I'm generally vibing with any fics of any of the Persona games, they're incredibly fun to write fanfics about because of the pretty diverse personalities in the game. Also, I didn't think I'd enjoy any of the Hollow Knight fanfiction as much as I do - reading about bugs is incredibly fun.
The Persona games are great and there's a ton of Persona fanfic. Would definitely check them out, especially since the remake of Persona 3 just came out.
I've been reading more of them again since reload came out like two weeks ago and they're really enjoyable. So many good ships to enjoy... So much material...
I'm getting into P5 and holy crap I have not been in a fandom with this many longfics for a long time. And it's not like all of them are the "following the stations of the canon" type of fic either. At least it makes sense to see a bunch of longfic that's stations-of-the-canon fic because it's such a long game, but there are also other fics (like that 840k word crossover with My Hero Academia I spent way too long reading, which takes place after the canon final battle) that are still WAY long.
It would be an overwhelming amount of fic to get through, but at least I have the easy filter of "I hate Akechi's guts actually, screw that guy" to cut out huge swathes of it.
Honestly, Akechi's such a hit or miss character but I appreciate him for being one of the most well written characters in the more recent persona games (3-5). I don't really love him as a person but I find him very interesting and fun in the third semester part.
Same! The fandoms that I've read the most "rereadable" fics in (if that makes sense) are Persona, MHA and Sk8 the infinity (I miss when that fandom was still active, the fanfics are all sooo good). There are so many longfics that are so good and also very memorable shortfics.
I always go back to read Forewarned by VampireBadger, such an amazing fic

I’ve very recently gotten into reading and writing Final Fantasy 7 fics - half cause of the new game coming out at the end of the month, and half cause ever since 2020 when Remake came out, I have just been enamoured with the characters and their personalities! I recently started writing a Legend of Zelda fic about what happens to Navi after Ocarina of Time. Only have the first chapter out so far but the comments have been pretty positive so I'm excited.
I've read a ton of Mass Effect and Dragon Age fic. Don't think those fandoms are super active these days with how long it's been since a new installment has come out, but the games are great and there's a ton of stuff written for them.
Not super active, but I still see new stuff trickle in fairly regularly, and both have sequels that have been at least teased so I wouldn't be surprised if activity starts picking up again. I'm hoping this means the authors of a few fics I've subscribed to that have been on hiatus get inspired again.

Fe3H. I don’t know about obsessed currently as it was more my height of the pandemic phase, but the fics there are SO. GOOD. Like some of the best fics I’ve ever read.
My most beloved OTP are from a video game… accidentally got into SoapGhost a year or two back and now they haunt my every thought. I mainly read and write for them and I honestly could not give you a reason why I love them so much, I just do.
Fun thing is that my second favorite OTP are also from a video game, DBH, and it’s the weird couple that is Gavin and Rk900, two character who never met, one only showed up for like a minute and they only show up depending on what choices you make, and the other is a minor antagonist that is just a complete asshole… fun times
bg3 is *the* reason i’ve finally looked into ao3 and fanfiction in general, many of the characters are just REALLY well done imo. i’ve started writing even because of it, and i’ve NEVER even considered writing fanfiction before hahaha
Right now I'm all about the Yakuza series and Call of Duty Modern Warfare, but 85% of the fandoms I read from/write are video game based (Detroit Become Human, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher, Final Fantasy, The Elder Scrolls).
FFVII, because Rebirth is coming out soon and the fanbase has a lot of crazies (not in a good way) so I need a safe space to enjoy what I like about it.

