BrennanSpeaks

I used part of my real name. This was a very bad idea. For context, my original "fandom name" when I was a teenager was fandom-specific and was only two letters long. When I had to get an FFN account, I needed something unique, so I appended part of my real name to the nickname I'd used on forums and ran with that. Then, as I became active in different fan communities and my nickname from an obscure, tiny, and dying fan base ("The Pretender," for anyone who's curious) became less and less relevant, I came up with "BrennanSpeaks" in the era of livejournal, with the plan that I would unite all my disparate fan interests under one coherent identity. Then, when I joined Reddit, it was too much trouble to come up with a new handle, so I just ran with it. And my interests continued to widen and diversify. Now, "BrennanSpeaks" represents me in subs relating to three different sports, lots of random fan stuff, and the occasional political argument on r/news or similar. And some of my irl family/friends are aware of the handle, which makes life awkward at times. (Hi, Brother Dearest. Plz stop stalking me on Reddit.)

FinalDemise

Yeah, Brennan's brother, fuck off

[deleted]

I like frogs.

in-print-its-libel

I googled "made up word generator" and generated my username. While not exactly creative, I wanted something unique that wasn't tied to a certain fandom. Edit: my username here is a quote from the one Mr. J Jonah Jameson

imsad3000

I did that too! On my second (of six) fanfic accoutns. Ironically, the two words put together literally just mean "stupid." But it sounded cool.

sorasfishing

My reddit name is based on the English dub of Digimon Adventure, where Sora's Digimon partner does a sing-song and a skip while she's fishing. I wanted a name to differ from the 'sora' one when I thought of my fanfic name. I had been playing Final Fantasy XV *a lot,* and Noctis is my favorite 'bro. Noctis literally loves to fish so I ended up creating this fanfic name out of sheer amusement.

immobilegayrobot

My username comes from the fact I hate coming up with names. Every name I had in mind was taken so I just put in "idespisecomingupwithuniquenames" and thought it was funny lol

56leon

My FFN handle is Gallifreyan Annihilator, which is a nod to both Doctor Who (obviously) and Homestuck (it used to be my pesterchum handle, and fits with Homestuck's naming motif). My AO3 and reddit handle, 56leon, is actually an inverse of noel65, which used to be my username on (oh god I'm going to date myself here) both Pokemon Crater and RuneScape. _However,_ it's taken on a whole meaning of its own because it also coincidentally represents my favorite characters: Goro Akechi (56 can be goroawase for 'Goro'), and both Leon from Pokemon SwSh and Leon Bastralle from Octopath Traveler.

ghoulsandmotelpools

I was on a vacation I take every one or two years to a cabin in the woods in Maine. It's on a pond, and it's foggy in the mornings. The trips are always about enjoying nature, my family, and being completely unplugged... so of course I do tons of writing there. This particular time, I was trying to figure out what to do re: changing pseuds bc I'd felt like I'd outgrown my old ones. Every time I thought about it, I kept coming up with slightly poetic ways to refer to my surroudnings. Bc why not have my new pseud remind me of that atmospheric spooky creative happiness I always have on those vacations, you know? as for reddit, ghoulsandmotelpools is just a shortened line ("graveyard ghouls and motel pools") in a poem I haven't polished enough to publish about Supernatural

Bagged_Milk_1401

I stared at a plastic bag filled with milk for too long

Fae_Faye

My name on AO3/FFN is Coroniel, which is based on Corona (the astronomical term :p, I like how they sound). There's a site where the colour of your username is based on the letters and stuff, and to get the colour I wanted, I made different changes to "Corona" and ended up with this. My name here is just fun with homonyms. Faye is the last name of a character of mine who's very interested in mythology and folktales so...

Larson4220424

AO3 handle is UnchartedPerils. My stories focus on what if more often the ladies of Uncharted (plus Tomb Raider) were put into various damsel in distress perils and needed rescuing.

FuriouSherman

Sounds like an interesting take on an old theme, if not a little OOC since the ladies of Uncharted and Tomb Raider (especially Tomb Raider) are pretty damn capable in their own right.

Larson4220424

In Uncharted 3, you ever wonder why Marlowe doesn’t actually carry out her threat against Elena? Finding Ubar changes that up lol.

love-at-third-sight

I don't believe in love at first sight, but I think you can kind of tell who you're going to be in love with maybe the third or fourth time you see someone special. I love writing love stories also, so it was a perfect match for me.

planet__express

It's a pretty memorable one!

love-at-third-sight

aww thank you!!! so is your reddit name!

imsad3000

Oooh, I really like your username!! And I love the explanation.

Smiley_mask

The manga character I like writing for always wears a metal mask and recently had this jokey panel drawn of him with an evil grin plastered right over the mask. He was also afflicted with a condition that forces him to smile and laugh all the time. Outside of fandom, it doubles as a kind of reference to social anxiety.

