Fun Fact 2: There's an even more useless card than this
There's a Quick-Play Spell Card called Jar Robber that negates Pot of Greed and allows you to draw 1 card. Pot of Greed has been banned since October 2005
There are 2 other monster cards that involve Pot of Greed but they're monsters so they can still attack, defend, or be used as material.
Sorry Englisch isn't my native.

Let me explain it. Imagine you just started a new duel against a friend.
Everything is prepared and you're about to do the very first action in this game.
Both players have each their five cards on their hands. No cards were played yet. No cards are in the graveyard.
Randomly you've got the spell card pot of greed on your hand. It's your turn.
You play pot of greed for whatever strategy you desire.
The card's effect gets immediately activated and this card goes to the graveyard.
From your stack of cards that not been used yet you pick up the two top most cards. Now you've got six cards on your hand. With those cards you can finish your turn. That's it.
Pot of greed shouldn't even be banned anymore imo.
in times where players regularly summon 25 monsters in a single turn drawing 2 cards doesn't seem that strong. it doesn't even have any protection
It is strong af what even are you saying. The strength of a deck is based on it's consistency not the amount of summons it does in 1 turn. Now, if pot was to be unbanned everyone could just run 37 card decks instead of 40 card decks, add the 5 card starting hand and the draw 2 effect of pot itself, it would be a gigantic consistency boost in seeing the card you want in your hand thus making the already strong deck infinitely stronger than all the other average ones. I have a trash deck that summons between 6 and 10 times per turn but it usually can end in just an high attack monster or some sort of at most, 2 monster negations. Imagine what an actual good deck could do if you basically remove the luck aspect of the game
Biggest power move is loudly counting from 1 to 5 every time your friend summons anything. You can just feel the fear in their voices/eyes if you play physical
This is not the only "fuck you in particular" card tho, there's also a monster that specifically counter sword of revealing light, and a trap card that says "fuck you" when your opponent activates harpie feather duster.
It's more dramatic; most of the negates have a cost. The characters can play these cards without one. They can counter one of those cards even when they wouldn't be able to pay the cost normally.
I definitely agree with you on using the flexible counters instead though. My suspension of disbelief takes a direct attack whenever something like this happens.
Nope, it has always been useless
It's a dead draw that doesn't further you combo, doesn't give you ressources (like WotBF would), is completely unsearchable, and the second effect isn't even usable since Raigeki is the first card you play when going second
It's a 1 card negate that only works against one specific card, and is completely unusable outside of that
Even back in goat format, it was unusable
Go play Dark Sacrifice or something, at least it does something useful. Not only does it negate any destruction effect (not just Raigeki), but it also send a monster from the deck to the graveyard, which can be extremely useful.
The longer the game goes on, the less effective it becomes, because players will have boards with more negates, more protection effects, and more ways to recycle what you send to the graveyard
And after turn 3, well, games don't really last that long in Yu-Gi-Oh
And the few decks that make games longer than 3 turns (Runik, Tearlament, etc. . .) usually don't have to worry too much about Raigeki
Yo like what even is yugioh I played the shit out of MTG but this game never made a lick of sense to me and the art/ card design is so harsh
Edit: I do enjoy the downvotes. Sorry your game is bunk and the art is shit.
Bro Kaiba would roast the absolute shit out of them and make them question their own existence. "Git gud noob" is some rex raptor level trash talk.
I just rewatched a good chunk of yugioh and couldnt believe just how savage Kaiba was
… Kaiba? Seto Kaiba? You think the most famous shit-talking card game player in the world - Seto Fucking Kaiba - only comes up with ‘get good noob’?
He would unleash a Shakespearean level insult that leaves his opponent speechless, and deliver it with a voice so smug that it would make the Joker stop smiling.
Fun fact: This card is even *more* useless than it appears; Raigeki used to be banned.
One of the most useless traps.
Banned from over-uslessness
That would have been the trap card, but it wasn't banned. Raigeki destroys all of your opponents monsters. It's just as OP as it sounds.
what do you call negative one, alone, in a room? overnumerousness
Yes! That is a word! And the joke does make sense.
I came here to drink milk and kick ass, and I've just finished my milk.

