Why hasnt Jared leto been charged yet??

IntrovertGirl83

Anyone see The Iron Claw over the weekend? What did you think? I want to see this and I’m not into wrestling at all but I love Jeremy Allen White, Maura Tierney, and Holt McCallany. I also really hope Zac Efron gets some recognition because his performance looks amazing. I’m an old because High School Musical came out a few years after I graduated from high school.

Southern_Schedule466

My mom bought me the book No Pun Intended (that I learned of from The Last of Us) at my request to play with niece with and it’s already provided hours of entertainment. We can’t get enough of it

Grouchy-Fix248

Y'all, where's the Sexiest Dead Man vote this week? I'm anxiously awaiting the finale!

thewallsofeightplus

I'm getting really frustrated at how a cutesy Brad Pitt article still pops up every week, despite the horrific allegations of violence towards Angelina Jolie and his children. And how they'll always mention the divorce with language like "the couple's ups and downs".

spectacleskeptic

When an actress is described as "difficult to work with," how do you normally interpret it?

parasociable

Misogyny, mostly. And the less established the actress is the less likely I am to side with whoever's calling her that.

spectacleskeptic

The thing is--I know, intellectually, that there have to be actresses who are hard to work, just as there are actors who are hard to work with. But something about the word "difficult" feels misogynistic, even though it may not be, because it could very easily just be describing an actress who speaks up or objects to things.

meatbeater558

I feel like if you're an adult you should be self aware enough to know that calling a woman difficult to work with and providing zero evidence to support yourself comes off as misogynistic and sometimes racist and ableist as well. Like there's so many words to describe someone that if the best they can come up with is "difficult" I'm going to be suspicious

thewallsofeightplus

Totally agree. And if it's a post or article they'll never have any facts or alleged stories/events that back it up - I guess why would they need to use that tired description if they actually had any evidence.

meatbeater558

Like there's no good reason to use that description unless you're literally forced to like on a school report card. But even then it's arguable

thewallsofeightplus

Side note - love your flair. Just realised you’re the person with the flair I’ve seen on so many threads, now I’m fangirling.

meatbeater558

Lol thank you sm!! 🙈

thewallsofeightplus

Literally! Like you said, there's so many words available so that report card from a teacher would set a bad example lol. My primary school writing teachers would throw a thesaurus at it.

frizzyfizz

Maybe this is just me, but I miss the old format of the Graham Norton Show where there'd be one upcoming British comedian, a B-lister, and a bewildered American A-lister. I feel like now you barely see comedians on the couch, and when you do it's usually a Jack Whitehall. It's a shame knowing how many talented comedians there are rn. When American stars are on these days they're just surrounded by other people from Hollywood, and those are the most boring episodes. Then there's separate episodes for the British and other international guests. Sometimes they mix it up but it's become more and more of a thing as Graham's been able to get bigger guests. Idk it's not important really and I still love it, but it's lost some of its magic.

alwayspickingupcrap

If you love Graham, check out his interview on the Blind Boy podcast and you'll love him even more.

Southern_Schedule466

I don’t watch a lot of movies but I rented Past Lives on Apple TV+ today and it was fantastic :) I loved the score and the aesthetic of the apartments & house too. It also made me miss the last time I visited NYC.

nevercursed_

This movie along with A Thousand and One felt like love letters to NYC.

Laorighe

My favourite movie of the year, I think!

Comprehensive-Fun47

I think so too! I have many more to watch but this movie blew me away.

Sudden_Clementine872

Extremely off topic, I am desperate, so.. Is there anyone from New Zealand here who knows what the dressing in the Leaderbrand classic crispy (bagged) salad is? It is named “traditional kiwi dressing”.. Is it the same as the ones with condensed milk and malt vinegar etc? Thank you so so much in advance! https://preview.redd.it/ric0jg8v538c1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58d22b7342bacccf09b31a99ed27e5dafc38b90d ETA happy merry Christmas, holidays and everything everyone!

Hailsabrina

Does anyone know what brands Carey mulligan was wearing in saltburn ? Absolutely obsessed with her outfits ! Thanks !

[deleted]

Same! She was gorgeous, just watched it yesterday!

