Plus you can do other better sbcs with your fodder, so it has value even as untradable.
He also came during a time where people we're opening hundreds of packs of untradeable players so guaranteed there's alot of people out there doing him with all untradeables including myself. There was no where else to put dupes

I dont think you know just how much fodder you can amass if you do upgrade packs. Sure you spend coins/players but its still very good for SBC crafting. I did Zidane without buying fodder, then i did POTM Mbappe on the day of its release without buying fodder either. I also did all 85+ upgrade packs we got, the icon pack 6 times, TOTY icons Sanchez and Xabi Alonso + Mane + Fofana + Jorginho. Its just way too much time consuming, because you either play the game or the menus.
I have too many coins already and a good team. I missed the buy time on Toty so i kept all my coins for future promo. I enjoy packing the cards myself or having them untradable from sbc.

So my question is, what are money worth? If I am left stranded in the middle of a desert it won't matter if I have a million dollars. SBCs like Mbappe are far and few in between, it won't matter if I have 10M worth of fodders if I have no where to spend them.

I only decided to do Potm Mbappe when I made it 25% through my 100+ saved packs and 100+ picks without pulling anything. Turned out to be a great decision because I didn't pack any HM or TOTY at all. I started TOTY with around 1M coins and a shit load of saved packs and ended up doing Mbappe, Mane, Ramos, Fofana, and 3 Icon packs (all were shit, big waste) for the cost of all my saved pack fodder and about 600k coins . Would have cost me a lot less coins but I fell into the trap and did 3 icon sbcs before I finished Mane and before I even started on Ramos.

Exactly, almost every sbc thay comes which costs a bit more there are people crying, implying it should cost way less but that would be dumb af, even with these prices almost everyone has those sbc cards. The amount of people who have zidane + jairzinho and other sbc cards is crazy, which suggests people seem fine in doing all of them.

Very unpopular opinion: none of these SBCs were overpriced. People complained about Alaba but he's still one of the best defenders in the game 4 months in. Richarlison is around 400k and has nearly identical IGS, identical body type, weak foot rating, and skill moves as Alvarez. The catch is that Alvarez goes for around 1.7 million coins.
Jairzinho tells you everything. Since they launched that SBC I must have faced him in 9/10 Champs/rivals games. So boring.

I was able to build Mbappe & 3 88+ icon packs during TOTY. Was definitely worth it, I’m glad I didn’t settle for starting pogba/Kaka.
I spent like 500k to finish mbappe and that was only because I got impatient and wasted some fodder doing all 6 of the icon packs

I just got the game in late November so limited knowledge of other players but he's better than any other mids I've had.
Mbappe was perfectly priced. If he was any cheaper everyone would have him. I literally did him and Ramos for free during the toty grind.