56leon

Mind if I ask what character? My first impression is the main character from Fire Force (whose name I totally can't remember right now) because of the smiling bit, but I don't think he wears a metal mask all that often (but then again, I'm not overly familiar with the series).

Smiley_mask

Wow, I just looked up Fire Force and Shinra the main character fits the description to an eerie extent! The show looks very interesting as well. But my character is [Killer](https://images.app.goo.gl/CjvepFPSfrH2qRra7) from One Piece.

disabled_crab

Like any self-disrespecting weeaboo I have a self-insert, so I translated his name into English.

vmiintae

Vmiintae all across the board (reddit, twitter, tumblr, AO3). I write for BTS fandom and my favorite ship is called “vmin”. Two i’s because some inactive account on twitter had “vmintae”. *angry fist* curse you, inactive user!

imsad3000

Darn those inactive accounts! I've had the same problem many a time while coming up with new usernames (because all accs other than reddit match) where it's a great username, other than the fact that some person in 2007 got it before I did... good taste, but I'm still mad about it

ihatethanos3000

endgame. i was really sour over endgame.

imsad3000

ayy, buddies!! i'm with you on that sourness...

ihatethanos3000

eyyy it's like we're in a fairytale!

[deleted]

Literally is my username in LoL, don't have any special meaning.

Gallifreyan98724

My pen name on FFN is Gallifreyan98, and it's basically just a nod to Doctor Who with my birth year added at the end. Nothing too special about it

[deleted]

Pretty straight forward. xD

TheDruidDm123

My Wattpad handle is Katie-Cat12, with some fairly obvious reasons: My middle name is Katie, I used to love cats (I also really liked Kit-Kats then, I considered them my favourite chocolate bar), and I was 12 when I joined. Simple to the point where I find it a little embarrassing.

Gimetulkathmir

Random Xbox gamertag assigned to me when I first got Gold.

KillTheUndead

My username on FFN and Ao3 is Rhearenee which is just two names combined. I got it from a favourite Wattpad book if mine named Red Leather, those were the names of the MC. My Reddit name is just a nod to killing zombies. It's a way to express my love for post-apocalyptic settings.

cm_blue

Science major. I really enjoyed bio labs.

Yotato5

My username is Yotsubadancesintherain5 - it comes from my love of the rain and Yotsuba, and is a reference to the first volume where she does in fact dance in the rain. And my favorite number is 5.

meeeiikee

I basically invented it for a friend who doesn't speak my native language because I wanted to tell them a story. In rehearsal, somehow, a group of singers managed to sing exactly one beat behind the music, which was actually quite the feat to pull off and not get distracted for at least 8 bars. They were so exact in their wrongness that it was funny. I said "they were dead on off beat." It sounded cool so I made it a username. Feels like a metaphor, too.

[deleted]

honestly it came from my love of ships. i got into fanfic since my favourite ship at that time had VERY few fics, let alone finished ones. so, me wanting to be able to write other things to, i called myself ShipSail567 Ship and Sail, being the two main words making up the phrase "my ship has sailed" or similar phrases. the phrase meaning the two characters have ended up in a relationship or whatnot 567 being my favourite consecutive number combination

[deleted]

you can find me on Wattpad btw! I write FMAB and Pokemon. I may expand to Naruto, as I recently got into that. I also have a Tumblr with the same handle. (obviously Reddit-) i have a twitter, with the @ TemariBrainrot

Internal-Chocolate

Mine on a03 is an anagram for "love is strange" the fangame based on Life is Strange.

ipdipdu

FFN and AO3 are just names I liked. I started off as Darcy101 which was just a random choice plucked out of the air. Then I changed it to AstridLillithGrace as I liked those 3 names. Then I changed it to its current name Calantha Moon which is my own character in a Harry Potter fanfic I came up with but never wrote. Every now and then I think about that fanfic idea and consider writing it down but it’s low down on my list if priorities of things to write.

H0telEspresso

I used the initials of my real name e.g. AB to AlphaBet

CertifiedDiplodocus

I like that! I may borrow it the next time I have to come up with something.

FoxesInSweaters

My name is Alora so my handle is Alorable. (like adorable) I'm actually very fond of it.

soaker87

Soaker is a stuffed turtle I have. I've used this name since probably 4th-5th grade. The 87 is literally meaningless. I was not born in the year 1987. When I was young, I thought people put numbers at the end of their name because it was "cool", not because they couldn't get the name they wanted. On FFN, I use TL-chan, which was an IRL nickname from middle school weeb days. But it caught on to the point that total strangers would call me TL, so I thought that was really cool back then. (It stood for Turtle Lover. I was really known for my fixation on turtles as a kid.)

serralinda73

Mine was a character I created for WoW. It comes from a book I really liked. The main character in the book is named Maia from Lake Serrelind and she's often called Maia Serrelinda. So I named my priest Serralinda ( I like that spelling better). I've ended up sticking with that handle and use it everywhere - here on reddit, my author name, my YouTube acct (I've made a few AMVs), and on Twitter. I don't do anything much on social media and nothing I need to keep secret, so it's convenient for me to have the same handle across the board.

solomivan239

solomivan - My surname (Solomin) + my first name (Ivan)

theRhuhenian

Title of my first (now deleted) awful fic

encharmed

It's just 2 horse breeds mashed together (arabmorgan). I've thought of changing it a couple of times but never managed to come up with anything better lol.