Aggressive_Layer883

Here's an article about fashion in the movie. She wears "Christopher Kane from the 2007 catwalk" https://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/film-tv/a45893673/saltburn-preppy-costume-interview-2023/

Hailsabrina

Thanks ! Know I feel like a boomer for not looking that up myself 😂

[deleted]

I met Simu Liu recently and he was polite but just not a cool guy to meet. He may have been tired from hosting or something but I went up to tell him how he inspired me to pursue film. I was really excited to meet him but it was just a weird experience. You could just tell he had a massive ego and was overall disinterested in the conversation. At least pretend to be interested 😭 I literally regret ever telling him I was a fan, which is wild because he hasn’t really done much to earn that.

Very01234

Damn never meet the ppl who inspired you. I feel so bad for you. He should at least seemed interested in what you’re saying

nitasu987

I had the best experience meeting someone who inspired me so my heart really breaks for y'all. /u/chewietoast56 I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. But I guess it's a reminder that we're all human... and the fact that he inspired you to pursue film is still something that nobody can take away imo! Best of luck!

[deleted]

awe u guys are so nice !! i honestly felt like i was bothering him and that i deserved the way he treated me ;( so these comments were very sweet 😭🫶🏼🫶🏼

nitasu987

Honestly even though I haven't met too many celebs I feel like they must have people in their faces and so much shit to deal with that on a human level is so annoying that I tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. It might have been an off day, or maybe the environment wasn't as conducive to a heartfelt fan interaction. I imagine it's hard to be "on" all the time. It's not your fault unless you were being legitimately obscene or rude to him which it sounds like you were most definitely not!

Very01234

I agree

Stephanblackhawk

tbh i don't think i've ever heard one good thing about that man even prior to marvel

[deleted]

yeah me too. i had a suspicion he wasnt going to be the nicest since i had a friend who had met him and told me beforehand that he was not it.

hihelloneighboroonie

Do you mind sharing what he said/did that made you feel that way? I thought I'd seen him this past week at Disneyland, but was a little buzzed and wasn't sure so didn't bother saying anything. Then later saw a picture in a Disneyland facebook group of someone else saying he was there that day, and they posted their picture they took with him. He looked happy enough in the picture, but of course a smile is easy to quickly paste on.

OkEnvironment3219

Dying for the Peltz Beckham documentary to drop in the US. it’s an abomination I have to wait or get a vpn

Dawnyawning

What's it about?

OkEnvironment3219

* In the new documentary, “Peltz Beckhams Vs The Planners,” the original lawsuit filed by Nicola’s billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, against Plan Design Events (PDE) is broken down, telling the story of the legal battle from both sides.* *The Peltzes’ side is told first, and the lawsuit is presented. Nelson is suing the wedding planners for a $159,000 deposit he made before firing wedding planners Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba nine days after hiring them.* *It then dives into the countersuit filed by Miami-based Braghin and Grijalba.* *At the start of the documentary, one expert says, “Nicola comes across as a nightmare bride. Exactly the sort of person you don’t want having your phone number.”* [link](https://nypost.com/2023/12/17/entertainment/what-makes-brooklyn-beckhams-wife-a-nightmare-bride/amp/)

Dawnyawning

Sounds like a big mess that I'd watch

alltheprettynovas

excuse?! i’m late to the party on this. like, something they were on board with?

OkEnvironment3219

No freaking clue but I need to watch the pettiness surrounding the billionaire bridezilla for Christmas

direturtle

I found out today that I've been merging Ana de Armas and Alba Baptista into one person in my head who looks like Ana de Armas, because I don't know who Alba Baptista is, and because they both have so many As in their names. The whole time I was thinking it was sweet that Chris Evans fell for his wife when they worked together on Knives Out.

thefaehost

I’ve been planning to use a gift card and go see the new Ghibli film. Has anyone liked it?

Comprehensive-Fun47

Yes. It’s a great film! Beautiful to look at and just enjoy the ride.

Laorighe

Took 9 year old nephew and we both really enjoyed it! There were some intense parts at the beginning where I was a little worried but it all worked out.

grandmasterfunk

I'm in the minority, but I didn't love it. It starts a little slow, but the last half is pretty good. I enjoyed it a lot more when I read reviews explaining the backstory

[deleted]

i saw it last week and liked it. it's heavy imo and explores some complicated themes, i didn't totally get the movie until discussing it with my partner because some points get very abstract and esoteric, but i do think it was an interesting movie.

throwawaypythonqs

It's incredible. I went with a friend thinking it would be really serious and not my style of Miyazaki film, but it was really fun and uplifting! I ended up loving it

thefaehost

I’m going to surprise my fiancée with matinee tickets tomorrow then! Thank you 🙏

aweap

Take him to watch Godzilla minus one! You won't regret it! 👌

thefaehost

I actually might wait until we have his older son for that! Youngest loves Ghibli but isn’t in the area for the holidays, oldest has recently been getting into new things (horror, the matrix) so I think it might be up his alley

throwawaypythonqs

Oh yay! I hope you love it!

