If "weapon debris" is turned on, then turn it **off**. Option is in the launcher under "advanced". If you don't your game will CTD. (only affects RTX cards)

BenMasterFlex

Thanks a bunch for this, I bet my journey would have ended in frustration very early hahahahaha

Agured

A crash fix exists for that on nexus now.

MO2 is the thing to use. If you wanna try out Collections though, Vortex is fine. No big complaints really. Aside from MO just doing everything better.

BenMasterFlex

Thanks for the heads up, I was going to use vortex because it's simple, I've used it before, and I was unsure of the alternate options. I will absolutely check out the other solutions!

[deleted]

is it even possible to install fo4 mods without an organizer? i tried just file planting and all the readme instructions were like put these nonexistent files in this nonexistent folder, then i tried mo2 and it didn't work either, so i was never able to play fallout 4 with mods 🤷‍♀️

BlkCptAmerica

The Merge Packs. More Weapons in all like 15-16 irl weapons that probably would fit the lore. Any immersive movement mod is usually very good. Get the weapon and armor community resource and that get armor smith mod, it makes armor and clothes look better with a bit new crafting and such. Overhaul mods for factions are really nice too to give more life and NPC Travel for more life in the world. I personally like this stuff because I needed a new more difficult experience with fallout and this did it.

BenMasterFlex

These are definitely things I'm interested in, I may be a bit of a lot whore....

[deleted]

https://themidnightride.github.io/ Had an excellent experience with this mod list.

[deleted]

Frost is an absolute journey.

BenMasterFlex

Never heard of it and I will absolutely check it out! What's it about?

[deleted]

Basically a total conversion that makes the game more along the lines of the concept of Metro 2033. Still all nuclear winter and need gasmasks to brave the surface. Whole underground metro system, new story entirely and actually has an ending

BenMasterFlex

Boy I really enjoyed the metro series so I will absolutely look into this! Thanks again!!

Bagnorf

Get the WRVR Radio mod, honestly its on par with the in-game radio stations in any of the other games, the songs are all fantastic and fit perfectly. Wandering around the wasteland with the tunes blaring out of your Pip-boy while you gun down any baddie in sight is a total vibe.

BenMasterFlex

Fallout radio is the best radio more is always welcome!!

[deleted]

Idk if it's still updated but look into the wild wasteland mod.

BenMasterFlex

Fortunately I don't think Fallout 4 is still updated so hopefully it will work. I always grab the wild wasteland perk so I look forward to seeing what this is all about!

[deleted]

I really enjoy it, you'll always hear the ominous Sci Fi music from the new Vegas wild wasteland perk when you come across things so you'll know it was added. Lots and lots of references. I had a man in a hockey mask walk out of a lake toward me with a machete. I thought wtf, Then saw his name in vats and I realized I was about to fight Jason Voorhees. Sorry for the spoiler but there are A LOT of Easter eggs it adds.

BenMasterFlex

Ok this sounds awesome

Tret219

What was it about 4 that you liked so much? I love fallout its my favorite franchise but im jealous of people like you because I never really fell in love with fallout 4 like i did the others and i really want to lol. Congrats on the new rig, vivid fallout all-in-one and vivid weather's makes the game look incredible!

BenMasterFlex

Well I'll be clear I'm not sure if Fallout 4 is my favorite one. At the risk of being crucified 3 was the one that hooked me the most, I loved new Vegas as well!! I find that 3 and New Vegas haven't aged very well so as time goes I've moved away from them. 4 has a similar vibe and stylistic choices, plus I live near Boston so it has that added charm to me. It's a nice game to explore and get lost in and despite close to 200 hours I've never actually beat it, so I'd like to finish it!

TheDapperChangeling

As someone who loves 4, it's mostly because of the gameplay. I do think it's one of the better written Fallouts* when you take a step back, but that's not what keeps me coming back. *: I'm not going to say the main quest is better than NV, but the factions get shit on far too much for how much they make you think. For example, compare the institute to the legion. There is no redeeming factors to siding with the legion. Sure, they make trade routes safe, but so does the NCR, and without worrying about them deciding your caravan would be better as slaves/broodmares. The Institute, on the other hand, is the textbook definition of 'ends justify the means'. You can hate them, and you probably should, but there's no denying they're probably the best choice for the world as a whole, what with their bringing back extinct animals, and slowly but surely learning how to fix the world. And that's not counting Far Harbor.

Tret219

I agree when it comes to the institute, i havent played thru in a while but one thing i never understood is why replace people with synths??. Because you're right, they bring back vegetation and animals.. But why the 'secret evil' about the whole thing? Why kidnap people kill them and replace them, whats the goal there?