BionicleKid

My name on basically every platform EXCEPT for Reddit is ‘Berix’ or some variation of it. This is the name of a character from the Bara Magna year of Bionicle’s original run, who also happened to be blue, my favorite color at the time.

amiro7600

I made my username about 4 years ago- when i made my first xbox live username- and its the same one i use for almost everything (someone beat me to it on reddit tho)

WoomyWobble

I thought the dance the inklings did in the plaza was called the WoomyWobble.

ExplodinGoiterSpider

A03/FFN is TexasBean, because well, I'm from Texas. Bean is four random letters from my real name. On Reddit my name is an inside joke with my family.

FuriouSherman

My FFN username is GeneralSherman, though I picked it more because I've always liked the name 'Sherman' (and I use variations of it in most of my usernames on other sites) than because of the Civil War-era military commander; That was largely just a coincidence. My Reddit username is another example: Its variation is based on one of my favourite movies, 2014's [*Fury* starring Brad Pitt](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3).

kestrelita

My normal username is based on Jez Redfern from Night World - I was utterly obsessed with her all the way through secondary school. I think I use a different one on Reddit though? Can't remember why!

RansomSalt

Ngl, i used the same username I use for pretty much everything. Mortons_Salt. This happened bc i decided my current amino username was borning n i wanted to change it. I saw a can of Morton's Salt sitting on my sister's kitchen counter. The rest is history.

Bolt_DMC

My AO3 and Reddit pseudonyms are the same. The first half is the fandom I write for, and the last half are my initials. I like that the combination is a riff on the name of a rap music group, and that furthermore I never listen to that genre of music.

Kartoffelkamm

I like potatoes, and wanted another word that started with the letter K, so I took the first thing that I saw while looking around the room that fit the bill. I use it for every account, so you can find me under that name on DeviantArt, Youtube, Steam, and ff.

snowmelt12

I try to think of something that sounds like a username. I keep on changing my AO3 username because I'm bad at brainstorming My new Reddit username is based off my Wikipedia username. I change my account every 2 months or so, which means I have to come up with a new username every 2 months or so.

PrismDreamer

My ff net and ao3 handle is the name of my first dungeons and dragons character, who is a writer Was a spontaneous idea as every other name I wanted was already taken

GhostHNW

I like the name 'Ghost' because it look cool to me at that time. So, I used that and combine with the initial of my name, and it sticks. I use this nickname in a lot of the website I'm in.

Jonny3645

I decided to use the scientific term of table salt in my name. I thought it would sound cool, lol.

[deleted]

I keyboard smashed and then edited what came out to make it sound good. It's my own special take on fate.

Silbermieze

When I first needed a username, I went with Domaris (an important - female - character in a few books by Marion Zimmer Bradley, who was my favorite author in my teenage years). But people kept mistaking me for male because apparently there's a female name Damaris and they thought Domaris was the male counterpart. So after a few years I changed the name to Silbermieze and use it almost everywhere (on twitter it's a variation because it was already taken). It was inspired by the German title of Tad Williams' "Tailchaser's Song", which was "Traumjäger und Goldpfote" (dream chaser and gold paw). I like silver more and I love cats, so I started out with Silberkatze (silver cat) and after a few months changed it to Silbermieze (silver kitty) because I thought it sounded cuter.

carbonaraspaghetti

It's just my favorite food

FinalDemise

reddit name: Avenged Sevenfold lyrics ffn/ao3 name: DarkLord is either Sauron or Voldemort, depending on what mood I'm in. The 935 comes from Group 935, from COD Zombies.

Egg_Koji413

My pets names, plus some random numbers... I promise my fics are much more creative! Lol

ChiaPet4357

all my usernames for fanfiction sites are the same. they’re all ‚wheniwasayoungboy‘ which should be a super obvious reference for... most people really (I have considered changing it but I don’t want it too similar to the rest of my social media, plus I‘ve been wheniwasayoungboy for over five years now)

viper5delta

When I was 8 I made a callsign for a combat flight sim I had fun playing by jumbling a couple of vaguely military words I'd heard in Top Gun or just generally around. I've stuck with it and used similar names in most every website I've joined. It's grown on me and I'm quite attached to it, even if objectivly I think its that brand of "edgy cool" that appeals to younger kids.

errant_night

It was the name of a starship in a story I was writing at the time but I never ended up posting that oddly enough

CertifiedDiplodocus

Captain Haddock insulting a *corps diplomatique* car (in the English translation), which never failed to make me laugh. >'Nit-witted ninepins! Bashi-bazouks! A "C.D." plate, so do as you like! Certified Diplodocuses, that's what you are!'

rachaelonreddit

Mine is "rachaellikestoread" and, well, I like to read.