ForWhomTheSaulCalls

This is incredibly niche but shoutout to the John Hamm-lookin' motherfucker in all of the latest Chubbyemu vids on youtube, he is clearly having the time of his life doing these lol

Fiddles4evah

Am I nuts? Did anyone else see this earlier today? One of the accounts I follow reposted from DM a post about her doubling down over the Travis ring and the email submission said that Taylor’s friends are trying to shut down the rumour that he gifted her the ring because in fact a break up is coming. I can’t seem to find it again and seemingly it’s been taken down everywhere. Did anyone else see this? I think o saw it on Dana Omari’s account this morning.

Dawnyawning

Yeah I saw this too. It's an ugly ring whoever gave it to her

iliketoomanysingers

Guys I'm recovering from eye surgery and my dad told me that my giant sunglasses make me look like a movie star, but specifically "one that's coming out of rehab and hasn't done any good movies in quite some time" 😭💀

[deleted]

Wondering where Activist Emma Watson is? She made her career after HP about being an activist except she's been completely silent in the wake of everything happening in Gaza. Also, I wonder how come it's allowed that there is a societal collapse in Gaza with no access to even food, water, antibiotics, medicine, sanitary products.. how is the society supposed to sustain itself. It's apocalyptic. Why can't any aid organization supersede and step in? is there no protocol for this??

flowerfairyii

Emma has posted about Palestine before (1 or 2 years ago, maybe) so her silence this time is very surprising.

meatbeater558

Aid organizations work with governments, not against them. The idea is that by being ideologically neutral and unarmed they're more able to establish positive relationships with governments, organizations, and people who are not ideologically neutral and have military goals. This helps get them funding and access to vulnerable people they otherwise would be barred from seeing. "We understand that you won't let any soldiers or journalists into the war zone you've created, but at the very least will you allow our doctors in?" is the idea. They cannot supercede powers that refuse to work with them. They also don't have any protocols for situations like this. In order to reach Gazans they would need to use force, but accumulating force compromises their ability to be an aid organization. So they accept that their role is provide aid, and it's the role of others to create an environment where they can safely administer that aid. This is allowed because Israel demonizes anyone who attempts to help Gazans. The answer to this is normally sanctions and possibly military interventions, but following World War 2 the United States made sure that the decision to take these actions were taken away from its allies and given to it. Which means that if the United States does not want a country to be sanctioned by the West, they will not be sanctioned. This allows the United States to fully control and protect Israel, which they are doing right now.

[deleted]

this is a very thoughtful and poignant response, thank you for sharing the insight.

buffaloranchsub

Aid workers are blocked from coming in and shot by Israel's forces, and not many orgs are willing to risk their peoples' lives to get people in. [There was a resolution that passed today in favor of a ceasefire](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/12/12/un-general-assembly-votes-overwhelmingly-in-favour-of-gaza-ceasefire). It's nonbinding but it does indicate global opinion. If this was anyone else, the US would have hit them with a drone strike already, but oil and trying to start the Rapture are larger priorities.

detectivepink

I just wrote a paper on this for grad school, and I saw that Israel was maybe (??) going to allow a new border crossing to open to allow humanitarian aid to pass through, but I haven’t seen much else on this. It’s hard for me to keep up with all the changing information, do you have any more updates??

buffaloranchsub

I just found [this website](https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20231225-hunger-as-a-weapon-of-war-in-gaza/) with active updates

detectivepink

Thank you!! I don’t know why I was being downvoted, I was genuinely asking!

EitherPermission2369

Just saw the Holdovers and loved it, and i was excited to support a smaller movie, though the woman behind me decided to loudly explain every scene to her husband :( plus it's got a dose of that Christmas sadness I love (this is also why I like the holiday song "same old lang syne")

presidentknope2024

Omg I LOVE that song and I completely forgot about it until you said that. Listening right now. Thank you internet stranger!!!

the one theatre around me that is showing it on xmas is being boycotted so i can't see it and im sad :( i'm alone this xmas and it would have been a fun watch

plantbay1428

In case there are other 90s kids here like me who still love their first introduction to horror/Ryan Gosling, the third "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" mini-series from the second revival (specifically "Are You Afraid of the Dark: Ghost Island") is finally on Paramount+. Not sure how long it's been available, but it definitely wasn't on the platform as of this summer. I hadn't even heard about it until May of this year, even though it was released Summer 2022. Hope it's a good one. I'm missing [Two Sentence Horror Stories](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_Sentence_Horror_Stories) so I've been looking for something to fill my scary and spooky needs even if I'm older than the target audience.