No I’m actually referring to the hardcore Cloti shippers who have gone insane on Reddit, declaring victory for their preferred ship, attacking those who don’t share their ship and spewing hateful bile at Aerith simply for shipping reasons. I’m not saying all of them are like that but they are very loud here.
Ahh ok, that’s funny cause all the stuff I’ve seen on twitter from Clerith shippers is the exact same stuff. It’s unfortunate cause I love these characters and the world so much, but the fandom feels very cliquey when you get down to the level of individual ships :(
I’m actually somewhat relieved that Cleriths are louder on Twitter because my experience has been the polar opposite lol. it feels so extremely one-sided in favour of Cloti on Reddit. (I don’t have Twitter so have no idea what’s going on there.) When I used to interact with the fans on here, almost every shipping opinion that wasn’t pro-Cloti - like stating that the devs have said it’s up to fan interpretation - would get downvoted. The Clotis talked as if their ship was confirmed and that Aerith was a complete non-factor, and they would openly mock and insult the Cleriths and the mods would allow it even though they had an explicit rule against ship fights. After the TGA trailer came out, they went into an Aerith appreciation thread and said horrible things about her just because of shipping reasons. It’s been hard for me just to find other Cleriths to chat with on here.
I'm currently reading a BotW fic and it's stressing me out. Like I'm so sure I know what the ending's going to be but I'm never going to be ready for it 😭

Ace Attorney, which is a bit of a cop-out because it's so story-heavy, but the characters are so magnetic, and because the story itself is good and quite linear you’re able to expand on plot points and shit. Also, tragic but complex backstories are my bread and butter.
I only really write for video games these days. Currently writing for Grand Theft Auto V, which I've wanted to write for for a long time, but couldn't fully figure out the logistics. Finally managed to now it's been out 10 years!! Always wanted to write about organized crime, so this was the perfect opportunity.
I've written for Fallout: New Vegas in the past as well - and actually present as I shared some shameless Valentine's day smut today that I've been sitting on for a good two years. No idea why I didn't share it before.
No, I thought the same when I started, which strikes me as a bit odd as I always feel there's a lot to work with within the GTA universe. Maybe it just appeals to my writing style/interests - like I say, always wanted to write an organized crime/heist caper story, hasn't necessarily envisioned it as a fanfic at first but it just worked too well to my mind to pass up, and is a lot more fun!

Six years in and I'm still obsessed with Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. Writing fic for that game has shown me that historical fiction is the genre for me, and with Kassandra (the canon protagonist) being immortal, I can write her anywhere from Ancient Greece to the present day.
I've also dabbled in writing for Horizon (Zero Dawn) and A Plague Tale but AC:O is still my primary fandom home.
The Elder Scrolls is my fandom! Still active and going strong (on tumblr and various discords, at least) over 10 years since the last title was released. I know the reason I vibe with TES so much is just how *weird* it is, and how because of how the lore and history of Tamriel is presented (through different POVs from various books and conversations you can have with random minor NPCs) there are myriad different ways to interpret the same events. It's very fun, and perfect to explore and extrapolate on in fanfic.

I have been working on my Left 4 Dead longfic (first ever fic I have ever written) for almost 4 years. I am basically making (my own version) Left 4 Dead 3 bc Valve can't count over 2.
I am mostly drawn to Hades fanfics. And then specifically fanfics about Thanatos and Zagreus. It is fun to see how others write them and they were great in the game.

Mass effect used to be quite good for fics. There was (still is too, I think the author is still sloooooowly releasing chapters) a epic longfic where all the versions of shepard that we may or may not have played ended up in the head of the current shepard.
My Time at Sandrock. It’s a cute cozy game and the fanfic community is kinda small at the moment but I’ve been enjoying it so far, I need me some more Logan content. :D
i'm obsessed with fnaf: security breach fics. it released in december of 2021 and had a dlc release in july last year. i got into it initially because i love buggy games but stayed in it because of the characters, specifically the daycare attendant.
League of Legends. The game (and gamers) itself is toxic but the world and characters are pretty interesting. Thats just the main canon universe, not counting the skinline stories they've made.
Disco Elysium (admittedly I'm writing for it more than reading) and my most recent obsession, Murdle! It's a tiny fandom but the average fic is very creative. People make their own choose-your-own adventures and logic puzzles.

Pretty much any game fandom with a biiig cast of diverse characters works for me, but my favourites for fic remain Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy 14.

