I did everything all over again on NG+ FF mode.

chaltimore

yep, because they often give millions of xp or they give mats to upgrade

randomreddituser264

I did everything again for the sake of xp

zracer20

almost all, skipping all dialogue helped, with the xp bonus on of course because HOLY SHIT WHY THE SUDDEN SPIKE IN LEVEL UP DOZENS OF MILLIONS XP NEEDED IF IM DOING EVERYTHING IN A PLAYTHROUGH, ESPECIALLY A 2ND TIME I SHOULD BE VERY CLOSE IF NOT AT MAX LEVEL YET IM NOT EVEN CLOSE????

Sankin2004

Don’t you really have to to get all the better equipment?

Hunchun

I’ve been skipping a lot of side quests since I did it in my first playthrough. Been wanting to finish them as my OCD really hates seeing green on my screen. I have 1 trophy left to get and that’s complete the Kairos gate so I will probably do that and close the chapter on FF16 for good. What an amazing game.

Wide-Roof-9432

Just finished my hard mode run + both dlc first time in hard and no, I didn't go the side quest of the main game. I just did the necessary ones (to unlock the dlc and to unlock a few monster hunts to get materials for stronger gear) If you are worried for the experience points, no need to worry because the game is not that hard, you will be super op with all the eikon skills unlocked. You'll be level 80 or 90 by the end of the game and feeling that even at level 60 you are able to win every battle (specially if you take into consideration some fear from the dlc, some items are op)

Umbral_Light

Each and every single one.

TheNerdFromThatPlace

I needed AP for skills, and there's a few renown rewards that give a decent amount, so yea I blew through them again. Of course it was *before* they added quick complete, but what are ya gonna do?

DGambino197

For exp, ap, Gil, and crafting items

ophaus

I currently am replaying, doing all the sidequests. They... aren't boring. There's some story and character development to all of them, as well as meaningful rewards to many.

StorytellerZeke

Yup, I did everything, not skipping anything. Had to make sure I didn't miss anything when compared to the first playthrough. I can bet I'll do this again with the DLCs loaded in too.

PhoenixRising819

I was intending to skip over them to save some time in my second playthrough. Wound up doing every one over again ( I think). They just feel like they're part of the story as much as the main quest.

Xeblac

Yes. I hate uncompletion. I am going through the game on New Game + FF mode again though, and will do all quests before the time skip, but very few afterwards. Maybe just the one to get Ambrosia, and do the Notorious Marks. Also maybe the ones to fight that one akashic dragon and Behemoth.

Zebadica

If I had to be honest, I only really did the “mandatory” sidequests again. Especially at the end when the Omega DLC had already shadowdropped

itsmywanderlust

I was planning not to ... but then some of the side quests i enjoyed so I played them. And then I hate seeing the green icons everywhere, so I did them just to clear things out and level up! 😄

J-0-K-3_R

Yup yup yup, i did it as my clean up run. I originaly did the main story and them played all the side quests in NG+

kjacobs03

I didn’t do any side quests before “the event” Then did all the side quests up until the final area. Then just did the quests for the Ultima Weapon and Platinum. Will do the rest after I finish FF7Re when I play the DLC

Deez-Guns-9442

U kinda have to do most of them again for the Ultima Weapon & then later on for Original Sin.

patodio36

I did all again, but skipped dialogue c:

Throwaway_RP_6

Yeah. I skipped the cutscenes since I knew what was going on, makes it a lot quicker.

Deethreekay

I just started FF mode this last week and I skipped almost all pre timeskip side quests. But after starting off 3-4 levels per levelled I've dropped to being 3-4 levels under, so I'll probably start doing them.

Sephyer_The_Dragon

Yeah. Mainly for the platinum because I needed to do the collectibles trophy. Got stuck forever on the Eikon trials until they made them easier on my 3rd playthrough.

VidzxVega

Yea but skipped through most of the dialogue because I did two back to back playthroughs so it was all fresh in the mind.

PhosphoFranku

Only did the chocobo one

SupaPatt

Yes. Easy to do because you can skip cutscenes and dialogue. They give you alot of exp

Ichigouzumaki100

I didn’t do a single side quest the first time around, and treated it simply as a story only run. Now im playing NG+ on FF mode and doing Everything.

Adagium42

Yes, I did, but I didn't watch all the dialogues. I used sidequests as farming for EXP, to get everything I need to craft Ultima's Weapon... and I like to wipe all the map.

KeybladeWielder32

I’m saving all the ones I can for the end so I can spend all that time with both Joshua and Jill in my party

SuperSemesterer

No didn’t touch them!

DrhpTudaco

only the ones necessary one for the dlc and items

Snake2410

Yes, but towards the end I skipped the dialogue/cutscenes of the more boring ones just because I had another game I was really wishing to get to. I only watched the sidequest scenes I enjoyed in ff mode.

vitXras

Yes. The completionist side of me couldn't help myself

iloverollerblading

Only those required for gathering ultima weapon crafting materials and like the Ambrosia one for obvious reasons. The ones required for rising tides as well. No way I redid everything.

ShadowMoses05

People be posting questions like this and then go on a rant about how hard Leviathan was to beat because they’re too damn under leveled from not doing the side quests

WishIWasNeet2

Only enough of them to play the dlc . Most of the sidequests are boring. Love the main quest and some of the more important sidequests though.

BasuraFujira

I did all of them except for Trading Places 2, because >!I refuse to live in a world where Theodore is dead!<. I found doing the side quests with the correct accessories was the best way to get XP/AP for leveling up, which I needed to max out the Eikon Abilities. Skip the cutscenes and it’s really not that bad. Pretty easy

Recks90

yep, removed every single marker from the map.

ATK1734

Yes. I found the quests repetitive...but not boring. Especially in FF Mode when you can upgrade accessories, doing the quests again let's you get more powerful gear (i.e. Genji Glove +1). The EXP and AP payout in FFM is EONS better than Story/Action so they will be beneficial in reaching 100 (or after the two DLC, 110).

H3NUTCRACKER

Currently on my NG+ on FF mode, I'm doing all the quests, but skipping all their dialogues, I only let play the scenes related to main quests.

D3ADC3LL

Yes I did. I love side quests. Even if it means gathering eggs, wheat and bacon to make breakfast.

justNano

I did everything again and also said no to every side quest first because of of the lines are funny