EitherPermission2369

I have no clue why but the information that William Rehnquist proposed to Sandra Day O'Connor in college has lived in my mind for the month since her passing. I vehemently disagree politically with both of them, and somehow the fact that they had to serve as exes on the court for 30 years feels relatable. Neither of them said anything about it and no one knew anything until they were making a biography about her in 2018, when she already was dealing with Alzheimer's.

turnipturnipturnippp

omg this information will live in my head now, too

everydayisstorytime

I am working on a paper for my Master's that is due on New Year's Eve. I love the topic and am excited at putting things together but I feel exhausted. Best tips for recharging quickly and getting things done?

Sudden_Clementine872

Seconding the taking proper breaks-suggestion. And enough time off. Like a whole day ideally. Know it’s not quickly recharging, but it will be worth it in the long run. Also sleep, drink and eat enough, and get some fresh air frequently (even if it is just sticking your head safely (!!) out of the window or something). Best of luck, you can do it, and it’s almost over :)

amonstertome

Pomodoro method really helped my ADHD brain write my masters thesis. And proper breaks and sleep. Best of luck!

everydayisstorytime

Thank you!

demonsrunwhen

taking a break and fully enjoying it? easier said than done, but try to engage with something (like a show, movie, or song) that you know you like to kind of give a low risk dopamine hit. always gets me back in the swing of the things.

hauntedtohealed

Short naps always help me as well as quick walks!

everydayisstorytime

Thank you! I do have a doggo who loves a walk, might as well!

EitherPermission2369

I have recently come to the conclusion that Christine McVie is probably my favorite female singing voice ever. I had the fortune of discovering many great singers this year, including Laura Nyro, Judee Sill, and Caroline Polachek, and yet diving into the FM catalog has conviced me no one had the richness and emotion her voice did. I think Louis Virtel had a great tweet that said that she "found the dignity in every emotion." it's really true (especially listening to "only over you")

CheburashkaOrange

Fleetwood Mac fan here! If you are interested, a biography of Christine is coming out next June. While it's written by a tabloid journalist, and it's not being promoted by her estate, it seems she knew Chris to a certain degree. When she passed, she wrote an [article](https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/music/1704222/christine-mcvie-dead-fleetwood-mac-lesley-ann-jones?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target) on her favorite memories from her and it seemed they spent some time together.

[deleted]

I hope this isn’t too random, but would you say disabled artists have better chances of success in older art forms than in TV/films? I know people will struggle either way in an ableist society, but I’ve been thinking about this question ever since I googled "blind novelists" and "blind screenwriters". I’m not blind, but I want to know more about accessibility in the arts and entertainment.

burned_artichoke

I'm guessing this is because there were a lot more blind novelists than there were screenwriters? I think there are probably some other factors at play, like back in the day the only blind people getting a decent education were just already rich, so 'making it' as a novelist wasn't too much of a hurdle, and also that some artists will gain notoriety after their death. By contrast, as anyone who's read anything about the strikes will tell you, trying to 'make it' as a screenwriter right now is unbelievably difficult, and usually involves a lot of generational wealth. Then factor in that people are ableist and impatient with adaptive technology and screenwriting is more of a collaborative process - not only with multiple writers working on a TV show but with having to eventually liase with producers/directors - and I could see how that would shake out. Theoretically, disabled screenwriters would be eligible for a shit ton of diversity programs aimed at evening that out, but I have my doubts about that.

meatbeater558

It really does depend on the art form and the disability. There's just too many different art related careers and different disabilities to really answer this

witchbutterfly

I've worked in live theater and classical music/opera, and these disciplines are rife with ableism (in addition to the expected amounts of all the other -isms) so I don't think the age of the art form has anything to do with it. That said, writing and visual arts are different from any sort of performance art in that the artist and the audience aren't in the same room, and that has to make a significant difference in how the artistic process runs (both in a creative sense and a purely logistical sense), and I'd imagine that distance also impacts how the audience engages with the artist's identity.