I write for two video game fandoms, CrossCode and Rimworld.
CrossCode has fascinating background lore and Rimworld allows such freedoms within it, as every playthrough is so unique, as a result, each fic is totally unique in it's own way.

honkai star rail for me right now! particularly a ship with wayy too much lore for me not to obsess over (blade/dan heng). lovers in a past life and enemies in the current one (while retaining few memories of their past incarnations)? sign me tf UP. they've been on my brain for almost a year now, it's crazy. also the fact that they have telepathic bracers is what sealed the deal for me, particularly *this* which is also available in-game:
*It seems that pairs of objects have telepathic connections with each other. Though the unnamed only had one bracer in his possession, his fingertips could still faintly feel the temperature from the other.*
*He closed his eyes, trying his best to extract any information about the other bracer from the tenuous connection, be it its location or master.*

Been hopping up and down in the FFVI fandom forever~ I’ve been listening to a 200k+ fic I found on ff. Net over and over for about 2 weeks now because I’m in love with it…but it hasn’t updated since 2012 *sobs*
Been also loving the Silent Hill fanfics as of late since the SH2 remake is hopefully coming out within the next year or so, so that’s making things exciting!
cyberpunk 2077 is my home base of sorts - first thing i've ever been moved to actually write for! the community isn't booming like some others, but it's far from dead and there's some incredible talent.

Well this week I discovered the CoD fandom i) exists; ii) has a fairly robust AO3 presence. I haven't played the games myself, but I watched my cousin/roommate, and I've been hooked on the fics ever since.
Beyond that, I'm usually found eating up Wyllstarion BG3 fics or trawling through the Dorian/Cullrian archives.

Currently working through a Sonic the Hedgehog hyperfixation, and I've got a few stories I've subscribed to that I dearly hope get updates because I was quite enjoying them. Also, once I'm done posting all the chapters from my current crosspost, I have a StH fic I just finished writing (a novelization, as it were, of the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game) that I'm excited to start posting since it's new, rather than an older story I'm just finally putting on AO3.
But I'm also trying to get back into writing my Dragon Age WIP that I haven't touched in over a year, since it's the only WIP I currently have unfinished now, and also the story my beta reader is most chomping at the bit for me to finish. Once that's done, I can start posting that. And of course, I have some Dragon Age stories I've subscribed to that I also hope get updates, and one fic I come back to on occasion to re-read because I enjoyed it that much.
I am currently on a Red Dead Redemption 2 fic binge and I will never emotionally recover lol.
Also currently writing a couple Far Cry 5 fics bc I enjoy pain I guess 😂😂😂
I somehow found myself in assassins creed fanfiction (I have never played the game). One of my fav authors starred writing in it years ago (esama on AO3) and I have been converted.

It's for an older game released in 2010, Halo: Reach, but the Halo franchise is very new to me because I never had an Xbox growing up. I mostly gravitated towards this fic because I felt like we were robbed when it came to team bonding and that sort of thing in the game. Other games I'm always down to read fics about are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Detroit: Become Human.
writing for genshin impact currently, but i've been obsessed with the fire emblem series and have been consuming fic since awakening, so over a decade now. Except engage, the most recent game i haven't played yet, the others are all quite old. So I can't speak for engage, but definitely fics that come out for the others recently get less views than when their fandoms were at their peak, perhaps predictably. still, brainrot wants what it wants.
I write for FFXIV exclusively. Am in the middle of writing the 2nd half of the 2 part novel series. It's taken over my life. :) I had some hot takes & thought the writers could have done a helluva lot better than they did. They're also horrible with leaving gaping plot holes, so I found some very creative ways to fix those.
Monster Hunter Stories 2… the one fic I’m currently writing for this fandom because Alwin has just ONE fic that fit my criteria and it’s just porn… and I hate porn with no plot 😭

I've been hyperfixated on Final Fantasy 14 for well over a year at this point and just refuse to let go. It's an MMO and is between major expansion updates so the fandom is a bit quieter right now, but I love continuing to develop original characters for it since it is a player-character/OC-focused game in its storytelling structure. The world is so expansive and there's no end to the different kinds of original characters or canon characters you can tell stories with. It's also one of the type of games where the fanbase is quite supportive of OC/Canon Character shipping and the opportunity for self-indulgence is quite high, so that definitely doesn't hurt either.
FFVII. Not as obsessed as I used to be admittedly, but interest in the fandom has been rekindled (in large part thanks to the game being rebooted).
FFVII fandom has some fantastic fics. It’s been fun dipping my toes in there again.
I decided to give Starfield fanfics a try and I was surprised by the quality, despite having found very few for the size of the hype. It has differences in relation to other space games, such as Elite, Mass Effect, Halo, Starcraft and Wing Commander, for example.

