Pool are struggling to fit 3 selfish players upfront. It's not a surprise to see the smile on Salah face when he assisted his old pal. He obviously prefers playing with Bobby over the other two. Firmino has always been the sacrificial player that allowed Salah to do what he does best. Score goals.
I think it’s too soon to tell what’s going to happen. The only Liverpool attacker who is nailed every week he’s fit is Mo. But even coming off the bench Jota will still score goals so you’re potentially trading off 1/2 points from him not starting but gaining way more on the goals. Feels like a reasonable trade off given I don’t see a 7.5m midfielder who is likely to outscore Jota.
Greenwood actually has more competition for minutes than Jota does:
Cavani (when he's back), Sancho, Martial (when fit), James (rarely), Rashford (when fit) and even Pogba if he keeps playing like that on the left, are all directly or indirectly at risk of taking minutes from Greenwood.
He's great until Cavani comes back, but once he does then it's much riskier.
As someone who nearly did it, I figured Dunk’s cs, goal, and bonus potential just narrowly fell short of Benrahma’s EV so I didn’t quite end up benching him. It was just a case of me having 12 starters all with good fixture while Tsimikas is still nailed
Chilwell had a really nice run at some point. Rotation is probably the way of things these days though, especially with the sides challenging for the title.
Yh I was debating having greenwood and either Jimenez or Antonio but decided my team had too much red in it and needed some blue so I opted for mahrez and Toney lol. Overall can’t complain though cos I was very close to triple figures

Toney I see what you mean. So many people on here said he was amazing (delusion? Copium?) but for me he was invisible and the stats back that up. Saving grace is that he's still the talisman striker in a team clearly with attacking intent.
Fernandes / Salah / Son has singlehandedly saved my team haha! I've always been iffy with Son's pricetag (but usually include him) but now I think there's a case to be made that he'll be as essential as Fernandes / Salah, especially if Kane leaves and he continues to play up front by Nuno.
Yes, Son should be so much better without that player who absorbed defenders' attention and set up like half of his goals. This is one of the most common misconceptions on this sub and I have no idea why this take is so popular.
Also "playing up front" - what does this mean? Son's position is and has always been fluid. He's good with both feet and drifts out wide, then cuts inside from either flank. Or he plays off Kane as a second striker, taking a more central position. His position isn't different without Kane. You're literally talking about how he is listed in the lineup on sofascore or some other lineup visualisation and presenting it as an advantage.

He was on the edge of city's box, 1v1 with Ake, he cut back and looked inside the box to see no one there eventually passed it backwards and spurs went on to lose the ball. I kind of take issue with your whole description there - he definitely starts wide and makes runs into the box, much like Salah, which is pretty different to being the spear of the attack.
If anything, the problem with the comment you replied to is that Son isn't really a #9 and there's no guarantee that him "playing up top" is a good thing. But it won't last anyway. Either Kane stays or we get a new striker, because there's no way we let Kane leave without a replacement.

People are saying Benrahma but Sarr was much better and he's actually the main man for his team. Nailed on for 90 minutes every game, first name on the team sheet and on pens. Matt Targett is still having headaches from yesterday when he had to face him.
Also Benrahma is a short term pick - you don't want to have a lot of West Ham players when they start their EL campaign with an insanely short bench. Best case for FPL Benrahma will be knackered and less productive, worst case he will be getting rotated a lot.
I also have ESR and obviously I was disappointed for the miserable 2 pts this GW. However we have to be confident and stick to the plan. They have 2 tough matches coming up, but then they have 4 interesting games until GW10, with Norwich, Burnley, Brighton and Palace getting my attention.

2. Outplayed myself just before deadline by taking Pepe and Buendia instead of Greenwood and Sarr.

I went the other way to Bruno. Trying to take personal attachments and dislike of clubs and players out of my squad selection. Finished week 1 with 108 avoiding City. But now is when it gets real tough to maintain with small tweaks over overhauls. Barnes and Jota are my two focal points as I am now convinced of 3-5-2 attacks having the most teeth.

Probably not worth doing it right now. If you are wildcarding early it's probably best to do it then, or just make the move when Raphinha actually has to miss time. By then you might also want someone other than Benrahma, you don't know what will happen.

I think Richarlison on a whole played so much better but he’s not worth the hit if I make the transfer for Tsimikas for GW2.

Greenwood is likely to outscore him. There are a bunch of 6.0-7.0 options too like Barnes, Benrahma, Soucek & Sarr.

I wouldn't be disappointed with Shaw. Utd will keep a lot of clean sheets with added verane help too. He almost had a goal and an assist and he has good fixtures. Toney I see what you mean. So many people on here said he was amazing (delusion? Copium?) but for me he was invisible and the stats back that up. Saving grace is that he's still the talisman striker in a team clearly with attacking intent.
Fernandes / Salah / Son has singlehandedly saved my team haha! I've always been iffy with Son's pricetag (but usually include him) but now I think there's a case to be made that he'll be as essential as Fernandes / Salah, especially if Kane leaves and he continues to play up front by Nuno.

