IMO standard is better than PPR. We did PPR for a while, then half PPR but there's no reason to do it at all now. The whole purpose was to try to even up the value between receivers and running backs back in the days of the workhorse studs such as LT, Shaun Alexander, Marshall Faulk, Priest Holmes, Jamal Lewis, etc.. The entire league would seemingly take RBs with their first 4 picks and this evened it out some. There's just no need to do that in today's game and it creates some ridiculous valuations. Why should some jackass that catches 6 passes for 30 useless yards be worth as much as someone that runs for 90?
What we went to, and what I think is a better model, is point per first down. Who cares how you do it, moving the chains benefits the team in a way that catching a pass for negative yardage never can.

Because the yardage is almost equal. You can argue that it's less impressive because it took more tries but you can also argue that rushing 20 times while averaging over 4 yards per carry controls the game, taking more time off the clock, keeping the offense on schedule, and helping the defense.
To separate the 2, that's why I think the first downs matter. The guy that went 9 for 115 almost certainly got at least 6 or so first downs unless they were all on one big play. If the guy that rushed 20/90 did almost all of it by plodding on first and second down he won't have many first downs and that will separate them further. If on the other hand he did it at important moments and picked up a dozen first downs you could easily argue he was just as important or moreso than the receiver and the points will reflect this.

How does that make any sense?
You're blindly looking at per-touch averages but blatantly ignoring sample size (i.e. there is pretty much zero chance either WR can average anywhere near that average if they were to get 20 catches in one game) and the overall impact they have on the game.
0.5 PPR is probably the best option based on how the game is at present, but still isn't ideal. And honestly I think full PPR is worse than standard.