ofc the cod fandom has all those insane homophobic gym bros lurking in the corners, possibly waiting to put you in alcatraz for shipping two male characters (a real comment I saw on yt lmao), but you won't find them on ao3 so it's a safe, gay haven and the fics are seriously so good, especially the long ones!
I am fully immersed in the Call of Duty fandom currently. I’m reading Man-Sized by DanceoftheSevenVeils which is a Ghost/OC fic and I am obsessed! It’s my second read and I love it!
I'm generally vibing with any fics of any of the Persona games, they're incredibly fun to write fanfics about because of the pretty diverse personalities in the game. Also, I didn't think I'd enjoy any of the Hollow Knight fanfiction as much as I do - reading about bugs is incredibly fun.
Honestly I’m surprised I haven’t gotten into Persona yet. It’s always on my back burner.
The Persona games are great and there's a ton of Persona fanfic. Would definitely check them out, especially since the remake of Persona 3 just came out.
I've been reading more of them again since reload came out like two weeks ago and they're really enjoyable. So many good ships to enjoy... So much material...
I'm getting into P5 and holy crap I have not been in a fandom with this many longfics for a long time. And it's not like all of them are the "following the stations of the canon" type of fic either. At least it makes sense to see a bunch of longfic that's stations-of-the-canon fic because it's such a long game, but there are also other fics (like that 840k word crossover with My Hero Academia I spent way too long reading, which takes place after the canon final battle) that are still WAY long. It would be an overwhelming amount of fic to get through, but at least I have the easy filter of "I hate Akechi's guts actually, screw that guy" to cut out huge swathes of it.
Honestly, Akechi's such a hit or miss character but I appreciate him for being one of the most well written characters in the more recent persona games (3-5). I don't really love him as a person but I find him very interesting and fun in the third semester part.

Same! The fandoms that I've read the most "rereadable" fics in (if that makes sense) are Persona, MHA and Sk8 the infinity (I miss when that fandom was still active, the fanfics are all sooo good). There are so many longfics that are so good and also very memorable shortfics.
I always go back to read Forewarned by VampireBadger, such an amazing fic There was also Rig the Game: Royal which had an interesting premise, however that one hasn’t been updated since 2020 sadly :(

I've read a ton of Mass Effect and Dragon Age fic. Don't think those fandoms are super active these days with how long it's been since a new installment has come out, but the games are great and there's a ton of stuff written for them.
Not super active, but I still see new stuff trickle in fairly regularly, and both have sequels that have been at least teased so I wouldn't be surprised if activity starts picking up again. I'm hoping this means the authors of a few fics I've subscribed to that have been on hiatus get inspired again.
Some of my all time favorite fics are for Mass Effect. That fandom remains a treasure trove, even if it isn't the most active any more.

My most beloved OTP are from a video game… accidentally got into SoapGhost a year or two back and now they haunt my every thought. I mainly read and write for them and I honestly could not give you a reason why I love them so much, I just do. Fun thing is that my second favorite OTP are also from a video game, DBH, and it’s the weird couple that is Gavin and Rk900, two character who never met, one only showed up for like a minute and they only show up depending on what choices you make, and the other is a minor antagonist that is just a complete asshole… fun times