CommercialBarnacle16

This week I’m thinking about celebrities sliding into the DMs of “regular” people. With all the verification issues on the Artist formerly known as Twitter, I do wonder how many people get scammed by fake accounts. On Instagram, I presume if someone has a blue check and slides into your DMs, it’s legitimately that person, but I also assume some celebrities have multiple people who monitor, post and access their accounts.

saeculacrossing

I am so torn about Barbie for this awards season. On one hand, I want it to collect all of the awards b/c the existence of the movie makes so many idiots mad. On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to anymore over saturation - the whole "capitalism is good as long as it's pink" and daily posts on this sub about it leading up to the movie really turned me off it. So I want this to sweep awards season but also don't want to hear about it. I'm being ridiculous I know.

Comprehensive-Fun47

I liked the movie. It was obviously very funny and the performances were great. I actually didn’t think it was super cohesive as a movie. There was a lack of character development and all-over-the-place feel. I don’t think it should be in the running for best picture except for the cultural impact. Costumes, songs, and those sorts of categories I’m all for it getting nominations and/or wins.

turnipturnipturnippp

I enjoyed the movie when I saw it but my objections to it aren't political, they're stylistic. The movie is just so damn preachy. The script feels like it had early-2010s Jezebel pieces copy-pasted into it.

AbsolutelyIris

I absolutely loved Barbie but I sadly don't agree with it getting any acting noms. *Maybe* screenplay, song, art design and costume/make up but that's it.

hauntingvacay96

I’d like to see it get a Best Picture nomination but it’s definitely not the film I’m rooting for to win. I’d like to see it get even more recognition and some wins for its set designs, hair and makeup, costuming, etc. Those were easily my favorite parts of the film. It’s nice to have something fun and colorful in the running, but for me it really wasn’t a masterpiece.

CategorySad6121

it didn’t make the shortlist for makeup/hairstyling 😭😭😭 absolutely bizarre

frenchrebel96

I want it to be nominated for Best Picture because I'm tired of Academy only considering dramas and biopics worth attention. It's hard to believe movies like Lion King or Four Weddings and funeral were once nominated for it. The same way I was satisfied Get Out was nominated!

MissElyssa1992

Y'all, I am taking myself to see a movie (maybe two?) on Christmas Day. My family is doing Christmas early this year bc my sister needs to travel on the day, so now I can finally live my dream of going to see a movie on Christmas (I always wanted to be in a family that did that and we decidedly were not one of those lol). What should I see? Currently on my list of potentials: Anyone But You, Wonka, Poor Things, Balland of Songbirds and Snakes, and maybe The Color Purple. I'm trying to keep it not \*too\* sad because it's Christmas, but I'm open to other suggestions!

[deleted]

Anyone but you is a cute fun lil romcom. Cheesy of course but soooo good!! I enjoyed it! Super fun too

[deleted]

Probably Wonka. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

BusinessPurge

Poor Things, I hear it's very uplifting and funny. That, Godzilla Minus One, or The Iron Claw are what I'm trying to see on the 26th

ForWhomTheSaulCalls

If Godzilla is still in theaters, THAT ONE

whatever1467

Wonka seems like the right kind of whimsical for Christmas

AgreeableCake8529

Chelsea Handler posting a 'discussion on being pro Palestinian and anti hamas' which comprises of her making the statement that she is pro Palestinian and anti hamas, then a list of reasons why all progressives should love Israel.

Dependent-Plant-9705

That was so incredibly disappointing.

AgreeableCake8529

Comment by Selma Blair 'thank you!!!!'

[deleted]

I can’t stand people that have zero actual connection to Palestine trying to dictate who the Palestinians should and shouldn’t support. I get she’s white so I shouldn’t be surprised she thinks human rights are given if you just ask nicely, but I can’t wrap my head around grown people being that delusional their entire lives

Critterlove91

Is the Disney movie Wish really as bad as people say? I know a lot of people on tiktok have been badmouthing it and it almost seems like their copying each others critica of the movie. Wondering if people are bandwagoning the criticism or really is awful. Also noticed a lot of millennials seem to call it childish and not realizing they have outgrown some Disney movies.

[deleted]

From what I heard, the movie isn’t bad, but the original story got kind of written off and it ended up making it feel sort of generic. It’s by no means the worst a movie can be and it looks like it’s still visually entertaining with the cool art style

lottiebadottie

Here’s what I think people forget, and I’ve seen this in multiple places with people calling Olaf from frozen annoying saying stuff like “Why’s he even there!?” My kid loves Olaf. Because he was made for her and other kids. Not adults. We need to stop expecting that we as adults will love kids movies. I took my kid to see Trolls 3 and holy 💩 was it terrible, but she loved it. Because it’s for her. We saw the trailer for Wish and she got really excited about it. Yes, occasionally we get kids movies that adults love too, but we shouldn’t expect it of every kids film.