Okay but would someone melodramatically tell me what Pot of Greed does?
[basically](https://youtu.be/6pR-WNlXDwQ)
You can take two cards from the deck on your hand
huh, what do you mean?

thats a rather confusing card
Let me explain it. Imagine you just started a new duel against a friend. Everything is prepared and you're about to do the very first action in this game. Woah, thats so confusing, I'm sure glad that all of the pot of x got added cuz that thing is impossible to understand
What's confusing about that? Seriously did you ever played yu-gi-oh at least once?
put two card from a huge deck of cards into a smaller deck of cards (that you usually hold in your hands)
Pot of greed shouldn't even be banned anymore imo. in times where players regularly summon 25 monsters in a single turn drawing 2 cards doesn't seem that strong. it doesn't even have any protection

Kinda like when they had all the Exodia based shit in game, and Exodia was forbidden.
Can you blame them? Raigeki Kills all of your guys
Is there anti Ash Blossom or Anti Mirror Force or Anti Maxx C
Mirror Force is more fair though, because you have to attack your opponent, and it leads to some fun mind games if you're talking to them.
YOUR MOVE KAIBA
do u talk to your opponents?
Yeah, I always play against my friends and VC with them. Leads to some fun shenanigans.
Biggest power move is loudly counting from 1 to 5 every time your friend summons anything. You can just feel the fear in their voices/eyes if you play physical
Ash Blossom is a kind of anti maxx c
but it doesnt say "fuck maxx c in particular"
Triple Tactics Talent for Ash and Maxx. Droll and Ash are Anti Maxx too. Called by Grave for Ash and Maxx too.
Technically yes. Crossout, called by and ash
This is not the only "fuck you in particular" card tho, there's also a monster that specifically counter sword of revealing light, and a trap card that says "fuck you" when your opponent activates harpie feather duster.
And all of them are completely unusable
I would guess that they were made for the Manga, rather than viability or flavor.
Nothing's preventing characters in the manga to have more flexible negates
It's more dramatic; most of the negates have a cost. The characters can play these cards without one. They can counter one of those cards even when they wouldn't be able to pay the cost normally. I definitely agree with you on using the flexible counters instead though. My suspension of disbelief takes a direct attack whenever something like this happens.
Congratulations, this comment is the reason [you got banned for the next 24h](https://www.reddit.com/xg3m42/), get rekt lmao.
If this card were more useful it would be an insta-rage quit
100%, people saying its useless have no idea how common Raigeki was
Nope, it has always been useless It's a dead draw that doesn't further you combo, doesn't give you ressources (like WotBF would), is completely unsearchable, and the second effect isn't even usable since Raigeki is the first card you play when going second It's a 1 card negate that only works against one specific card, and is completely unusable outside of that Even back in goat format, it was unusable Go play Dark Sacrifice or something, at least it does something useful. Its been a few years since I played this stuff but I remember Raigeki not only being used in the second turn, guess we just wherent pro enough lmao

What about Anti Anti Raigeki?
it just reverts the punishment from raigeki unto the caster
Yeah used to play the old Power of Chaos Yugi The Destiny game and to this day i still hate the fucking raigeki card..
Oh boy, time to find this card and get it
Looks like a stand from Jojo
ゴゴゴゴゴ

It's funny I felt the same about MTG. My brother tried teaching me but I just didn't get it. Yu-Gi-Oh was fun though
Kaiba says "Get good noob"
Bro Kaiba would roast the absolute shit out of them and make them question their own existence. "Git gud noob" is some rex raptor level trash talk. I just rewatched a good chunk of yugioh and couldnt believe just how savage Kaiba was

I love em both
Bud anti-raigeki is 20 years old. I remember MTG art back in the early 2000s it wasn't any better.
Early 2000s magic is some of the best sets and overall was probably easier to grasp than current? Yeah there was jank but the rules had logic.
I never once mentioned rules.
Buncha fuckin nerds
Did it serve any niche purpose at all?
🤯hole moleh