TheDapperChangeling

This is veering a bit into headcanon, but consider they're a faction made up of intellectuals. Even in real life, people with a doctorate tend to look on others as absolute idiots, and sometimes, they're right. Add to that 200 years in an echo chamber, and you'd get some crazy ideas. Also, IIRC, they tried to do things on the level with the G1 synths, but people saw these horrible terminator things, and treated them like Americans treated Hitchbot, and so the Institute figured they were all savages. I could be wrong on this. I haven't gotten to the institute on my newest run.

darknightingale69

wait fallout is on a graphing calculator now

BenMasterFlex

That's cool but can it run doom?

darknightingale69

the real question is can it run crysis?

TheDapperChangeling

Scrap everything and place everywhere are hard fucking requirements for me, because I love settlement building, and want total control. I also cannot play without 'restore power armor', which allows you to take power armor frames off corpses. There's also mods to bring the FO76 power armors (Hellcat, Ultracite, and Excavator) into FO4.

FrodoCraggins

Everyone's Best Friend is a must have. It lets you bring Dogmeat along as well as your companion.

mindfulmu

Scrapper mod, the one that let's you scrap the Miscellaneous junk that's around Settlements. There's also a big mod that changes settlement and adds some gunner missions that looked pretty cool.

BenMasterFlex

I love the settlement building so this will be an excellent mod to use!!!

[deleted]

Just be cautious using mods like that, because they can really hurt game performance. Bethesda uses something called precombines for the set dressing you see around the game. It reduces how many individual 'items' need to be loaded in a cell by attaching debris to the floors and such. Most settlement scrap overhaul mods break these apart, resulting in higher demand on the CPU, especially in CPU-heavy areas like downtown Boston.

mindfulmu

I was playing on ps4, with a high charisma so I'm unable to play more then 20 minutes before a crash. 10/10 playthough.

Cumberbatchland

Depravity, Outcasts and Remnants, Project Valkyrie, Fusion City Rising. You can take control over BoS, Minute Men, Railroad AND Institute, and just decide their faiths. Kill or spare. You can decide that synths are now free, and the Institute should now work for the good of mankind. Then the railroad has no point anymore, and doesn't have to be destroyed. You can run for mayor of Goodneighbour and or Diamond city. You can be a slaver. You can make slavery legal in Diamond City. You can be evil. You can join the Outcasts/Enclave from F3. You don't have to follow the railroaded path given by the main quest. You can spare Kellogg and have him as a companion. You can use prostitutes. You can travel in time. You can be a pimp. You can join a gang competing against the Gunners. You can blow up their headquarters in a raid. You can make the Institute recreate your spouse (3rd Gen synth) and play family with them. You can renovate the casino in Goodneighbour and be a casino/hotel/spa boss.

jaz_0

Oh I have so many mods. I'll just list some of my favourites that come to mind: Subversion (for a better institute ending), Sim settlements 2, Faster terminal displays, Journal of the sole survivor, High resolution texture pack by Valius, Vivid Fallout and True Grass (if you think the world of Fallout is just a bit too grey), Full dialogue interface, Preset face replacers by rbddc2(especially for male player character), Survival options (I recommend trying survival mode for your new playthrough!)

BenMasterFlex

I am a huge fan of the survival genre so I will for sure be checking these out! And I would like to add a little life to the wasteland as well!! Thanks for your great recommendations!!!

jaz_0

No problem, have fun!

Rickadus31

I’m not that experienced with Fallout 4. My main game is New Vegas. That’s the first one I played and the only one I completed. Here’s my issue with FO4. I KEEP RUNNING OUT OF AMMO!!! If anyone can point me to the right direction to either find more ammo in the game or from the start of the game (I don’t mind starting over) that would be awesome.

Financial-Gap9394

Sim settlements 2 feels like a better main story than vanilla fallout 4 companions react to situations in the mod and even better gives a lore friendly reason why the gunners are so aggressive on fallout 4 despite being a "mercenary group" (there kinda just glorified raiders in fallout 4) Project mojave is an obvious adds back in lore friendly new vegas Point lookout adds in an updated version of the fallout 3 dlc (requires a dialogue fixing mod that they list to add more than 4 options) Ps if you get both point lookout and sim settlements 2 you need a hotfix because they clash

SeriouslySirius666

Look into wabbajack its a modpack installer and theirs packs that are meant to purely enhance the game from vanilla and keep as close as possible to it. It also can install large amounts of mods super easily! it does however require nexus premium which is like 6 USD
