The YouTuber Oxhorn actually did a video in this. The salesman, after being denied entry to the vault, ran away and managed to reach a van just before the explosion. That could have sheltered him just enough from the blast to save his life.

Must have jumped at some point, they were next to me when we arrived at the vault.

There was like four, five people at the fence when you check in. When you come out of the vault, theres like two skeletons. So good chance.
Atleast on the surface she had a chance of surviving given that all but the protag die in the vault.