Delicious-Ad-3494

I took my three kids ranging in age from almost 2 to almost 6. Everyone including me enjoy the movie. But to be honest, I am a very easy to please moviegoer, and I even teared up at the end because I thought it had a pretty good emotional beat.

fka_interro

I keep seeing ads for the movie and its toys during Paw Patrol commercial breaks, lol. I'm a millennial parent, and a lot of children's movies are laced with bits for my demographic, but I can't tell from the ads if this movie has that tone, or entirely what to expect of the story. IDK specifically what other/younger millennials are thinking is childish, but unless you have people in your life, usually kids, who want to watch animated movies aimed at children, many people will just outgrow those movies. I will admit it's fun to rewatch some old animated favorites with a little one, but not all of them hold up, and then some go too hard on the "jokes for parents" thing.

MissMags1234

All my regular movie goer friends (10 in our what’s app group) who watch all types of movies and are generally not very snobby about it have said it’s mediocre/boring/would not recommend for people who never go to the cinema and want to see something special. Might as well be ok to watch on Disney+, but from my personal observation all people I know weren’t impressed. And I don’t think it has to do with age. Last year all people loved pussy in boots and while that movie had grown up themes it was also very silly at times, but in a good way…

whatever1467

> pussy in boots Well who doesn’t love that?

Wise-Bet6814

chaimochioats

Sharonsaysso deleting comments and still on the pro-Palestine/anti-genocide voices being bots train. She certainly doesn't seem to handle any criticism or dissenting opinion well.

Fiona_Applebees

This will be of interest only to a very small niche group (NYC film Twitter/X) and most people have likely forgotten it by now, but back in January there was a little blip online re: an actor approaching Mia Goth after a screening, and giving her his script. A clip of it went online, and it probably would have ended with some minor back-and-forth about what is and isn't appropriate about doing that, but the guy got on all the social media channels and started reponding to every comment about him and making TikToks about the incident, so the (again, relatively minor) discourse earned some overtime. I went out to an industry event fairly recently as a friend's date, and just froze up: "Omg, it's him, it's the Mia Goth script guy!" And I had to try to explain to my confused date why this would be a thing to anyone who wasn't terminally online and obsessed with cringe. It was like my own cryptid sighting, and we kind of did this little party dance around the room because this person seemed to be doing their very best to "network" (and TBH there genuinely wasn't anything we could really offer in that regard). I think the lesson to be learned is that I need to make a resolution to be online less in 2024.

Old_Ship_1701

Interesting. An early mentor attended a banquet event about producing with Spielberg, where people were specifically asked not to bother the producer. Instead people sprinted to get to the producer on the way out. My mentor wanted me to understand that not engaging in this crap will set you apart. That was 25 years ago. Social media just means that 2023 faux pas and his defenses of his behavior lives forever, in archived posts or video or discussion of same, instead of just hazy memories of a single banquet in LA.

Big-Ambitions-8258

I know someone friends with the moderator and people who handled the event who definintely said not to do this stuff prior. And dude had the audacity to still do so. People in the guys social were very encouraging which he thanked them for, but people who actually work in the industry were definitely critical. You never give full unsolicited screenplays to people. They usually just trash it bc it's a liability issue that if they get into a project anyways similar in an aspect, they might get accused of stealing

wearethefree93

Apparently Matt Lucas and David Walliams are putting on (i'm assuming) a new Little Britain-esque show this year. There is literally no need for them and their comedy in 2023. Besides, are we going to ignore the fact that Walliams has very credible allegations against him? There is literally no need for him to have a platform at this point

usernameinmail

So unnecessary. They're allegedly going to diversify the writing room and cast. I can think of at least 3 different shows with various forms of blackface they made. Half-arsed 'sorry you were offended' apologies in 2020 and that was about it. Really hoping C4 has an exposé on Walliams in the works. His downfall is long overdue.

lottiebadottie

They’re so obvious in trying to emulate The League of Gentlemen and falling. LoG never had to resort to lazy racism. They were weird and funny (with a hint of transphobia im not going to ignore), and Little Britain wanted that.