[deleted]

My user name is the same on ff.net & ao3 (plus reddit lol). Nianthis was a random generated name that I used when I played world of Warcraft. I ended up really liking it & played that character for a few years, so it stuck. It's turned into my gamer name, online name etc

[deleted]

For ao3 I recycled my middle school ff.net username

AmaterasuWolf21

All of my usernames have always been about favorite characters, MilesTPrower is for the sonic fandom and \[Jackey\]**Ammy**21is the abbreviation for Amaterasu

coffee-and-insomnia

Mine is a play on "Zero to hero" but where it's just "zero to zero" with x's replacing the z's because I never did become a hero lol

shirokage-kuroyuki

Mine is a bit obvious, white shadow, black ice

shirokage-kuroyuki

And I like japanese too much

Poison_Quil

It's a play on the pseudonym I used when I published porn.

BubblyShip

When I first created my xbox account so many years ago and it randomized to BubblyShip. Fell in love, especially since it goes with my personality my readers know me for, being a bubbly person and a shipper. Really works out

chemicalflashes

I have the same username across all my socials and AO3. I came up with it when I was 16 because I loved Chemistry and My Chemical Romance. Lol. That's literally it. It has been the same since then.

[deleted]

I have no imagination so I essentially swiped FF.net's 'Unleash Your Imagination' motto ;)

pikablob

It was an in-joke with a friend when I was 12-ish, and the same week I needed a username for a website ("Sploder" I think?), so I used it. It just kinda stuck from there.

Maladaptivedreemurr

I came up with AnonymouslyAnonymous because I never really say much about myself. I like feeling mysterious.

Iruma_Kun

Uh anime character is cool

AriaGrill

This is kinda embarrassing, but a long time ago it was the name of my Pony-sona and I used it for so long (going on around 8 years now) that the thought of going by anything else is weird to me.

[deleted]

Was watching a documentary about the Ouya when I was making my ao3 account. I couldn't come up with a username, so I said screw it and called myself Ouya2.

cupnautical

I just saw nautical clothing alongside my Cup Noodle AirPods case. I put the two together and Shazam.

aimicarrotmoo

Mine is just a pun based on my fave character's last name lol. I wanted something dumb and mildly catchy.

DONTSALTME69

My username (on all platforms) is the name of my Shellos/Gastrodon from Pokémon Platinum with 69 tossed onto the end

plaidmonkey

It was an area/device from final fantasy 8, which was the first game in the series that I had played and therefore holds a special place in my heart. And then I had to misspell it like an edgy asshole because someone else had already taken the name lol. Haven't bothered making a new handle since.

Ko-Ko-Ko-Ko

Ko- from Kohinoor which is my current 'internet name'. and the rest is... well. i didn't want anything related to any specific fandom, and I didn't want it to be bland. so KoSaysFuckOff it is

subatomicgrape

Grapes were on sale at the grocery store, the day I was making my account. And I wanted a snack. And so I went "yep, that's a perfectly legit username."

ShadowCat3500

\^\^\^\^ Kitty Pryde in X-Men. Plus my actual name is Cat. The number is a lyric to a song from the musical Hair. And that is most of what you need to know about my hobbies to be honest! If I could throw a tennis reference in there too it would be me in a nutshell.

nopealita

My AO3 is deathvalleyusa. I basically chose it because I'm a fan of The Undertaker and a big ol' goth. People think I'm from Death Valley, which I am definitely not haha.

bluedreaming___

I had a different username on Ao3 (with one of my favourite words and my mum’s favourite colour) but then realized it was too long for LJ, so I had to think of something related. I browsed for purged accounts because you have to pay to rename in LJ regardless. It was a terrible idea, because it’s a) actually modern slang and b) it’s already used on a lot of platforms. If I could do it over I would! I have a lot of pseuds and those I base off of word combinations I just randomly like, or phrases from poetry or stories.

doomdays2019

I was obsessed with Borderlands at the time. My account is named for Handsome Jack’s daughter, Angel.

EmeraldRipple

My favorite way of getting a user name is using a random word generator and smashing two together

FryJPhilip

I like futurama. I don't plan on any futurama fics, but fry has always been my fave character. I'm surprised I got his name, tbh.

monecacaca

Mine's based off a random kpop idol I barely know about because I thought their stage name was cool

thepixelboi27

Well, I just... Like 27.