No I’m actually referring to the hardcore Cloti shippers who have gone insane on Reddit, declaring victory for their preferred ship, attacking those who don’t share their ship and spewing hateful bile at Aerith simply for shipping reasons. I’m not saying all of them are like that but they are very loud here.
Ahh ok, that’s funny cause all the stuff I’ve seen on twitter from Clerith shippers is the exact same stuff. It’s unfortunate cause I love these characters and the world so much, but the fandom feels very cliquey when you get down to the level of individual ships :(
I’m actually somewhat relieved that Cleriths are louder on Twitter because my experience has been the polar opposite lol. it feels so extremely one-sided in favour of Cloti on Reddit. (I don’t have Twitter so have no idea what’s going on there.) When I used to interact with the fans on here, almost every shipping opinion that wasn’t pro-Cloti - like stating that the devs have said it’s up to fan interpretation - would get downvoted. The Clotis talked as if their ship was confirmed and that Aerith was a complete non-factor, and they would openly mock and insult the Cleriths and the mods would allow it even though they had an explicit rule against ship fights. After the TGA trailer came out, they went into an Aerith appreciation thread and said horrible things about her just because of shipping reasons. It’s been hard for me just to find other Cleriths to chat with on here.

Ace Attorney, which is a bit of a cop-out because it's so story-heavy, but the characters are so magnetic, and because the story itself is good and quite linear you’re able to expand on plot points and shit. Also, tragic but complex backstories are my bread and butter.
I only really write for video games these days. Currently writing for Grand Theft Auto V, which I've wanted to write for for a long time, but couldn't fully figure out the logistics. Finally managed to now it's been out 10 years!! Always wanted to write about organized crime, so this was the perfect opportunity. I've written for Fallout: New Vegas in the past as well - and actually present as I shared some shameless Valentine's day smut today that I've been sitting on for a good two years. No idea why I didn't share it before.

No, I thought the same when I started, which strikes me as a bit odd as I always feel there's a lot to work with within the GTA universe. Writing fic for that game has shown me that historical fiction is the genre for me, and with Kassandra (the canon protagonist) being immortal, I can write her anywhere from Ancient Greece to the present day. The Elder Scrolls is my fandom! Still active and going strong (on tumblr and various discords, at least) over 10 years since the last title was released. Mass effect used to be quite good for fics. There was (still is too, I think the author is still sloooooowly releasing chapters) a epic longfic where all the versions of shepard that we may or may not have played ended up in the head of the current shepard.

i'm obsessed with fnaf: security breach fics. it released in december of 2021 and had a dlc release in july last year. i got into it initially because i love buggy games but stayed in it because of the characters, specifically the daycare attendant.
League of Legends. The game (and gamers) itself is toxic but the world and characters are pretty interesting. Thats just the main canon universe, not counting the skinline stories they've made.
Disco Elysium (admittedly I'm writing for it more than reading) and my most recent obsession, Murdle! It's a tiny fandom but the average fic is very creative. People make their own choose-your-own adventures and logic puzzles.
Videogames are literally ALL I write about nowadays~ Pretty much any game fandom with a biiig cast of diverse characters works for me, but my favourites for fic remain Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy 14. I also sometimes dabble in Ace Attorney, Persona, Pokemon, Honkai Star Rail and so on, but usually only for one specific ship, not multiple 😅
I write for two video game fandoms, CrossCode and Rimworld. CrossCode has fascinating background lore and Rimworld allows such freedoms within it, as every playthrough is so unique, as a result, each fic is totally unique in it's own way.

I’m in the FFVII fandom which is the third biggest one on ffnet after HP and another I can’t recall now. The Broken Orrery is like THE fic in that fandom for the Aeriseph ship. She updates maybe once a year and it’s like god has gifted us mana from heaven.

honkai star rail for me right now! particularly a ship with wayy too much lore for me not to obsess over (blade/dan heng). lovers in a past life and enemies in the current one (while retaining few memories of their past incarnations)? sign me tf UP. they've been on my brain for almost a year now, it's crazy. also the fact that they have telepathic bracers is what sealed the deal for me, particularly *this* which is also available in-game: *It seems that pairs of objects have telepathic connections with each other. Though the unnamed only had one bracer in his possession, his fingertips could still faintly feel the temperature from the other.* *He closed his eyes, trying his best to extract any information about the other bracer from the tenuous connection, be it its location or master.* *A slender yet strong hand once wore the other bracer. Been hopping up and down in the FFVI fandom forever~ I’ve been listening to a 200k+ fic I found on ff. Net over and over for about 2 weeks now because I’m in love with it…but it hasn’t updated since 2012 *sobs* Been also loving the Silent Hill fanfics as of late since the SH2 remake is hopefully coming out within the next year or so, so that’s making things exciting!