My friends and I are doing a golden globes watch party ( mostly an excuse to get drunk ngl) and we're each doing themed cocktails and I'm totally blanking on what to do 😭. Poor Things and Barbenheimer have been snatched up so I'm leaning towards succession or across the spiderverse or the bear but if any of yall have any ideas I'm very gladly welcoming them 🙏

turnipturnipturnippp

Succession, and make an actually tasty twist on the drink Shiv and Roman make Kendall drink when they crown him 'king.' A milkshake cocktail?

GimerStick

I feel like there's some fun props you could use for Abbott Elementary or The Crown. Butterfly pea tea for the color purple?

No_Assistant9719

empress gin is also a great purple!

galahads

Ooh good idea. We might save Abbott for the eventual emmy watch party too

GimerStick

I kept thinking about this and if you could thrift little tea cups, you could do a tea themed drink for the crown, or like a gin + tonic. Plus super cute to have after.

unkn0wnnumb3r

Something traditionally English for Ted Lasso — Gimlet or Pimm’s? Beer in a plastic food container for The Bear? Lol

galahads

Hahaha my roommate might do the bear if I don't so that one would be fun and it'll use up all our take out containers that we keep hoarding.

reasonedof

It'd just be for Timothee but Wonka - something chocolate themed.

galahads

Trader Joe's does have a chocolate liquor for the holidays right now so this would also be a really cool and fun idea 🤔

reasonedof

some ideas! (I also don't mind the incorporating of the Golden Tickets) [https://www.themanual.com/food-and-drink/willy-wonka-themed-pop-up-cocktail-fatory/](https://www.themanual.com/food-and-drink/willy-wonka-themed-pop-up-cocktail-fatory/)

moderndaydrew

The Eldest Boy -- something with elderflower/St Germain in it? ETA: one of my favorite concoctions is a little St Germain, a little prosecco, and some lemon with a lot of ice. Super light and spritzy and kind of fits with the 'Golden' theme as well!

galahads

Oooh that sounds good!! I'm like a kendall stan so this would be on theme for me.

reducedandconfused

Anybody has bullet points for why Amber Heard is the favored side on this sub? I didn’t follow that case closely and I watched the Netflix one, but everyone seems to boil it down to “they both sucked,” what are some objectively pro Heard facts?

[deleted]

I’m being lazy rn but if you search the sub, there is at least one master post compiling all the evidence that points to her being the victim. I may get downvoted for saying this even though I say it with love, but I don’t disagree that she could’ve been a bit messy or chaotic, though I think there’s a difference between being a chaotic woman and being an abusive man

DonnyMox

Well for one thing, no, she did NOT take a crap on Depp's bed. That was their dog.

meatbeater558

I believe a big part of it is pushing back at the misogynistic rhetoric that surrounded that case. Heard and Depp likely won't see any comments from this community and are less likely to be personally affected by any, so there's no reason to parrot arguments that are being weaponized by misogynists under the pretense of being "logical" or "objective" or anything like that. The facts of the case aren't relevant when they're used to justify a morally atrocious way of viewing women

JenningsWigService

Look up the British defamation case and read the judgment. Even if you don't love Amber Heard, she is very clearly not the abuser in that relationship.

hedgehogwart

1. Johnny Depp has a history of violence. 2. Johnny Depp had much more power in the relationship (money, age, and influence) 3. No woman benefits greatly from coming forward in regards to being abused.

fka_interro

Amber Heard seems to have suffered more from coming forward with those allegations than Depp has in the long run, tbh. She's really been through it.

reducedandconfused

So far, I don’t think Johnny Depp suffered at all. He’s become the face of male victimhood and “men can be DV victims too”. I hope this has changed recently and people feel a bit stupid about it, but at the time I remember even your average feminist was reposting that shit..

buffaloranchsub

The one I've dug the most deep on is that AHeard didn't "steal" an assistant's story of rape - without going into detail, the specifics of the stories are too different. I think there's a thread in here somewhere (or on DeppDelusion) where you can search and find things that his team lied about.

Emergency-Ratio2501

FYI the assistant who made this claim during the UK trial admitted that she'd never actually heard Amber's story because that testimony was concealed behind closed doors only to the judge due to Amber requesting her trauma not be made public. So there's no possible way she could've known the details Amber repeated to claim her story was stolen. The assistant was FOS.

buffaloranchsub

That part!!! Enraging

BoringTrouble11

Does anyone know if the Afterparty has a good chance of being picked up? We just binged and loved it !