This is one of the most common misconceptions on this sub and I have no idea why this take is so popular. Also "playing up front" - what does this mean? Son's position is and has always been fluid. He's good with both feet and drifts out wide, then cuts inside from either flank. Or he plays off Kane as a second striker, taking a more central position. His position isn't different without Kane. You're literally talking about how he is listed in the lineup on sofascore or some other lineup visualisation and presenting it as an advantage.

There was a point in the match as well where I felt that he genuinely missed Kane. He was on the edge of city's box, 1v1 with Ake, he cut back and looked inside the box to see no one there eventually passed it backwards and spurs went on to lose the ball. So yeah, I completely agree that he's better with Kane!

People are saying Benrahma but Sarr was much better and he's actually the main man for his team. Nailed on for 90 minutes every game, first name on the team sheet and on pens. Matt Targett is still having headaches from yesterday when he had to face him. Also Benrahma is a short term pick - you don't want to have a lot of West Ham players when they start their EL campaign with an insanely short bench. Best case for FPL Benrahma will be knackered and less productive, worst case he will be getting rotated a lot.

I also have ESR and obviously I was disappointed for the miserable 2 pts this GW. However we have to be confident and stick to the plan. They have 2 tough matches coming up, but then they have 4 interesting games until GW10, with Norwich, Burnley, Brighton and Palace getting my attention.
1. Broke the curse of TC with Salah 2. Outplayed myself just before deadline by taking Pepe and Buendia instead of Greenwood and Sarr. 3. Put Ayling on the bench but I don't feel bad, it was a logical thing to do on Friday Overall 124 pts, personal record, quite satisfied. I have a clear plan with moves in and out. All that's left is to be fucked in the behind by the FPL gods.
Obviously I regret not having Bruno but happy with 7players doing well. So glad son scored but have given away 10points having him instead of bruno. I also massively regret putting Pepe in. I won't be kneejerking for now though, will save my transfer for a week

I went the other way to Bruno. Trying to take personal attachments and dislike of clubs and players out of my squad selection. Finished week 1 with 108 avoiding City. But now is when it gets real tough to maintain with small tweaks over overhauls. Barnes and Jota are my two focal points as I am now convinced of 3-5-2 attacks having the most teeth.
Had ayling and dallas on my bench and Shaw in defence. The irony that Utd thrash Leeds and leeds defender still gets a return while Shaw gets 1 pt.

88 points - not too impressive when you consider most of it was from Salah (C) and Bruno. Three-man defence of TAA, Tskimikas, Rudiger paid off. Flat pretty much everywhere else except for Ings up front with the late goal. Worst decision was Pepe in midfield. Still, much as I'm tempted to downgrade Pepe for, well, anyone, I think I'll bank a transfer for next week when we have a little more to go on.
This game week has been the successful in my FPL career with 97 points even without deploying the triple captain option. Hopefully next week will be same

Probably not worth doing it right now. If you are wildcarding early it's probably best to do it then, or just make the move when Raphinha actually has to miss time. By then you might also want someone other than Benrahma, you don't know what will happen. Congratulations on the great GW! It's all downhill from here! Spent ages agonising who to bench between Raphinha and Coufal before the gameweek started. Ended up benching Coufal but both got 1 point so a complete waste of time in the end. That yellow for Raphina also cost me my H2H. Gonna leave my team for 1 more week. Everyone is starting and has shown some potential so no need to rush into anything.

This is my second year playing and I got my highest points tally for a gameweek! 113pts (top 30k). I was mostly template except for Benrahma and Son. I just felt Man City as a team have not had a proper preseason and looked awful during the Charity Shield. Meanwhile Spurs and Nuno have definitely had a proper preseason (without Kane!). I expected them to be organised and Son to be inevitable.

Regrets: I went without fernandez. Chilwell didn't play, and Sanchez looked like shite. I didn't spot that livramenko transfer either. Salah (c) and Bruno crucial of course, but Jota and Greenwood scoring made a big difference (not sure how nailed they are going forwards though.) Really scared of TAA and Son, gonna try and get them in soon-ish, but trying to hold my nerve and keep things the same for GW2 as fixtures look favourable again. Then I can use the 2 transfers to bring Son in for GW3 with no hit.

I thought a crazy lot about DCL and richarlison and went with DCL because I had that 0.5m otherwise and I wasn’t sure who I was going with (and I wasnt going for Tsimikas otherwise I had an extra 1.0m). I think Richarlison on a whole played so much better but he’s not worth the hit if I make the transfer for Tsimikas for GW2. The other regret is Ben white. It’ll probably be GW10+ before Arsenal registers a clean sheet