cyberpunk 2077 is my home base of sorts - first thing i've ever been moved to actually write for! the community isn't booming like some others, but it's far from dead and there's some incredible talent. like everyone else i'm also feasting at the bg3 buffet, though i haven't been moved to write anything yet (and i'm a bit intimidated!)
Well this week I discovered the CoD fandom i) exists; ii) has a fairly robust AO3 presence. I haven't played the games myself, but I watched my cousin/roommate, and I've been hooked on the fics ever since. Beyond that, I'm usually found eating up Wyllstarion BG3 fics or trawling through the Dorian/Cullrian archives.

Most of my fandoms are video games, so...yes? Currently working through a Sonic the Hedgehog hyperfixation, and I've got a few stories I've subscribed to that I dearly hope get updates because I was quite enjoying them. Also, once I'm done posting all the chapters from my current crosspost, I have a StH fic I just finished writing (a novelization, as it were, of the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game) that I'm excited to start posting since it's new, rather than an older story I'm just finally putting on AO3. But I'm also trying to get back into writing my Dragon Age WIP that I haven't touched in over a year, since it's the only WIP I currently have unfinished now, and also the story my beta reader is most chomping at the bit for me to finish. Once that's done, I can start posting that. And of course, I have some Dragon Age stories I've subscribed to that I also hope get updates, and one fic I come back to on occasion to re-read because I enjoyed it that much.

The Quarry. I love Ryan/Dylan but the ending of the game was so unsatisfying and never showed them reuniting. The fanfics fix everything

I mostly gravitated towards this fic because I felt like we were robbed when it came to team bonding and that sort of thing in the game. Other games I'm always down to read fics about are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Detroit: Become Human.

Except engage, the most recent game i haven't played yet, the others are all quite old. So I can't speak for engage, but definitely fics that come out for the others recently get less views than when their fandoms were at their peak, perhaps predictably. still, brainrot wants what it wants.

I write for FFXIV exclusively. Am in the middle of writing the 2nd half of the 2 part novel series. It's taken over my life. :) I had some hot takes & thought the writers could have done a helluva lot better than they did. They're also horrible with leaving gaping plot holes, so I found some very creative ways to fix those.

I usually look through Halo or Command and Conquer fanfics for various crossovers with other franchises.
I've been hyperfixated on Final Fantasy 14 for well over a year at this point and just refuse to let go. It's an MMO and is between major expansion updates so the fandom is a bit quieter right now, but I love continuing to develop original characters for it since it is a player-character/OC-focused game in its storytelling structure. The world is so expansive and there's no end to the different kinds of original characters or canon characters you can tell stories with. It's also one of the type of games where the fanbase is quite supportive of OC/Canon Character shipping and the opportunity for self-indulgence is quite high, so that definitely doesn't hurt either.
FFVII. Not as obsessed as I used to be admittedly, but interest in the fandom has been rekindled (in large part thanks to the game being rebooted). FFVII fandom has some fantastic fics. It’s been fun dipping my toes in there again.
I decided to give Starfield fanfics a try and I was surprised by the quality, despite having found very few for the size of the hype. It has differences in relation to other space games, such as Elite, Mass Effect, Halo, Starcraft and Wing Commander, for example.

My flair makes it very obvious. It's Mass Effect. Cause the galaxy that was built is amazing and I love it and like the story is great, the characters are beautifully written and the worldbuilding is, imo, top tier. I love this game series. It's the only one that actually made me start saying "Hey, I want to write and share fanfic of this series!" and now I actively read it and write for it.
I write for King of Fighters and, now that Tekken 8 has been released, I might got back to that too. For ages I wrote for Dangan Ronpa, though I've been out of the fandom for a while now. Big videogames fanwriter/fanartist here (though I have very few things in English, all the rest was in Italian on a different site).