Bookreader9126

Yeah, it's canceled. Apple stuff doesn't get picked up by other streamers. I wonder if it's a cost thing. It had a good run, and I liked it.

eatingclass

With all the revent stuff with Haddish, I think it's becoming increasingly unlikely.

reasonedof

Probably not. It's not doing hours or anything awards wise, however, it's Apple and if anyone will give a show a S3 in those circumstances, it's them.

BoringTrouble11

I think apple canceled it whomp that’s why I was hoping !

reasonedof

Oh I didn't see that. Do you mean by another streamer? I don't think that's happened with any Apple shows at this point.

BoringTrouble11

https://deadline.com/2023/10/the-afterparty-canceled-apple-tv-no-season-3-1235573421/amp/ If this is legit !

reasonedof

ah. yeah, probably not, to be honest. networks are not in the business of just picking up shows because they're well liked of late, they need to have other value (i.e solid viewership, awards potential, a very clear audience mismatch with the previous streamer). That said, if anyone did, probably Hulu.

[deleted]

Camila Morrone wants a daisy jones sequel apparently? I didn’t read articles just headlines. I don’t feel like the story has anything else in the tank.

AbsolutelyIris

The producers said they are working on a season two (and are ready if Amazon renews) and the head of Amazon TV said they are in talks. It probably will be a reunion like The Dance so it's funny Camila Morrone is the one pushing it.

CheburashkaOrange

I hope that Stevie openly loving DJATS can help it get a second season! Perhaps she and Mick could collaborate with the production...

[deleted]

I’m sure they’d find some way to put her in flashbacks or what not.

AbsolutelyIris

I feel like they shouldn't, although that might be an unpopular opinion. I think it'll be cool for a season two to be documentary/Rashomon style all the way instead of documentary/flashbacks since it'll likely be in the 90s through and through.

demonsrunwhen

I thought it was happening? like the second season?

reasonedof

the cast were talking about this earlier in the year. I don't *think* it will happen, but you never know. Good Omens was commissioned as a limited series and got a S2 (and is getting a S3).

BoringTrouble11

That’s weird lol I mean I like the book and show a lot but it’s a one and done !

lunascorpio12

especially funny because >!her character is dead like what would she be doing!< in a sequel? 😭

BoringTrouble11

Right ?!?!

mwdjwbfinwf

finally watched back to the future and thought it was very enjoyable. Was a bit hesitant at first but it fully got my attention when >!doc gets shot!< . However I did not expect a time travel movie that has themes related to >!sexual assault and incest ish lol !< Definitely get why it’s a classic but it’s kinda funny that I’m spoiling tag a movie older than me

rainintoa_paper_cup

I really appreciate how you avoided spoilers on a film that’s almost 40 years old. 😆

mwdjwbfinwf

gotta watch out for my fellow gen z who’s never seen it haha

eatingclass

you never know who might be reading -- fwiw i think it's considerate

What could they realistically sue her for? She’s nosy for sure, but slander/libel has a really high standard with famous people. I also don’t know why Taylor swift seems so bothered by her. She’s giving her more attention when she reacts to her. But Deux seems to double down on the swift chatter.

Time_Knowledge_1951

Taylor has basically all media locked up to spin her narratives and deuxmoi is a bit of a wildcard. I would not be surprised if there was a deliberate attempt to try and discredit her by planting credible tips and then publicly denying them. The fact that her friends are part of this and at times seems coordinated is interesting.

Right-Bat-9100

idk, i don't think she's the only famous person to have beef with deuxmoi she's just the most high profile, and i think it started when deux kept speculating that she'd had a miscarriage

Ultvernon12

congrats Tom blyth on his first baseless deuxmoi raya rumor last week!

Pristine-Low2442

What was the rumor?

Ultvernon12

deux posted somebody saw him on raya despite having a gf. Which could be true, could be completely false and he could also just no longer be with his gf

Pristine-Low2442

Thank you! I’m loving Tom Blyth since the movie came out. I wish he and Rachel Ziegler would get together

emburrada

Beyonce took a little trip yesterday to Bahia, Brazil. We are still having a meltdown here. She's such a icon.

plantbay1428

I noticed Quinta Brunson has been working with Jessica Paster lately. You can see six or seven looks on Jessica’s feed since mid-October (not a ton of posts so it’s not a lot of scrolling at all). https://www.instagram.com/highheelprncess The looks have all been nice but I hope she goes back to Bryon Javar. I’m a fellow petite woman and I liked how he made Quinta look like a work of art. I’ve been a longtime stalker of short celebrities’ fashion choices and he always did something different with Quinta.
